Refinery update a misleading information By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has not paid his casual workers for the past 10 months, NAIJA CENTER NEWS has gathered. According to a source who preferred not to be named, the workers have not been paid due to lack of fund by the corporation. It could be recalled that the The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) on Monday decided to withdraw its men from protecting the pipeline nationwide. Yinka Oguntimehin, the spokesman for Gani Adams faction of the congress, said the decision was necessary as the corporation had yet to start paying for the work its men are doing. “When we were given the contract on March 15, it was agreed that they will release money for the OPC personnel for effective protection of the NNPC pipelines nationwide. “We lost one man last month because of the activities of the vandals here in Lagos, while some of our men were arrested in the course of protecting the pipelines. “We had told them to release some of our money before the new administration took over, but they kept promising us. “Enough is enough, three months have passed since our members started monitoring the pipeline, and we have fulfilled our part of the agreement. The NNPC had been struggling to pay its workers for months due to diversion of petroleum products. Though some quarters of the news said that it was because of the turn around maintenance that has been going on within the refinery in Warri, NAIJA CENTER NEWS gathered that there is no crude oil to refine at the moment and the crude oil sent to the refinery was diverted or landed in the wrong hand. He said "The turn around maintenance talk is in the mouth and not in the refinery. "Our salaries are supposed to be paid by the area deport office but can't pay as the refinery can't raise money from a refinery that has not been getting crude oil to refine due to the diversion. "We believe the order of the diversion was from Federal Government. but things are taking shape quickly now for the fear of the new President, Muhammadu Buhari since they heard that he will be visiting the refinery next month" Read details here: http://www.naijacenter.com/news/weve-not-been-paid-for-10-months-nnpc-casual-workers-cry-out/

By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News He is a gentleman, a former vice president who found his way to the top after his boss, Musa Yar'Adua passed away. The only sin he ever committed was that he came from the South South of Nigeria, the least expected region to rule the country; how did he find his way to be the vice president? His fantasy was made conceivable by a previous President, Olusegun Obasanjo who thought of him as one of the humbled men of honor he had ever seen, he talks just when and where it is important, he tunes in, he complies, and to Obasanjo, he was the ideal imprint to accomplish his ambition since Nigerians thought they were shrewd by pushing him out of his third term dream. Shockingly for the force alcoholic, the sudden happened. His arrangements fizzled again as the man he made Vice President, in the wake of getting to be president battled for his freedom. He got to be grown up, and as you know, a few folks hate to hear when their youngsters say "I am a grown-up" As a President, he directed the nation like no different presidents had done, he had his shortcomings, and he confesses to them openly. During his administration, Nigerians acknowledged they have rights, he urged everybody to talk, he never imprisoned any individual who offended him. Anyway much the same as Julius Caesar, his position was gone for by numerous individuals, especially from the individuals who considered the position as their inheritance. By what means can a Christian run over Muslims, by what method can a minority manage over a larger part? We will make this nation ungovernable for him. He was chased from left to right, side to side, head to toe. His former godfather took the lead to bring him down. Then propaganda stepped in, terrorism became a business, pastors became closer to God and practice prediction with him. He was enduring, he made the nation the biggest economy in Africa, returned rail to Nigeria. Built 12 universities in 5 years, built rice mill in both north and south, automobiles trusted him enough to venture into Nigeria. Paypal that accept Nigeria is a nation of tricks all of a sudden affirmed the operation in the nation. But the problem of insecurity increased, death were reported every day, destruction and maiming of Christians from the Presidency owners' quarters became on the rise, new media were born and new way of reporting came into existence. A man who had crucified the media for speculation in the past took the lead to levy accusations without evidence. He was accused of stealing billions of dollars, he was called clueless, and he was ridiculed and insulted before the international communities, westerners, African nations turned against him, even coming out publicly to send insult to the President of a great nation. He was calm, all he did was explain his position, he asked for patients as he had planted such a large number of seeds sitting tight for them to develop and begin proving to be fruitful. The Nigerians were disappointed and obliged magician to turn the things around. Nigeria is 54 years, the North governed