Cleft is a medical condition that mar the facial appearance of it victim, as it splits the lip of it victim into 2 or more unequal parts. This was the story of Bello Muhammadu from Kebbi state, Nigeria. Muhammadu lived life as an outsider in his remote village in Jega due to his cleft lip condition.

His parents were poor peasant famers who couldn’t afford a correctional surgery for their son Muhammadu. At an early age he faced discrimination from his peers for looking different. His first day at school was no different, even his teacher paid little or no attention on him due to his condition. Muhammadu stopped going to school due to discrimination by fellow classmate. He was always lonely and so he found more comfort rearing his father’s cattle in the wild than being seen among people.

Many people especially close family members were happy to learn that a free medical team of Oral Health Advocacy Initiative (OHAI): a non-governmental organization, who give free correctional treatment to the kind of ailment suffered by their relative Bello Muhammadu, was in town, so they went and inform the father.

The father sent for his son to come home immediately and when he did arrive, Muhammadu rejected the surgery stating that he fears not being recognized by his father’s cattle after the surgical operation. After much persuasion he succumbed to the will of the father.

After a successful surgery, words travelled all nooks and crannies of his village about the transformation and everyone wanted to see him. Muhammadu himself was full of surprise with the number of villagers all singing and dancing around him like a new child was born and he ask his father, “will the cattle recognize me”? The father reply “yes they will and they will be proud of you”.

What exercise does to the heart

When you exercise regularly, your body's tissue (including the heart) does a better job of pulling oxygen from your blood. This allows your heart to work better under stress and keeps you from getting winded during high-intensity activities.

Physical activity also allows better blood flow in the small blood vessels around your heart. Clogs in these arteries can lead to heart attacks. There's also evidence that exercise helps your body make more branches and connections between these blood vessels, so there are other routes for your blood to travel if narrow arteries or fatty deposits block the usual path.

Exercise also increases your levels of HDL cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol that lowers heart disease risk by flushing the artery-clogging LDL or "bad" cholesterol out of your system.

Along with lowering your risk for heart disease, exercise:

·      Lowers your risk for some types of cancer.
