Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's first post-independence leader, has died aged 95. Mugabe had been receiving treatment in a hospital in Singapore since April before his demise.

Late Mugabe was ousted in a military coup in 2017 after 37 years in power. His early years were praised for broadening access to health and education for the black majority, but his later years were marked by human rights abuses and corruption.

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to prevail on the nation’s anti-corruption agencies to clampdown on politicians he identified as 'Yahoo Yahoo,' most of whom are currently in the present administration.

Frank, while commending FBI and other international security agencies said the ‘Yahoo politicians’ in Nigeria are actually responsible for the breeding of internet fraudsters known as 'Yahoo Yahoo boys' in the country.

The Bayelsa-born activist cited a situation where a governor, minister or any other government appointee who was nowhere financially before they get into public office suddenly become stupendously affluent after their tenure in that office.

The political activist said untill the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the ICPC stop protecting ‘Yahoo politicians’, both in government and out of government, it will be difficult to discourage the prevalence of internet fraud being perpetrated by some young Nigerians.

Reacting to a long list of young internet fraudsters released by the FBI recently, Comrade Frank in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja said "corruption is gradually becoming a criteria to get appointment, especially under the current administration.

"The ‘Yahoo politicians’ are the role models of these ‘Yahoo Yahoo Boys.’ Those in government today are not immune. They have turned Nigeria to the capital of poverty in the world.

"The ‘Yahoo’ appointees and governors will throw elaborate parties and dinners once they assume public office because they see it as an opportunity to loot the treasury.

"When you look at the antecedent of most of the members of recently inaugurated federal cabinet, majority of them have been guests of either the EFCC or the ICPC in the past. If known criminals are accorded such privileges, then, what is the government telling the young ones?

"It is only in Nigeria that an suspect and an anti-corruption prosecutor, would later become members of the federal executive council.

"In a country where about 90% of citizens are living in abject poverty, the ‘Yahoo Yahoo politicians’ in the National Assembly have no qualms budgeting N5.5 billion to acquire choice SUVs for themselves. That most university graduates are roaming the streets jobless is a cause for concern.

"The Yahoo presidency fights corruption only on the pages of Newspapers, labels the opposition elements as thiefs while it openly and consciously protects the armed-robbers within the government.

"Even the institutions established to fight corruption have been politicised and heavily compromised. They dare not torch the ‘yahoo politicians’ in the good books of the ruling party," Frank said.

He, however, ured the FBI to help Nigeria in the fight against corruption by clamping down on the ‘Yahoo politicians’ who brazenly steal public funds and run to oversea countries like United State of America and other European countries to enjoy their booty.

He urged international security agencies like the FBI and INTERPOL to focus on Nigerian yahoo politicians and yahoo judges who award jaundiced judgements to the ‘yahoo presidency’ and the ‘yahoo politicians’ to the detriment of justice, democracy and the well-being of Nigerians.

Uganda may just be having an increased number of HIV/Aids and other sexually transmitted diseases related cases after a report revealed that the East African nation is running short in the availability of condoms. -

According to the report, although the country’s ministry of health is denying it, people cannot get condoms easily when they need it.

The scarcity results from the withdrawal of donor aid funding to the sector.

Uganda needs about 240 units of condoms in a year but have only 132 units available this year.

Like the overarching racism culture was not degrading enough, we now have to walk in the shadow of suspicion by folks who should know better and by dusty ass folks with a negative balance in their account acting like you trying to steal something.
Corporate America is notoriously unfriendly when it comes to the hardworking black immigrant. But our resilience and focus keep us rising above all that, rejecting the office of victim hood and taking it all in our stride. We are eagle eyed focused on the big picture and that for most of us is highest possible educational qualification and highest possible office with highest possible pay. Like water, we find our way around any and all obstacles and we make it. But just how much psychological and emotional bullying can a people take. What quality of persons are we at the end of it all. Rich, for sure! Cynical, maybe, healthy - physically and emotionally? With the high blood pressure, weight issues, kidney issues etc....remains to be seen.
When the Orange emperor made his shit hole nation comment, I had a Co-worker come apologize to me. I took that as passive aggression because no right thinking person would hold such words on any level of serious consideration. Bringing it up with me meant I was being given a friendly reminder, and from there on meting the “shitty”treatment confirmed the agenda.
While I am offloading my many observations of the rings of fire on these plantations into a book ( of course with the many ways to ford that drift), I say to my people
so sorry some of our greedy brothers had to put us all in such an embarrassing position. Hang in there, continue to be the best you have always been. We have been down this road before, this one too shall pass. We are Nigerian -Americans, forged in fire - winning is the name of our game. One love.

Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman Begs Nigerians To Pray For Him To Succeed In His New Role

The newly-appointed Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, has asked Nigerians to pray for him to succeed in his new role.

Mamman was announced as the new Power Minister when President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated his second term cabinet in Abuja on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

While speaking later during a reception organised in his honour by a committee of friends, the minister asked Nigerians to pray for him.

"What I need from Nigerians at this time is prayers. I have just been appointed Minister of Power, so I have nothing much to talk about or say than for Nigerians to pray for me to succeed," he said.

Mamman's assignment came as a surprise to some as the ministry was previously under the stewardship of former Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, who was reappointed and also sworn in for another stint in Buhari's cabinet on Wednesday.

Fashola was the Minister of Power, Works and Housing during Buhari's first term between 2015 and 2019. However, he returns only as the Minister of Works and Housing.

The Power Ministry holds a lot of political implications as the country has failed for decades to adequately supply electricity to its estimated population of 200 million people.

While the Buhari-led government has identified improving power supply as a key to improving economic growth, growth in the power industry has been sluggish with many parts of the country still deprived.

While delivering his remarks on Wednesday, Buhari urged the new ministers to work tirelessly for Nigerians to achieve a future where they can reach their full potential.