for 38yrs or more, Obasanjo ruled for a long time and the remaining parts go to the active President, yet the transgression of the nation from independence was put on him, he was nailed on the cross, new activists were conceived and he was utilized as a talking practicum. He didn't have friends, those who laughed with him were those revealing his information to the media. To the world of parable, Goodluck Jonathan, GEJ as he is fondly called was caught from behind, and whirled violently like a toy boat caught in the whirlpool. Landing on his kneels, he urged himself to ignore the pain that gripped his groin, knowing that it was important not to show any signs of distress since he was already tagged clueless. They didn't stop, this time, he was hit simultaneously by as many as he could remember, one, his knees' another his stomach, a third, his head shot by a cut to size barrel, his legs shot with an arrow, and his faced received acid attack. His friends and workers were no protection at all. His body seemed to telescope into itself but all the parts didn't fit, and he was stunned by the knowledge that pain isn't just one thing - it is cunning and various, sharp here and sickening there, burning here and clawing there. He clutched himself as he hit the ground, his breath faded away, a terrible stillness pervaded him and then, at the onset of panic, his breath came back again. But his head was already shattered by a hand grenade. Engulfed by nausea, he pitched towards the grass, his mouth encountered gravel, and he spat frantically, afraid that some of his teeth had been knocked out, he saw the country through drifting gauze but held on until everything settled into place, no, hoping it would set into place. Finally after the Presidential election that took place on the 28 of March, he made his final decision. He tried to get up but his body mutinied against movement. He decided the hell with it. He would go to sleep right here, the hell with trying to convince Nigerians, screw everything, he didn't care anymore to fight what he thinks he believed in. As a gentleman he is known for, even though he knew the election was massively rigged by the opposition, despite the fact that he knew some of his party individuals were assaulted at the time of voting, despite the fact that he knew numerous kids from the age of 10 were enrolled to vote, despite the fact that he realized individuals at the IDM got voters card while those are the grieved free zones didn't, despite the fact that he understood he may win on the off chance that he chose to challenge the result of the race, decide to go home on the grounds that he had said no politician desire is justified regardless of the life of pure Nigerian For the murderers, they didn't stop there, despite everything it hurts them to hear individuals address him as legend for giving up without worrying the commonwealth or making a scene that may prompt roughness, then death of blameless Nigerians, they have chosen to utilize the same online networking to assault him, calling him a wide range of names, assaulting the individuals who are calling him a saint. The inquiry they neglected to ask themselves is this "what might have been the result if President Jonathan had won the election? Would Buhari had called Jonathan to praise him or yield to annihilation? In 2011, more than 800 Nigerians including the NYSC students were murdered by the Presidency owners because the opposition leader, Buhari raised an alarm that the election was rigged. It is no news that Buhari had gone to tribunal three times out of the four times he had challenged. He had never acknowledged defeat, rather his outrage created the demise of hundreds. They murdered him, those who he trusted, those he tried to tell by all necessary means that he was there for a change betrayed him, they stabbed him, they sent him to his untimely grave. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News A former deputy governor of Ekiti state, Prof. Modupe Adelabu has said that the state governor, Ayo Fayose is obsessed with Buhari. Speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS, Prof. Modupe said the governor and other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are afraid of Buhari because of his stand against corruption in the country. She said there is no amount of advise, statement you can make to change Fayose pathological obsession. She added. “It’s obvious Fayose is afraid of Buhari. This is not the first time there is an election in this country, but the fear you can see, is everywhere, the ruling party is afraid of Buhari presidency because he is particular about corruption. PDP do not want the change we are anticipating because they will loose illegal gains they have made over the years, if they are not there, they will not make the country dry anymore. “With the present structure in the country, we have lost Nigeria, our names, our value in fact everything that can make a democracy thick. Nigerians are no longer proud to be Nigerians, there were time in the world you want to be celebrated as a Nigerian. Before now wherever i go, i wear Ekiti T-shirt, but now i am ashamed to do it. “How can I be from a state where we have responsible people, a state where we have people of integrity, even the nation, Nigeria is proud of, we are not proud of it. What’s going on in Ekiti State