National leader, All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu voted at his polling unit 047 at Sunday Adigun, Alausa in Ikeja on Saturday and said the party will accept the outcome of a free a fair election.

Tinubu said a true democrat would accept the outcome of a free and fair election if the party should lose.
“I will accept the result of the election if we lose, that is the people’s verdict, any democrat that cannot accept the result of a free and fair contest is not worthy of the name being call a democrat. He must be able to accept the result of a free and fair election,” he said.

He, however, expressed determination that the APC would win the election.
“Winning is my hope and determination for my party; we are winning because we have the support of the masses, look back at our rally, that is an indication who has the populace, we are not talking about the elite, the rich, but the traders, artisans and the common man,” he said.
According to him, if the opposition rejected the outcome of the election, it showed they were not democrats, and that “they don’t believe in the value and philosophy, you can see their desperation.”

Tinubu also said the election had been successful so far, and that this demonstrated the resiliency of Nigerians,
He said he would give the electorate the credit because despite the fact that their hope was dashed last week when the election was postponed, they still came out in large number to cast their votes.
Tinubu also commended INEC for doing a great job.
“I am satisfy with what INEC is doing so far, You don’t drive yourself like a vehicle, you can easily develop fuel problem on the highway,” he said, adding that INEC’s challenges so far had to do with the problem of nature.

Superstar fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has died aged 85 in Paris following a short illness.
The German designer, who was the creative director for Chanel and Fendi, was one of the industry's most prolific figures and worked up until his death.
His signature ponytail and dark glasses made him an instantly recognisable figure around the world.
Industry heavyweights, including Italian designer Donatella Versace, issued heartfelt tributes.
"Today the world lost a giant among men," said the editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour.
Rumours of Lagerfeld's ill health had swirled for several weeks after he missed a number of events - including Chanel's spring/summer show last month.
He died on Tuesday morning after being admitted to hospital the night before, French media report.
As a designer he transformed the fortunes of Chanel, one of the leading names in high fashion, but his work also filtered down to the high street.
Away from his work, Lagerfeld made headlines for a range of provocative, and sometimes offensive, statements.

Suspected bandits killed the elder sister of Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, Hajia Ade Marafa in Ruwan Bore community in Gusau Local Government area of Zamfara State.
The bandits, who also went away with her husband, Alhaji Ibrahim and his brother, stormed their residence in the early hours of Tuesday.

The bandits, bearing dangerous weapons, including guns, operated at the residence and in the whole village for hours from 3.am.

The husband to the late senator’s sister, Alhaji Ibrahim, has not been released as at the time of filing this report.

Grammy-winning musician James Ingram has died at age 66. His death was announced by his close friend, actress Debbie Allen on her Twitter page on Tuesday, Jan. 29. No cause of death was given.

The two-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and music producer is best known for his platinum-selling duets such as "One Hundred Ways" with Quincy Jones,
"Baby, Come to Me" with Pattie Austin, and "Yah Mo B There" with Michael McDonald.
He began his career in 1973 with the band Revelation Funk. He later played keyboards for Ray Charles.
Before becoming famous in his own right, Ingram's younger brother, Phillip Ingram, hit the top of the charts as a member the '70s R&B group Switch.

In 1981, Ingram was tapped by composer Quincy Jones to sing the lead on "One Hundred Ways" off Quincy's jazz album The Dude. "One Hundred Ways" earned Ingram his first Grammy Award.
Ingram went on to work with other established superstars, including Donna Summer, Anita Baker, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole, Kenny Rogers and more.

In 1984, Ingram scored three Grammy nominations for his duet with Patti Austin, "How Do You Keep the Music Playing" ; "PYT (Pretty Young Thing" , for Michael Jackson, a top 10 single which he and Quincy co-wrote, and his track "Party Animal" .
In Oct. 1990, Ingram scored a No. 1 hit with the love ballad "I Don't Have the Heart" , from his It's Real album.

The chairman Nasarawa State Traditional Council of Chiefs , Isah Mustapha Awgai I, is dead, aged 84.

Confirming the news to The PUNCH in Lafia on Thursday , a member of Lafia Emirate Council , Ajiyan , Lafia , Sule Abubakar, said the emir passed on at the Nazemiya Teaching Hospital , Abuja , in the early hours of Thursday after an illness .

He said the deceased , who was born on March 14 , 1934 , ascended the throne in 1974 .
It was gathered that the late emir had been sick for over four months before he was flown abroad for medical attention. He was later brought back to Nigeria and later died in Abuja at a private hospital.

Tekashi69 ' s got a date with the judge - - he got a trial date in court Monday morning after he entered a plea in his federal racketeering case .

Mr Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector General of Police, has ordered, with immediate effect the recovery of the two AK47 riffles and a Berretta piston allegedly snatched from a slain police officer and others by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Nnewi during a protest last week.
ACP Jimoh Moshood, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, made this known in Awka on Sunday evening while parading 33 suspected members of IPOB arrested by the Anambra command.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has insisted that every member of the party’s national working committee (NWC) must take orders from him.
The national legal adviser of the party, Babatunde Ogala, had accused Oshiomhole of usurping his office.
Ogala, in an internal memo addressed to the chairman, accused the chairman of sidelining the party’s legal department.

The United States Institute of Peace has said that President Muhammadu Buhari may win the 2019 election. USIP noted that though many Nigerians stated that his government had not met their expectations , this may not cost the All Progressives Congress its hold on power .
The Institute said this in a report on the forthcoming general election , which it claimed was based on its interactions with Nigerians from different sectors.
The USIP report contradicted the two predictions by The Economist magazine, which stated that Buhari would be defeated in the February poll.

The USIP report read , “Many Nigerians feel their hopes have not been met. Some respondents suggest the electorate is sufficiently disappointed that voter apathy will be greater in 2019 than it was in 205, with the unifying narrative of change that helped elect the APC in 2015 much less compelling as a factor in mobilising the electorate, and perceptions that another defeat of the presidential incumbent is less likely to happen in 2019. ”
