Hello, with the recent visa denials due to using “selfpay plans” most especially with hospitals in Texas, I would like to ask if these denials translate to a ban. If yes, does anybody know for how long?

I want to say a special thank you to Maziude. He was always there to answer my questions and concerns from the beginning of my application. I took his advise of going for a PhD instead of a pgd. I am glad it paid off in the end.

Thanks to Jerry for reviewing my SOP. I appreciate.
Now, to mothers who want to go with your little children, please do apply with them. Just ensure you have enough money to prove you can take care of them financially and otherwise. You will be fine.

I pray to as many that desire to go study and represent Nigeria well , TRV will fall on YOU ALL. @Mamacaja , come here o, your sister has been given a TRV!
I'm returning to Naija as Doctor (Mrs) . A specialist and authority in Education by the special grace of God.

Finally, commit everything to God. I took a step of faith, 2 days before I submitted, I went to church with all my documents. I knelt at the church altar and handed everything to God in faith. I have done mine as a human. God , please have the final say. He sure had a final say!

@maziude my brother, your Ijebu garri and Bendel garri are coming. Your sister will supply you more than enough Bro. See you soon in Cannyland.

Find out from your school if it's refundable. If it is u can pay full tuition.

Philadelphia:

Thank you so much. Can I pay a year's tuition? If yes, is the tuition refundable?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Msp: 1:40pm On Oct 26, 2017
The 300$ is mandatory to hold down your seat. But if you want to pay the whole tuition I guess it's okay to do so. Ask your school if you can pay? paying your tuition strengthens your application.

Philadelphia:
Somebody please reply me.
I have been accepted for M.Sc in McGill and I've been required to pay $300 CAD as deposit. Is this the only amount that I need to pay before I proceed to apply for my TRV?
Also, is it when I get to Canada that I will be required to pay my tuition. Please reply, thanks.

Madcow:

Many thanks Bro.

I will proceed as advised, I applied online so i am still with my passport... I logged on to my profile and i cannot find a link/instructions to withdraw/discontinue the application.

Please from your experience, how do you think i can go about this?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Msp: 1:56pm On Sep 23, 2017
Hello,

I don't think you need to do a precourse. Il advise you focus on other schools. Check MUN, uni of Saskatchewan, U of Manitoba, uni of Alberta. But il advise u try MUN, their requirement is flexible.

Lastly, what they mean by experience is work experience or volunteering. So you can start by volunteering in the area you would like to specialize in. Volunteer in Primary health centers, environmental departments etc.

Miwa:
Hello guys, I am new here. I studied Cell Biology and Genetics in my first degree. I want to pursue a masters degree in public health. I applied into university of Ottawa last year but was told I didnt have enough experience for the course.
Kindly suggest colleges with high rate of acceptance I can apply to for a precourse in public health(could be a medical laboratory course) just to gain more experience.
Thank you guys and great job you are doing here.

Your family/ siblings serve as ties to Nigeria. It's not easy for some people to live apart or far away from their family. I saw a GCMS note where the VO was asking where the siblings reside. I deduced that the VO was trying to use the siblings place of residence to determine if the principal applicant will migrate or return home.

So if your siblings are all here, add their drivers license and also state in your SOP that they are all in Nigeria.

MrMarc:

Lolz..

Big No.

How does your siblings being in Nigeria compel you to return after your studies? Na only you get siblings ni?

Wow! I have an email from them, although this was last year December or so. Nawa oh! I guess it's bye bye MUN.

I tried using that but they insisted I should send them IELTS or TOEFL
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Msp: 7:34pm On Jul 11, 2017
If you don't want to do courier wahala (17k no be beans), you can ask the records office to send your transcript via email, that's if your school is open to it. For English proficiency, the records office can also send a letter stating that you were taught in English. Hope this helps!!

Hello,

Sorry about the delay! In my opinion, do not reapply without your gcms note. Yes, you might be thinking of resuming this September but I think you should just look forward to January 2018.

The purpose of visit refusal was not because of your Nigerian son. I think it was because of your other children. I just read a gcms note with a similar reason. The PA stated she won't be travelling with her kids(Americans) and the VO believed there's nothing stopping the kids from going over to Canada since they do not require a Visa. The VO concluded that the PA is just using studies to migrate to Canada.

My advice is for you to get your gcms note, you'll be surprised at the reasons stated but above all you would know how to tackle the reasons for denial.

