NORTH EAST BECOMING UNBEARABLE TO TERRORISTS AS TROOPS INTENSIFY CLEARANCE OPERATIONS, *Neutralise 3 terrorists
*Capture 2 Gun Trucks
*2 Anti Aircraft Guns and
*1 Motorcycle

Following sustained robust and aggressive clearance operations, in recent days, troops had recorded tremendous successes in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East. Dozens of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters were annihilated, large cache of assorted arms, ammunition and so many variants of gun trucks and other fighting vehicles were captured.

Additionally and most importantly, the operation resulted in the rescue and eventual liberation of over 100 women and children from the grip of the criminals/terrorists.

Therefore, in order to consolidate on the numerous
successes so far achieved, the rugged troops of 112 Task Force Battalion deployed at Mafa in Borno State had effectively dealt ruthlessly with members of BHTs/ISWAP terrorists in Mafa, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State, when some terrorists attempted to attack Mafa on 24 June 2019.

The terrorists failed attack on Mafa was as a result of available intelligence indicating the desperate longing for food and other logistics by terrorists necessitated by the recent, incredibly tireless and ferocious troops' operational exploits.

During the failed attack, terrorists in 5 gun trucks and several motor cycles were seen. Consequently, the troops reacted swiftly with heavy fire power forcing the terrorists to scamper for their dear lives, and recovered 2 Gun Trucks mounted with Anti Aircraft Guns and a motorcycle and the extermination of three (3) terrorists. There were indications that some of the insurgents members were wounded in an exchange of fire.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu had since visited the conflict location with reinforcement.

While being conducted round the camp to assess the situation, the GOC urged the troops to remain focus and not to be carried away by the successes. He directed them to redouble their efforts and doggedly maintain the momentum until they win the war on terrorism for Nigeria through total victory against the bandits.

Similarly, he assured them of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai's continued appreciation and support in the collective struggle to crush the insurgency.

SportsAFCON 2019: Super Eagles Protest Over Unpaid Bonuses by Mrsoundoro(op): 2:32pm On Jun 25, 2019
Super Eagles players boycotted Tuesday’s pre-match conference and could boycott Tuesday evening’s training.

Nigeria’s preparation for Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tie with Guinea suffered a setback as a bonus row took centre stage.

The Super Eagles laboured to a hard-fought win over Burundi in their first game and could earn a ticket to the Round of 16 should they triumph over the National Elephants in Alexandria.

However, Gernot Rohr’s men went on to complain about their unpaid bills.

Ahmed Musa failed to show up for Tuesday’s pre-match conference ahead of the Guinea match, but the Al-Nassr player preferred to stay back with his colleagues for a ‘crucial’ player’s meeting at the Helnan Palestine Hotel.

"The player showed solidarity and had to stay back for an important meeting,” said coach Rohr when quizzed by the media.

Unpaid bonuses are not new in Nigerian football. First, it was the Nigeria U20 team who embarked on a sit-in protest and refused to leave Poland after their elimination from the Fifa U20 World Cup in Russia.

Recently, the Nigeria women’s senior national team, which was kicked out of the Women’s World Cup in France, declined to leave their hotel until all outstanding bonuses were paid – a claim the NFF denied, insisting Thomas Dennerby’s ladies were not owed.

Epic is a pretty slang term now used among young people, for example I would say. "Damn, that was EPIC!" ... It's not really true slang, meaning it means something other than the original meaning.

PoliticsSuicide: Nigeria Federal Government Bans ‘sniper’ Chemical by Mrsoundoro(op): 3:42pm On Jun 22, 2019
The Nigerian government has placed a ban on the manufacturing of small bottles of ‘Sniper’, an agro-chemical that has increasingly become a choice killer for persons contemplating suicide.

The Punch Newspaper reported that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control said the ban became necessary because of the recent wave of suicide cases across the country has been linked to the intake of Sniper.

This is coming days after the agency said it may direct a change in the packaging of sniper as part of plans to discourage the use of agro-chemical as a tool for suicide.

Many Nigerians have been calling on the government to check the proliferation of, and ease to access to, sniper because of its wrong use.

Sniper can be picked up easily on the streets as they are sold openly in the market.

“We have also placed a ban on the manufacture of smaller packs of Sniper which are easily purchased for household use,” Husman Bukar, the Director, Veterinary Medicine and Allied Products Directorate, NAFDAC was quoted as saying in the report.

“Recently, some suicide cases have been associated with people drinking Sniper. Henceforth, we call on the agro-chemical industry to enhance their distribution channels so that this product (Sniper) gets to only accredited distributors and marketers.”

PoliticsN450m Fraud: EFCC Re-arraigns Ex Minister, Wakil, Four Others by Mrsoundoro(op): 7:00am On Jun 19, 2019
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 re-arraigned a former Minister of State for Power, Muhammad Wakil and four others before Justice J.K. Dagad of the Federal High Court, Maiduguri, Borno State on a seven-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and money laundering to the tune of N450million.

Wakil is standing trial alongside Garba Abacha, Ibrahim Shehu Birma, Dr. Abubakar Ali Kullima and Engr. Muhammad Baba Kachalla.

They are alleged to have received the said sum from the $115million disbursed by a former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke to influence the outcome of the 2015 presidential election.

Count one reads: “That you, Hon. Muhammad Wakil, Garba Abacha, Ibrahim Shehu Birma, Dr. Abubakar Ali Kullima and Engr. Muhammad Baba Kachalla on or about the 26th day of March, 2015 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did agree among yourselves to do an illegal act, to wit: conspiracy to commit money laundering and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended)”.

They pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

Counsel for the EFCC, Benjamin Manji, prayed the court for a date for commencement of trial.

Thereafter, Justice Dagad adjourned the matter to November 5, 2019.

The trial judge also granted them bail on the earlier terms and conditions previously granted them by Justice Muhammad Salihu of a Federal High Court, Maiduguri, Borno State.

It will be recalled that they were initially arraigned before Justice Salihu on July 2, 2018 before his retirement from service, which necessitated the need for the case to be re-assigned to a new judge and to start de novo.
