The Police have surrounded the Lagos house of the leader and founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, commonly referred to as T. B. Joshua, over death claim.

There had been a viral news on social media over alleged death of the prophet on late Saturday night.

However, this has been disputed by his friend, former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode.

“The story that is being peddled around by some fake news merchants that my dearest friend and brother, Prophet T.B. Joshua of SCOAN, is dead is FALSE!

“It is FAKE NEWS in its most hideous form. The Prophet is alive and well and he shall live long and prosper. Glory hallelujah!," he said.

Joshua is a Nigerian charismatic pastor, televangelist and philanthropist. He is the leader and founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations, a Christian megachurch that runs the Emmanuel TV television station from Lagos.

President Buhari today took to his twitter page to acknowledged the recent attacks on National Infrastructures across Nigeria by unknown gun men.

According to the President,

I receive daily security reports on the attacks on critical national infrastructure, and it is very clear that those behind them want this administration to fail. Whoever wants the destruction of the system will soon have the shock of their lives. We’ve given them enough time.

I received a briefing today from the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the series of attacks on their facilities nationwide. These attacks are totally unacceptable, and we will not allow those behind them to achieve their evil objectives.

I have assured INEC that we will make available to them everything they need to operate efficiently, so that no one will say we don’t want to go, or that we want a third term. There will be no excuse for failure. We will meet all of INEC’s demands.

In the area of security, we have changed the Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General, and we are demanding that they rise fully to the challenges confronting us. There must be zero tolerance for all those those bent on destroying our country by promoting crime and insurrection!

Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.

A trending video captured the moment a couple smashed through their balcony railings and fell 25ft to the pavement below while having an argument.

Olga Volkova and Yevgeny Karlagin, both 35, were struggling on the balcony of their second-floor home in St Petersburg, Russia, on Saturday morning, May 29.

In the heat of the argument, they smashed into the balcony railings which suddenly broke and caused the couple to fall onto the concrete below.

Thankfully, they survived but with suffered broken limbs and they are not in a critical condition.

Honorable Sele-oge Tom, a half-brother of Senator James Manager, who represents the Delta South Senatorial District in the Senate, was stabbed to death over a land dispute with a family member.

On Friday, May 28, the tragedy occurred in the Ogriagbene community of Bomadi local government area of Delta state.

During a fight with another family member over a small parcel of land at the community shoreline, the deceased, who is the town's youth leader and a former councilman, was allegedly stabbed in the chest region.

According to reports, the deceased's son slaughtered his father's killer in retribution, injuring his hand in the process.

"They fought over a family piece of land today (Friday), and after they were separated from the fight, the other one went home and came back with a dagger and stabbed Sele-oge on the rib,' a source told Vanguard.

"His son, seeing his father stabbed, also went home and came back with a machete and butchered the assailant. They were both rushed to the hospital at Bomadi, the local government headquarters, but Sele-oge gave up the ghost on the way and his remains had already been deposited in the morgue of the Bomadi General Hospital. While the other one is in a critical condition in a private hospital at Bomadi”, the source added.

Meanwhile, three houses belonging to the man who killed the former councilor have been razed down by angry youths in the family following the incident.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the report could not state categorically how many houses were burnt before police intervened.

He said the police had brought the situation under control and investigation has commenced.

A 34-year-old man name Okpegboro Avwerosuo, from Ughelli North LGA of Delta State has allegedly killed his roommate and sold his body part to a pastor in Sagbama area of Bayelsa state


According to an eyewitness, Avwerosuo allegedly invite the deceased to his house with a promise to buy him an Okada to start Okada business


According to the eyewitness, the deaceased had barely spent two weeks in Sagbama when Avwerosuo allegedly smash his head with mortal pestle at mid night that lead to his death.


After allegedly killing his friend, Avwerosuo butcher his body, preserve the vital organs and dumped the other parts in a separate sacks to dispose.


The source said while the suspect was trying to dispose the sacks, another neighbour suspect his movements so the neighbor confront am later in the afternoon about the whereabouts of his roommate.


