Why am I not surprised with Jonathan at the helm. Afterall, it is said that the fish rots from the head down.

Shoddy journalism! Femi is 52 years old, not 46. If they can't even get his age right, who knows how true this story is?

Hmmm, strange decision by Femi to return the children to their mother. As a father myself, I can not imagine suddenly having to disown children I have raised and bonded with, on the basis of some DNA test or the other. I have news for you, Femi Kuti, a real man will not do what you have done. Being a father is more than biological!

BusinessRe: Jonathan Refutes MURIC's Allegation Of Jewish Symbol On N100 Note by Muscomide: 9:35am On Nov 25, 2014
ayukdaboss:
Lately, the symbols on the Naira Note has become more important than the value of the note itself with various religious bodies challenging every sign they see on it.

These are the 2 controversies I've read about:

1) The David Cross: Which one is the David Cross againhuh How does the David Cross affect the value of the Naira? I'm a Christian..I've never ever heard about the David Cross and possibly many other Christians too so I'm surprised the Muslim body had enough time to research about the David cross when there are more important things for them to think about.

2) The Arabic Symbols: In as much as I have little reservations about this particular one, I'll want to ask us Nigerians, how has this affected the value of the Naira? When did you notice the Arabic symbols on the Naira? For me I noticed those Arabic symbols the day I read about it on Nairaland this Month and I just casually checked it. It doesn't mean I'm insensitive to issues concerning my country. It means as far as it has never been a big deal over 10 years now, it never will.

It's a shame Christian religious bodies/leaders were linking the Arabic symbols on the Naira with the Islamization of Nigeria

I'll urge us as Nigerians to DESIST from tribalism and religious bigotry even if our religious and political leaders encourage us to do so because it's going to lead us NO-WHERE as a country.

If we continue like this, there'll become a time where Muslims would prefer voting a "Cow" who is a Muslim than a Sane man who is a Christian and vice versa.

Nigerians, please lets shun bigotry for our own good.
My guy, you talk sense die! Sadly, a large majority of our compatriots are confused and brain dead!

When will our media (print, electronic and new media) stop with this habit of ascribing statements and comments made by Okupe and Abati to the President? Where in this story has it been proven that the President himself made these comments?
The likes of Okupe and Abati are mere spokespersons, not mouthpieces, and they have both been shown to be uncouth, provocative and irrational in their public utterances.

Only days ago, a preposterous headline was again attributed to Jonathan, saying in response to OBJ, that he (Jonathan) was the best Nigerian leader since independence. I saw this headline and immediately thought that Jonathan must truly be a drunk to make such a ridiculous and outlandish claim. On closer inspection however, it transpired that the claim was made not by Jonathan himself, but by one or the other of his paid lackeys, I forget which. One doubts that Jonathan himself will ever make such a claim with the country in the state its in presently. With the increasing ridiculousness of the outlandish claims made by the duo of Okupe and Abati, we stand the risk of 'overheating our already hot polity' by putting the erratic words of these two paid Presidential hacks and buffoons directly into the mouth of the President.

For all Jonathan's weaknesses in the art of oratory and diplomatic speak, Okupe and Abati have been shown to come a distant second and third to Jonathan.

Get it right here, Onyeka is an epitome of beauty. Do you know what it means for a woman of her age to remain as beautiful as Onyeka??
Unlike you, I find it hard to see the 'beauty' in a woman who has sold her integrity for thirty pieces of silver shekel. This is a woman who had no qualms coming out on national television to defend the inaction of her PDP paymasters at the height of the Chibok girls kidnap saga. Danladi sanni has fought for reinstatement since 2012 from the Taraba State high court to federal high court , court of appeal and before getting a judgement that favored him at the Supreme court. Was it your fathom group that made the arrangement for him to pursue the case since 2012 when Suntai was still fit and the governor.

You just talk as if a litigant can just wake up.and go straight to get judgement as the supreme court. This case was all about Danladi Sanni, he fought his battle all alone. He got this ruling on his own right no body made any stupid arrangement or negotiation with him.

