Thanks MsNelly. But in Nigeria the position of the law is that one can have lawful carnal knowledge of a female above the age of 16

I didn't know that. What's your source?

Any sane person teenager who just got away from having her nuděs leaked shouldn't in a matter of days be in the position Yeni has foolishly gotten herself entangled in. What's she thinking? This girl is dumber than a rock. I hope she learns a bitter lesson at the end. See her kpomo lips like "you say the sweetest things." Dindinrin!!

Thanks for the update, au revoir.

Yeni exited the shower with only a towel on. She met Derin seated on the bed, making use of his laptop. It had already been a week since they had begun dating and she couldn’t be more happier. No one knew about it and Yeni wanted to keep it that way. He was such a nice and sweet man and spoiled her with every lavish thing she wanted. He took her out to various extravagant places and she secretly wondered why Lola ever let him go.

“Always working” She sat on the bed, massaging his shoulders.

“You know about the fashion show we have coming up…”

“And you know how much I want to be there!” He laughed throatily. He was so handsome, Yeni sighed appreciatively.

“You also know your sister will be there. Speaking of your sister, can you help me borrow a file from her that contains the fashion designers she’ll be showcasing?”

“Sure” Yeni nodded eagerly. “Now…” She shut the laptop close and turned his attention to her. “Focus on me, will you?”

“You know how I feel about this Yeni” He rubbed her shoulders fondly.

“Stop treating me like a child. I’m not a child, okay?”

“Your birthday is this weekend. Until then, I can’t misbehave with you. It’s against the Law”

“Will you stop being a gentleman with me?” He smiled at her then pecked her forehead. “Right there, is what I mean. I mean, it’s sweet and all but you’ve never even given me a real kiss”

“You had me at ‘it’s sweet’”

“Don’t I…attract you?”

“All those questions will be answered on your birthday, sweetheart”

“Fine, I’ll let it go. My birthday is upon us anyway”

“Good girl”

“By the way…I was thinking, are you ever going to tell me why my sister broke up with you” He sat up straight and motioned to his laps. She lay down and looked up at him. “I suppose you’re finally going to tell me then”

“You didn’t ask her?”

“You know how stubborn she is. When she says she won’t do something, nothing will make her change her mind”

“Or someone”

“Huh?”

“I and your sister had a very loving relationship. I loved her with all my heart, she met my Mom, we were gonna get married. Then I found out she was cheating on me with a model”

“What?!” Yeni sat up straight.

“She was doing it with a mere model in my company, can you image?”

“I’m so sorry.”

“No, it’s okay. When it happened, I really thought I was never going to fall in love ever but then you came along and changed everything I knew or thought I knew about love. You’re the best, Yeni.”

“You say the sweetest things.”

“And I mean them too” He tweaked her nose. He checked his watch briefly. “They should be expecting you home now” She rolled her eyes.

“Going back to my whôre sister and uptight mother; yaay me. We should just elope. This is my happy place- being with you.”

“Be patient and give it time, okay. Go home now and don’t forget the file, okay?”

“Hello? Kemi?” Lola needed to be sure Kemi had actually picked one out of her million numerous calls.

“Now, why do you sound surprised?” Lola chuckled.

“You picked my call nau. It’s been ages!”

“Don’t be silly. I needed time away, plus I’ve been really busy”

“I see. So, how are you?” Kemi sighed.

“I’m good. I’m sorry for staying away, I just… I really needed to be by myself and process certain things.”

“Of course. I understand. Are you done processing?”

“My dear, it’s a work in progress. But I’ll get there”

“We’ll get there.”

“Thanks dear. So what’s new with you nau? Any gist?”

“Babe, guess who’s the new agent of Flaming?”

“No way”

“Uh hun. If you doubt, come check me out in my new office. Babe, the place is lit. I even have my own secretary sef. Just ask for Miss Lola and she will direct you”

“Ah ahn Baddest!”

“You know how e dey be now. So I’m expecting you sha”

‘Trust nau. I’ll be there, Agent Lola. Can I bring a bottle?”

“Calma. We go chill after work hours”

“Sure thing. I’ll see you in 5” Lola dropped the phone, pleased that she had worked things out with Kemi finally. She sprung to her feet as the intercom buzzed.

“The manager will see you now” Her secretary said. She picked up Charles’ file and quickly left for his office. She knew she had barely resumed work and Flaming already had tons of models, but she had to squeeze Charles in somehow.

“Miss Lola? You wanted to see me-“

“Yes Sir”

“Please take a seat” She sat down and crossed her legs.

“I’m very glad for the opportunity you’ve bestowed on me, Sir. I mean, I can’t believe I’m a booker for this very illustrious agency’

“Hmmn, flattery. What is it you want?”

“I am grateful Sir.”

“I’m a busy man, Ms. Lola. Also note that one of the factors we put into consideration when hiring you was that you once worked with our rivals, Curves and whatever”

“Rivals? I thought.., you both were in cohorts”

“Curves sprang from Flaming Models. But it seems it has begun to grow wings and I must clip them…fast. And what better person to use than their very own agent” Lola smiled, pleased.

