The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has extended the restriction of movement in Lagos and Ogun States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by 14 more days.

He made this announcement in a nationwide broadcast on Monday, 13th April, 2020.

He noted that the extension would be effective from 11:59 pm on Monday and urged Nigerians to cooperate with the government in the fight against COVID-19.

Explaining why he took the decision, the President stated that it was important to curb the spread of the disease through community transmission.

President Buhari believes the restriction of movement, as well as physical distancing measures and prohibition of mass gatherings have remained the most effective ways of curbing the spread of coronavirus.

He further urged Nigerians to notify the relevant authorities if they or loved ones develop any symptoms....

In reaction to the extension of the lockdown which was announced on the 11th of April by the Federal Government to further manage the Coronavirus outbreak, some irresponsible youths have decided to seize the opportunity to cause terror in some neighborhoods situated in Lagos.

According to a post shared by Twitter user, Danny Walter on the microblogging and social networking platform, the affected areas are; Alagbado, Agbado, ijaiye, Abule Egba, Agege, Ogba, Akute, Ota, Sango.

He also revealed that the residents in some of the above neighborhoods turned to Vigilante to secure the area as all attempts to get help from Lagos Police proved abortive.

Aproko Doctor on twitter also gave his own report of the situation saying;


"Areas around Abule-Egba were robbed today in broad day light. Shops looted, armed robbers on the prowl.

We had to close the hospital gates for fear of being harmed also.
People have reached breaking point. Its between a virus and increasing crime."....

There is an ongoing argument that tries to justify the actions of the robbers, claiming the extension of the lockdown pushed them to the act as they are trying to survive.

Nigerians are starting to panic as the Coronavirus which has killed thousands of people globally continues to spread around the nation, hitting more states.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Anambra and Niger states have recorded their first cases of the Coronavirus each on Friday, 11th April making the total confirmed cases, 305.

NCDC made this announcement on their official Twitter page.

According to NCDC’s statistics, the virus has spread to 19 states in the country.....

Covid19 Lockdown: Delta Police Officers Captured Assaulting Old Man, Seize Bike, For Going To Buy What Kids Would Eat (Video)

An elderly family man was given the chase of his life by the Delta Police officers after he was caught coming back from the market on his bike.

According to the elderly man, he went to the market to purchase what he would use to feed his family when Police men sighted him.

He was chased into a home and eventually caught after which they beat him up and seized his bike.

While narrating what happened to the onlookers, the old man revealed the contents of his nylon bag and truly they were food items, Fufu and soup ingredients.

As at 10:30 pm on April 3rd, the NCDC reported 20 new cases in Nigeria.

In Lagos, 3 in FCT, 3 in Edo, 2 in Osun and 1 In Ondo.

Ondo state has recorded it’s first case of COVID-19, with that of Lagos and FCT notably on the rise.

The current number of confirmed cases is now 210, while 25 people have been discharged and we have also recorded 4 deaths according to the official site of the NCDC on Twitter.

A Nigerian man identified as ID Okorie on Facebook has taken to the platform to share his experience in the hands of an ungrateful Lady who insulted him for giving her N10,000 cash gift to stock up her house amid the Cororvirus lockdown.

ID Okorie revealed on his Facebook page that he’d budgeted an amount of money to be disbursed to those in need because of the lockdown declared by the Federal government to combat the Corona virus pandemic.

He stated also that while majority of the beneficiaries who received tokens in 10k, 5k, 4k divisions were totally grateful for his gesture, one of them however showed vile ingratitude which had him come on social media to rant.

According to him, one Uche Nilla Amechi who he says got the sum of 10k from him was quite ungrateful over the amount that she took to his DM to slam him for the gesture.
He revealed that he’d initially spoken with her on the phone where she was nagging about the money and he out of disgust, dropped the call.

Taking to her Twitter page to share her experience, Oluwaseun Ayodeji Osowobi disclosed that she contracted the disease during a post-Commonwealth event in the United Kindgom.

Delta state police has arrested an 18-year-old teenager identified as Kelvin Uzor, for the alleged killing of his brother’s identical twins for money-making ritual on March 6, 2020, in Oko Ogbele, Delta State.

Accroding to the Police, Uzor killed the seven-year-old twin boys, then removed their p£nis, eyes, tongues and hands, which he hurriedly took to a native doctor in Anambra State.

Kelvin, however, has denied killing the twins, insisting that it was his friend, one Onuwa Olisah, who killed them.