now is sad, a lot of lies. I am not happy of what is going on in Ekiti State, i have decided to keep mute because of this. Asked why she has not been saying much on the happenings in Ekiti State, the former governor said she had adopted “sit and look” tactics as there is no need to engaging in an unhealthy talk over the radio or television and instituting lies. “We are waiting for any good thing that can yield any positive thing for the people of the state. We are moving forward, we are thinking of how to move Ekiti State out of this dangerous trend. Only few newspaper will listen to your views, so why don’t you just sit and plan instead of talking and engaging your energy on things that will not assist the state. Referring to the governor without mentioning his name, Prof. Modupe said “People make so much noise, they attract unnecessary attention to themselves and when you are making noise, others are working. People of Ekiti state are saying this man should settle down and work instead of engaging Fayemi, Buhari or Obasanjo, he should settle and work, his work will speak for him. On President Jonathan’s administration All i know is that we want a change. Anything but a change because we are fed up. Speculation on Buhari’s Health: “If Buhari was sick as speculated, will he be at the hospital and at Chatham’s house at the same time in London? 70 percent of people working go for check up. It is his private life, we go to the hospital every month to check our blood pressure and other things. Buhari visited 36 states non stop, are we going to say he was sick? Some said he went to London for health issues, maybe he delivered his lecture at Chatham house from hospital (laughed). So for me, i think the man is strong enough to rule this nation. Anybody could be sick, there was a time the wife of the President was sick, we were not celebrating her sickness. People who are talking now, shouting should have their head examined, they are more sick than people in the hospital. My President in waiting is healthy. Buhari’s age “How many people, nationally and internationally who are very old? What has age got to do with it? Even in Nigeria nation, people were old and they did well. Luckily we are not going to choose his cabinet for him. Even people who are not old in the country, are they delivering the dividend of democracy in the country? On Buhari’s past “I am not apologetic, democracy is different from autocracy. He took over as a military leader in the past, this is democracy, he cannot do anything without people watching him, without the national assembly. He cannot wake up over night and make a law, we are no longer ruling by degree. I have said it before, the past is gone, let us talk about the present and the future. A military ruler is different from a democratic ruler. Military is no more in vogue in Africa. On whether Prof. Osinbajo is stepping down after election, the former deputy governor said ” Do you know Prof. Osinbajo, have you read his pedigree? Do you think it is possible? Everyday, they bring in new thing to discouraging people from voting Buhari. Any person can read between the lines, anyone with objective mind will know all these are lies. Why are they anticipating the result of the election? why are they afraid? Prof. Modupe also said that she is confident that Buhari will win the election if it’s free and fair election. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News The executive governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has said that a former governor of the state and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Kayode Fayemi can play an alleged audio recording on another plant. The governor was responding to a statement released by Fayemi that some soldiers are willing to testify in support of the leaked audio record, which exposed how some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party connived with the military to rig the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti. Fayemi disclosed this while responding to questions on a live programme "APC Change Hour" on Akure, Ondo State-based Adaba 88.9fm. He said “We are taking every step to ensure this does not go unpunished. There are many soldiers willing to testify. “There are many Captain Sagir Kolis who are willing to give evidence in the court of law. I am just appealing to all Nigerians to be patient as events unfold”. While responding through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, Governor Fayose said he doesn't have time to waste on the issue of purported audio recording, adding that he is more concerned on developing Ekiti as he promised. He said " We don't have time for that. We are concerned with developing Ekiti State and to deliver our electoral pormises. Audio clip issue is a distraction which we understand. "To the press, is worth amplifying. To Ekiti people, it is meaningless because they elected their governor. "As i had said earlier, let them go to court and prove genuineness of their claim. The MTN call logs between Justice Ayo Salami and APC chieftains to buy judgement for Fayemi and Aregbesola could not be relying on by the court. NAIJA CENTER, let Fayemi leave this planet and go to another planet to play his clip, we are not moved." Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the audio clip released by the All Progressives Congress (APC), through its media organ, SaharaReporters as fake, saying; he never held any meeting with anyone to rig the June 21, 2014 election, suggesting that his voice and those of others could have been faked using technology like Natural Voices. He said the audio clip was APC's new calculated attempt to discredit the election results, having failed woefully both at the poll and the tribunal. Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi said in a statement issued on Friday in response to the questions by NAIJA CENTER NEWS, that the APC would have used the audio clip as evidence at the tribunal if it was genuine. He said; "Nigerians should be reminded of how the APC people lied in 2007 that they recorded how the governorship election was rigged even in the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, but the party could not produce a single photo evidence at the tribunal because their plans to do what is know as Morphing and Syncing was exposed. "Nigerians should also be reminded of the existence of a technology called speech software, which is good at reproducing the sounds, inflections and intonations of a human voice. "There are softwares that can re-create voices and even bring the voices of long-dead notable persons back to life. There are softwares that can turn printed text into synthesized speech, making it possible for anyone to use recordings of a person's voice to utter new things that the person never said. One of such softwares is called 'Natural Voices.' "The APC that we all know is a party of crooks, who are capable of doing anything, no matter how criminal to achieve their aim. "They tried all tricks to manipulate the election and failed. Even after wining the election, they tried to prevent Fayose from assuming office but failed. "Now it is a fake audio clip, which is obviously targeted at the next week presidential election. "Another question that should be asked by discerning minds is; if indeed such a meeting took place, could any of those purported to be present at the meeting have recorded the conversation and leaked it to the APC? Or was the supposed secret meeting held in the public such that it was possible for the conversations to be recorded? "This fake audio was obviously manipulated with the use of technology and it is known to discerning minds that motion pictures can even be manipulated using what is called Morphing and Syncing. Nigerians, especially the people of Ekiti who overwhelmingly voted Fayose as their governor should therefore ignore this new fabricated lie coming from the APC." By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News The governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has said that the people of the state enjoyed his governorship because they voted for a young governor. Amaechi disclosed this while addressing the crowd at the people during All Progressives Congress rally in Kalabari for the governorship candidate, Hon. Dakuku Peterside which was closely monitored by NAIJA CENTER NEWS He urged them to vote for another young mind in Rivers State, Dakuku Peterside who will take the state to another level just as he did. Rotimi Amaechi who is also the APC campaign director asked the people of Kalabari not to accept President Goodluck Jonathan as their brother since he chose to take everything away from them. The govenror said Jonathan refused to do anything for the Rivers people, including repairing a single road. He said ” When i ask Jonathan if i should repair a Federal road, he refused, in the presence of your people, he said he will do it. Did he do it? Let me tell you the problem you will have this raining season, there will be no road to drive home, neither will there be road to drive out, your economy will continue to suffer because of one bad President. Soku belong to Kalabari kingdom, Kalabari people are big enough to form a nation. If today you are to form a nation, where is your oil wealth? I promised Jonathan one thing, for any local government that i will campaign, i will show him one thing i have done there. What has he done for the Rivers people?” The governor continued “Tell those who asked you to vote for him (President Jonathan) because he is your brother, that he is not your brother, he is the enemy of the Rivers people. He never knew this day will come, he has always thought that all election can be done by writing.. No more carry go, carry go has been buried.” “Another vote for President Goodluck Jonathan will be badluck to us. Our economy will suffer.” He added Amaechi also admitted that the problem of insecurity is not only the problem of the Federal Government but also that of the state, adding that the Federal government has a greater role to play and the FG has done nothing to employ a single youth in Rivers State ” What has the Federal Government done to employ all of you? If the N30b Naira they stole at the Federal Level get to you, will you be suffering? Federal government refused to give us light, a vote for Buhari will change all that.” He said Amaechi advised the crowed to learn to vote corrupt politicians out. He added that the only party they should vote for on February 14 and 28 should be APC. The governor who may have forgotten that he is presently campaigning for a 73 years old candidate on the platform of APC, reminded the people that he became the governor at