“Thank you Sir. If I may-“ She placed the file before him.

“This is a model who works with Curves. He is very promising, Sir and if you give the word, I can… bring him over”

“We have enough models already, Ms. Lola. What you should be focusing on is the fashion show. I have a number of prestigious fashion designers I want you to meet. Our models will be showcasing their upcoming line of clothing and I want you to carefully survey each one. This is important, Lola. If we don’t look good this fashion week, nobody would want to do business with us. We’re in competition with Curves”

“Sir…I perfectly understand that. But um…this model is very good too. You can bring him in for a casting call…” He took the file.

“Fine, fine whatever. He can model for catalogues but he’s not walking in my show. I told you we have more than enough models”

“Thank you Sir” He gave her a separate file.

“There are ten fashion designers I want you to see today. You are to pick out two pieces of clothing for the models to wear. Ask for their sizes before you leave…although there should be a standard measurement” He paused and rubbed his forehead. “I want this fashion show to be good.”

“It will be Sir, rest assured.”

“You can ask your secretary to accompany you if you’ll be needing any assistance. And take the company car…it’s an advertisement on it’s own.”

“Don’t you worry, Sir. I’m a pro with this. I will definitely promote this fashion show and will handle all the press inquiries”

“Good. You may leave now.” She almost skipped on her way to the office excitedly. Yes, she had tons of work to do, but she had landed Charles a job and he won’t be leaving anytime soon.

“Kemi!” She hugged her bosom friend warmly.
“I missed you Lola”

“Me more!’

“Girl, come and see my office” She led her to her executive office as she beamed with pride. Kemi looked impressed and smiled at her.

“You’re doing well for yourself, this girl”

“Abeg. With great offices like this comes great responsibilities”

“You don’t say”

“Have a seat please. What do you care for?”

“I’m good babe”

Lola sat down. “I have ten fashion designers to see this afternoon. TEN!”

“Oshey superwoman” Lola chuckled.

“Joker. So what have you been up to?”

“Hoe phase things o” Lola looked surprised.
“Wait…last I checked you were the mother of Jesus”

“And last I checked, you were a blasphemous cünt”
“At least one of us stayed in character. What’s going on with you? Hoe phase? Really?”

“There really is no point. I’m tired. I’m just living my life and enjoying every second”

“So did you start with the person you gave blue balls for over a year” Kemi burst out laughing.

“Babe, you’re insane! Tayo dumped me, why the hell would I start from him?”

“I don’t know. To show him he made a terrible choice.”

“I really didn’t want to seem desperate…”

“No. I think he’ll really like this side of you. Consider it”

“Oh please. Anyway, what about you? What or who have you been doing, ashewo?”

“Just one person, so I think that term rightly belongs to you"

“Wait, you’re seeing someone?”

“Uh hun. Well…something like that”

“I’m listening”

“Charles” Kemi’s mouth dropped open.

“Are you kidding me?”

“We’re not dating, but… we’re just chilling for now. And it feels good” Kemi smiled at her.

“You’re happy?”

“Yes. I am”

“Then I’m happy. Give me this man’s number let me congratulate him”

“Thank you so much dear. I didn’t know how you’d take this, but I’m happy you’re cool with it” She brought out a phone and searched for his contact.

“How many months has his dïck been inside you and you don’t know his digits off hand?” Lola chuckled.

“You said dick” Kemi smiled. “Child of god”

“Shut up.” Kemi watched her friend excitedly scroll through her phone and felt a pang of jealousy creep up again. God, she really had everything she didn’t- stability in her life. And she was such a bad person; while Kemi on the other hand, had been good. She had been good. When was God ever going to bless her?

“You know what, babe, just give me his address. I’ll personally go congratulate him on the gem he has” Lola smiled at her best friend, warmly. She hadn’t expected her to be cool about this, but she was more than pleased with her reaction.

“Thank you dear” She wrote down an address on a sheet of paper. “We could even go out for drinks; all of us”

“I would like that, babe.” She took the paper and tucked it in her purse. “I gotta run now but I will see you and your boify later”

“He’s not my boify”

“Sure” She winked at her. Lola relaxed in her seat as she watched Kemi leave. She was happy, excited even. Everything seemed to be falling into place. It was unbelievable that a week ago, her life was a huge mess.

Kemi, on the other hand, walked out determined to make Lola's happily ever after with Charled impossible.

“Ma’am?” Her secretary interrupted her reverie.

“Yes, Chioma. I know, I know. We’ll soon leave to go meet the designers…”

“No Ma’am. Actually, someone is here to see you”

“Who? See, it doesn’t matter. I have enough on my plate as it is”

“Well…she says it’s important. Should I let her in?”

“She? Sure, let her in” Chioma left to let in Sophia.

The two women both stared at each other unfamiliarly. They had both never met officially. Sophia was checking out the woman who caused Derin to lose any bit of sanity he had let in him. She was dark and beautiful too. She had on a black dress with a halter strap which showcased her breasts. Sophia noticed how she sat- confidently. She seemed like she was in control, of her life and everything around her. Was this what attracted Derin and Charles to her?

