It's not as though it will happen every time, circumstances may warrant that. Anyway, thanks for you contribution

Even for N1bn, I won’t
Solomon Matthew

One truth that I have come to realise in life is that
money doesn’t solve problems. Ideas and the
application of one’s creativity are the solutions to
man’s problems. Why would I give my wife to another
man to sleep with because of money? I cannot do it.
No matter how poor I am, I cannot do it – even for
N1bn. Those who can do such a thing can as well do
anything evil to make money. As for me, it is better to
die poor as an upright man than die rich as an
unscrupulous one.

I’ll not allow it
Nwachukwu Bella

My husband is like gold that I cherish so much and I
won’t let a ‘baby mama’ somewhere do that to him. I
believe it’s only when a woman does not make her
husband feel loved that the man will go outside. When
there is true love, money doesn’t dictate how couples
react to situations. It’s an ungodly act. I can’t let my
spouse sleep secretly with another woman for money
not to talk of in my very presence. I will just commit
suicide, or let’s say that’s an exaggeration, I will
simply quit the marriage. Any man that chooses
money over a woman’s love is not worthy of living
with.

It’s slavery mentality
Oyelade Eyitayo

That idea is sickening and it can never occur to me.
That’s like selling my wife. It is a slavery mentality.
Anything you sell and then get back again would have
lost its value. To be sincere, I can never love my life
like I used to if that should happen. Perhaps we need
someone’s help and he asked for my wife to sleep with
him, to hell with his money. I would rather die than
subject my wife to such a thing. But if she wants to do
it, she can, but she should know that that is the end of
our marriage.

It’s shameful
Timi Sumbiri

This is not only a disgusting act, but it tells of the loss
of virtue among some people. Why should you ask
another woman’s husband to sleep with you before you
can offer any form of help? I will not let my husband
do it; he dare not even think of it. But wait a minute,
what if the woman is not asking to do it in my
presence and my husband doesn’t even tell me? It’s a
complicated issue, but I just pray one will not fall into
that kind of temptation.

I can’t do it
Taiwo Olufemi

No matter the situation I’m in, I cannot do it. Any man
that wants to do such a thing to my wife is evil. It’s
lack of moral values that would make a man request
for such. Even for the wealth and riches of the whole
world, I will never let my wife do such. I even trust her,
she is not a cheap woman and I am also not a cheap
man. You know it’s in situations like that that your
brain starts booting of ideas. We are going to find out
what to do to get out of that situation and hopefully, if
we work hard, we are going to make it too. Only
desperation and worthlessness will make people fall
for that kind of money.

Money isn’t my lord
Oloruntomi Adeleke

I don’t need such money. The things that men do to
have money at times make me wonder whether they
don’t have conscience. How could you want to sleep
with my husband because we probably need a favour
from you? That’s an insult on my husband and me. I’ll
encourage my husband to let us keep working hard
and think smartly so that we can make our own money
without having to be insulted by one ‘sugar mummy’
out there. Moreover, anyone that wants such a thing
from another person’s spouse is perhaps a ritualist.

I can’t sell my wife
Tobi Goke

That’s like going into bondage with my eyes wide
open. It is definitely not possible. I like money and I
think everybody does, but to go to an extent of letting
another man have sex with my wife in my presence is
what I can never do. I will never sell my wife.
Whatever we need the money for will have to wait
until we find someone who will genuinely help us. If
such help never comes, it’s all good. We cannot allow
a mere man steal our home because of money.

It can never happen
Oluwadara Akinbola

Even without my husband, I can make much more
money than that if I put my potentials to use let alone
when both of us put our heads together. Seriously,
only lazy and desperate folks would fall for that kind
of temptation. Men are tempted out of their own
inordinate desires. Maybe that kind of request will
propel me to think and work harder, who knows? But
to let another woman sleep with my ‘own body’ (my
husband) is something that can never happen.

Only if our marriage is money-oriented
Biebele Kiakubu

I will do it if our marriage is only money-oriented in the
first place. You know it happens. A couple could marry
each other to further their career or business
ambitions, not necessarily because they love each
other. I have seen many cases like that. Likewise, if I
have a wife who is interested in the deal, I will let her
do it. We’ll both share the money. However, if I have a
real wife, someone I truly love, I can kill a man who
wants to sleep with her for money because that’s even
a bigger sin than adultery.

