@ Since1914, do not defend the indefensible by painting an adverse picture of SA. There's too much freedom and rights in SA. In that context you'd have certain groups trying to exploit the situation.

Well I can't say the same about Naija. I've seen a number labourers who are treated like dogs and aren't provided with protect I've gear. Who will they complain to? In SA this isn't the case. So continue making intelligent comments without becoming a prophet of doom at other countries.

Just take Nigeria as that elephant carcass which must be chopped off into pieces, but when you haven't chopped much & there you go jump into your neighbour's yard to cut off his sheep's carcass instead. Don't worry, his managing just fine. You still got too much elephant carcass to chop off
.

since1914:
@ MzansiBeat...at least the report did not say Nigeria is borrowing from South Africa to pay salary. Most certainly, the borrowing is local, and will likely be funded by local Nigerian banks. The inferiority complex displayed by some Africans towards Nigerians is almost getting irritating. As Nigerians, we know we have lots of problems and we have never denied them, rather we keep shouting ourselves hoarse at every given opportunity we get, to discuss the way forward...Yet other Africans abandon all of their own domestic problems to focus on that of Nigeria. I personally fear for South Africa because, there is a huge social crisis brewing there, all the Xenophobic attacks and the incessant violent labour strikes are only symptoms of a deeper problem - the staggering disparity of the social, economic and educational conditions between South African blacks and the whites. Which if not tackled soonest, will lead to an inevitable civil war. So OP, that is what you should be worried about, and not about how we foot our bills.

Back to the issue at hand, I hope NOI is begining to see all that we had warned her about several months ago. We have no business borrowing to pay salaries if we had been more prudent with our earnings. Most Nigerians might not have Economics degrees from Harvard, but at least they still have commonsense.

No where has South Africa been mentioned in this article angry. I'm unsure what's the hysteria all about. Among the 52 countries which make up this continent you can only think of SA! Why doe the mere mention of this country tend to haunt some of you this much?

What's this assertion about black or white? Are these human beings perhaps? I've never seen a black or white human being in SA for that matter. Perhaps in Nigeria or west Africa you get quite a few (pitch black) of those, but not white ones - who look like your standard A4 paper.

Therefore, can you refrain from dragging SA or this black/white chronic obsession into this thread, but rather interrogate the state of your country's finances as mirrored by this article. Perhaps you could then start making intelligent inputs like some have done. We need to help build this country'ooo. One Naija! Thanks for complying.

Politics / Africa's Richest Economy Surviving On Borrowed Cash...(rotf) Such A Giant! Smh by MzansiBeat: 5:53pm On May 06, 2015
"Lagos - Africa's richest economy is borrowing money to pay salaries as it struggles through a "difficult cash crunch" brought on by halved oil prices, Nigeria's finance minister revealed on Tuesday.

The news comes as Nigeria prepares to welcome a new government at the end of month and its naira currency remains in a slump, hovering between 180 and 220 to the US dollar. It was trading at 160 a few months ago.

Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala tried to be upbeat in a speech after the legislature on Tuesday approved the 2015 budget thrice revised because of slashed oil prices that provide 80% of revenue for the government of Africa's biggest petroleum producer.

She said "revenue challenges" have prohibited the release of any funds for capital expenditure this year but that food prices and single-digit inflation remain quite stable. And she said the economy still is on course to grow 4.8% this year.

"We have front-loaded the borrowing program to manage the cash crunch," Okonjo-Iweala told legislators. "Out of the ?882bn budgetary provision for borrowing, the government has borrowed ?473bn to meet up with recurrent expenditure, including salaries and overheads."

That's bad news for the incoming government of President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, who takes over May 29 from incumbent Goodluck Jonathan.

Buhari acknowledges that constricted revenue and endemic corruption threaten his will to deliver on development and reconstruction of areas devastated by a nearly 6-year-old Islamic uprising in the northeast.

He says his fight against corruption should produce the money needed to bring change to a country where petroleum riches benefit a small clique while the majority of the 170 million people in Africa's most populous nation live hand to mouth.

Critics blame the financial crisis in part on the most expensive election ever held in Nigeria, though no one knows how much politicians from both sides spent trying to buy influence and bribe voters".

+700 women have been reportedly found yet you are still talking of the Chibok girls! What could be worse between the Chibok girls and the thousands of women kidnapped? Isn't this an indictment over you people that you care-less for your own? Conspiracy theories and speculative narrations are just that. We should not even be talking of those kidnapped girls now.

iyobs7:

Thank you my brother, Nigerians are too dull and fickle minded to think for themselves, we are all names and no brains.