“The suspect claimed the deceased had travel back to Delta State for urgent business but the neighbor wasn't satisfy with his response so the neighbour force his way into the room and see bloodstains everywhere. The neighbor dived him and raise an alarm that attract the local vigilante that came, arrested the suspect and handed him over to the police.


While he was being interrogated by the Vigilantes just before he was handed over to the police, the suspect confessed that he had sold the vital organs of the deceased to one pastor in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for alleged ritual purposes,”

After a year of gains and record highs, cryptocurrency markets are down today (19 May).

Leading cryptos Bitcoin and Ethereum have endured a turbulent time over the past week as share prices dropped by 28.66% and 32.13% respectively.

The market crash follows a decision by Tesla to no longer accept Bitcoin as payment for its vehicles, as announced by the car company’s CEO Elon Musk.

Musk’s shock post on Twitter had an immediate impact on Bitcoin’s value, which dropped $6 billion (£4.26b) and sent shockwaves through the crypto market.

And cryptos took another hit when China said it was going to block initial coin offerings, block exchanges and warned against speculative trading.

China’s crackdown on cryptos comes days after Musk’s shock announcement.

Musk’s decision signifies a sharp u-turn for Tesla who only started accepting Bitcoin as payment for its services in February 2021.

It came after the electric car company bought $1.5b (£1.06b) of Bitcoin shares, which in turn sent the market price of both the crypto and Tesla soaring.

Yet the impact on the environment of Bitcoin mining - a complicated process of minting new digital tokens - has seen Tesla withdraw this option for customers.

The billionaire entrepreneur said: “We are concerned about rapidly increasing use of fossil fuel for Bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel.”

Musk reaffirmed his belief that cryptocurrency has a “promising future” but that it “cannot come at great cost to the environment”, in his Twitter post.

Musk has been a long-time advocate of cryptocurrencies and the Tesla decision was felt across the market, with other digital tokens going down in price.

China government has placed a banned on financial institutions and payment companies from providing services related to cryptocurrency transactions, and warned investors against speculative crypto trading.

Under the ban, such institutions, including banks and online payments channels, must not offer clients any service involving cryptocurrency, such as registration, trading, clearing and settlement, three industry bodies said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

“Recently, crypto currency prices have skyrocketed and plummeted, and speculative trading of cryptocurrency has rebounded, seriously infringing on the safety of people’s property and disrupting the normal economic and financial order,” they said in the statement.

China has banned crypto exchanges and initial coin offerings but has not barred individuals from holding cryptocurrencies.

The institutions must not provide saving, trust or pledging services of cryptocurrency, nor issue financial product related to cryptocurrency, the statement also said.

The statement also highlighted the risks of cryptocurrency trading, saying vitural currencies “are not supported by real value”, their prices are easily manipulated, and trading contracts are not protected by Chinese law.

The three industry bodies are: the National Internet Finance Association of China, the China Banking Association and the Payment and Clearing Association of China.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has warned operators of Mobile Money and Banks Agents otherwise known as POS operators against illegal cash transactions.

The Commission’s Zonal Head in Sokoto CDS Bawa Usman Kaltungo gave the warning March 25, 2020 at a meeting with the Sokoto Chapter of Mobile Money and Banks Agents Association, (MMBA) Sokoto State Chapter in his office.

He express concern at the high rate of mobile money fraud in the zone, and called on the association to join hands in the fight against money laundering and electronic transaction fraud.

“The EFCC is ready to deal with individuals, groups and organizations that conspire with some bad eggs among us to perpetrate the act of illegal transactions and money laundering,” he said.

Kaltungo further advised POS operators in Sokoto to keep record of their transactions and identity of their customers, to curb illegal financial transaction and money laundering in Nigeria.

“Most POS don’t have identity of those withdrawing or sending money from them. That is contravention of the Money Laundering Act. We have to salvage this country but we can’t do that alone.” he said.

While encouraging members of the association to comply with all provisions of the Money Laundering Act, Kaltungo warned that the EFCC won’t hesitate to clamp down on violators.

However, the chairman of the Association Abubakar Atiku, while commending the sensitization meeting, assured that his members are law abiding and ready to comply with all extant laws, regulating monetary transactions in Nigeria.