He was fighting his impeachment as deputy and he got something higher based on the present reality in Taraba with the elected governor hospitalized.

Nigerians, we need to stop this recourse to jungle justice. Nothing warrants this level of depravity. We all remember that in 2013, when two Nigerian Islamist youths mowed down and tried to behead a serving British soldier on the streets of London, they were arrested, prosecuted and given lengthy jail terms. The British people did not carry out mob justice on the two Nigerians, even though some may argue that they were well deserving of it. What is wrong with us? Why are we so depraved and barbaric as a people?

I

This is an excellent contribution. I must say you wrote well.

You are not far from the truth. But the fact remains that the hate did not start today. It's a long time and a long story. IGBOS were hated all over the country. IGBOS are free minded people. They love to interact with other tribes and even marry other tribes. Up until ow, the igbos have not changed, they still love to live anywhere in the country, do their bypusiness, have their kids and even build houses outside their region. What have we gotten for all these, HATE from the north and south west. It was obviously displayed when LAGOS callously deported innocent people claiming they were destitutes. The governor of LAGOS is a lawyer who knows the law and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, but out of hate, he chose to ignore that constitution and did as it pleased he and his cohort.
That action resonated across the nation and we knew what almost came out of it if not that the presidency stood its ground to halt such nefarious exercise.
Today we have GEJ in Aso rock, a northern Muslim doesn't want to see him there, and joined by the hate southwest unrepentantly has for the people of SE and SS, they joined in calling for GEJ's head even when it is obvious the president is trying in all standard.
Now, 80% of our revenue comes from oil and gas. Where do these products come from? From the Niger delta, South south. This is the first time a man from that minority's region is leading this country. Haba, for CHRIST sake, why can we allow him run this country peacefully. If for nothing else, even if he wants a second term, it is justifiable and equitable, we should support him to perform well while in office. But he'll NO, what we have from the north is hate, south west, hate, especially from the southwest muslims. We've had 80% of our heads of state and presidents come from the north, why can't we give GEJ a chance to work.

The north is acting the way they act now because they are more in the army, and secondly, they don't have investments outside their region. So they feel don't have anything to lose. But we will keep our fingers crossed. As you rightly said, they are replaying what led to civil war in 1967. May God help us all.
Thanks for your input. Unlike you however, I do not agree that President Jonathan is 'trying'. You seem to have a kind of 'persecution complex' which makes you think that people are against you because you are of Igbo or South-South extraction. Are we to settle for mediocrity in office merely because this President is from the Niger Delta, the goose that lays the golden eggs? Jonathan is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Office with all the paraphernalia of office at his disposal. With the might of the armed forces at his disposal, it is his duty to ensure that the country is peaceful for us all. That is the contract we signed with him four years ago when he was voted into office. In what way is GEJ 'trying' exactly, pray tell?

Whilst in the throes of what I term your 'persecution complex', you conveniently forget that Obasanjo, a Yoruba from the South-west was instrumental in GEJ's ascendancy to the pinnacle of political power in Nigeria. How soon you forget the role played by the same South-West you now denigrate when Yar-Adua died and the Northern Cabal were scheming to prevent a Vice-President Jonathan from succeeding the late Yar-Adua. You see to the Yoruba, what is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong. There is no in-between.

By his inept, incompetent and weak Presidency, Jonathan has wastefully squandered the massive goodwill reposed in him four years ago. For this reason and this reason only, is he going to lose the support of the South-West at next year's elections. In trying to divide Yoruba votes by introducing religion into Yoruba politics, Jonathan is further pursuing his divide and rule agenda. If Jonathan and his advisers understand the sophistication of the Yoruba electorate, they will know that they are bound to fail in this. What unites Yoruba is a shared cultural heritage, language and history, not whether one worships on a Friday or a Sunday.
PoliticsRe: Graphic: See Photos From The First Bank Bomb Blast In Bauchi by Muscomide: 11:00am On Nov 08, 2014
Going through the posts on this thread, it is clear that the average Igbo man/woman still harbours a lot of deep seated resentment against their perceived enemies, the Northerners. This is very unfortunate. It is also evident that the Igbo are wary of the Yoruba for seemingly forming a coalition with the North to remove Jonathan from power next year. In a way, this is the whole First Republic scenario playing itself out again. We all know where that ended - a civil war that lasted for 30 months with the loss of an estimated two million lives.

