Politics › Mugabe Delivers Wrong Speech In Zimbabwe Parliament by murphyibiam15(op): 9:16pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has delivered the wrong speech at the opening of a new session of parliament, repeating an address he gave to the legislature last month. The 91-year-old leader read the 25-minute-long speech through to the end on Tuesday, apparently unaware that he was delivering the same text he presented during his state of the nation address last month. “There has been a mix-up of speeches resulting in a situation where… the president delivered the wrong speech,” said presidential spokesman George Charamba. “The mix-up happened in his secretarial office,” Charamba was quoted as saying in the state-owned Herald newspaper’s online edition. “The error is sincerely regretted and corrective measures are being considered.” Mugabe, Africa’s oldest leader, earlier this year fell down the steps leading from a podium. He was unhurt, but video of the fall went viral on social media. http://www.punchng.com/news/mugabe-delivers-wrong-speech-in-zimbabwe-parliament/cc:lalasticlala |

Politics › Northern Leaders Reject Jonathan’s Confab Report by murphyibiam15(op): 6:48pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
By Soni Daniel, Northern Region Editor Prominent Northern leaders, Tuesday, rejected the implementation of the 2014 report of the National Conference convoked by former President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that it did not address the key issues affecting them.
In its place, the northern leaders are asking President Muhammadu Buhari to convene a fresh conference that would take into cognisance the challenges facing them and proffer solutions to them.
The northern leaders who are mostly former political office holders under the aegis of Northern Reawakening Forum (NRF) and headed by a former member of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Kumalia, said it would be wrong for Buhari to implement the report of the conference called by the former leader.
The group, which met in Abuja on Tuesday, issued a strong view on the last conference, and asked for the dumping of the report in the interest of Nigeria.

I got to find out from the fellow who actually made me register. His brother worked in the LGA and informed him they had paid.
We carried strong eye go meet them and they coughed out our cash I saw that they bled the 4k they gave us that day. they now asked for thank you from us my guy gave them thanks in thetraditonal way with many prayers and blessing we commot with our complete bar.

