Lauryn Hill has been sentenced to spend 3 months in Federal Prison for tax evasion … even though she claims she paid off her nearly $1 million bill to Uncle Sam before sentencing.

A judge in Newark, New Jersey dished out the sentence moments ago ... and told Hill that after she completes her stint behind bars, she'll spend 3 more months on house arrest ... followed by 9 months of supervised release.

The 37-year-old former Fugee pled guilty last year to three counts of tax evasion for failing to file returns on $1.8 million she earned from 2005 to 2007. Lauryn's attorney asked for mercy because of her charity work and 6 kids ... but the judge wasn't buying it.

Hill was present during the hearing, and delivered a statement to the judge in which she compared her situation to slavery.

"I was put into a system I didn't know the nature of. ... I'm a child of former slaves. I got into an economic paradigm and had that imposed on me," Hill said.

She continued, "I sold 50 million units ... now I'm up here paying a tax debt. If that's not likened to slavery, I don't know what is."

Health officials are warning that two cases of a so-called 'sex superbug' have been confirmed in Hawaii.

Doctors are warning that an antibiotic-resistant strain of gonorrhoea, now considered a superbug, has the potential to be as deadly as the AIDS virus.

‘This might be a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect more people quickly,’ Alan Christianson, a doctor of naturopathic medicine told CNBC.

‘Getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days,’ Christianson said. ‘This is very dangerous.’

New research has found that a single region of the brain may control the ageing process.
Researchers say they have discovered a specific age-related signalling pathway which opens up new strategies for combating diseases of old age and extending lifespan.

Researchers believe that the hypothalamus – the area of the brain which controls hunger, thirst, body temperature and fatigue - may be the ‘fountain of ageing’, controlling how the body declines over time.

The hypothalamus, located deep within the brain, is known to play fundamental roles in growth, development, reproduction and metabolism.

Over several years, Professor Cai and his research colleagues showed that inflammatory changes in the hypothalamus can give rise to various components of metabolic syndrome - a combination of health problems that can lead to heart disease and diabetes.

To find out how the hypothalamus might affect ageing, they decided to study hypothalamic inflammation by focusing on one protein complex.

Professor Cai said: ‘Inflammation involves hundreds of molecules, and this one sits right at the centre of that regulatory map.’

In the latest study, the team showed that activating the protein complex pathway in the hypothalamus of mice significantly accelerated the development of ageing, as shown by various physiological, cognitive and behavioural tests.

He said: ‘The mice showed a decrease in muscle strength and size, in skin thickness, and in their ability to learn - all indicators of ageing.
‘Activating this pathway promoted systemic ageing that shortened the lifespan.’

However, they also found that blocking the pathway in the hypothalamus of mouse brains slowed ageing and increased longevity by about 20 per cent.

The researchers also found that activating the pathway in the hypothalamus caused declines in levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which is made in the hypothalamus.

Suspecting that reduced release of GnRH from the brain might contribute to whole-body ageing, the researchers injected the hormone into aged mice and made the striking observation that the hormone injections protected them from the impaired neurogenesis – creation of new neurons - associated with ageing.

When aged mice received daily GnRH injections for a prolonged period, the therapy exerted benefits that included the slowing of age-related cognitive decline, probably the result of neurogenesis.
Professor Cai said preventing the hypothalamus from causing inflammation and increasing neurogenesis via GnRH therapy are two potential strategies for increasing lifespan and treating age-related diseases.

A study by professors in Japan has discovered a drug that can stop a man from being seduced and led astray by attractive women.

Professors from the Waseda and Kyushu Universities wanted to test the mind-altering affects of taking the antibiotic, minocycline.

They simulated honey traps, using eight photos of attractive women, and got 98 male participants to rate how trustworthy they thought the women would be.

Looking at a picture showing a female's face, male players were told to choose how much of 1300 yen (around £8.58) they would give to each female.

If they chose to share the money, the amount would be tripled.

The men were then told that the females would get a choice of whether to share the money, or take it all.

The males were also asked to evaluate how trustworthy they thought each female was, as well as how physically attractive she was.

All of the photographed females had actually decided, in advance, to ‘betray' the male players. Therefore, male participants played with untrustworthy female partners, but were unaware of the deception.