“Excuse me?” Lola was the first to speak. “I’m not sure who you are…?”

“We do have one thing in common though”

“Huh?”

“We’ve fücked the same men” Sophia smiled.

“Who are you?”

“The name is Sophia. I’m Charles’ ex-girlfriend. We’ve never really met, but I think he should’ve mentioned me to you, just like you mentioned Derin to him…”

“Okay, first of all. I didn’t even know he had a girlfriend…”

“And you also didn’t know you had a fiancé?” Lola sighed. She was just having a good day and this woman with unclear intentions just barged in to ruin that.

“Sophia ? What do you want?”

“Nothing, actually. I just have a piece of info that might interest you”

“And what would that be?”

“Your sister…and Derin”

“I get it Ms. You fücked Derin, you want a trophy for that or something?”

“No..,.no.. that wasn’t the purpose of…”

“What? You just walked in here talking about how we’ve been with the same men. So what? And now you’re bringing my sister into this?”

“I’m not the one bringing your sister into this ridiculous love triangle”

“Love?” Lola scoffed. “You think Derin bleeped you because he loved you? You really are pathetic, Miss. You and Derin went over to Charles’ to terrorize him with your sick, twisted plot and you call that…love?”

“Terrorize Charles? I am the victim here. This man emotionally abused me for years; cheated on me, lied and manipulated me”

“So your genius idea was to have sex with Derin in front of Charles to prove what?”

“Wow…I can’t believe you. Are you still banging him? Dating him perhaps?”

“That has nothing to do with you.”

“Charles is not good news. You think he’ll be faithful to you, love you, be loyal, be half the man Derin was to you? You’re in for a shock, Lola”

“Don’t compare Charles to Derin at all. Derin is the monster who fired us both and had sex with you WITH A GUN POINTED TO CHARLES’ HEAD! That’s the man you had sex with- a criminal”

“You’re a fine one to talk. You had sex with a colleague where your boyfriend worked. That’s low.”

“Get out of my office, you slüt”

“You need to stop shaming me for the very same thing you did. I didn’t cheat on anyone…”

“And you need to leave my office before I call security.”

“I said I had something to tell you.”

“You’ve said enough. I have things to do” Sophia stood up.

“Some day, you’ll regret not letting me me finish” Lola laughed at her, mockingly.

“Derin doesn’t want you, neither does Charles. Go cry to your Mom about it”

“I don’t want either of them…”

“Tell someone who cares”

“You know, my first impression of you was that you were a woman who is in control of herself and emotions. Now, I realize you’re more a less a Hot teenager who dates the footballer with the biggest dïck”

“I’ve never been on a date before”
Fisayo breathed easy. She knew the whole idea of the date with Tayo was to spite Yinka but she was enjoying it more than she had anticipated.
She dipped her French fries in the ketchup and swirled it around a bit in the sauce, still staring at him. He wasn’t just “the man in the shiny suit”. He had goals and aspirations. He told her he was standing up to his parents for the first time in his life- finally choosing his career path and she found herself completely relating.
She had always wanted to be a dancer, had several tattoos and was definitely about that life. She was certainly different from her entire family and standing up to them was always a chore...

“Back to Earth, Fiso.”

“Huh?”

“You’ve been stirring that chip for hours now. How many sauce do you need?”

“Shush” She discarded it and took another.

“You were saying you’ve never been to Mr. Biggs before?” Fisayo laughed.

“Don’t be silly. I said I’ve never been on a date. And what fancy man takes his date to Mr. Biggs? Ugh” Tayo shrugged.

“What? I asked if you had anything in mind and you said you didn’t”

“That’s code for “surprise me”. Haven’t you ever been in a relationship?”

“Well…I have actually. I loved this girl for a long ass time and-“

“And what?”

“Everything boils down to my cowardice with my parents.” Fisayo sighed.

“That’s sad.”

“Enough about me and my sad as fück stories. Tell me yours.”

“Oh… so we’re jumping from the frying pan to the fire, eh?”

“Birds of a feather-“ He winked at her.

“You really think winking makes you look cool and shït, eh?” They both laughed.

“Well.. my name is Fisayo…”

“No shït” She made a shooing gesture at him.

“I’m 23, a graduate of Performing Arts from the prestigious Unilag”

“No way!”

“Yes way”

“So what’s a graduate doing working in a bar?”

“Saving up before I go serve. I dance when I get off. I get paid, you know. I just…do what I gotta do to get by. It’s a tough world out here”

“I really don’t like the job you do. You’re prone to sexual harassment and all that-“

“You mean like a customer coming in drunk and fücking me?” Fisayo noticed the slight embarrassment on his face and giggled. She really wished he would stop being so damn shy.

“You know…”

“Yes, I know. Consensual. Issa Joke.”

“Well, I’m definitely not joking about that environment you work in”

“So what do you propose?”

“Well, I’m into mass import and exportation so…none of your skills could come in handy there…”

“I’m a good marketer.”