How can thousands be missing and yet people did not cry out? Those that were rescued are wives and children of those so called freedom fighters.

No chibok girls were kidnapped, it was all a lie. I kept wondering how could more than 250 girls be marched out of a community with lorries and yet no one saw or heard them when they were being taken away. Even the mama peace that Nigerians laugh at was even sensible enough to ask " Principal na only you waka come?"

They were writing waec and those that claimed to be rescued couldn't even speak English and I heard they were writing physics, tell me were they writing physics with Hausa language?

It was a hostel accommodation, does that mean that the hostels had no stewards that were in charge of the hostels?

When Jonathan said it was all a lie, people labelled him heartless.

What a waste if education we have in this country where men and women who boast of burning candles cannot even think for themselves.

What a shame of a nation.

READ THIS:-

...Findings in Sambisa raise questions about our national records of Nigerians and the implications for our safety. Thousands were abducted to Sambisa and Nigeria was “unaware”. People were not declared missing, and when “found”, we have no records to establish if they are Nigerians. Can we protect people we cannot count? The rescued are more than the size of most Nigerian villages. How could they miss and we did not know? Sambisa is more – we should abridge the “celebrations”....

AFTER READING THIS, YOU MUST KNEEL DOWN ON ALL FOURS AND ASK FOR FORGIVENESS. INSTEAD OF BEATING YOUR GORILLA-SWEATY- HAIRY CHEST, YOU MUST GO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR COUNTRY.

YOU PEOPLE DON'T EVEN KNOW OR AWARE OF THE THOUSANDS THAT WERE MISSING FROM YOUR MIDST, AND THIS IS EXTREMELY DISGUSTING AND DEPLORABLE! YOU MUST SHUT UP, FOR YOU GOT NOTHING TO SAY BESIDE SITTING THERE IN YOUR DARK - BACKWARD CORNER WHERE YOU CAN FEEL SORRY FOR YOURSELVES.

"What is happening in South Africa – I don’t see it happen again; it is over. God is in control.

“The wound of one should be the wound of all. Whatever happens in any African country, we should come together – what can we do? What happens in Nigeria – every African should be concerned. Every African should be concerned with whatever happens in South Africa. We should see it as if it happens in our own country.

"The wound of one should be the wound of all. Every continent is like a human being. South Africa is a hand; Ghana is another hand. Nigeria may be a leg; Congo could be an eye. In the body, if anything happens to a part of it, the whole body will feel it.

“The wound of one should be the wound of all. Today, if anything happens to a country, people say they will carry their people – where are you carrying your people to? Why can’t we come together and redeem our continent?

A group of Nigerians living in Mahatma Gandhi Road in Durban have vowed to defend themselves if attacked by the locals.

Solomon Okoro, 31, according to iol.co.za, said they have been receiving threatening messages but were alert and prepared for any trouble if police are not willing to protect them. He said they would have guns, knives and bottles ready. Okoro said they have no choice but to defend themselves if under attack.

“It is not like we do not know how to fight. It would not be a good thing because this is not our country, we are not here to fight. Also local people are our friends, we eat and
drink together. Those fighting are racist – they cannot live side by side with other Africans.

We (did) a lot for this country during apartheid. But now that everything is hunky dory we are being attacked… This smacks of hypocrisy,” he said.

Okoro is happily married to a Zulu wife and claims that if he had to go back to Nigeria, it would have a negative effect on his child. He disputed the accusation that the Nigerians living in the Point area were involved in crime.

“I come from the Igbo tribe. I am a king’s son and I came here with lots of money to set up a clothing shop. Most of us are businessmen who have contributed to the economy by employing locals in our hair salons and shops.

These are just greedy people who cannot stand our success… If these accusations are anything to go by, why not report those involved in crime to police? Not every foreigner is a drug dealer,” Okoro said.

Emmanuel Ike, 35, said his government had given South Africa an ultimatum to come up with a solution, otherwise they would close down all South African businesses.

“There are more than 240 SA businesses in my country and all of them come with their own staff, so to say we are taking your jobs is nonsense. We should be questioning why you are not employing our people back home.”

We are a hard working nation who do not look for handouts from the government. We work for ourselves,” Ike said.

Kumba Samou, 42, of Liberia said he had received a desperate call from his mother asking about his well-being.

“We are seeing what is happening on television. If you are not safe, please come home. I do not want you to die there,” she said.
