On the 10th of March, 2006 at the Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos, where the Headies first took place, ASA won the Next Rated category with a cash prize.
On the 17th of March, 2007, Overdose won the Next Rated.
On the 15th of March, 2008 at Planet One, Maryland, Lagos, the Next Rated winner was Wande Coal and this time the “brand new car tradition” debuted.
On May 16, 2009, at the Abuja International Conference Centre, the first time the Headies was taken outside Lagos, Omawumi won the Next Rated category and got a brand new car as well.

Mavins first lady, Tiwa Savage is set to release her sophomore studio album titled “RED”.
The singer is finalizing plans to release her second album in a few days. The singer recently concluded her year-long maternity leave, and has resumed her life as an artiste with numerous strategic public appearances, recording new music and shooting videos.
On Tuesday December 15, 2015, Savage will thrill fans will a new body of work titled “RED”.
Promotion for the album is already on, with her team which includes label head, Don Jazzy and hubby already kicking off subtle teaser campaigns on social media, playing around the colour red on their avatars.
A source told AOB, “The plan was to have released the album when she delivered her baby. But that didn’t happen because of the complications. Now, everyone is working to make sure December 15 happens.
She wants her album to be the album of the season.” The 16-track album is produced by Don Jazzy and Baby Fresh with collaborations from 2face Idibia, Wizkid, and others.
Tiwa Savage who was in South Africa recently to shoot music videos for songs off the album will be looking to claim her spot as Nigeria’s leading female singer with the new album.

I doubt the credibility of the ‘Headies’ Award since inception 10years ago,But notwithstanding, The headies award has help in discovering new and raw talents in our music industry.
And on this year ‘Next rated’ category, i see no reason why lil kesh should even make the Nominees list,Although he has paid his dues,Has enough singles and features to his credit,and coming from a dope music Label (YBNL).Yes,he deserves some recognitions.
But i ask,Is award all about The quantity of musical delivery?? what about the ‘Quantity’? Lil kesh rap style is too vulgar,corrupt and most times extremely meaningless!!
His Rap Lyrics lacks inspirational and motivational sense,Most of his Raps is centred only about ‘Olosho’, boobs,dicks,butts and other foul languages.
All he has been turning out since he joined the record label YBNL is not credible in terms of manners.