Incidentally, Onuwa’s 11-year-old brother, Iweka Olisah, has also confessed to seeing his elder brother with a bloodied machete.

Kelvin said that his only crime was in attending the meeting with Onuwa and others, where they deliberated on how to carry out money making ritual. He claimed to have backed out of the devilish plan at the last minutes.

The singer explained that he returned from America recently after canceling his tour while his wife and son also came back from London recently.

Even though they had no symptoms and felt fine but due to their recent travel history, they decided to go for Covid-19 test on the 25th of March including all their close contacts they've come in contact with, all 31 in number.

Unfortunately his fiancee, Chioma's result came back positive while that of their son, Ifeanyi, himself and the rest came back negative......

The administrator of Bethlehem Girls College, Abule Ado, Reverend Sister Henrietta Alokha, who died while saving her students has been laid to rest in Atani -Uromi, Edo state amidst tears.

Recall Mimi's Blog reported that an explosion rocked Abule-Ado area around Festac town in Amuwo Odofin Local Government area of Lagos State on Sunday morning, 15th March 2020, destroying countless properties and houses including a boarding school, taking lives including that of school kids and leaving many badly Injured.

Rev. Sis Alokha was among those who was assisting in saving the trapped students under her care but unfortunately, when it was time for her to leave, the roof caved in on her and she couldn't make it out alive.

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, 55, has reportedly tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.

He has mild symptoms and will self-isolate in Downing Street BBC reports.

A statement released to that regard said;
“He was tested for coronavirus on the personal advice of England’s chief medical officer, Professor Chris Whitty,”

"He will still be in charge of the government’s handling of the crisis", the statement added.

Prince of Wales, Prince Charles has reportedly contracted the deadly corona virus after meeting coronavirus-stricken Prince Albert of Monaco, who tested positive.

The 71-year-old fell ill just a fortnight after he sat opposite Prince Albert of Monaco at a WaterAid event in London on March 10, 2020

Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari has tested positive to the deadly Corona virus.

He was at a meeting on containing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria all through Sunday, where he reportedly started to cough.

Subsequently, he voluntarily submitted himself for testing and was informed of his status yesterday, 23rd March 2020.

Following a test for the disease that was carried out yesterday on the president by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)which necessitated after his Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari has tested negative for the COVID-19 virus also known as Coronavirus.

The NCDC has informed the president on the outcome his negative result this morning in Abuja.

Kyari had travelled to Germany on Saturday, March 7th to meet with officials of Siemens in Munich on the Nigerian electricity expansion programme.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed early Tuesday that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases across Nigeria has risen to 40

This is coming after five new cases were diagnosed late on Monday which increased the previous 30 confirmed cases to 35.

The new cases were reported on the health agency’s situation report dashboard and its Twitter handle, @NCDCgov.

Two of the four cases were confirmed in travellers who just returned to the country.

Of the 40 cases, 28 had travel history to high-risk countries in the last two weeks.

A breakdown of the current cases shows that three of the cases were diagnosed in Lagos State and one in Abuja.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC, Nigeria has unfortunately recorded its first death from the devastating ongoing coronavirus pandemic

The public health agency on its Twitter handle @NCDCgov said the first Covid-19 death recorded is a 67 year old male who returned home following medical treatment in the UK.

The 67-year-old deceased had underlying medical issues and was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.

The patient, Suleiman Achimugu, former managing director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), died at 2am on Monday, 23rd March 2020.

Achimugu, a native of Kogi state, was said to have returned from the United Kingdom two weeks ago.

He was said to have started exhibiting the symptoms of the virus on Tuesday and the case was reported to the NCDC who took his blood sample for a test.

The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nigeria now stands at 30, with three cases freshly discovered in Lagos as revealed by the federal government on Sunday 22nd March.


The new cases were confirmed on Sunday evening on twitter by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), .


NCDC tweeted saying;


“Three new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Lagos, Nigeria. 2 cases are returning travellers and 1 is a contact of a confirmed case.”


“As at 05:28 pm on the 22nd of March, there are 30 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with no deaths."


According to the Lagos State Ministry of Health in an earlier update on the new cases, one of the three new patients is a 51-year-old Briton who arrived Nigeria on March 8 via BA75 flight.


The second patient is a Nigerian who returned on March 14 through a connecting flight; KL0582 London -Amsterdam / KL0587 Amsterdam – Lagos.