“Marketing? I’ve got large scale marketing on social media and all over the world. We’re really very comfortable where we’re at” She nodded. She really wanted to leave her nasty job, but just like he said, she had no real skills.

“But…” She looked up expectant. “There’s this thing called a ‘Girlfriend Allowance’. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it” It was her turn to be shy.

“Are you asking-?” He nodded.

“What do you say?”

“Well…I’m a woman who believes in hardwork and dignity and… oh, who the fück am I kidding? Yes! Yes, of course!”

“I’ll need you to quit your job so you can start ‘work’ as soon as possible.”

“Sure thing, boyfriend.”

“Hello? Kemi?” Lola needed to be sure Kemi had actually picked one out of her million numerous calls.
“Now, why do you sound surprised?” Lola chuckled.
“You picked my call nau. It’s been ages!”

“Hey” Sophia flashed a smile at the secretary.
She noticed there was a different woman from the woman who attended to her the last time. The girl at the reception was of a more petite frame, looked smaller and wore nerd glasses.

“Hi. Good day Ma’am and welcome to Curves and Faces. Who would you like to see?”

“Mr. Derin”

“Alright ma’am, but he’s in a meeting. Would you like to wait?”

“A meeting? I’m sorry, but do you know who I am? Oh…you’re a rookie so you probably don’t know anything around here. Well let me fill you in newbie, I am Derin’s girlfriend, his future wife as well. And everyone around here knows Sophia doesn’t like to be kept waiting. So if you want to last long here, I suggest you do exactly as you’re told. Are we clear?”
Sophia noted she had already imbibed fear in her and relaxed.

“Yes.. Yes Ma’am”

:Good. I knew you were smart”
She made her way to Derin’s office. She had to see him immediately. He was avoiding her calls and leaving all her messages on “read”. After the whole show at Charles’ house and one or two calls, he completely ignored her like she didn’t even exist anymore.

She didn’t know what she felt for him but she wanted to explore it further. Maybe she was a little desperate, because after all, the whole idea of them coming together was to teach Charles a lesson, but still-

She decided against knocking on his door and simply barged in. Derin was seated on his desk facing a young girl. Sophia was completely taken aback. She went forward to check out her competition- she looked really young. She was dark, pretty and had about 3 braids on her small head. She had on a t-shirt and distressed jeans and had on heavy makeup yet the fact she was young was clearly evident. Was this who Derin was ignoring her for? She looked back at Derin?

“Sophia? What’s all this?”

“I believe I should be asking the questions here”

“You can’t just barge into my office and give me attitude. What did my secretary tell you?”

“I’ll get back to you on that” She turned her attention to the young girl seated. “Sweetheart, shouldn’t you be in school or something? You should be hanging around boys your age not men old enough to father you”

“Let’s go” Derin took her by the arm and led her out,
“Let me go, Derin!”

Once they were outside his office, he let go of her arm and surveyed her. She wasn’t looking bad, as usual.

“Derin, THIS you are looking at is the body of a grown WOMAN not that pankere inside who has not even finished growing breasts” Derin chuckled.

“Don’t tell me you’re jealous”

“I’m confused. CONFUSED! You’ve ignored me for days on end and now I come to see the reason for it and I see… HER”

“Okay first of all, she is not the reason for anything. She is a separate project entirely, okay? Secondly, I don’t owe you a thing. You asked that I help you out with Charles and that I did. So why the endless calls and texts?”
Sophia paused, wondering if she even had the answer to the question.

“I guess…the sex was good”

‘Well, trust me. It didn’t just happen in a day” Sophia laughed.

“Okay braggart”

“I had fun too Sophia, but.. I don’t want anything serious.”

“I understand” Sophia nodded. “By the way, what do you mean by she is a separate project?” He smiled mischievously.

“Of course I’m not interested in her. You had your bloody revenge on Charles. It’s my turn now with Lola” Sophia gasped.

“You want to bang Lola’s younger sister?!”

“You catch on fast”

“Are you out of your mind, Derin?! Is she even legal? This is child abuse, you know”

“Pipe down Sophia. She’ll be 18 late this month…”

“And that makes it okay? She’s a child!”

“Oh please-“

“Derin, I know you’re hurt. We both are. But this is taking it to the extreme. You fired her already…”

“So? I heard she’s already found a job elsewhere. Firing her was child’s play compared to what she did to me. She had sex with my co-worker under my very nose like I was some sort of idïot. She deserves every bit of this and more. If I could knock her sister up, that would be perfect too. She’d be forced to stare at a daily reminder of me, of what we could have been, of what she destroyed”

“Derin, PLEASE. Don’t do this. Find some other way to heal your hurt”

“No Sophia, this is the only way. I can’t be the only one feeling this…pain. She hurt me, you know. She hurt me. How do I get past that? How do I teach her a lesson?”

“Don’t involve someone else. This is you and Lola’s war. Her sister shouldn’t be a casualty”

“Sophia, I’ve made up my mind”

“You let her change you…horribly”

“Love changes people”

“Ow”

“Shut up” Lola rolled her eyes and pressed down the warm wet towel on his cheek bone.

