The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Erediauwa, has requested that the Benin airport should be upgraded to an international status being one of the oldest airports in the country.

The Oba made this known when managing director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), George Uriesi, paid him a courtesy call in his palace.

Erediauwa also expressed appreciation to the aviation authorities for acceding to his request that planes should not fly directly over the palace even as he expressed surprise on the survival of a boy who stowed away on the under carriage of a plane recently.

According to a statement from FAAN, Uriesi had assured the public especially air travellers from Edo and surrounding states, that the operational facilities at the Benin airport would soon undergo major transformation.

The life of Nigerians living in Malaysia can't be legitimately illustrated assuming that i don't use the sentence JUNGLE OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF ANIMALS.

I arrived Malaysia making plans to meet a few Nigerians who i could have the capacity to spend few days with. The driver dropped me at a spot called China town where i needed to stroll from road to road, inquiring as to whether they know a Nigerian. Luckily for me, i ran into two blacks who asserted to be Cameroonians. Not many minutes later, i met a Nigerian who introduced himself as Vita.

As i inquired as to whether he was a Nigerian, he said "yes", and asked where i am from in Nigeria. The minute i said my state, i could see the hesitant reaction in his tune. Gone are those days when Nigerians were one. When you meet a Nigerian abroad and harbour him and call him your sibling since you are from the same nation, Nigerians have been so influenced with the issue of ethnic that they have disregarded that we live in one country.

I engineered murder plot – Night guard
Did a housewife hire an assassin to kill her rival? Or did the family night guard try to assassinate his master’s wife? These are the knotty questions the police in Ibadan, Oyo State capital are attempting to answer after a suspected hired assassin, Ikechukwu Christopher, was arrested.

The suspect was said to be on his way from Enugu to Ibadan to carry out the assassination when he ran into the police. A locally-made single barrel gun and a woman’s photograph found on him gave him away. He was taken into custody.

Ikechukwu named one Adenola Adeniyi, a former timber contractor, based in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, as his sponsor. The police went after Adeniyi who, in turn, named one Arowolo Lateef as the person who gave out the assassination job. Assassination fee was put at N80,000.

Judgment Day seems to have come for a pastor, Emmanuel Onu as he has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command for allegedly conniving with others to sell his girlfriend’s baby for N100,000.

Pastor Onu had told the mother of the baby that her baby died at Ajiwe Street, Aba in Abia State.

The Imo state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Katsina told Sunday Sun that the pastor who hails from Umunwada Onitcha in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State and who resided at Avutu Obowo impregnated his church member who was also his girlfriend, one Nkeiru Chukwuemeka.

Nkeiru was said to be in labour pains when Pastor Onu called another lady friend (Precious Adiele) who then introduced to them a hospital called Angel of Mercy Hospital at 19 Ajiwe Street Aba, Abia State.

An Iowa woman recently told her doctor that she bought a tapeworm on the Internet and ingested it in an attempt to lose weight. The doctor was apparently so stumped by the patient’s bad decision that he had to call the state health department for guidance.

The agency told the doctor to have his patient de-wormed by way of some special medication that kills the parasite. Dr. Patricia Quinlisk, medical director at the Iowa Department of Public Health, recounted the incident in an e-mail to public-health workers Thursday.

Arik Air has expressed shock over how a teenager at the Benin Airport beat aviation security checks at the city Airport to stowaway into the main wheel of its aircraft.

The airline said it was becoming increasingly concerned about incessant security lapses at the nation’s airports

It urged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria ( FAAN) to immediately address the situation .

ADO EKITI — THE Police have arrested a middle aged man, Musibau Mustapha, for killing his colleague during a hunting expedition.

Mustapha, 30, was said to have mistaken his fellow hunter, Sunday Ijasa, for an antelope and released the bullet which instantly claimed his life a couple of days ago at Igbara Odo Ekiti in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area of the state

According to the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mr Victor Babayemi, in Ado Ekiti, weekend, the suspect was arrested following an allegation that he killed the deceased while hunting at Igbara Odo Ekiti.

A 27-year old driver has been arrested and charged before Apapa Magistrate’s court in Lagos for allegedly having sex with his girlfriend, a 23-year old Lagos State Polytechnic student, Thelma Lawrence, and posting her unclad photo on the internet.

Henry Aiyenero allegedly committed the illicit act in his house at Ajegunle, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

Aiyenero who works at Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, LCDA, as driver was said to have humiliated his girlfriend that way because she allegedly denied him sex for a long period.

Nigeria’s Rivers state government has sent to their home states, some of the 113 beggars and lunatics removed from the streets of Port-Harcourt, the capital city. And the state has warned it will soon embark on another removal exercise. The Chairman of the committee,

Mr Mina Jamabo, said of the 113 beggars, destitute and lunatics removed from the streets,some had been taken to the state’s rehabilitation centres for treatment.