The results show that trusting behaviour in male participants significantly increased in relation to the perceived attractiveness of the female.

A juror halted a sex assault case just 24 hours after the Tyne and Wear derby when he branded the defendant a 'Mackem rapist'.
The man, a Newcastle United fan, is understood to have said he could not give David Blake, from Sunderland, a fair trial so soon after his city's team beat Newcastle 3-0 last weekend.
The juror confessed his concerns to court staff and admitted his prejudice before Judge Penny Moreland.
As a result, before hearing any evidence from the witness box, he was removed from the panel of jurors.
Jurors are given clear a clear warning by judges at the start of every case that they must try defendants on the evidence they hear in court and nothing else.
Blake's trial was halted after just half a day, meaning the victim, who was anxiously waiting to give evidence, faced a delay while a new jury was sworn in.
The juror was told not to come back to court to complete his fortnight of jury service.

The two Boston bomb suspects have been named by reports as Chechnyan brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

The Associated Press named Dzhokhar, who is still at large, while the New York Times cited unnamed law enforcement officials in its report on Tamerlan.

It has been reported that the two suspects are from Chechnya and had lived in the US for at least one year.

A photograph showing the surviving suspect leaving the scene emerged on Friday morning. It shows the man - wearing a white cap and dark clothing - walking away from the carnage of Monday's explosions.

Earlier, the FBI and Boston police released new pictures of the two suspects, who investigators had described as "armed and dangerous".

A woman attending Wrestlemania 29 in New Jersey last Sunday brought with her a bright pink sign calling out the exact seat and row of out her cheating husband, who was also in attendance.

The boy was brought to Phoenix Children's Hospital, and doctors discovered that he had numerous bruises around his anus, a "hanger-type" bruise on his hip, and yet another bruise on his neck.

Doctors also found an object lodged in his rectum, which appears to be "a vibrator or some other intimacy gadget."

Phoenix Woman,Rickesha Burns, 21, called police almost two weeks ago, reporting that her son was bleeding from his anus but said she didn't know exactly what happened.
She said she was at a park with her son that day, March 24, and while she was "looking at a text message for about 10 seconds," a boy she didn't know at the park did "something" to her son, according to court documents obtained by New Times.

"She said she does not know what he did but is sure he did something," a probable-cause statement says.

Police interviewed Burns, who still claimed that a teenage boy at a park did it, even though she "believes it is her vibrator," and police found the boy's blood on her shirt, according to court documents.


A Phoenix police spokesman said there was zero evidence that the boy was assaulted at the park.

Burns told police that she "worked hard to get her son back and would not do anything like this to hurt her son."

Indeed, court records show that Burns was investigated for child abuse in 2011, but it doesn't appear that criminal charges were ever filed. State records don't show any criminal history for Burns, other than a couple of misdemeanor cases related to driving without the proper documentation.

Burns' son needed to have surgery to get the vibrator removed, according to court documents. Police said the injuries around the boy's anus appear to be caused by a hanger, or similar object, being used in an attempt to get the vibrator out.

At her arraignment today, Burns pleaded not guilty to the charges against her, including sexual conduct with a minor and child abuse. A judge had previously ordered that Burns be held without bond.

Leeds University masters student Jayeola Abiola, 29, of Grafton Street, Hull, and Pinheiro-Fernandes, of Park Hotel, Manchester, pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to conspiracy to breach immigration law by arranging a marriage so Abiola could remain in the UK.
Fixer Abiola Kumoye, 34, of Shillingford Road, Manchester, wept in court as he also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to breach immigration law and acquiring criminal property of £2,650, the first part of the fee for the sham marriage.
The court heard how the UK Border Agency had been called by the Hull Registrar who said the couple seemed to barely know each other when they were interviewed at the rehearsal.
One investigator said: 'You can't make it up. They really did pick "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" to be played in the ceremony.
'It shows, even if they never plan to spend their lives together, they have a sense of humour.'
The marriage was to cost £5,000. Around £2,500 was paid in advance, with the rest to be paid on completion.

