In a recent development at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr.) Solomon Osho, a member of the 9th Ogun State House of Assembly, has strongly refuted the impeached Assembly Speaker, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo's claim of taking a bullet for fellow lawmakers during the EFCC investigation.

The former lawmaker said the former speaker should rather face his corruption case alone.


It would be recalled that in 2022, the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed an 11 count charge of conspiracy, forgery and stealing against Olakunle Oluomo and three others.

Addressing journalists yesterday, Oluomo insisted that he still remains the Speaker and leader of the Assembly saying that the action of the 18 lawmakers was “unconstitutional, null, void and of no effect"


He said the 18 lawmakers had no justification for the ‘illegal’ removal and that the action did not follow due process, therefore he would approach the court for adjudication on the matter.

Speaking on the EFCC case, the impeached Speaker said all the 9th Assembly members were invited by the EFCC, but he took the bullet for others as the leader of the house.

According to him "Even the case of EFCC that they're talking about, I just took bullet for all of them, all of us were invited by the EFCC, I just stand as a leader, I have the responsibility."

"When I got to the EFCC, I said look, I am the leader of that place, any questions, direct it to me, you don't need to invite all of them and I am the presiding officer and my clerk is here who is the accounting officer, who else do you need? I took the bullet for everybody.

Oluomo continues "And the money they're talking about that time, when I came, the house has about five accounts, I closed all to remain just one and all money that is giving to us goes to that account, and from there, it is transfer to everybody every month, the records are there, thank God the EFCC has asked the bank for the statement of account and I am not the account officer and I am not responsible for anything but I took bullet for everybody as a leader that is responsible"

Reacting to Oluomo's claim, Hon Osho said Oluomo lied about taking the bullet for fellow lawmakers during the EFCC investigation.

In an interview, Osho while going down memory lane, explained that his suspension along with former Deputy Speaker, Dare Kadiri, the Court ruled fairly, that the Suspension was “illegal, null & void”.


He added that the court gave him (Oluomo) opportunity to file his defence, but he failed in doing that.

Osho disclosed that Oluomo as a Speaker of the house, failed to give him and Kadiri fair hearing before suspending them.

According to Osho, "His only defence was that, the Assembly wasn’t given three months notice before going to court. How does that justify the “jestapo or coup-like” he used in suspending us (Myself and Hon Kadiri)".

"Did he too give us fair hearing? Were we given any notice before our suspension? Did he too give the Assembly 3 months notice before filing his court processes yesterday?"



While speaking about Oluomo EFCC case, Hon. Osho said "some of us refused to visit the EFCC office to identify our forged signatures, out of our respect for Mr Governor, and because the invite wasn’t addressed to us individually. So he should stop saying he took any “bullet” for me. If he says he is not the Accounting Officer, is he not the Approving Officer? Can the Clerk spend any money without his approval? Other members were invited by EFCC as witnesses, not as accomplices. The invite was to identify our signatures that he, Oluomo & Ckerk were alleged to have forged on payment receipts, but he used the Governor to block us from attending. And that is why he is facing his prosecution alone at the Federal High Court.

Following alleged corruption allegations hanging on her neck, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Kano State have asked President Bola Tinubu to replace the suspended minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu with Halimat Adenike Tejuosho.

They said the call has become imperative as Halimat is the most preferred candidate and qualified for the job.

The PWDs, consisting of the deaf, physically challenged, Albinos and others led by former Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on People With Disability, Adnan Ali Daneji, made the call while addressing journalists in Kano Sunday.

He said, “We commend the effort of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold step towards addressing matters that concern governance without compromise. The president’s unwavering resolve has brought sanity into the Nigeria polity and history will be kind to the chief promoter of the Renewed Hope agenda.

“Among the exemplary actions exhibited by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which has attracted commendation even by critics is the suspension of Betta Edu, from her position as minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation over misappropriation of funds meant for people like us who are disabled and finding it so hard to survive this period.

Hon. Kehinde Ayodeji Bello, popularly known as Kenny-Bello, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on his recent Supreme Court victory.


In a statement released by Kenny-Bello, he expressed his utmost appreciation for the Supreme Court's verdict and commended the judges for upholding the rules of law.

Yoruba Youths Council (YYC) has expressed their condolences to good people of Oyo and the State Governor Seyi Makinde over the loss of lives and property in the state due to explosion erupted in Ibadan on Tuesday night.

The group in a statement signed by the National President and the Publicity Secretary, Comrade Eric Oluwole and Saheed Adeola called for swift action to bring the perpetrators to book.

The statement reads "In the wake of the devastating explosion in Ibadan, the Yoruba Youths Council expresses heartfelt condolences to the affected families and the government of Oyo State. We stand in solidarity with the community during this difficult time."

"We call upon the relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the culprits responsible for this tragedy to justice."

The statement added that "It's necessary that those responsible are held accountable for their actions."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones and those who have been affected by this unfortunate incident. May they find strength and support in the midst of this tragedy.", YYC prayed.