Let him decide
Rhodaline Mieseigha

The decision to sleep with another woman because of
money is mainly that of my husband. Of course, I am
not saying I am going to agree or disagree, but you
can never predict or tell what a man should do. My
husband has his own conscience; if it pleases him to
do it, there is nothing I can do stop him. We’ve all
heard about men that carry women to their
matrimonial rooms, so what does that say? But one
thing is, if it ever happens, it means I’ll kiss my
husband goodbye.
FamilyWill You Let Someone Sleep With Your Spouse For N10m? - (See Responses) by msmon(op):
Situations could make people do things they would
ordinarily not do and it’s not only in movies that such
things happen. Saturday PUNCH learned of the case of
a couple who wanted to start a business in Lagos but
had no money to do so. They approached a
businessman for help and his only condition to bail
them out was to sleep with the man’s wife. He even
said the man could witness the scene. Some Nigerians
were asked if they would let someone sleep with their
spouses in their presence for N10m.

EducationThose Clamouring For New States, LGs Are Insane – Ex. Kaduna Gov. by msmon(op):
Former Military Governor of Kaduna State, Colonel
Abubakar Dangiwa Umar, (rtd) yesterday blamed
State governments finding it difficult to pay salaries
of workers for their woes.

In a statement he signed and titled, ‘Insolvent
State’, Umar also faulted the Military for causing
this current financial mess by creating some states
which were not economically viable but only
dependent on the federal government.

Umar, who is also the Chairman, Movement for
Unity and Progress, urged President Muhammadu
Buhari to ensure that he was not hoodwinked by
the governors by accepting any bail-out, just as he
asked the President to discourage frequent rush to
the Presidential villa by the governors who visit to
demand for help.

The statement read in full, “The current desperate
financial situation of most State government or at
least those of them that have declared insolvency,
is a nightmare long foretold. And not only by the
cassandras of this world. We had cause to warn
about the reckless extravagance of those states
which led them to a borrowing spree from
commercial banks at very high rates of interest.

“In reaction to our alert, the state governors tried
to defend their actions, claiming they were all
deliberate plan to finance development projects
needed to raise internally generated revenue; a way
to cut dependence on oil money.

“No one was fooled, and as we expected, the
chickens have finally come home to roost. Most of
the states have become insolvent having lost the
capacity to meet their most basic fiscal
responsibility of paying their workers salaries. They
are also unable to pay their contractual obligations
including the servicing of their jumbo bank loans.

“Faced with this dire financial situation they are
running from pillar to post in search of rescue.
They have so far approached the FGN with an ill
thought out bail out plan, requiring president Buhari
to give them cash or his government to guarantee
for them more loans from commercial banks having
exhausted the Excess crude account and no bank is
willing to advance anymore loans to them.

“They also want the FGN to instruct their creditors,
the commercial banks, to allow them a moratorium
period of twenty years without indicating a viable
repayment plan within the period. Luckily the banks
are privately owned and not subject to any
governments dictates.

“It is not at all clear if state Governors ever give
thought to the political and even ethical
implications of their demands on the Federal
Government. Doesn’t it ever occur to them that by
always coming to the federal government cap in
hand, they expose their own sordid impotence and
give additional ammunition to those that question
the wisdom of running our peculiar federation
through so many states and local governments –
all of which depend on the centre to survive?

“Are they aware that the public has gained the
impression that states are run without fiscal
discipline especially where the egos and whims of
the Governors are quite large?

“But president Buhari would definitely want to ask
some questions before he extends a helping hand
to any cash-strapped Governors including how they
got into the problem in the first place and if such
Governors commit to be treated of the following
diseases: extravagance, lavish lifestyle, prodigality,
profligacy, squandamania as well as corruption.

“One of the reasons given by state governments for
their current financial mess is the failure of the
FGN to reimburse them for projects executed in
their states on its behalf. If such claims are valid, it
will be quite strange indeed. Do states with such
claims have written contractual agreements they
signed with the FGN?

