CharlesCNG:
In response to thread, Where are the obidients megaphones of 2023,a n Obidient recently made the familiar claim that “all those you mentioned won’t bring 10 percent of the votes Kwankwaso would bring in the North.”

It sounds powerful until you place it beside the 2023 election results. Then the myth begins to collapse.

So let us leave emotion and enter arithmetic.

Is Kwankwaso a northern giant, or is he mainly a Kano colossus being mistaken for the whole North?

This begs the question: which North are we talking about — Kano North or Northern Nigeria?

In the 2023 presidential election, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso scored 1,496,687 votes nationally. But here is the uncomfortable truth: 997,279 of those votes came from Kano alone. That means roughly two-thirds of his total national vote came from one state. Kwankwaso won Kano with almost one million votes.

Now look beyond Kano.

Across the entire North-West, Kwankwaso scored 1,268,250 votes. Remove Kano’s 997,279, and he got only about 270,971 votes from the remaining six North-West states combined: Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara.

In the North-East, he scored only 126,343 votes. In the North-Central, including FCT, he scored only 60,056 votes.

So where exactly is this mythical “Kwankwaso will deliver the North” coming from?

Kwankwaso has value, no doubt. He has a strong Kano base. He has name recognition. He has Kwankwasiyya structure. But Kano strength is not the same thing as Northern conquest.

And here is the harder political question: if Kwankwaso, a Hausa/Fulani northern Muslim, could not win serious votes across most of the North while heading his own presidential ticket, how will he suddenly convince those same northern voters to troop out massively for a ticket headed by Peter Obi, a South-East Christian politician?

That is not ethnic hatred. That is electoral realism.

Historically, South-East presidential candidates have struggled to gain broad northern acceptance at presidential level. You may dislike that reality. You may call it unfair. You may blame civil-war memory, religious suspicion, elite propaganda, political mistrust or weak coalition-building. But serious politics begins by recognising voting patterns, not romanticising them.

Kwankwaso could not deliver Katsina. He could not deliver Kaduna. He could not deliver Sokoto. He could not deliver Zamfara. He could not deliver the North-East. He could not deliver the North-Central. But suddenly, as Obi’s number two, he will unlock the North like an ATM card?

Politics is not abracadabra.

A serious coalition counts votes. A fantasy coalition counts vibes.

So yes, Kwankwaso may help Obi in Kano. But anyone saying he will “deliver the North” is selling political suya without meat.

Kano is important. Kano is powerful. But Kano is not the North.
Whatever makes you feel better.

Politics › Re: Pro-Tinubu Group Holds 'Relax Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria' Rally In FCT (Pictures) by MrSly(m): 7:40pm On Jul 03
CharlesCNG:
This is exactly the problem with Obidients.

Every day, they tell themselves that Nigerians have totally rejected APC. They say Tinubu has no support. They say nobody will attend any pro-Tinubu event. They say APC is finished. They say the masses are waiting to revolt.

Then the moment a pro-Tinubu rally holds and ordinary people show up, they suddenly remember “stipends.”

That is their usual escape route.

If nobody comes out, they say APC is finished.

If people come out, they say they were paid.

The lesson Obidients should learn from APC is simple: elections are not won by social-media noise alone. Elections are won by structure, mobilisation, grassroots presence, voter awareness, local leaders, women groups, youth groups, polling-unit agents, community engagement and constant physical contact with voters.

While APC support groups are entering Lugbe, Kuje, markets, communities and area councils, many Obidients are still on Nairaland and X calling everybody hungry, foolish and deceived.

Then on election day, they will be shocked that the same people they insulted did not vote with them.

Politics is not only grammar.

Politics is mobilisation.

If you believe Nigerians have rejected APC, go and organise your own rally. Go and mobilise your own women. Go and gather your own youths. Go and engage communities. Go and register voters. Go and protect polling units.

But do not sit online insulting people who are doing grassroots work, then cry later that the election was stolen.

The truth is painful: APC understands ground game better than Obidients.

Obidients understand online outrage better than APC.

Unfortunately for them, INEC does not count insults.

INEC counts votes.
Look at those pictures. You would just get the answer most good Nigerians have been proclaiming, tinubu is rejected. Look how empty even your consolation rally is. A rally for a sitting president. Una no dey get shame for that APC.

Politics › Re: Why Are Obidients Attacking Adeboye? Intolerance Is Becoming Too Loud To Ignore. by MrSly(m): 9:04pm On Jul 01
CharlesCNG:
The recent attacks on Pastor Enoch Adeboye over his comments on insecurity and President Tinubu reveal something troubling about the Obidient movement: many of them do not merely disagree; they desecrate.

