Of course she's good, but she had a slow start. Today's her best performance.
Slow start to competition or today match... The team itself always start slow except today

I also felt Dillard should have won MVP instead of Amy...she literally drag Senegal along in knock-out phases especially against Cameroon and Mali...

These girls showed grit.

Balogun and Okoro peaked just at the right time. On the day Amy and Taiwo didn't have the best gamez they rose to the occasion.

Congratulations Nigeria.

Really proud of the girls.
I think Balogun has always been good...she was exceptional and probably our best player in the Semi-final....

Thank you,Good lady, for educating us on the Yul's marriage brouhaha. We now know better.

Yul is a spoilt child with obsession for women.

Indeed, God will judge him for disappointing his wife,May,who laboured with him during formative years of their marriage.
Good will judge you too for judging him even though as an African man he is entitled to Polygamy as long as he can afford it...

I should also add that most of the guards I mentioned earlier are young and will still be playing for at least the next 10 years. Arike also stands shoulder to shoulder with all of them in scoring. The only reason she wouldn't make the USA team is mostly coach's preference and her deficit in defence.
I get you... you really rate her...

You should know am just looking for reasons why she should be Ours and not for Uncle Sam that could probably already has like a dozens of Arike ( talent_wise) in College....

I get you, however I'm saying in the scheme of things, those players you mentioned though good aren't even in the conversation.

The top college guard in the US right now is Caitlin Clarke by a mile, followed by Cameron Brink, Halley Van Lith, Paige Buickers. They are already top picks for the 2024 draft should they decide to enter.

Arike however will still play ahead of any of them bar maybe Clarke who will give her a run for her money.

Yes, what am saying is by time when Loyd and Plum are done.... Van Lith, Donarski and others would have been polished pro which would create more issue for her later in future... Donarski stat as a rookie is scary...

Those names aren't even who Arike is battling with. They haven't even gone pro yet and if they were the ones in question Arike wouldn't have a problem. She's a guard and the US have too many guards right now the competition will be stiff.

You have Jewel Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray, Sabrina Ionescu, Jackie Young, Alisha Grey and Rhyne Haword to mention a few. I haven't even included Diana Turasi and Skyler Diggins Smith who are veterans for team USA and haven't retired.

To be fair, she's currently having a monster season, but so are the guys I highlighted above, many of whom have already featured for team USA so including them again wouldn't be a problem. I understand her need to want to play for the USA instead of Nigeria, but Nigeria offers her the easiest way to fulfil her national team dreams and also claim legendary status. I also understand the NBBF isn't making this decision easy for athletes with their unprofessionalism.
I get bro, yes they are in college buh you need to see how the likes of ESPN and others are calling them the future already... Donarski is a Guard shooting 3s with staggering 87% accuracy and she is not polished yet... That means when Loyd and Plum are done there will even be bigger problems in Dornaski, Celeste Taylor,Rogers and Others to come....

Arike is not even in their last World cup roster which is a lesser competition to Olympics as far US basketball culture is concerned....

You raised poignant points.

However Nneka Ogwumike is already 33, so like Macaulay, she may not be all that helpful to the future of the team.

I doubt whether Arike is interested since she has been hustling to be part of the US team. Maybe she would express interest if she is overlooked for the umpteenth by the US coaches.

Michaela and Queen are more likely that Arike to switch to Naija
I feel the lure of Olympics might seem too tempting for Arike to switch side to Greens....US is a talent factory with new star burgeoning every other day with their media now raving about Van Lith, Aneesha Morrow, Betts and Donarski... She go wait tire...

Arike needs to wise up now before she reaches 30+ like the Ogwumike sisters...

Am glad buh decision making has to improve... at 51-49, we had about 2 tries for 3 pointer and we missed on a bounce instead of passing to better placed players for a 2...thereby turning over possession needlessly...

We will roast Rwanda despite their home court advantages...

Now we need a decent 4th quarter... 47-43 now we lead...

The problem with this team is lack of guards. The guards that are there are sadly below par. Really hope we at least make the finals so we get the chance to correct our mistakes during the Olympics qualifiers

Nigeria 29
Mozambique 33

We have turned the ball over 16 times. It's just crazy.

Our mediocre offense also hurting us

Going to be difficult but hoping we win.
Remember me saying this turnovers are problems an half decent side would exploit...

Senegal isn't out enemy. They are bad. Mozambique that we'll play later today is even better than Senegal in my opinion.

Mali however is the team to beat. They are the only worthy contender in my opinion.
For me Senegal ball handling and techniques is good buh they seem not suited to play dirty or hussle for second ball and this is Africa, watch the Cameroon ladies body-check them...they seem like the Clippers and 76ers of last season...

Glad the likelihood of meeting them won't be until the final. That team is a very good team.

The only other team we should be wary off (and may likely meet) is Uganda if they deal with Rwanda.
the Rwandans have come a long way and shows lot of potentials and I see them getting past the Ugandans....

Moreso we might have lot of problems with the Ugandans considering their physical style of play ( Did you watch their match against Mali, they bully the Malians staying "neck-to-neck' until toward the end of the first half)...

I personally prefer Rwanda.

They took Mali to the wire too yesterday. So not surprised at their performance so far. Currently leading by 1 point. They may just win this game.
The way they are dominating the second ball at both ends remind me of early insanely motivated King James...

I am interested in this game . The Senegalese had to bring Astou Traore out of retirement. The Egyptian ladies will give DTigress a tough time tomorrow. We need to take the game to the Egyptians tomorrow. I believe in this crop of Dtigress players though. What is the situation with Lauren Ebo? I don't believe she came all the way to camp in Abuja, only not to feature for Nigeria in Kigali .
These Ugandans am seeing are bully... what they lacked in technical abilities they make up for it Physically... especially when it comes to second ball and rebounds..
