You're comparing which brought him the bigger fame. Meanwhile that's not been my point all these while. It's a good thing he has gained popularity from BBN and also from his movies. If he continues like this, he'll become and household name in no time.

The whole argument is about those trying to compare Tobi Bakre with those that don't have anything going on for them in this entertainment industry apart from this BBN thing.

BBN was not the endgame for Tobi Bakre in the entertainment industry. And thankfully everything has worked out for him.

I'm sure it's not the endgame for Mercy either. Probably things didn't go as planned, reason she's here risking everything.

In today's world, "reality TV star", "Social media influencer", etc are titles used to describe high paying and life changing jobs in entertainment.

Kim Kardashian and her sisters have enjoyed fame and the wealth of Hollywood without acting any movie or singing.

Kim Kardashian is bigger, richer, influential and more famous than Kate Winslet and Scarlett Johansson who are my favourite actresses. The BBN housemates are invited to grace the biggest movie awards in Nigeria. Beauty won AMVCA, didn't she?

Judging Reality TV stars who have become social media influencers like BBN past housemates based on the achievement of professionals in other departments of entertainment is like comparing apples to oranges.

It's like comparing Fresh Prince (Will smith) as a musician to 50 cents and 50 cents as an actor to Fresh Prince (Will Smith). DMX and 50 cents are better known as rappers no matter how many movies they've acted.
Even in Nigeria, Nkem Owoh, Tonto Dike and Mama G have attempted music but are still identified as actors.

Mercy Eke featured in Shanty Town (a Netflix series), Venita is an actress as well as Pere. Falz who is identified as a rapper and singer won the AMVCA. Nobody thinks of Falz as an actor at first instance nor do they rank him better than Olamide and Wizkid because of his acting career.

No matter what Tobi becomes in the Entertainment industry, his BBN fame will always overshadow him (at least during the generation of those who watched him on reality TV).

Everyone and their fathers watched Brotherhood and Gangs of Lagos when they were out. Infact, I watched both late because of the hype. Those are two of the biggest movies released in this country in the last 2 years. Both are huge successes.

Tobi is an Actor now before anything else. Na BBN addicts dey look am as anything else.

BBN is bigger than Gangs of Lagos and Brotherhood. I haven't watched the latter. My 40 something year old mother knows Tobi because of BBN. Fans in other African countries know Tobi because of BBN.

Let's face it, I've always seen Nollywood to be a very diverse industry arranged as follows:

1. Netflix/ Amazon Prime Nollywood with producers like Kunle Afolayan and Actors like Tobi

2. Lagos Elite Nollywood with Actors like Timini and Actresses like Osas

3. Asabawood with actors like Zubby Michael and actresses like Destiny Etiko.

4. Yoruba movie industry

5. Kannywood.

The audience for the groups above are different. The awards and recognition for the groups are different. The target of the groups are different. The salaries of actors are also different.

An average business man at Ariaria does not know who tf Tobi is but may identify Zubby Michael. If Tobi's name rings a bell in that man's family, it's because his wife is a BBN fan. Destiny Etiko will be identified by 8 out of 10 Nigerian movie faithfuls in the East. I can't say same for Osas who has won the AMVCA.

Tobi's Nollywood fame is limited to the Audience of the 1st and 2nd category above. His BBN fame spans across geographical areas and countries in Africa.