Pastor Adeboye’s point was not that Nigeria is secure. In fact, he admitted that insecurity has worsened and that terrorism and kidnapping have spread from the North into parts of the South. He also urged that security chiefs be given strict marching orders and that sponsors of terrorism should be dealt with. His only offence was saying that once a Commander-in-Chief gives instructions to security agencies, he should not be expected to personally wear khaki and go to the battlefield.

Reasonable people can debate that position. They can say the President must do more. They can argue that command responsibility must be measured by results, not merely by instructions. That is fair.

But what did some Obidients do? As usual, they entered abuse mode. Suddenly, Adeboye became the enemy. A man they once quoted when it suited them became useless because he did not echo their preferred political anger.

Worse still, some now accuse him of ethnic bias, suggesting that he is defending Tinubu simply because Tinubu is Yoruba. This is one of the oldest tricks in Nigerian politics: when you cannot answer a man’s argument, explain his ancestry.

Curiously, this accusation is never applied evenly. If a Yoruba criticises Tinubu, he is praised as courageous and objective. If another Yoruba supports Tinubu, he is dismissed as tribalistic. If a Yoruba elder supports Peter Obi, he is celebrated as detribalised and enlightened. But if a Yoruba pastor says something that does not condemn Tinubu in the language Obidients prefer, he is suddenly an ethnic apologist.

That is intellectual dishonesty.

People support or defend political positions for many reasons: conviction, ideology, policy preference, institutional understanding, personal experience, or yes, sometimes ethnicity. But it is lazy and dishonest to assume tribal motive only when the opinion favours the candidate you oppose.

The real question is not whether Tinubu is Yoruba. The real question is whether Adeboye’s argument is right or wrong. If you disagree, answer the argument. Do not hide behind ethnicity because the facts are inconvenient.

This is the deeper problem. To many Obidients, every institution must bow to their politics: church leaders, traditional rulers, courts, media houses, INEC, security agencies, intellectuals, activists — everybody must either worship at the altar of Obi or be insulted.

That is not democratic engagement. That is political intolerance wearing activism as perfume.

No society grows when every disagreement becomes a licence for abuse. You can disagree with Adeboye without insulting his age, his faith, his office, his ethnicity, or millions who respect him. But restraint is difficult for people who treat politics like a crusade.

The tragedy is that this behaviour keeps pushing decent people away from their cause. They claim to want a new Nigeria, but they attack every voice that refuses to sing from their hymn book.

If Pastor Adeboye must be corrected, correct him with argument.

But if your first response is abuse and ethnic labelling, then the problem is no longer Adeboye’s statement.

The problem is your intolerance.

For when a man cannot answer your argument, he often settles for explaining your tribe. And when facts become inconvenient, ethnicity becomes the emergency exit.
And this gibberish made it to front page. Anyways there is no more nairaland, just a shadow of it.

NYSC › Re: New NYSC Uniform, No More POP: 5 Key Changes Tinubu Is Bringing To NYSC by MrSly(m): 8:51pm On Jul 01
dododawa1:
Goodbye Khaki, POP: 5 Key Changes Tinubu Is Bringing To NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is getting its biggest shake-up since it started 53 years ago. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) just approved a massive overhaul to stop treating the scheme as just a year of paramilitary drills, turning it into a launchpad for actual careers.

According to the government, approved reforms will reposition the NYSC as a skills-driven, productivity-focused, and youth-empowering institution that aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of building a $1 trillion economy.

This reform journey began in 2025 through a broad-based, multi-stakeholder review involving the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the Federal Ministry of Education and the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination headed by Hadiza Bala Usman.

If you are a student, recent graduate, or parent, here are five ways the NYSC reforms will affect you.

1. Goodbye khaki, hello civilian leadership

The military is stepping back from running the day-to-day operations of the NYSC. A civilian administrator will now take charge, while the military shifts its focus entirely to keeping corps members safe. To match this professional shift, the iconic khaki uniform is being completely redesigned to look cleaner and more modern.

2. Six-week orientation camp

The traditional three-week camp is doubling to six weeks, and the daily schedule is changing completely:

Weeks 1–2: Civic education and national values.

Weeks 3–4: Financial literacy, career mapping, and business skills.

Weeks 5–6: Specialised tracks in tech, public service, farming or creative industries.

3. Primary assignment that actually matches your skill

No more sending engineering graduates to teach primary school math if they don’t want to. The new policy mandates that primary assignments must match your field of study. If you study software engineering, you will likely head straight into the newly created digital corps.