“That really hurts, Lola”

“You practically begged me to do this. You can shut up and let me continue or…”

“It doesn’t have to be an argument, okay? Just reduce the pressure”

“Don’t talk to me about pressure, stüpid” She dropped the towel in the water and stood up. “Matter of fact, don’t talk to me about anything. I’m in this mess specifically because of you”

“Are you ever going to take responsibility for your actions, Lola? I didn’t force you to do this; if not for your big fat mouth, we won’t be jobless and single.”

“This is my fault now?” Charles sighed and sat up. His head ached and this argument wasn’t helping matters. Why did she make everything so damn stressful?

“I just want to move on, Lola. I’m tired of fighting. The past is the past, okay?” She sat down and rubbed her palms.

“Well, I have. I let Flaming Models take a look at my resume. They called me for an interview.”

“That’s great” Charles smiled at her. “You’ll wow them, I’m sure of that.”

“Thanks. And you? What are you planning?”

“I might relocate. Abuja has plenty of opportunities for me. I found various job offers over there anyway” Lola was gazing intently at him now. “What?”

“You’re really gonna up and leave?”

“I need a job, Lola. Plus, I’ll be out of your hair” He winked.

“Might even give you ample time to get back with Derin” Lola instinctively advanced towards him. She placed both hands on his chest and straddled him.

“Lola-“

“Shut up Charles” He saw in her eyes clear and naked desire and wrapped his arms around her, sure and hard. She bent down, her lips brushing lightly against his lips.
The light touch sent shivers down her spine and made her tremble slightly.
He reached up and pulled her down to him. He kissed her gently, carefully; Lola noticed it was the first time he had kissed her like that. She was enjoying it; maybe a little too much. She reached for his belt and unbuckled it.

“Lola, no…” He stopped her. “I’m not done with your lips”

“Stop kissing me like that. Please.”

“How?”

“Like you mean it”

“But I do.” He kissed her once more; his tongue slipping inside her mouth, gentle yet demanding. Lola melted in his touch, moaning softly. It wasn’t like anything she had ever experienced. It was too beautiful. She pulled him closer. She had never wanted anyone as much as she wanted him in this moment. Charles stopped immediately.

“We’ve never done it in the bedroom, you know.” Lola smiled and held his face in her hands.

“What am I supposed to do with your corny àss?”

“You can make love to it” Lola chuckled, amused.
“Choice words.”

“I’m serious” She nodded. She didn’t know what she was going to do if he really left. Her life was a mess and he seemed to be the only stable thing going on for her.

“Don’t leave. I can’t do this thing...alone.”

“You’re not alone…”

“I am. Please stay. I’ll get you a job… just please… stay”

Fisayo rolled her eyes as she saw him walk in. It was the third time this week. What was his problem really?

“Your boyfriend is here” Fisayo groaned and hit Yinka across the chest.

“Stop trying to be funny” She picked up the bottles, placed them on the tray and headed to her order.
The place was rowdy as usual, there were lots of guys who had come to watch the game, drink to stupor or escape from their wives. Fisayo sighed and put down the tray, completely ignoring Tayo who was seated at the bar. She saw him conversing with Yinka and concluded this wasn’t going to end well.

“Hey sweetheart” She felt the older man tap her ass accompanied with the greeting. She uncorked the bottle, poured it into his glass and made to leave.

“Here you go” He slipped a thousand naira into her bra. She sighed, considering whether or not to react. He was fond of this nonsense and she was getting sick of it, fast. She took out the money from her bra and plastered it on his forehead.

“You can keep it” She noted the shock on his face and smiled inside. The filthy old perv.

“How dare you! How dare you, you cheap slüt!” He was shouting as she walked back to the bar.

“Off upsetting our customers, huh?” Yinka said to her as he walked off to pacify the older man.

“Hi Fiso” Tayo beamed at her.

“Please don’t call me that”

“Is Yinka, your boyfriend the only one allowed to call you that?” Fisayo chuckled.

“That’s what that fool told you? My boyfriend? C’mon, that’s a reach” Fisayo saw he was visibly pleased with this piece of info and rolled her eyes.

“What do you want, Tayo? Stop coming here, okay? It was JUST sex. JUST sex. And it’s never happening again. What is your problem?”

“Let’s go out on a date. Just one date”

“No, fück you. I’m sick of guys like you coming in here and thinking they can have their way with the first woman they see”

“Fisayo, I think you’re forgetting you came on to me and not vice versa”

“And so? I’m obligated to go out with you because of one meaningless activity? Get your head out of your ass, Mr…”

“I never even said I wanted to date you; I just want to know you”

“I don’t care what you want; because guess what- we don’t want the same things.” Tayo stood up and sighed.

“Here you go” He handed her a card. “For when you change your mind”

“Drop the stüpid cöckiness” He winked at her and left. She dropped the card in her pocket and picked up a bottle of Vodka.

“You’re paying for that?” Yinka asked.