The way we chew, for instance, can alter our digestion, teeth and even our face shape. And new research suggests how often we chew could even affect our brain power.
Here we reveal what scientists and medics now know about this instinctive act …

THE TRUTH ABOUT CHEWING
We've all heard the dictum about chewing each mouthful 20 times before swallowing, but actually how many times we should chew depends on what we’re eating, says gastroenterologist Dr Nick Read, chief medical adviser for charity The IBS Network.
‘The Victorians thought you needed to chew food 14 times but we generally wait until it feels right and then swallow — it’s intuitive.’
He says that because our diet has become softer, thanks to all that processed food, we now don’t need to chew for so long.
However, raw fruit and vegetables, and meat, demand more chewing. ‘If you don’t, lumps of food will pass through your digestive system and not be completely absorbed,’ says Dr Read.
On average, we chew 800 to 1,400 times a day.

GUM CAN CHANGE YOUR FACE
When we chew, we use the masseter muscles in either side of the jaw. People who chew gum throughout the day can find the over-activity makes their masseter muscles ‘grow’.
‘This can make the patient’s face look very square,’ says Luke Cascarini, consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon from North West London Hospitals and West Middlesex University Hospital.

OR AFFECT YOUR MEMORY
While the evidence is mixed, it’s thought chewing gum may stop you forming some kinds of memory, says Professor Andrew Smith from Cardiff University, a specialist in health-related behaviour.
‘Many aspects of memory rely on using sub-vocal rehearsal (when you repeat words to yourself in your head) and it’s difficult to do that while chewing because it’s a competing activity — but this area needs more research.’

That’s the suggestion from a study by the National Institute of Radiological Sciences in Japan, just published in the journal Brain and Cognition.
When participants were put through a number of tests, those who were chewing gum had 10 per cent faster reaction times compared to those who weren’t.
Using functional MRI scans, the researchers found that chewing affected eight parts of the brain — most of which are involved in executive function (actions) or motor-related functions, explains Dr Duncan Banks, a director of the British Neuroscience Association. ‘Those areas seem to light up more when people chew gum.’
There is robust evidence that chewing gum increases alertness, helps us to sustain attention and improves reaction times, says Professor Smith.
‘Chewing stimulates the trigeminal nerve, which stimulates part of the brain responsible for alertness. And we know that chewing increases heart rate, which in turn increases blood flow to the brain.
‘People who chew gum report increased productivity at work, which fits in with what studies show in the lab,’ adds Professor Smith, whose work in the past has been partly funded by chewing gum manufacturers.
In a study at Cardiff University, chewing gum was found to improve performance when people were struggling to pay attention while completing monotonous tasks. But it made no difference when they were operating at normal levels.

1. Whiten Clothes – An Alternative to Beach

Add a cup of Peroxide to white clothes in your laundry to whiten them. Peroxide is great to get rid of blood stains on clothes and carpets. If there is blood on clothing, just pour directly on the spot, let it sit for about a minute, then rub and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

6. Colonic or Enema

For a colonic , add 1 cup (8 ozs.) 3% H202 to 5 gallons warm water. (Do not exceed this amount) For an enema, add 1 tablespoon of 3% H202 to a quart of warm distilled water.

7. Infections

Soak any infections or cuts in 3% for five to ten minutes several times a day. Even gangrene that would not heal with any medicine has been healed by soaking in Hydrogen peroxide. Put half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus or other skin infections.

8. Bird Mites Infections

Patients infected by tiny mites report that hydrogen peroxide effectively kills the mites on their skins. They spray it on their skin a couple of times (with a few minutes in between the applications) with amazing results.

A tablespoon of 3% Hydrogen peroxide added to 1 cup of non-chlorinated water can be used as a nasal spray. Depending on the degree of sinus involvement, one will have to adjust the amount of peroxide used.

3% H2O2 is used medically for cleaning wounds, removing dead tissue, and as an oral debriding agent. Peroxide stops slow (small vessel) wound bleeding/oozing, as well.

Some sources recommend soaking infections or cuts for five to ten minutes several times a day. However, washing and rinsing action is sufficient. You shouldn’t leave the solution on open tissue for extended periods of time as, like many oxidative antiseptics, Hydrogen peroxide causes mild damage to tissue in open wounds. Therefore it is important to use with caution.