Hello All
New member. Silent reader since May just before submission. Need the help of the gurus, wealth360, thesoj, yemdogg, and any other kind-hearted soul who can be of help.
Just saw my status delayed.
Brief profile below
Had 3 admissions, uregina for Masters in HRM, UNBC for MBA and Vancouver Island uni for dual MSc and MBA...I chose UREGINA FOR mhrm which is closest to what I want and do

Applied for visiting in March with my hub without LOE cos we wanted to do a quick scout of Canada. Was rejected

So applied for my student visa this time with SOP sample I got from the forum and mentioned former rejection to Canada and US of long ago.

I have current visa to US, (am a bit widely traveled so old passports and visas included) about 4m in the Naira account with 10m educational insurance and lots of landed docs

The only reason for refusal ticked is purpose of travel...

I think I shouldn't have added my 5 year old to the application ( He's Nigerian) despite all the letters from his school and the other siblings schools
The other two siblings don't need immediate visas ( America and irish)
And I think my SOP was not tight enough

I forgot to add. Accounting graduate with 8 years of HR experience. I run my own HR consulting firm, I have 3 international certifications in HR and one from Lagos business school

There is a very big difference between FACT and OPINION

When someone says something and even drop cic link for more info to it you are still arguing? NA wa o

The some of the so called seasoned professionals are in the forum too, I will rather drop a question here an get different Pop's than take straight up what the professional thinks

All the professionals I knw where dumbfounded when this issue of fund export came up, the best bet was coming here to learn from 1st hand experience

We all know there are agents and immigration lawyers everywhere so why join the forum in the first place?

Baba a lot of lawyers and agents DEY this forum

YThere is even a possibility that visa officers view the forum

I heard something about USA visa officers being on nairaland sometime ago not sure but there's Atleast a slight chance yes there are US visa officers

I called back today since I didn't get the certificate. I was told to fax all my documents I initially submitted to them..

Now, my question is how do I fax them? There are phons applications that can help me fax them? Please, if you know one , please let me know. I remember people faxing their documents to IAOS for certificates evaluation. Please help a sister! Thanks.

Wow! How can these VO's be so unreasonable? we thank God for the approval. Noticed he added his car papers to tackle personal assets. Did he also include statement of accounts?

Austinpee4:
Hey guyz.

So i delivered the news and the young man was still filled with joy, shock and gobsmacked when i left. I also requested that i share his profile here as with the tradition to encourage others.

I don't have so much details about the previous refusals but 2 of the 5 were refused for insufficient funds, personal assets, travel history.

The last 3 were all purpose of visit and travel history.
I will give details of the last two and what he did differently.

Timeline for the last 2 application:

Profile:
Undergraduate, Petroluem engineering.
Work experience: 4 years as a well/exploration engineer.
Proposed program: master of engineering, chemical and petroluem engineering.

Applied- Nov 2016, refused 3 feb 2017.
Reasons: Purpose of visit, travel history.

Requested for gcms file. VO pointed out that program is inconsistent with previous study and employment history. Study plan not sufficient to propel additional knowledge. (dis one shock me o).

Last application: Applied April 5th with upfront medical.

Medical passed: may 2.

Approved :June 22.

Document submitted:
Sponsor: Father.
Statements of account of 25m and 12m.
Company documents.
Contract award documents
Sponsorship letter.

His documents:
Undergrad degree certificate (first class)
Admission letter
Certifications
Car particulars.
4 paged SOP
Visas from previous travels
International organisation membership documents.
Employment letter
Pay slips
Recommendation letter

Here is what was done differently between the two last applications.

After getting the gcms file, we paid attention to the officer's concern and noticed he/she could not establish a broader scope of petroluem engineering and his job role as an exploration engineer. SOP was written to open that horizon and give specifics on what he was going to do during his program, what he was going to do in terms of further research and how he intend to also develop a project that would solve the difficulty in oil exploration in the niger delta region since his company works there too.

Blessings!
Family / Re: DV: How Do You Manage A Deficient Wife? by Msp: 11:59am On May 13, 2017
I don't know what you saw in her that made you Marry her. Focus on the good traits she has and magnify her great abilities. Her weak areas like you mentioned. Lead by example, take care of your children, show them love like mad. I believe with time and God on your side she will learn one or two things from you and change.

As for the partying aspect I think you should try to plan family outings. Your post is not really detailed so we can't really say a lot. Who knows maybe you are an introvert who likes staying indoor and she's the opposite. So instead encourage family outings.

Lastly, communication! Express your concerns to her and also pray for her.

biggestbros:
Considering the rate of domestic violence everywhere, what should a man do when his wife refuses to cook, take care of the children and other house chores.
Husband is financially buoyant, provides for the home, enough house help and ever ready to support the wife. All the wife wants is to party, visit friends at the expense of her family.

Hubby has discussed these severally but no changes.

What should he do? DV not an option.