a very young age. He asked them if they enjoyed his governorship because he is young and the crowed shouted YES! “I thank God for making me a governor at a very young age, i am sure you people enjoy my governorship because i am young. When i became governor, when i compete, they said i was too young. You were used to a governor that sit at the back of the car, wave when they are coming and chase you when they come now, but now you have a young governor that talk with you, drink with you even eat in a Buka (local restaurant) that is because i am a young blood. If you vote for another young blood, what happened, you will repeat the same thing.” Amaechi is the Campaign director of the All Progressives Congress flagbear, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari who many Nigerians have refused due to his old age. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News. An Abuja based Nigerian lawyer, Barrister Friday Ojealaro has sued the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (GMB) over his refusal to declare his certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the February 14 Presidential general election. In a suit with no. FHC/ABJ/CS/03/2015, made available to NAIJA CENTER NEWS, Ojealaro pray the court to disqualify Buhari from contesting in the forthcoming election if he refused to show his certificate. Others defendants in the case are All Progressives Congress, and INEC. Barr. Ojealaro who is also the National Coordinator of a political group, Jonathan Shall Lead Again, pray the court to order Buhari to clarify his academic qualifications and eligibility. According to the suit, In the event, Buhari failed to satisfactorily present statutorily prescribed educational qualifications to INEC, the APC candidate, by the order of The Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja, be disqualified from contesting the 2015 Presidential election. The suit also state that if Buhari is disqualified from the race, the court should stop the APC from fielding a replacement. Buhari had been lambasted by the PDP and many Nigerians to declare his certificate for weeks. The General had said his certificates were with the Miliatary Board, which was denied by the military. APC later released a statement, saying Ibrahim Babangida carted its candidate's credentials away during the coup in 1980s. Buhari had addressed journalists quoting his examination number, adding that the PDP were using the certificate saga to distract attention, knowing fully well that he has his qualifications, yet without declaring it to the INEC. A multi-award winner, and a UN peace ambassador, Hajia Habiba Abubabar has said she is tired of the Nigeria biggest political party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She made this statement while responding to questions from her followers who requested to know the political party and the presidential candidate she intend to support in 2015. Habiba said she was tired of the PDP and its members, adding that Nigerians had given PDP enough time to perform in the country but chose otherwise. The Chairperson, Elderly and the Poor who is presently on vacation in the UK to spend Christmas with her children, expressed her disappointment towards the government and current administration said " To those sending me mails asking me who I like more between Goodluck and Buhari, is not about who I like is about who will look after the elderly, the poor, the struggling working families and those young boys and girls unemployed simple as that. Who will tackle corruption for once in our country. Am simply tired of PDP and it's people. Nigerians have given PDP enough time to do good to the Country but it appears that is just not working. They can't tackle corruption, they can't tackle Boko Haram what can they do? Nigerians love enjoyment but apparently is slowly being taken away from us. Our youth are not happy at all. They struggle so hard to make ends meet while some are at a corner looting what belongs to all of us. I don't care who rules Christian or Muslim all I need is an able leader." NAIJA CENTER NEWS could recall that Habiba wrote an open letter to the President, Goodluck Jonathan, copying the senate President, David Mark and the speaker of the House of Assembly, Aminu Tambuwal, requesting the government to make free, medical services for the elderly, the poor and children in the country which was completely ignored. NAIJA CENTER NEWS reported the UN ambassador assertion after she was disappointment by President Jonathan's behaviour during the time Nigeria was mourning the Nyanya bomb victims and the missing more than 200 Chibok girls. My intention is not to support anyone. The one that said he helped with money, such is laughable as what's in the north does not require money. Atiku has influence, you don't need to be in government to make a change. He has given equipment, money, would that stop the fight? I am not in support of Jonathan, i am in support of Nigerians, the innocent ones who died and the families suffering from it. I know of someone who lost three step brothers, an uncle and aunt to the last bomb in Kano. What the north needs is intervention and not money. Right now, both APC and PDP were supposed to come together and not using the situation to vie for positions. These people can hear who is behind Boko Haram in a day but chose not to and want to be the President before doing what's right. I asked the same question, would you want the government to intervene in your area if your community is in chaos and you have the power to stop it, knowing fully well that your families are there? Again, things will be better if we could just remove hatred and sentiment. Jonathan has contributed immensely to the problem, i didn't spare him. |
