The Southwest chapter of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has congratulated the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello on his award as Professor (Honoris Causa) in Humanitarian Services, Human Resources Management and Peace Building at the prestigious Thomas A Becket University, London and fellow of Wesley Synod Canterbury, KENT, United Kingdom.

This was contained in a congratulatory message issued by the IPAC Southwest Chairman and Secretary, Comrade Gentleman Abayomi Arabambi and Prince Tolu Ajayi.

IPAC disclosed that the It became imperative for her to lend their voice to the press release by the Chief press Secretary to the Governor Mr Mohammed Onogwu as such an awards came at the right time when it's obvious that the Youngest and youthful phenomenon Governor Yahaya BELLO is setting a new world records that will soon be domicile in the guinness book of records for the gangantuan and unprecedented infrastructural feat so far achieved in the last 71 months of the Administration

According to the release "It is quite satisfying to note that to some of us who have at the onset reposed lots of confidence in His Excellency DR YAHAYA BELLO and his Government are here vindicated with the concernment of the awards

However one tries to review the excellent performances of the current Kogi State Government , it comes up so credibly and praise Worthy .

The series of very commendable and glorious projects and services among very many that precipitated the awards include the followings :

1. Construction of biggest rice mill in northern Nigeria which is of 50 tons per day at omi in Ejiba community yagab east local government area kogi syaye this rice mill has introduce the 'confluence rice' Making kogi one of the state that produce rice in Nigeria

2. Construction of 8.5km, Ogaminana egbogogo/total junction through eikaltakpe road, locate kogi central.

3. Construction of 12.8km, ebiyakpatesi ogiri road

4. Construction of 10.7km, agasa-ukpogoro road in kogi central senatorial district

5. Construction of 21km, obeira okebgwe/obangede road.

6. Rahabilitation of idah/ajake/umomi/ejule road, kogi East, kogi state.

7. Construction of oguma/Sheria road/ bridge at bassa local government area of kogi east

8.The Procurement of 15,000 metric tonnes of NPK fertilizers and sold at a subsidised rate to farmers across the State

9. The procurement of 140 units of brand new Massey Ferguson tractors with full complementary implements distributed to the 21 LGA of the State

10.The Lease of 4,560 hectares of land to farmers across the State

11.The Cultivation of 800 hectares of rice plantation in Omi

12.Human Capital Development: Training of 1,700 Kogi Youths for the APPEALS programme

13.Construction of hundreds of white and blue classroom blocks across the 21 LGAs in Kogi State completed with the supplies of 48,243 plastic chairs and tables

15.Construction of New Kogi State Government House Gate

21 Infrastructure- over N200 million in construction cost on the forward operation base for the Nigeria army

22.Mobilization- over N1.7bn to support 545 personnel from Nigeria army, Nigeria police and the department state security

23.Human capital development- 44 instructors recruited for training the kogi state vigilante services for 8weeks.

24. Youth employment- Recruitment and training of 441 police constabulary into the Nigerian police force


Finally , the truth is that , there is no way the darkness can be made to appear to look strong enough to overpower the light.

NAIVETY is not an asset in politics as IGNORANCE is not a defense in Law, thus the Vision of Governor DR YAHAYA BELLO for NIGERIA come 2023 needs no further narations.

In conclusion , it is a great joy to be in our own way very loudly supportive of the Kogi Government led by Dr Yahaya Bello and it is with a very great confidence we hereat categorically and emphatically say that this Government will be the Government that future Nigerian Government's performance will be considered and rated along.

Recently, the people of Oke Ago Owu Community and Lafenwa market in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State heaved a sigh of relief when three completed water projects was handed over to them by Olumide And Stephanie Foundation.

The foundation, founded and promoted by veteran businessman and philanthropist, Hon. Olumide Aderinokun, who hails from Abeokuta, constructed and donated the water project to the people of Oke Ago Owu Community and Lafenwa market.

The community, which had suffered under the hardship of getting water for their daily use could not hide their joy as they trooped out to witness the commissioning of the water project.

Also, the Market men and women of Lafenwa market were so happy and grateful to the foundation for putting smile on their faces as they witnessed the commissioning of the water project, the Market leaders appreciates the foundation for the donation of the water project which is one of the major problem that the market is facing from time past.

Aderinokun, who spoke during the handing over, said the Olumide And Stephanie Foundation is a Non Governmental Association that was founded as an interventionist organisation that brings succour to people, especially those that are disadvantaged.

The commissioning of the water projects had Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, Hon Sikirulai Ogundele, Olori Kabiesi Olowu, members of Council of OWU Kingdom Chiefs, Community leaders and other dignitaries in attendance.

Meanwhile, Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu who is also a Chief in Owu Kingdom while commissioning the projects also promised to donate a transformer to Oke Ago Owu community as part of his contribution to the development of the community being the OMOGBADEMU OF OWU KINGDOM.

Lawyer Hail Supercop AIG Ahmed Iliyasu For Prompt Justice For a 15 Year-Old Rape Victim

Nigerian supercop, Assistant Inspector-General (AIG), Zonal Command, Nigeria Police, Zone 2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu and his intelligent colleague, Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu have both been hailed a hero after securing justice for a 15 year-old rape victim, Blessing Asu who was raped by a bad apple of the Nigerian police, one Sergeant Innocent Yakubu.