4. High-tech security placements

To address safety worries, the NYSC is launching a data-driven deployment system. It analyses security risks across the country in real-time, ensuring corps members are not sent into volatile or high-risk areas.

5. No more passing-out parade (POP)

The final march-past in the scorching sun is officially cancelled. Instead, your service year will end with a corporate graduation and career-networking event designed to connect you directly with employers.

When does this start?

The government is rolling these updates out in phases between 2026 and 2028, starting with immediate changes to the legal NYSC Act.
This is better than the old non impactive three weeks waste in camp.
Romance › Re: The Real Reason Women Move On So Fast After Breakups Will Piss You Off by MrSly(m): 8:43pm On Jul 01
Pukkalolo:
The day my first girlfriend left me, I thought my world had ended.

After one small argument, she sent the cold text: “I’m no longer interested.”

Just like that. Relationship over… Ah shocked

I was shattered. I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. I walked around like a dead man for months.

But do you know what truly destroyed me?

She moved on like I never existed. Like, within days this girl was already posting new guys on her status… smiling, laughing, looking happy and refreshed. While I was there dying in emotional pain.

So I went online to search: “Why do women move on faster than men after a breakup?”

The two answers I found sounded smart:

#1. “She already broke up with you emotionally long before she left you.”

#2. “Women cry freely, talk to friends/family about it, and process their feelings faster.”

I believed that nonsense.

Until life proved it wrong with real experience.

After dealing with more women, I discovered the uncomfortable truth:

She moved on so easily because she never invested anything serious in me.

Especially FINANCIALLY.

Think about it.

If a woman was spending her own money on you… paying for things, investing in your life, giving you financial support…do you think she would bounce back like nothing happened?

Hell No.

She would be in serious pain. She would probably even drag the breakup for months or years, constantly reminding herself, “After all I did for this guy…”

But when she has zero financial investment? She walks away light. Zero losses. Off to the next simp...

Imagine a sinking ship.

The people who panic, fight, cry, and do everything possible to save it are the ones who put their money into it: THE INVESTORS.

The passengers who just bought a ticket? They simply jump into the next available boat with zero sorrow. They lose nothing.

Your relationship is that ship.

If she never invested real money in it… then to her, the relationship is just a cruise. Nice while it lasted. When turbulence comes, she jumps ship easily and boards the next one with fresh excitement.

Be wise brothers…
Not. Always true. Some who did not invest don't easily move on. So you are 99.99999999999% correct and 0.000000000001% wrong.

Social media activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has faulted the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over remarks defending President Bola Tinubu’s handling of insecurity.

Adeboye, speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington on June 23, said Tinubu had “done his bit” by giving directives to the military and should not be blamed for worsening security challenges.

The cleric added that when a commander-in-chief issues instructions, “he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and (fight).”

The activist shared clips of news reports in national dailies from May 5, 2010 and October 11, 2010 showing Adeboye criticising then-President Goodluck Jonathan’s handling of insecurity.

The headline of the lead story of a national daily (not Daily Sun) from May 5, 2010, shared by the critic read, “Adeboye petitions Jonathan over rising kidnappings”.

“Pastor Enoch Adeboye just wants to turn a blind eye because Tinubu is the President. Weren’t you the one in this video protesting years ago with a placard? This is just tribal bigotry,” he said in a video shared on Instagram on Wednesday.

May God have mercy on this pastor. His comment tantamount to evil upon good people of Nigeria. If the only thing a commander in chief can do is to give order and don't know how to ensure his orders are carried out then he is incapacitated and should step aside instead of depending on pastors who are now blinded by ethnic sentiments to defend the indefensible.

If critics believe the current administration is on the wrong path, what specifically would they do differently regarding:

Security and counter-insurgency strategy?

Building and protecting foreign reserves?

Fuel subsidy removal and its fiscal consequences?

Increasing crude oil production and reducing oil theft?

Development of the Niger Delta?

Infrastructure financing and project execution?

Public debt management?

Debt servicing and fiscal sustainability?

Foreign exchange stability?

Student loan programmes?

Stability of the academic calendar?

Resolution of ASUU-related issues?

Doubling the national minimum wage?

Capital market development and wealth creation?

Attracting foreign direct investment?

No administration is perfect, and many Nigerians continue to face significant economic hardship. However, several of these reforms are structural in nature and may take years before their full benefits become visible. The more important debate is not whether challenges exist, but whether there are better, practical alternatives to the reforms currently being implemented.