“Don’t go about telling people you’re my boyfriend, you àsshole”

“I’ve been on your matter since forever and that one walks in with his fresh suit and you forget your senses”

“What is it with every male in this bar today and some warped sense of entitlement? So I should go out with you because you’ve known me the longest?”

“That one will just use you and dump you”
“If I haven’t already done that”

“Ashewo”

“Ashewo you can’t fück with all the money in the world”

Kemi walked into the bar with an air of confidence surrounding her. She quickly noted she was the only female present; the tables were occupied with men and their beer glasses, their attention riveted on the big screen. They were all watching a big match. No wonder there were only guys in the bar, Kemi noted.

She quickly scanned the bar for her next catch. She noted a man in who seemed like he was in his early thirties. He was quiet and bent over his phone, a bottle of Guinness in front of him. She went forward and tapped on the table.

“Someone here?” He barely looked up before answering “No” briefly. She sat down and looked around. The attention she had gathered initially had reduced and she sighed.
She ordered for four bottles of beer and brought out her phone. She had missed calls from Lola. She rolled her eyes. She didn’t even know why she was still mad at her, but she was. Lola had everything- a nice job, a good man who would do anything for her and she ruined it for some minutes of pleasure. It was almost like what Tayo was doing to her. She didn’t want to transfer her aggression to Lola, but whenever she thought of her, she found herself doing just that. She concluded that she needed space from her. Lola was her best friend in the entire world; she’d be over this in no time.

The bartender brought forward the the bottles.
“Is it four bottles you need, Ma’am?” Kemi ignored him and opened the first bottle. She poured the contents into the glass and drank half the glass. The bartender shrugged and left immediately afterward.
Kemi observed the men in the room- how they screamed and shouted when their team won, how they expressed hurt when their team lost, even how they argued with anyone who seemed to oppose their team. Kemi chuckled as she watched them while drinking. It was free entertainment.

“And they call us emotional” The young quiet man looked up from his phone, noting her remark.

“At least we’re not arguing over boyfriends, makeup and eyebrows” Kemi sat up and smiled. She wondered how long she was going to wait to get his attention. It was her style: she never made the first move. She had a lot of confidence in her charms.

“First of all, Mister, football pales in comparison to boyfriends, makeup and even eyebrows. Secondly, it’s a little myopic of you to limit every woman’s existence to those flimsy things” He seemed impressed with her reply, Kemi noted. She opened the second bottle and tilted it into her glass, waiting for his response.

“If football is so trivial, according to you, why are you here then?”

“To fück” She answered bluntly. She looked into his eyes, gauging his reaction. He was unreadable. He nodded at her bottles.

“Isn’t that too much?” She moved a bottle towards him.

“Help me out then” He chuckled and opened the bottle, drinking directly from it.

“Why are you here?” She asked him. “You don’t seem particularly interested in the game. Too busy with your phone” He nodded.

“I am here for the game” He glanced at the TV, taking note of the scores. “We’re winning” He grinned at her. “So…seen who you want to… take home yet?”

“You. If you’re not busy, that is” She winked at him. He smiled, considering it.

“On a good day, I’d probably jump at your offer…”

“But-?” He sighed, wondering whether to tell her.

“Well, I recently got dumped. I’ve been on my phone trying to talk some sense into her. I don’t seem to be succeeding.”

“Fück her. I’m going through a breakup too, you know. I’m not going to sit here and mourn him. I’m not dead yet; fück her, fück him. Fück them” He smiled at her.

“Patrick” He said to her.

“Kemi. So…what do you say?”

“Just like you said… Fück them. Let’s fück instead” Kemi grinned at him.

The soothing voice of Celine Dion filled the room while Lola listened, nodding in nostalgia. It was one of her favourite tracks “All By Myself”. At some point, she sang along where she felt it related most to her life.
She was still patiently waiting for her younger sister who had gone to see Derin. She knew any minute he was going to be here, he was going to disgrace her before her family.

“No” She said and sat up on her bed. “I’m the one who has disgraced myself.”
Her phone began ringing and she shifted startled. She picked it up almost immediately, expecting it to be either Derin or Yeni.

“Lola?” She could recognize that gruffly voice even in her sleep. She sighed.

“Charles”

“I need you…please”

“Charles, I’m not in the mood…” She stopped as she recognized what it seemed to be him crying. “Charles, stop the drama”

“I lost my girlfriend, I’ve lost my job, Lola… I just need someone to talk to…”

“Don’t be stüpid. I lost my job and fiancé. I didn’t come crying to you like a little bïtch, did i?”

“You don’t understand…” Lola sighed, getting impatient.

“He came here…and fücked her right in front of me”

“What? What are you talking about?”

“Your boyfriend. Derin. He had sex with Sophia-“ He groaned at the other end as if in pain.

“Who the hell is Sophia? Charles, you have me lost here”

“Derin had sex with my girlfriend…IN FRONT OF ME” Lola’s mouth dropped open. That definitely did not sound like the Derin she knew. It definitely did not.

“Oh my God, Charles. But, what did you do while this happened?”