Mouthwash / Tooth Care

Healing Properties: Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. You will not have plague sores and your teeth will be whiter. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% Hydrogen peroxide into your mouth and hold it for 10 minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

11. Mouthwash

Many people don’t realize that hydrogen peroxide makes a very effective and inexpensive mouthwash. Use 3% H202 – add a dash of liquid chlorophyll for flavoring if desired.

12. Toothpaste

Use baking soda and add enough 3% H202 to make a paste.

13. Toothbrush

Or, just dip your brush in 3% H202 and brush. Soak your toothbrush in Hydrogen peroxide to keep them free of germs.

14. Tooth Ache

Hydrogen peroxide is not a pain killer; however, as an anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal agent, it is effective at treating the pathogen that is causing the infection. The following is from my own personal experience: My dentist wanted to give me a root canal some time ago as one tooth was inflamed and, in her opinion, would die. I felt some discomfort but told her that I would give it chance to heal. I rinsed with hydrogen peroxide (several times a day) as well ascoconut oil (once a day). The discomfort went away and I have had no further problems with the tooth.

15. Tooth Whitening

Having used 3% Hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash for some time ago, I am thrilled to note that my teeth have been beautifully and effortlessly whitened. I used to pay so much for professional whitening, those silly strips and uncomfortable trays. Live and learn.

No fewer than 50 persons were on Friday burnt to death in a road accident that occurred near Ugbogui village along Benin-Lagos express road, Nigeria.
Eyewitnesses said fire fighters were yet to get to the scene of the accident which reportedly occurred at about 1pm.
Vehicles involved in the accident included a trailer carrying cement, a tanker and a luxurious bus carrying more than 56 passengers.

"Pregnant Man" Thomas Beatie is PISSED after a judge refused to grant him a divorce from his estranged wife.
Beatie was born a woman, but began a sex change in 1997. He married Nancy in 2003 in Hawaii. He filed for divorce in April 2012, claiming Nancy was abusive. Allegations she denied.

Beatie, a transgender male, is appealing a decision handed down Friday ... when a judge in AZ denied his divorce from Nancy Beatie -- on the grounds the marriage was NEVER legal since Beatie couldn't prove he was a man during their nuptials ... and the state doesn't recognize same-sex marriage.

Beatie says he's not giving up the fight, his attorneys are already drafting up the appeal -- and he'll go the Supreme Court if that's what it takes.

He explains, "This is personal. This ruling is an attack on my person, my identity, and my family. It's sad and embarrassing that Judge Gerlach is more focused on wanting to delegitimize my children than legitimize my family."

Beatie continues, "The judge is obviously uncomfortable with me. He has a problem with me having a legal male identity and using my internal organs to start a family."

You'll recall ... the judge made it clear from the beginning​, he had issues with the validity of Beatie's marriage based on the fact that while married he bore the couple's 3 children ... something no man could do.

But Beatie is adamant, the issue is MUCH bigger than his divorce ... "This is not Beatie versus Beatie. This is the State of AZ versus transgender people, human reproductive rights, and fairness under the law."

Through a rapist's eyes! A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun! , braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women whose clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

3] They also look for women using their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4] The number one place women are abducted from / attacked at is grocery store parking lots.

5] Number two is office parking lots/garages.

6] Number three is public restrooms.

7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don't have to worry about getting caught.

8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn't worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you're not worth it.

POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER:

1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk: can't believe it is so cold out here, we're in for a bad winter. Now that you've seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.

2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell Stop or Stay back! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

4] If someone grabs you, you can't beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and
armpit or in the upper inner thigh - HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.

5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you'll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of
trouble. Start causing trouble, and he's out of there.

6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked
audibly.

7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don't dismiss it, and go with your instincts. You may feel little silly at the time, but you'd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL....

I know you are smart enough to know these pointers but there will be some, where you will go "hmm I must remember that" After reading, forward it to someone you care about, never hurts to be careful in
this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans: if a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you.... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit
(doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU CLOSE the DOORS, LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

a. Be aware: look around your car as someone may be hiding at the passenger side, peek into your car, inside the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. (DO THIS TOO BEFORE RIDING A TAXI CAB).

b. If you! U are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

c. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard /policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