A group, Patriotic Citizens for leadership and good governance Advocacy has passed vote of confidence on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ltd. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja for reinstituting integrity in the Army force.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has congratulated the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, over his reelection victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

Governor Uzodinma was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as Governor-elect on Sunday.

Uzodinma, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 540,308 votes to defeat his closest rival from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, who scored 71,503 votes just as the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Athan Achonu, came third with 64,081 votes.

The NANS Vice President, Special Duties, Senator Ahaneku Valentine Nzubechi in his congratulatory message made available to journalists noted that Uzodinma’s victory represents the verdict of the people that the incumbent governor performed well in office and thus deserves a second term.

A media aide to Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Comrade Ifekayode Akinbode has raised alarm over alleged threat to his life by yet-to-be identified persons over his political stance on issues in the state.

Comrade Akinbode who is a consultant to Governor Abiodun on media and publicity while narrating the ugly incident to our correspondent said ever since he escaped attack in February at his house before the general elections, his life has been in danger.

Governor Abiodun aide said the recent threats to his life were tied to his perceived role in the state politics.

He disclosed that some unidentified persons on motorcycle otherwise known as Okada issued a threat warning to him physically at Obada area of the State.

Comrade Akinbode hinted that the unknown people who are suspected to be political thugs trailed him to Obada junction when he was about to get down from his car.

According to him "those guys suddenly parked there Okada beside me immediately I parked my car to buy something, they greeted me, after my response, they said "Mr Man, we have map of your movement with us, we are not here today to hurt you, but to warn you on the government you always defending, our next coming is to silence you", the unknown guys said.


Comrade Akinbode therefore urged security agencies to take proactive action to prevent the ugly plan as his life and his family is no longer safe.

A socio-democratic group, Yewa young Frontliners has alleged that the Ogun State governorship candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party, Olufemi Ajadi lied under oath by pretending to be an indigene of the state.

The group in a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Adekunle Olatunji revealed that investigation conducted revealed that Ajadi was originally from Oyo State, alleging that he has no connection with Ogun to lay claim to the state as his state of origin.

Olatunji described the action of the NNPP guber candidate as scam and pretence to deceive people of the state.

While noting that the state has more than enough people to represent them, the group urged security agencies to investigate and prosecute the governorship candidate.

The statement read in part, "We discovered that there is a scam concerning one of the gubernatorial candidates for the 2023 election in Ogun State.

"Our findings revealed that the NNPP governorship candidate, Olufemi Ajadi is not from Ogun State neither is he from any Iyalode dynasty family in Ilaro.

"It is a scam for him to pretended and lie under oath that he is from Ogun State where findings have revealed that he is an indigene of Oyo State.

"Constitutionally, you can live in an area and contest election, but anybody that is contesting election for the post of a governor should not lie under oath and come to deceive the people of Ogun State.

"We want to call on the necessary agencies to investigate this matter and ensure he is being prosecuted for lying under oath.

"We also want to use this opportunity to warn him to stay clear from Ogun State affairs. If he is really passionate to be a governor, he should go back to Oyo where he came from and compete with Governor Seyi Makinde.

"We have more than enough capable people in Ogun State that can rule us, we don't need an outsider or a forger to be able to do that.”

All efforts to get the Chairman of NNPP, Olaposi Oginni was not successful, as he did not pick call or get back to this reporter as at the time this report was filed.

Suspected political thugs on Friday set ablazed the private residence of Comrade Ifekayode Akinbode, the Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on media and publicity.

The incident happened about 11:23pm on the said day, a week to the 2023 general elections.


It was gathered that yet-to-be-identified hoodlums in their numbers stormed the house, located at Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, the state capital and set the building ablaze.

As at the time of the arson, two persons who were believed to be security guards, are trapped inside the generator house.



Comrade Akinbode who also serve as the Secretary, public communication committee for Tinubu/Gov.Abiodun Campaign Organisation for the 2023 general elections confirmed the attack on Saturday.

The house was ridden with bullets and properties worth millions were destroyed by the hoodlums while Comrade Akinbode's wife, Remilekun Omoleye Akinbode and there children was at home when the attack took place was beaten and injured by the unmasked hoodlums.

Our correspondent, gathered that the hoodlums also threatened
Comrade Akinbode's wife that her husband would have been killed if they have met him at home over his active involvement in the state politics.


The attack, our correspondent learnt may not be unconnected to Comrade Akinbode who was also a former Special Assistant to former State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and also a spokesperson to Governor Abiodun, staunch defense of government anytime he was invited on both radio and television live programs.

While speaking from his hideout over the ugly incident, Comrade Akinbode who spoke with a trembling voice, said he was sad and shocked, adding that the attack was the second one in recent times.

He said sometimes 2022, he was attacked and his cars were destroyed which made him to be out of the state for about two months for safety and "this recent attacked really made me sad because I see no reason why people are playing politics with bitterness."