“The FGN has the structure and capacity to
execute its projects and should not ask any state to
perform its functions. I am sure President Buhari
will not allow himself to be hoodwinked. He must
maintain the separation of powers between the
tiers of government and enforce budgetary
discipline. In fact, he should discourage governors
from making frivolous demands from the FGN. This
will serve to discourage their frequent visits to Aso
Rock.

“In sum, it is evident that most of the states and
local governments are unviable and should not have
been created in the first place. One of the greatest
disservice to the nation by some military regimes
was the creation of these unviable, revenue
guzzling administrative (maladministrative)
structures. They have continued to serve as a drag
to our national development.

“But for its impracticability one would recommend a
constitutional abrogation of some of them. Goes to
show that any plot to create more states and local
governments is plain insanity.”

Politics“i’m Too Big For Such” – Ekiti PDP Chieftain Rejects Fayose’s Appointment by msmon(op):
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
in Ekiti State, Chief Dayo Okondo, has turned down
his appointment as a member of the Governing
Council of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti by
Governor Ayo Fayose.

Okondo said he was not consulted before the
appointment was made.

He told newsmen on Friday in his Ikere country
home that membership of the College of Education
Governing Council fell short of his status in the
party, being a former Chairman, a founding father of
the PDP and a party leader that brought Fayose
into the party.

The PDP chieftain also lamented that Fayose had
not assisted him on his failing health.

Okondo said: “Making me a board member falls
short of what he should do. And if I have to take
care of myself very well and take care of my health,
I don’t know what membership of the college’s
board would do for me.

“I can’t see how somebody who had served as a
PDP Board of Trustees member will now be
appointed a college’s board member. I was shocked
by the appointment with my status and level of
work that I did.

“I brought the party to the state and I brought
Fayose into the party. I supported him
wholeheartedly when others refused to support him
and I ensured that he won the primaries and the
election (in 2003).

“He has not visited me and he has not done
anything about my health. I have been trying to see
him and talk to him about my health but I have not
succeeded.

“If I will reject it in totality, I want to see the
governor first and I want him to reason with me
that this appointment does not befit my status as a
founding father of the party and as someone who
contributed immensely to his political rise.

“I have been abandoned by the party. One of my
sons, Tope Okondo, who was Obasanjo’s
bodyguard, fell sick in Abuja and the situation I met
him was very terrible.

“I tried to see if I could take him to India. I
contacted (former Governor) Fayemi and he offered
to assist. We took him to India where he spent two
to three days and I thank him (Fayemi) for the
gesture.

“If my own party (PDP) can treat me like this, it is
unfortunate”.

Okondo urged his supporters in the PDP who are
aggrieved by the treatment meted out to him to
remain calm.

Okondo said: “I advise them not to leave because
the situation will not be like this forever. After
some time, things will change and whatever they
want will be available.”

CrimeSix ‘One Chance’ Robbers Nabbed In Kwara (Photos) by msmon(op):
Six men suspected to specialise in robbing passengers
in commercial vehicles in Ilorin, the Kwara State
capital, have been apprehended by the Kwara State
Police Command.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects normally
use two cabs for their operations but were arrested
last week Sunday.

The police identified the suspects as Taye Babatunde,
Adisa Ismaila, Toyin Folorunsho, Dare Alawo, Suleiman
Shehu and Raheem Kareem. The Public Relations
Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi,
said they were arrested by a police patrol team.

According to him, the suspects were trying to
dispossess a victim, Aisha Raji, of her belongings at
the General Hospital roundabout when the police
intercepted and apprehended them.

Okasanmi stated that the police had commenced an
investigation into their activities and making attempts
to track down their accomplices.

He added that the suspects would be prosecuted after
the completion of investigation.

Raji told journalists that she boarded the vehicle when
the driver said they were heading to Tanke area of
Ilorin. She added that she never knew that the
occupants were robbers. She said there were four men
including the driver in the cab with two sitting at the
back and one supposed passenger beside the driver in
the front.

She said other people who turned out to be
accomplices boarded the vehicles at different spots.
According to her, it was when they were close to the
hospital roundabout that they ordered her to release
all her belongings to them. She said she hesitated
because she had N78,750 in her bag. She added that
the suspects pounced on her and were struggling to
dispossess her of the money, her bag and other
belongings when a police patrol van was passing by.
She stated that she started shouting which attracted
the policemen who now caught up with them and
arrested them.