By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News Tell us what's happening in your area here: http://www.naijacenter.com/submit-story/ The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the state have a mission to destroying his administration by all necessary means. He disclosed this while answering questions from NAIJA CENTER NEWS correspondent through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi on Friday. Mr. Adelusi said Governor Fayose has done everything to unite the APC lawmakers to work with him, contrary to their cry, but they refused. He also disclosed that the governor held meeting with the lawmakers five times to the point that he almost knelt down, appealing to them to work and move the state forward. “I can tell you categorically that Ayo Fayose held meetings, tight hand with the APC lawmakers even after the inauguration five times. I was privy to those meetings and the governor almost went on prostrating, begging them. All they ask the governor to do for them, he did it. Like the allowances and subvention and the governor release everything to them just to make sure that they agree with his administration. Each time they have agreed with the governor, on going back, they will ask their leaders and tell them the outcome of the meeting, and their leaders will tell them not to cooperation with the administration. When another meeting is called, you will find them giving another reasons different from what they had agreed on. It’s their leaders which are residing outside Ekiti State that have been controlling the APC lawmakers to frustrate the administration. As far as Ekiti State is concerned, his people, we are moving forward, The people of Ekiti are fully behind Fayose and, i can tell you, things are going on fine. Nobody drove the APC lawmakers away, they went away on their own He disclosed that nobody is chasing the lawmakers contrary to their accusations that the governor is using the police to intimidate them He said” there is nothing like crackdown on the APC lawmakers, they are the one that have tried to bring down a PDP government led by Ayo Fayose. After the inauguration, the lawmakers got directives from their leadership that they should not cooperate with Governor Fayose. You know the governor won Fayemi, they resorted at using the lawmakers as a weapon to fight back at Ayo Fayose and the PDP since they are more than the PDP lawmakers in the house. The advise giving to them by their leadership is to go back to the house and frustrate the administration of Fayose and that any bill, anything brought to the house should not be well attended to and they started sitting and carried out that order. The list of commissioner and council caretaker nominees that were sent to them were rejected” On the reason given by the Speaker of the APC lawmakers, Dr. Omirin that the nominees were not attended to because their CVs were not available and the issue was not on order paper, Adelusi said ” What they are telling you is a total lie, The former speaker, Omirin had a meeting with Governor Fayose. It was the speaker, Omirin who asked Governor Fayose to send the list of nominees and their CVs to the house. The list was sent four days before the sitting, it was sent on Friday and the sitting was to be Monday” It was also the speaker who told the nominees to appear before them for screening. On the day the sitting was to hold, the APC lawmakers got an order from their leaders that they should not screen the commissioner nominees, that they should remove the discussion from the agenda of the house on that day, which they complied with, so it is the plan of the APC that Fayose administration should be brought down.” Responding to the allegation that Governor Fayose tampered with the PDP delegates list for the National Assembly Primaries, the CPS said that was not true. He added that the governor used the list that was agreed on by everyone. He said ” I’ll tell you that it is a total false, Governor has not tampered with the list of delegates. The list of delegates is the one that was agreed to by the party leadership. So whoever may have told you that is only trying to divert attention.” NAIJA CENTER NEWS could recall that Governor Fayose on October 16, made promise to the people of Ekiti State that he was ready to work with both the APC and PDP lawmakers to move Ekiti forward. Since the governor assumed office, the state PDP and APC have been marred with different accusations. Why speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS on the statement made by a PDP delegate that Fayose madness and reckless will put the party at a disadvantage for another four years, the CPS said ” There is nothing like that, if you go round the state and ask the people, you will see that what they are telling you is blatant lie, Ekiti PDP is more united, they were united in winning the governorship election, they are more united to win the next governorship election