Comrade Akinbode said "It could be within the party or opposition parties because this is election period and anybody can hide under any political parties to launch that attack".

"I learnt my security guards were tied down throughout the operation and they were seriously beaten, both my security and my wife are in hospital for treatment, I actually don't know there condition but they're all in hospital now.

"They did this to me because I am a strong supporter of APC and I learnt they threatened to deal with me when they get hold of me."


"I have informed security operatives through the Commandant of Amotekun, the South-West Security Network, owned by the state government, Commandant David Akinremi and he promised to ensure that perpetrators of the evil acts were brought to book.

When our correspondent contacted Commandant David Akinremi for reaction, he said tactical team are currently working on the incident through the effort of Nigeria police, appealed to residents to also assist the police with useful information to get to the root of the matter and fully apprehend the hoodlums.

Abeokuta Transition chairman, shomide Leads 9 LG Aspirants To Inaugurates DACA For Gov Abiodun Second Term


Following the 2023 general elections in the country, In Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital yesterday, Nine Chairmanship Aspirants under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta South Local Government has launched Dapo Abiodun Continuity Agenda (DACA) with the mission to work for Governor Abiodun second term in Office.

The event was witnessed by the party faithfuls across all the wards in the local government  held at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, the state capital.

It would be recalled that the nine aspirants, Hon. Adedayo Okanlanwan Akintoye, Hon. Muiz Oladehinde Omitogun, Hon. Olujimi Adekunle, Hon. Damilare Olumide Tosin, Hon. Toyosi Abdulquasin Enilolobo, Hon. Mustapha Kodaolu Olajide, Barrister Ayodeji Kehinde, Hon. Saheed Balogun and Hon. Kelat unanimously stepped down their Chairmanship aspiration in favor of the incumbent Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Ayomide Shomide.

Speaking at event, The Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Ayomide Shomide appreciated the nine aspirants for their guesture, adding that it was a rare feat that has not been experienced in the Local Government since inception.

He however, admonished the party supporters to allow party supremacy in the selection of Hon. Omolaja Majekodunmi as the flag bearer, adding that the time for primaries is over.

"We have finished the primaries and the party have spoken. This is the time for us to rally round the party candidate and ensure APC comes out victorious in the forthcoming Local Government Elections", Shomide stressed

The event was however used to further mobilize support for the second term agenda of the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for 2023 Guber election.

In attendance at the event includes, Sen. Remilekun Bakare, FACO Group Chairman, Hon. Mutiu Balogun, and Prince Kayode Tejuosho amongst others.

AS part of activities marking her 45th birthday, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Women Affairs, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo has doled out educational items to 45 outstanding primary school pupils, with additional cash empowerment to another 45 petty traders across Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency.

Adeleye explained that the rationale behind the donations was to further give a sense of identification and reward to the students who were found to have performed excellently in their academics, while the cash support was to provide succor to small scale traders to improve their business activities.

In her separate remarks to the students, the former lawmaker said "I decided to donate these gifts of educational items as part of my resolve to encourage academic standards amongst you.

The awards took place on Friday 28 May and Saturday 29 May 2021 during royal African awards by royal African young leadership forum of his imperial majesty, Ooni of ife , arole oodua Olofin adimula held at oduduwa hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife, Osun state.

It was gathered that the 100 awardees where Mrs Olabode was singled out for the awards due to her efforts as a young woman of high repute and hardworking goal-oriented individual, who placed great value on her integrity .

The first class royal father, Oba Ogunwusi who is also the founder of RAYLF describe the awards as a celebration of achievement and dedication to duty.

Ogunwusi urged Yorubas to value their tradition and cultural heritage and to set up programmes that would engage youths and give them better hope.

According to him, the future of the nation lies in the hands of the young ones, and I urge them to handle their lives with care, for this will speak for their future.

He urged them to stop complaining but should utilise any opportunity given to them to attain greatness in life.

The traditional ruler charged Nigerian leaders to prioritise youths’ future and create good ideas that would benefit them, saying this would pave the way for a better Nigeria.

He also stated that youths remained the pillars of tomorrow and once the foundation is weak, there is danger for the future.

The royal father pledged his support for the awardees, urging them to lead by example and be good mentors for the younger ones to emulate.

President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, assured a brighter future for youths across the country.

President Buhari at the Second Edition of RAYLF said the present administration had tried its best to dish out different youth programmes by engaging them in one way or the other.

According to the President, the present administration has given chance for young ones to hold key political posts, contrary to past tenures.

Buhari ascertained that more than 50 per cent of youths would go for primary election in the upcoming local government chairmanship and councillorship elections in Lagos State.

He admonished them not to lose hope because government had set all materials in place to make life bearable for future generations.

Reacting, the music record label Chairman, who expressed her delight for the awards , promised to do more within her power to motivate the youths in Nigeria, West Africa, Africa and the world at large.