For those now beating the drums of war in Nigeria again, war no be 'beans' o.

From the posts on this thread, it is obvious that a lot of Igbo and people from the South-south never want to entertain the notion of a President of Northern extraction in Nigeria ever again. To such people, I urge restraint and pragmatism. Democracy is a game of numbers. Combined, the peoples of the core North and the South-west outnumber the Igbo and South-south combined. Where in the world does the minority rule over the majority?

One's fear is that the intransigence being shown by the Igbo and South-south peoples towards a Northern Presidency does not bode well for Nigeria. Is it realistic to expect that no Northerner ever rules Nigeria again in the future? Can the minority continue to lord it over the majority indefinitely?

I remember a bomb hit Boston and killed 2 Americans who participated in the Boston Marathon. The whole media was awash with the news. CNN and other mainstream media gave us minute-by-minute update on how the two suspects were being tracked. Nigerians got so interested and emotional about people they knew very little about. The Nigerian social media space trended with things like "Pray for Boston", "America we are with you," Even the Federal Government of Nigeria extended their sympathy to the people of the United States. While the hollywood-like search for the two suspects went on, there was at least 7 bomb blasts in Nigeria that killed scores of people, yet the same Nigerian's that were all over social media "praying" for Americans moved on and kept mute like nothing happened. What did the GEJ do? He went on a campaign rally dancing behind a twerking woman, whose picture was circulated by my friend and brother Nasir El-Rufai.

Fast forward till today, in less than two weeks we have had over 100 people killed by the Haramites using bombs! Upper and lower limbs littered all over the place, innocent blood soaking and drenching our land; Cities captured and renamed, and a whole lot of atrocities. Yet, our media has focused on Tambuwal. Other new media such as Linda Ikeji and Nairaland preferred to turn their focus on big booties. And what did our president do? He jetted out to Burkina Faso to broker a change in power, while his people and his country are under siege by the haramites. No presidential statement have been made about the captured Nigerian territories. No presidential statement on the bombed people of Gombe and Bauchi people, and the list goes on and on.

Are we as Nigerians and our government now thick-skinned to the loss of Nigerian lives? Does Jonathan even deserve to be called the President of Nigeria. Why do people living south, make such outrageous statements as "Let them keep killing themselves?" Is this now the level of Nigerian humanity?

I have said this and I will say it again, If this haramite madness continues, we must be prepared to kiss Nigeria goodbye come 2015. There is imminent war and violence brewing in all parts of Nigeria, except the South West and North-West. This war and violence will definitely consume Nigeria, and Jonathan will be our last president if he attempts to rig. Again, if this incompetent and wicked leader rigs this elections, then I can tell you with all sincerity, we must kiss Nigeria good bye. History is a good teacher, and we cannot ignore the American Intelligence report on the existence of Nigeria beyond 2015. As for me. I have refurnished my house Iowa, United States ready to be occupied if GEJ presses that botton. Unfortunately not all Nigerians can escape a burning country. For this reason, we must fight this government out of power for the survival of Nigeria.

It is not all gloomy. We have a chance to change the status quo. We have a chance to change the rot of corruption in Nigeria and allow Nigeria exist beyond 2015. We have that chance in General Mohammadu Buhari. I can tell you, the people's General will certainly make politics unattractive to looters, once they have been locked up in jail and the keys thrown away.

A word is enough for the wise!

I still don't get the logic behind arguments like this. GEJ is not the President of Southern Nigeria, he is the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Among the casualties are Christians, Muslims, Southerners and Northerners, common men like you and I. Don't they deserve protection? People that got killed are regular folks who came to withdraw their salary, even if the Northern leaders are devils, the onus is on GEJ as the President to defend and protect his citizens. These "innocent souls" need protection from the man in charge of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and DSS he is the most powerful man in this country.