Jamabo said that non-indigenes had since been repatriated to their various states, while the indigenes would be treated by the government until they were fit to re-unite with their families.

Jamabo did not give the figure of the destitute sent to their home states. Mrs Stella Toby, Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation however unfurled government fresh plans to remove beggars and destitute from streets in the state.

A Senator earns N12,766,320 yearly, the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has said.

Legislators’ pay has been the subject of a big controversy, with some critics alleging that a senator earns as much as N29.8 million yearly.

This, said the RMAFC in a newspaper advertorial yesterday, is not correct.
In a statement signed by the Acting Secretary to the Commission, Usman I. Garndawa, the RMAFC said: “The attention of the RMAFC has been drawn to an avalanche of media reports concerning the current remuneration package for political, public and Judicial office holders in Nigeria. The said reports further quoted RMAFC as the source of their information. Accordingly, the Commission, therefore, considers it most appropriate and necessary to provide the actual details of present remuneration package for political, public and judicial office holders to avoid misinformation and misrepresentation of facts capable of misleading citizens and members of the international community.”

MAIDUGURI: Civilian JTF — At least five persons were killed, weekend, following a deadly clash between two rival vigilante youth groups seeking to curb the menace posed by the Boko Haram in Borno State.

BORNO—Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, leader of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has reportedly been shot and deposed by members of his own sect, Boko Haram.

A new leader, Abu Zamira Mohammed, who is the sect’s leader negotiating with the federal government has been appointed new leader by the group’s Shura Council. The group also said that its ceasefire declaration is working, pointing out that there has not been any suicide bombing since the declaration.

It noted its condemnation of the Yobe massacre where 40 students were killed, adding that some politicians now commit murder and ascribe it to Boko Haram

A farmer in the western Nigerian state of Ogun has abandoned his wife after she delivered triplets.

The incident happened in the small community of Afojupa village, in Obafemi/Owode local government area of the state.

Mrs.Bosede Akapo, 30, who already had two children, aged five and eight, before the arrival of the triplets on 24 July expressed surprise that her husband,Biodun, went into hiding after he got the information that she delivered triplets.

The babies were delivered in a private maternity home in the village and with Biodun vanishing, the monarch of the nearby town of Owode-Egba, Oba Kolawole Sowemimo, settled the bill.

An award-winning Nigerian music director, Aswad Ayinde, found guilty of fathering children with his daughters will spend the rest of his life in jail.

According to Mail Online, Ayinde, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, United States, was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Friday after being found guilty in the second of five expected trials in which he is accused of repeatedly molesting his six daughters, resulting in six children being fathered.

Mr. Ayinde was found guilty in his latest trial of having intercourse with a daughters when she was as young as eight-years-old. The second sentence adds to the 40 year sentence Mr Ayinde received in a 2011 trial for sexually assaulting a separate daughter.

Italian media reported today that Nigerian migrants were among several dozen people who drowned weekend off the coast of Libya, while attempting to cross into Italy. Thirty-one migrants, including nine women, drowned , according to survivors who managed to complete the journey.

A dinghy carrying 53 migrants capsized on Friday evening, and witnesses said 31 of those who had been thrown off it drowned in the accident. The twenty-two survivors, who come from Nigeria, Gambia, Benin and Senegal, said the dinghy had capsized after three days at sea. They were rescued by a passing merchant ship and taken to Lampedusa island, the reports said.

Nigeria Police Force has dismissed the police corporal, Amadi Idahosa, who was accused of killing Ibrahim Momodu, the final year student of Univerisity of Benin, Naija Center News (NCN) reports.

Amadin was dismissed to face prosecution at the law court for his action after an orderly room trial.

He was said to be an orderly to Carol Afegbai, the CSP who was the divisional Police Officer of Ogida Police Station. It was revealed by a police source that Corporal Amadin was responsible for the death of Ibrahim Momodu, contrary to the claim by Carol Afegbai that he was shot on the legs.

Ibrahim was shot on the 27th of May at about 11.pm on his way back home, buried hurriedly by the murderer at 3rd cemetery, and was later exhumed by the order of the court.

Are you recognized by those at helm of affairs? Not at all. Governments in Nigeria now are by-products of the military junta that destroyed the country and destroyed the dreams of the founding fathers of this country and the subsequent regimes have inherited the hostility of the military. The governments are hostile to history and many of them don’t want to know about the history, particularly the political history of the country. That is why in many places, the politicians who founded the country, particularly from our side of the country, that is, the Igbo side, are not given their due recognition. In places like the North or the West, the nationalists are being honoured. With a pointer to Anambra State in particular, it is either they are ignorant of the history or something else.

Alright, Barrister Emeka accused Sahara Reporters of blackmailing politicians. Since he stays in United State. After gathering information about the Politicians, he would call them to demand for an amount or he publish.

Again, he said in 2009 he made a deal with the then boss of EFCC Mrs. Waziri who was accused of fraud and Sahara who had details of the report refused to publish.
