The owner says he stayed open not for the money but "for our members mental and physical well-being". More than £31,000 has been donated to a Merseyside gym that was fined by police for staying open and breaking coronavirus restrictions.

Body Tech Fitness in Moreton, Wirral received a £1,000 penalty after it defied Tier 3 restrictions that came into force in the area on Wednesday.

Owner Nick Whitcombe had said on Instagram that he wouldn't close, posting: "We are not staying open for financial gain but more for our members mental and physical well-being.

"Gyms should be supported in fighting against COVID obesity, mental health and many other conditions and diseases."

On Wednesday, he posted a video showing five police officers in the gym - who he said had warned him to shut.

Merseyside Police confirmed officers went to the gym on Wednesday morning after a report that it was breaking the new rules.

U.S. import prices rose in September, with prices outside petroleum products posting strong gains, suggesting a weakening dollar was lifting imported inflation.

The Labor Department said on Thursday import prices increased 0.3% last month. Data for August was revised up to show import prices increasing 1.0% instead of 0.9% as previously reported.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast import prices, which exclude tariffs, rising 0.3% in September. In the 12 months through September, import prices fell 1.1% after decreasing 1.4% in August.

Petroleum prices fell 4.2% last month. Excluding petroleum, import prices increased 0.7%. That followed a 0.8% jump in August. Jimoh Isiaq lost his life to a stray bullet two days ago. In reaction to this, angry youths started burning tyres around Isale Ora part of the twin to continually create awareness and raise their voices against injustice and police brutality. The agitations became more intense when a mob moved to the Owode police station where they continued to throw stones. Reports confirm that the police refused to respond at first but later responded with gunshots that led to the death of two more people.

North Korea showcased previously unseen intercontinental ballistic missiles at an unprecedented predawn military parade on Saturday that showcased the country’s long-range missiles for the first time in two years.

Analysts said the missile, which was shown on a transporter vehicle with 11 axles, would be one of the largest road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) in the world if it becomes operational.

Also displayed were the Hwasong-15, which is the longest-range missile ever tested by North Korea, and what appeared to be a new submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).

Ahead of the parade, which was held to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of its ruling Workers’ Party, officials in South Korea and the United States said Kim Jong Un could use the event to unveil a new “strategic weapon” as promised earlier this year.
