Barcelona RAIDED: Police arrest super-club's ex-president Josep Bartomeu, their CEO, head of legal and search offices for evidence over social media 'smear campaign' against Lionel Messi and Co

Josep Maria Bartomeu has been arrested by Spanish police for his involvement in the 'Barcagate' smear campaign scandal during his time as their club president.

Bartomeu is one of four people to have been arrested so far, with Barcelona's CEO Oscar Grau and head of legal services Roman Gomez Ponti two of those. Jaume Masferrer, who acted as an adviser to Bartomeu, is the other.

On Monday morning, Spanish police entered Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium in a search and seize operation. Bartomeu was arrested at home. The Economic Crimes Unit of the Catalonia Police Force are overseeing the searches.

Spanish media said the operation was related to last year's 'Barcagate,' in which club officials were accused of launching a smear campaign against current and former players who were critical of the club and then-president Bartomeu.

Star man Lionel Messi, veteran defender Gerard Pique and former manager, now Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola were among those targeted by the negative stories and social media posts.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has revealed that referee Stuart Attwell refused to award a first half penalty against Chelsea due to fear of controversy.

United believe they should have been awarded a penalty early in the first half when Callum Hudson-Odoi hit the ball with his arm.

This happened after Edouard Mendy punched away a ball from Marcus Rashford.

The VAR official immediately called the referee to look at the screen as it should have been a spot kick.

The referee decided not go give the penalty and the match ended 0-0.

After the match Shaw, spoke to Sky Sports and said:

"If it isn't a penalty, there was no need to stop the match," Shaw said.

"The ref even told Maguire that 'if he awards a pen then it is going to cause a lot of talks after the game'. He told Maguire clearly it was a penalty."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticised LeBron James and other politically involved athletes on Thursday in his interview with Discovery Plus.

Ibrahimovic said: 'it is a mistake for James and other athletes to get involved in political causes, just do what you do best, because it doesn't look good.'

The first police officer to find Tiger Woods at the scene of his car accident has revealed that the golfer is 'lucky to be alive' as he was driving at high speed.

Investigators will also test if he had drugs or alcohol in his system before the crash.

Deputy Carlos Gonzalez found Tiger Woods conscious in the driver seat of his Genesis GV80 SUV around 7am on Tuesday morning.

A neighbor who heard the car crash immediately called 911, and on arriving at the scene Gonzalez realized that the golfer was too badly injured for him to move alone.

Woods was wearing a seatbelt before the crash.

'When I first arrived at the scene, Mr Woods was still in the driver's seat,' Gonzalez said.

'He spoke to me. He was very calm and lucid. I kept Mr Woods talking until LA fire department arrived on the scene.

'He said his name was Tiger, and this was when I immediately recognized him. He was lucid and calm.

'He was not exactly concerned about his injuries, which is normal in car accidents. They might in a state of shock, and pain not felt until later.'

Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet broke down in tears when fans approached his car, after his foul gave away a penalty to Cadiz.

In the match against Cadiz, Lionel Messi gave Barcelona the lead through a penalty early on.

Barcelona appeared to have won the match and secured all points before Clement Lenglet's poor tackle.

In the closing stages of the match, Lenglet's poor tackle challenge gave Cadiz a penalty in the 89th minute.

Alex Fernandez scored from the spot for Cadiz to make it 1-1.

Zurich vs Sion in the Swiss Football League was interrupted after the dog ran onto the pitch.

The dog named Cookie went straight to the pitch after FC Zurich scored to make it 1-1 after 40 minutes.

The Ambulance broke down after attending to an injured player, who had to be taken off.