Culture › Re: Why The Nigerian Man Needs To Start Planning For Christmas From September by murphyibiam15(m): 6:20am On Sep 15, 2015 |
streetajebo: Hello my ajebos, today i will be sharing with you guys a very sensitive topic, Christmas! Christmas is a season of celebration, love, happiness, togetherness! it is a season everyone looks forward to, a time to re-unite with family.
In Nigeria, especially if you are a father, you need to start preparing for this season if you don't want to be overwhelmed with tension. You will have to buy your children 'Christmas clothes' and 'Christmas shoes'. Trust our Market here in Nigeria, the rates at which the cost of these items in the market will increase will definitely shock you. So as a sharp guy, it is good to plan ahead!
A lot of wise men have been saving, infact, people have been saving since January just to make sure their family have a good time this Christmas. As a man, if you fail to deliver in this aspect then be ready for a real problem. Not only will your wife be unhappy with you, your children will not be happy too. They want to attend that father Christmas party they have been seeing on television. Or don't you want them to party with their mates, holding 'bisco' and throwing knockouts.
I remember when i was a child growing up, i anticipated Christmas like it was the coming of Jesus Christ. In fact, from September you can smell Christmas in the air! The Christmas colours (red, green) will flooding the town. Everyone is decorating their shops, Christmas lights, Christmas hats, jingle bells will fill the city. Another thing i really enjoyed was it is was the season to win "blon blon"(balloon) lool. It is a happy season, in class i will discuss with my friends, "hey, my daddy have bought my Christmas clothes and shoes, have your daddy bought yours"? God save your daddy if he hasn't bought yours. Hell will let loose if you haven't.
That is why they say to be a man is not a days job! September is always a trying month though, because schools resume in September, you will pay your children's school fees. Then the next headache will now be Christmas. A wise man will make sure he is adequately prepared so that he not be embarrassed by his wife. You know Nigerian wives like to compare, her neighbor is planning to kill goat to celebrate xmas, her friend is planning to kill 2 big fowl and it is just few days to the 'D-day', dear Mr husband, sorry will be your name.
Now i am going to tell you what you need to do to avoid all this shame and disrespect;
please view the complete gist here http://www.streetajebo.com/2015/09/why-nigerian-man-needs-to-start.html nice one...there is no celebration here on earth that can be compared with christmas.. but @op why not paste the full gist.am sure this thread will make fp |
Education › OAU Student Union Budgets N1.8m For Phone Calls by murphyibiam15(op): 6:08am On Sep 15, 2015 |
Student Union executives and legislators at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, have budgeted N1, 837, 550 to make official phone calls between August, 2015 and January, 2016.
In a copy of the Student Union budget made available to our correspondent and debated by members of the OAU Student Representative Council on Sunday evening, the leaders also had a separate budget for internet facilities and sending of bulk Short Message Service.
The sum, which did not also include the one for purchase of phones, was budgeted by the leadership of the Central Executive Council and Students’ Representative Council led by Mr. Omotayo Akande and Mr. Adebari Aare respectively.
Others are the clerk, deputy speaker, halls of residence executives, chairmen and secretary of transport, judicial, and budget and finance committees.
The student union leaders, who in totality budgeted N26, 090, 469 for their various needs, are expecting an income of about N15m.
A breakdown of the budget showed that the speaker, Mr. Adebari Aare, proposed to spend N232, 500 for official phone calls for 310 days, while the president of the union also proposed to make calls for 180 days with N108, 000.
Among other items that surfaced on the president’s budget were fuelling at the cost of N270,000; bus maintenance, N300, 000; ‘intervention’, N300, 000; and security vote, N300, 000.
Contained in the speaker’s budget is welfare costing N217, 000; long journey and short journey accommodation, N1, 250, 000; long and short journey trip, N500, 000 among others.
When contacted, the Chairman, Budget and Finance Committee, Mr. Abayomi Samuel, said the budget had not been approved.
Samuel, whose committee also budgeted N114, 000 for phone calls, added that some of the expenses had been reduced.
While speaking to our correspondent on the telephone and confirming the phone call expenses, Samuel said, “The budget has not been approved.”
However, our correspondent gathered that students of the university are divided over the budget.
One of them, Sammy, said, “How will they say they want to make phone calls with that kind of money when we are all complaining of poor toilet facilities and lack of food in our hostels. This is extreme wickedness.” http://www.punchng.com/education/student-union-leaders-budget-n1-8m-for-phone-calls/

Crime › Disabled Nigerian Drug Trafficker Diesof Swallowed Cocaine Pellets In Hospital. by murphyibiam15(op): 7:45pm On Sep 14, 2015 |
Fifty-five-year-old, physically challenged Nigerian, Ambrose Okeke Ifedilichukwe, who was arrested last Thursday, at the Kotoka International Airport, Ghana, for swallowing pellets of powdered substances suspected to be cocaine has died. He died on Saturday evening after going through surgery at the 37 Military Hospital, where he expelled 46 of the pellets, reports Ghanaian Times. He had earlier confessed to officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) during interrogation that he swallowed the substance to be delivered to somebody for a fee of $6,000. NACOB is a Ghananian agency concerned with the formulation and enforcement of narcotics laws, as well as preventing the use, import, and export of narcotics. Nii Lante Blankson, Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Enforcement at NACOB, who disclosed yesterday, said he suspected that some of the pellets might have burst in the stomach. He said Ifedilichukwe, who is physically-challenged, was on an Emirate flight from Cote d’ Ivoire en-route to Hong-Kong via Dubai, but while on the flight, the flight attendants noticed he was fidgeting. On reaching the Kotoka International Airport, Mr. Ifedilichukwe, was handed over to airport officials who took him to the Aviation Clinic where it was observed that he had swallowed illicit substances. Mr. Blankson said NACOB personnel on duty at the airport, were consequently informed of the situation and they went to the clinic to interrogate the suspect, who admitted swallowing pellets of substance to be delivered for somebody for a fee of $6,000. Ifedilichukwe was subsequently taken to the Akai House Clinic at Cantonments, where an X-ray examination confirmed some substances in his stomach. The medical officer on duty advised that the suspect expel the substances before he could be treated, hence he was taken back to the Aviation Clinic, but his condition worsened, and he was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he was operated upon. He died later while receiving treatment. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/how-disabled-nigerian-drug-trafficker-died-of-swallowed-cocaine-pellets-in-hospital/cc:lalasticlala |