“He had a gun pointed at me, Lola. A gun! When I tried to fight him off, he hit me with it. I’ve got a massive swelling to show for it” A gun?, Lola thought.

“Wow, I’m really surprised. It almost seems like you’re describing a stranger.”

“Will you just be here tomorrow…please?” Lola nodded.

“You’ll see me Charles, but don’t act a fôol. I’ve got issues of my own too”

“Sure, thanks” She hung up and thought about everything Charles had said.

Derin surprised her by the minute. He was done with Charles and she was almost certain she was next; and it definitely seemed like he wasn’t showing no mercy.
Yeni burst into her room almost immediately. She wasn’t smiling. This can’t be good, Lola concluded. She stood up, expecting the worst.

“Why is this one standing like soldier?” Yeni asked, looking at her strangely.

“Where is Derin?” Lola asked, anxiously.

“Derin who? What is he looking for here? I thought you guys had broken up” She winked at him. “You’re planning on seducing him right back?” Lola blinked, surprised. What the hell was wrong with her little sister?

“Yeni, please where the hell is Derin?”

“At home, probably. Is he supposed to be here?”

“I mean, Mama said she wants to see him, right? I mean, that was what you went to his office for?” Yeni chuckled and sat on her bed.

“Not really. I just wanted to see how he looked like. And besides… I owe you one. I wouldn’t want to embarrass you in front of Mama” Lola rolled her eyes, suspiciously.

“So you went all the way from this house to go and see what my ex looks like without putting me in trouble”

“Yes” Yeni shrugged.

“So why didn't you pick up your phone and what the hell did you tell Mama?”

"Well... I didn't want to be bothered. And um…I told Mama the same lie you’ve been feeding us with: That the both of you are not compatible with your genotype and all that. I said that was what hot stuff told me…”

“Hot stuff? Yeni, are you okay?” Yeni made a shooing gesture with her hand.

“Yes, I’m fine. And so is your ex. And he’s really nice too”

“Yeni, keep away. He’s not a good person”

“Oho, is that why you two broke up?”

“Not your business. Leave my room”

“Tell me jare. I mean, it’s the least you can do considering I saved your ass…”

“Have you forgotten your naked pictures are no longer all over the internet?” Yeni stood up, excitedly.

“Really? What did you do?”

“Nothing serious. Your useless boyfriend doesn’t even have spine. I told him I’d turn him in and he said he was going to take down the pictures”

“Aw, thank you” Yeni hugged her. “You’re the best”

“Go joor” Lola disentangled from her hug. “You still don’t have sense, don’t forget”

“Abeg lemme. At 17, were you not already doing the do?”

“Idiot. I waited till I was 20 and even then, I did it with somebody that didn’t distribute my unclothedness all over the Net”

“How was it-your first time?” Lola sighed and reminisced. There was nothing particularly memorable about it.

“He was my first reasonable boyfriend. He was about thirty and I liked him a bit, I guess. Well, I just decided I was tired of being a virgin and well…we did it”

“How was it? Be specific”

“See, my dear, don’t listen to all these nonsense rumours about you being forever crazy about your first. Sex is never that-what’s the word-smooth? It was just there: horrible, painful, annoying. I had to explore my sexuality on my own and figure out what I liked or didn’t like. Overall, it wasn’t that big a deal”

“I thought I was ready to have sex” Lola looked at her.

“Really?”

“Yeah… with Tobi. But I guess I was wrong”

“You were. You’ll be on your way to the uni very soon. You’ll see finer, more mature boys, trust me. And when you do meet them, ask them to do three things, okay?”

“Which are?”

“1. Use a condom
2. Lick your clit
3. Shut up about it”

“What’s the clit? Been reading a lot about that”

“Oh, you’ll find out soon enough, honey”

Kemi picked up her lace panties, sniffed it and put it in her purse. She looked at the man who was passed out on the bed in front of her and sighed. This was the first person she had sex with in five years. This drunk, no-good stranger whose name she didn’t even catch. She wanted it to be Tayo; she wanted it to be Tayo so bad. She had prayed it would be him but things never go as planned in her life. She stared at her reflection in the mirror. She was 30. Thirty with nothing good going for her except her career.

For the very first time, she wasn’t scared. She wasn’t afraid. She had spent her whole life looking for a purpose, looking for happiness, looking for love, looking for God. Maybe, there was no purpose or happiness or even love. Maybe there was just right now. Maybe all she had to do was eat and drink and wait to die. She was exhausted. She was really tired of trying. It was pointless.

“Don’t tell me you’re sneaking out while I sleep” She turned back to stare at him.

“Yes, actually. Yes, I was” He smiled and started dressing up.

“Oh good. Because if I get one more girl who orders breakfast and try to make a conversation, I’m gonna lose it” She chuckled.

“No, that’s the last thing I need right now”

She put on her stiletto and studied his body once more. He was sexy and even though he was the first person she had sex with in years, she felt no connection, no need to linger. On the contrary, she was eager to go to the club and land more men in her bed and that was exactly what she was going to do later that night. She stood up straight and walked out.

