NYSC / FG To Mainstream NYSC Into UN Programme by Myschoolmatter(m): 6:31pm On Oct 18, 2014
The Federal Government has on Thursday, unfolded plans to mainstream the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), initiative into the United Nations programme.

This is to give the scheme a global outlook where other nations can tap from its initiative.

The Minister of Youths Development, Boni Haruna, who spoke in Abuja, during a meeting with the officials UN-Habitat and NYSC, said the scheme had recorded massive achievements since its inception

According to him, setting all programmes in the scheme into the UN will attract global appreciation, even as it creates a platform for national integration and youth development.

Boni also said the essence of the meeting is not only to re-establish relationship with the UN but to create opportunities for Nigerians to be seen as an active contributor.

In his remarks, the Director of Global Monitoring and Research Division in the UN-Habitat, Professor Banji Oyeyinka, underscored the need to document NYSC for global visibility.

He said this will help the country attract more supports for the scheme, instead of having the Federal Government solely running the scheme.

Professor Banji added that this will also change the negative global perspective about the country.

“Nigeria is a very strong player in the UN, the NYSC has not been documented in a way that is visible to the world when you have documentation, you attract more people. For instance, Nigeria have always carried the whole scheme by its self and we believe that if the world knows the achievements of this institution, we are likely to attract more supports into the scheme.

“ It is also about advocating for our selves everyone talks about all the things that are happening with the youths, with all the insurgency ,we have something else to give to the world and for us, this is something we can give to the world. In our situation with UN habitat, we are set up to fix the member states it is like a bureaucracy of the world.

“We want the world to see that we have done a scheme for 40 years ,a very successful institution that have sustained ,irrespective of all the troubles we have that we want the world to know that Nigeria can sustain a programme.

Education / What You Need To Know As A student Before Graduation by Myschoolmatter(m): 10:27am On Oct 17, 2014
As a student you probably would not believe
us if
we tell you that are absolutely naive and no,
you
are not on top of the world.
You will soon graduate from the university,
service
year is going to be awesome (at least
according to
the stories you’ve heard).
After service, you are going to get a job, have
a
family, build a home, become a millionaire
and live
happily ever after.
There is just one problem with your plan. The
only
problem with your plan is the real world.
This article is to lets students know things to
look
out for before they graduate so they don’t get
railroaded.
1. A Degree Does Not Entitle You To A Job
We all know getting a degree means a lot of
hard
work and commitment but because you have
a
degree does not mean somebody is going to
grant
you an automatic job offer.
Gone are the days when all you needed to get
a
good job was a university degree.
We were all told the same lies ...read more

Education / Why It’s Never To Late To Go Back Toschool by Myschoolmatter(m): 6:51pm On Oct 15, 2014
The public perception of a person’s path
through Toronto education has for the
longest
time been “one then done,” with every
student
following the same basic route: High school,
post-secondary, and then onto the
workforce,
without a glance back. The idea of continuing
education, or further education later in life
carries certain stigmas around it which
should
be dispelled. There are many benefits to
pursuing education further down the road. It
can enhance your life, it can forward your
career, and it can be done on your terms,
without disturbing the life you already lead.
Let’s take a closer look at these benefits:
1. The world is changing, and it pays to keep
up
Really, you should never stop learning. The
world advances and evolves, and it can
benefit you to stay current. More
importantly, though, you may have to. As
the times change, so does what you need
to know to stay on the job. What you
learned when you were in school may now
be less relevant to your career, and
keeping abreast of the technology and
practices of your organization is a never-
ending process.
If you’re in engineering, or machines, or
computing, or anything else involving
technology, it’s particularly essential to
learn about the latest developments, and
the practices that go with them. After all, if
there’s one constant ...read more

Education / Sages On Stages Desperately Needed by Myschoolmatter(m): 5:24pm On Oct 14, 2014
It was the first premise of all schools
throughout history: students would be
educated by people who were themselves
already educated. A biology teacher had to
be an expert in biology; a history teacher
must know history to teach history. Who
would question the wisdom of these
statements? This country’s Education
Establishment now preaches a […] read more http://myschoolmatter.com/sages-stages-desperatelyneeded/