Raji said, “While we were struggling, the police patrol
van came and I shouted; so the policemen overtook us
and blocked the vehicle with their patrol van. I thank
God that there was slight traffic congestion that day.
The policemen immediately arrested the suspects.”

Meanwhile, Okasanmi said that the command had also
arrested some criminals suspected to be involved in
the manufacturing of fake number plates.

Okasanmi said that the culprits had been
manufacturing Lagos number plates when they were
discovered.

“We first discovered that stealing of vehicles with
Lagos registration numbers had been on the high side
in the state. It was in the course of our investigation
that we discovered the fake number plates,”he said.

BusinessWhy we won’t devalue naira – CBN by msmon(op):
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has disclosed
that its decision not to further devalue the naira
was borne out of the need to safeguard the
Nigerian economy from the shocks and negative
impact the depreciation will have on the economy.
The apex bank in a statement signed by its Director,
Corporate Communications, Mr. Ibrahim Mu’azu,
maintained that the CBN does not panic and will
not take desperate measures to satisfy few
misguided interests in the market.

According to Mu’azu, who was reacting to an
article in the Economist Magazine, he said the
article seemed to ignore the fact that the exchange
rate is simply a price that is essentially determined
by the forces of supply and demand, adding that
the CBN believes that the 48 per cent decline in oil
prices may not be transitory and made bold policy
changes including closure of the subsidized Official
Foreign Exchange (Forex) Window, which resulted
in a 22 per cent depreciation in the currency, the
Naira.

“Because the Nigerian economy is heavily
dependent on imports and the exchange rate pass-
through to inflation is high, we believe that this
adjustment is optimal at this time.

“Contrary to the article’s argument, adjustments to
a sharp decline in supply of US Dollars cannot all
be borne by an indeterminate depreciation, without
considering the full impact on the Nigerian
economy.

“The demand side also has to be considered, not
just in response to the pressure on the Naira but as
an opportunity to change the economy’s structure,
resuscitate local manufacturing, and expand job
creation for our citizens.

“Take rice imports, for example: why should we
keep allocating scarce forex to rice importers when
vast amounts of paddy rice of comparable quality
produced by poor hardworking local farmers across
the rice belts of Nigeria are wasted, and farmers
are falling deeper into poverty while we export their
jobs and income to rice producing countries?
“Few decades ago, Nigeria was one of the world’s
largest producers of palm oil but today we import
nearly 600,000 Metric Tonnes while Indonesia and
Malaysia combine to export over 90 percent of
global demand”, he stated.

Muazu, however, noted that under the present
circumstances, the CBN will do the little it can,
through the introduction of huge subsidies, to
protect the jobs and incomes of local farmers,
using some of the same principles western
economies used to justify the protection of their
farmers.

He further stated that Nigeria cannot attain its full
potentials by importing anything and everything,
adding that for a long while now, the quest for
importation has significantly weakened the
operating capacities of industries in the country.
Muazu added that like other oil-exporting countries,
Nigeria is grappling with its share of the aftermath
of the oil price decline, noting that despite the
challenges, Nigeria’s economic fundamentals
remain strong.

According to him, inflation is still within the CBN’s
single-digit band, the exchange rate has stabilized
around N197 per US Dollar for the last five months,
GDP expanded by four per cent in the first quarter
of 2015, and 469,070 new jobs were created in the
same quarter.

He said, “But now is a good opportunity to begin a
reversal. Although the article hastily derides this
idea as lacking in economic foundations, it is the
same principles upon which many other countries
do not allow importation of certain products.

“More also, if the article believes the CBN should
adjust to reflect the current parallel market rate,
why was this suggestion not made in the week
following the inauguration of President Buhari when
the same rate fell sharply to under N190 per Dollar?

“Furthermore, it appears condescending to suggest
that the list of items seemed ‘to have been drawn
up by someone wandering around a house and a
building site’. On the contrary, items were only
included after thorough and exhaustive discussions
at the highest policymaking body of the Bank, with
the strategic national interest of Nigeria”.

“With ingenuity and productiveness, we believe that
Nigerians will seize this opportunity and use it for
the greater good of the country. As we transition
into a new administration in Nigeria, we must
continue to ensure policy stability at all times”, he
concluded.