“Omo mi?” Lola took one look at her mother’s worried face as she let her in and cringed inside. Her mother was worried about her. She had told her she had broken things off with Derin due to different genotypes and her Mom constantly insisted they go to his place and tried to work things out. Lola was confused. How do they negotiate having children with SS?

She dropped the grocery bag which was barely filled up. She had used the market as an excuse to go drop her CV at Flaming Models. She still had not told her Mom she had lost her job; she saw no need to worry her. Everything in due time.

“Omolola” Lola headed to the kitchen and her Mom followed suit.
“Did you prepare one of your delicious soups?” Lola checked the pots and stared back at her Mom. It was empty.
“What’s going on, Mom?”
“I’ve been thinking…”
“Thinking, Mom? I’m hungry”
“Shut your mouth. Did I come here to be your maid?” Lola sighed. She was tired, hungry and in a mood. She needed space; from her mother especially. The interrogations were tiring and endless.

“Mom, I’m tired and hungry, okay? I really don’t want a lecture right now” Lola looked around. “And Yeni?”

“She went out” Lola looked at her Mom unbelievably.

“Went out where? Where does she know?! What’s all this, Mom, for God’s sake? I’m having a really bad day. Can’t I trust you to keep your daughter in check?”

“I sent her out”

“Mom, where the hell did you send her to? If you want something, you should have simply asked me”

“I did want something, Lola- answers. You never gave them to me”

“Mom” Lola paused to get a hold on her nerves. She was losing it and she was trying her hardest not to take it out on her. “This is Lagos; Lagos is a very massive and complex city…”

“Lola, we live in Abuja; I’m sure she can take good care of herself”

“It’s that useless Abaji, not exactly Maitama District, you know”

“That ‘useless Abaji’ as you so put it is where you were born, where you were raised Lola” Lola rolled her eyes; she didn’t even want to think about it. Her childhood wasn’t exactly pleasant.

“Where did you send her?”

“Lola, you really want me to believe you both called it off because of your genotype?”

“Yes, Mommy, yes!”

“You’re too smart for that. You can’t possibly have dated Derin for that long without finding out his genotype”

“What is your point, Mom?”

“I gave Yeni your business card to find Derin so he can come speak to me” Lola was immediately lost for words. Had this woman completely lost her marbles?

“You did what?”

“I want him to explain why he broke up with you. Maybe then, I will finally let the matter rest”

Lola ran to the parlour to get her phone. She had to call Yeni and ask her to get back home immediately. She couldn’t let Derin speak to her Mom; she just couldn’t.

“Mom, please say something” Kemi implored her Mom. She had informed her of the recent change in wedding plans, the absurd request of Tayo’s parents and how he chose them over her, as per usual. She didn’t know what her Mom was thinking but by the looks of it, it couldn’t be good. Her parents had spent a shït ton of money on the wedding preparations.

“What nonsense are you saying to me now, Kemi? Do you know how much I and your father have spent on the reception alone? We planned a honeymoon trip for you and Tayo to Dubai?”

“Mom, I told you not to go overboard”

“Shut your mouth! Kemi, just shut your mouth before I shut it for you. We’ve spent more than a million with hopes that finally, you would settle down…”

“That is the problem with you and Daddy” Kemi began, upset. “I just told you that the man I love has left me for some flimsy reason and the first thing you talk about is your money; which you’re not lacking by the way”

“Are you okay, you this child? Don’t let me humble you in my own way”

“Mom, it has always been this way. You prioritize your material assets over your only daughter. Can’t you see that that is the reason we are here today?”

“What nonsense are you saying, Kemi?”

“I have been looking for love in all the wrong places, CAN’T YOU SEE?!” The elderly woman sat down and looked around her like she was searching for something.

Kemi sighed and sat down as well. She thought it all through: how her parents were always chasing one business deal or the other, how they never had her time of the day. Kemi was their only child and was lonely most of the time. At the age of 18, she was raped by their houseboy and although she had informed her parents, they had only fired him and warned her to stop being an attention seeking slut.

It was at that moment Kemi lost it. She became the exact opposite of everything she ever was. She went out, smoked, used drugs, had random sex with almost everyone she came in contact with. She was wild. However, she was never happy.

Eventually, she came in touch with an evangelist. She assisted her gain back her self-respect and helped her in building a relationship with God. She felt more at peace with herself. She was finally happy…or so she thought.

“It’s not my fault you decided to be a slut all over the place”

“Don’t you call me a slut!” Kemi charged towards her angrily. “Don’t you dare call me a slut! Everything was your fault. Everything was you and Daddy’s fault! You think I’ve forgiven the both of you for what you did to me? You never loved me. I was never really your daughter”

“We spent a whole lot on your wedding. If that isn’t love, then what is?” Kemi smiled sadly.

“It’s impossible. You don’t know how to love” Kemi picked up her bag. “I’m done”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“I’m just…done.” Kemi left and this time she just knew it. She was done. Her parents were the most toxic people in her life and hard as it was, she had to let them go. She didn’t know if forgiveness was ever possible but she just had to let them out of her space. She was hurting too much already.
