The Maiduguri Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, September 26, 2019 arraigned one Adam Kaka Adam before Justice Ibrahim Jauro of the Yobe State High Court, Damaturu, on one-count charge, bordering on criminal misappropriation to the tune of N11, 657, 500.00 (Eleven Million Six Hundred and Fifty-seven Thousand Five Hundred Naira).

Adam was a former Service Manager, in charge of Vault Room and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Unity Bank Plc, Damaturu Branch, Yobe State.

Trouble started for him when the EFCC received a petition against him from his employer (Unity Bank Plc), alleging criminal misappropriation of the said sum, meant to be fed the ATM machines of the branch which he is alleged to have dishonestly converted to his personal use.

The charge reads: “That you, Adam Kaka Adam, while being the Branch Service Manager with Unity Bank Plc, Damaturu, Yobe State, in charge of the Vault Room and Automated Teller Machines (ATM), sometime in 2017 at Damaturu, Yobe State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court and in such capacity dishonestly took the sum of N11, 657, 500.00 (Eleven Million Six Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand Five Hundred Naira) only, being the property of Unity Bank Plc without its consent and with intention of permanently depriving it of the said sum and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Sections 286(1) and 287 of the Penal Code Law, Laws of Yobe State of Nigeria respectively.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Following his plea, prosecution counsel Khalid Sanusi prayed the court for a trial date and for the defendant to be remanded in prison custody.

Justice Jauro admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1million with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter to October 15, 2019 for commencement of trial.

In its war against internet fraud, operatives of the Cyber Crime Section at the Abuja Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Tuesday September 24, 2019 raided the residence of suspected yahoo-yahoo fraudsters and arrested four of them at Plot 1202 News Engineering Estate, Dawaki, Abuja.

The raid followed covert intelligence gathering and surveillance.

The suspects arrested are Osasu Fred Akioyamem, Ehis Ehizoghie Egheomwan, Chukwuemeka Chanimuya and Oris Karim

In the course of the operation, some of the items recovered include mobile phones, laptop computers, and a Mercedes C350. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are complete.

Thankfully, Mr Otedola is taking care of the hospital bill fully and this has thrown Nigerians across the world into fits of joy.

Apparently, they have not forgotten so soon how the businessman extraordinaire spent N36,635,000 for the medical bills of former captain and coach of the Super Eagles, Christian Chukwu.

Otedola has also reportedly taken up the medical expenses of ailing Nollywood actor, Sadiq Daba.

In 2017, Sadiq Daba, who had been battling leukaemia and prostate cancer for the past few years, returned to Nigeria from the UK where he went for medical treatment. The ace broadcaster also revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November 2017. This was barely months after he was hospitalised due to leukaemia.

In its war against internet fraud, officers of the Cyber Crime Section at the Abuja Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, September 9, 2019 raided the residences of suspected yahoo-yahoo fraudsters at House 16 Yashin Dogara News Engineering, Dawaki, Abuja.

In the same vein, arrests were carried out on the 13th of September at Nepa Road, Phase 4, Kubwa and at No 18 Samuel Crescent, Dantata Estate Kubwa, Abuja.

The raid followed covert intelligence gathering and tip offs from already arrested suspects.

The suspects arrested are Iloh Joseph and Emeka Jonathan.

In the course of the operation, some of the items recovered include mobile phones, laptop computers, and a Toyota corolla.

The suspects are cooperating with the Commission. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Youths in Sapele and its environs on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 staged a peaceful protest in support of the efforts of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to rid Delta State and the entire country of cybercrimes and other forms of economic and financial crimes.

The youths under the aegis of "Save Sapele Group" in their hundreds carried banners and placards bearing various messages such as "Sapele Say No to Crime, Yahoo, Yahoo, Kidnapping and Internet Fraud." Others carried placards with messages: "Say No to Corruption," “Protect our Youths, Daughters and Sisters - Say No to Yahoo Yahoo " “Say No to 419" and many more. They also wore T-shirts with inscriptions condemning internet fraud popularly known as yahoo yahoo.

The youths in their message said the protest was to condemned the activities of some misguided elements who engages in despicable activities such as internet fraud, cybercrimes and Kidnapping in Sapele. "We don't want yahoo, Yahoo. We don't want internet fraud, we say no to 419 and ritual killing". They said Sapele Town was for commendable activities and not condemnable act or criminalities.

Today's protest in support of the Commission is coming few days after some youths in the area staged a protest on Saturday, September 14, 2019, against operatives of the EFCC for arresting some suspected internet fraudster at their hideout in Sapele.