Barrister Biodun Aboaba, counsel to Miss Blessing Asu showered praises and encomiums on the two shinning lights of the Nigerian police force, the duo of AIG Ahmed Iliyasu and CP Hakeem Odumosu for their act of professionalism and patriosm in ensuring that justice is done in a timely manner in the rape case. According to the victim's lawyer, Aboaba of RRA Solicitors and Advocates, the erring police officer, Sergeant Yakubu with Force number 274145 of 71 PMF, Awa-Ijebu Police Command, Ogun State threatened her client with AK47 rifle, demanding to have sex with the victim by force.

Narrating the sad event in a petition addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, the lawyer explained that Sergeant Yusuf forcefully had carnal knowledge of his client and also threatened to kill the victim if she open up about the rape incident.

Blessing, who was a virgin until the ugly incident, was forced to opened up when her guardian, Alice Hugbo discovered that she was pregnant, and under pressure, the victim narrated her ordeal in the hands of her abuser, Sergeant Yakubu.

Barrister Aboaba who spoke with journalists in Abeokuta commended the swift intervention of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu and Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu for their professionalism in fishing out the suspect. Aboaba further called for justice for the innocent, appealing to the police chiefs to dismiss the suspect and charge him to court for prosecution.

In his words "Around January 10, 2020, in the wee hours of the day, precisely 10 a.m, Sergeant Innocent Yakubu, entered the room of Blessing Asu and threatened Blessing Asu with an Ak-47 rifle, demanding to have sex with her by force. Blessing Asu, fearing for her life, stopped screaming and Sergeant Innocent Yakubu violently raped her. After having unlawful carnal knowledge of Blessing Asu, Sergeant Innocent Yakubu threatened to kill her if she ever reveals to anybody that he violently raped her.

He continued "Blessing Asu, a virgin was introduced to sex in the most inhumane way ever by Sergeant Innocent Yakubu and started having nightmares immediately after the experience but however refused to disclose her ordeal to anyone.

" It was until recently that her guardian, Alice Hugbo discovered that Blessing was pregnant after noticing the changes in her body. It was when she was pressed as to who impregnated her that she summoned courage to narrate her ordeal in the hands of Sergeant Innocent Yakubu.
"The medical report confirming she raped and impregnated by Sergeant Innocent Yakubu is enclosed in this correspondence as Annexure 2. The pictures of the said Sergeant Innocent Yakubu and Blessing Asu are also enclosed as Annexure 3' & 32.

" Child rape in Nigeria has assumed dimension in Nigeria and the rape culture. According to the Inspector-General of Police, the Police has recorded about 717 rape incidents across the country between January and May. We do not want this case to be part of the ugly statistic of unresolved and unprosecuted rape cases. We humbly urge your good office to investigate this matter and swiftly charge the accused to court".

A member of Ogun State House of Assembly, also the Chairman Committee on Environment, Hon. Wahab Haruna Egungbohun has expressed concern over the health hazzard the giant Dangote Cement company in Ibese is exposing members of the community to.

Onto this end, the Lawmaker, representing Ketu Constituency (II) in Yewa North Local Government appealed to the state government to, as matter of urgency take drastic steps in curbing the ugly narrative.

Hon. Wahab who is also the Chairman Committee on Environment expressed this dissatisfaction in a media chat with Journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital, hinted that the damage that the plant under his Constituency causes for members of the community is unbearable as they complain every day.
He stressed that Dangote Cement factory in Ibese that has connection with some axis like Balogun, Eggua, Ebute, Oja Odan, Ohunbe Pedepo in Yewa calls for urgent Monitoring.

Wahab envisaged that if proper steps are not taking to urgently tackle the barbarity, the host communities would record lost of lives, an incident he said could damage the economy of the state.

He explained that most people who inhale airborne dust( carbon emissions) at the community or work are at risk of occupational disease.

The Lawmaker added that some of Dangote Cement staff are suspected COVID 19 patient. He is calling on the state government and NCDC to intervene timely to subject Dangote staffs to total Covid19 test so as not to endanger the life of people our people in Yewa North and Yewa south respectively. Information at reaching me from Dangote also shows a staff of Dangote Cement that evade arrest at first bank Igbogila after been confirmed showing symptoms.

He also added that the air pollution community members inhale can cause serious health problems through contact with skin, eyes, or breathing passages and might result in hospitalization.

Also, one major area of great concerns is the effect of the mining activities which is done without feeling the site. I felt bad when the road was blocked and I was directed to go through the mining site to connect Dangote junction on my was to Ijoun on Constituency assignments. The communities at the risk of landslides and earth quake in future are Balogun , Ibese, Abule Imashayi and Omilende along Igbogila because the site extraction extended to the back of those communities

The Chairman Committee on Environment also revealed his recent experience on the road, saying that if not for God protection, his life would have been wasted by the reckless driving by the Dangote Trailer, adding that most drivers take full control of the road whenever they are on wheel.
His words "Your Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun the negative reports that I am getting from my Constituency over the danger that Dangote Cement factory causing in the life of people in terms of the air pollution is getting worrisome."

"There is no special treatment or benefit that people are getting from the factory than damaging their immune system through the airborne," he concluded.