and i can tell you that APC will not even come close. On the suspension of the former speaker of the House, Dr. Omirin, the CPS disclosed to NAIJA CENTER NEWS that three lawmakers who joined the seven PDP members were APCs. He also disclosed that the lawmakers are presently waiting for the right time to dump APC for the PDP, and for now, they have decided to remain anonymous since they have not declared publicly. He also said that since Omirin has taken the case to court, the video recorded during the day the speaker was impeached is available, adding that it will be shown in court so as to put an end to the believe that it was ten members who impeached the speaker. Mr. Idowu Adelusi explained that they had 10 lawmakers on the said date instead of 9 to impeach the speaker, adding that the 3 APC lawmakers always join the PDP lawmakers whenever they seat. On the closure of the speaker filling station, he said the filling station was closed to public institution, a school which according to him, is against the law. He said residents of the area had written petitions to the appropriate quarter during Governor Fayemi’s administration but was put aside since they were on the same party. “The governor did not close down any filling station, it was the ministry of Urban and Physical Planning. There is a law that forbid establishment of filling station where public institutions are, there is another law that stop the establishment of filling station near residential areas. Unfortunately, the filling station was cited close to public institution and residential area. The atrocity was committed during the time of Fayemi. The filing station did not meet the approval of the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning but because the owner was APC and they were controlling the government at that time, the governor approved it since the governor’s order override the ministry recommendation. Before Fayose, there were many petitions from the schools and residents from the area which were sent to the ministry. When Fayose came in, the people reminded the governor that the former governor refused to attend to their plea and pleaded that he (Fayose) to look into it. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News The Rivers State Police Command has arrested 9 people including three women on Thursday at a certain hotel with registration materials, Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) machine in their possession. The possible election riggers were arrested in Elele. The arrest has attracted a lot of worries and accusations between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. A member of the APC in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Mr. Chidi Wihioka said that the PDP were completely involved in the entire scene. But contrary to the accusation, the Special adviser to the State Chairman, Jerry Needam described as false the misleading, linking the members to the incident. Mr. Needam said that the allegation against his party and what he referred to as “purported illegal restration was orchestrated by Chidi Wihioka and the APC to portray the party in a bad light, knowing that their campaign deceits and lies have been exposed and the people have vowed to reject them in the coming elections. PDP also challenged Mr. Wihioka to give account for billions of Naira he mismanaged when he served as Chairman of the Rivers State Road Rehabiliation Committee before making false accusation against the party. The party called on the police to make sure the matter is thoroughly investigated. The State Police Command, Ahmad K. Muhammad who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS on the issue said that a hotel was raided last night by the police after receiving a tip off that some boys were registering people illegally at the hotel. He confirmed that three among the arrested people were women, adding that preliminary investigation revealed they were yahoo yahoo boys. When asked by our correspondent if yahoo yahoo boys use INEC machine and materials, Muhammad said “Like i said, we are still on investigation, you can call INEC to ask if their machine is missing” He confirmed that INEC machine was found in their possession but added that he cannot link them to politics yet. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News I have taken over hours of my time today to fight one of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubabar on Twitter. For the past weeks, I have been asking him a simple question concerning the role he has played to stop the menace that has befallen my brothers and sisters in the Northern part of Nigeria, but completely ignore my questions even though he responded to his other numerous followers. I realized he may have been avoiding the question because he didn’t have anything to say about it, or rather, he disregarded my question on the ground that it was completely irrelevant to his presidential campaign. In other parts of the world, citizens ask questions from whoever show interest in a bigger office, they ask what they have done in the past that warrant their interest in certain offices, they put up questions and invite them for public debates, and since the advent of social media, it has facilitated the curiosity of citizens to ask such questions from their leaders even more. I know after reading this, one would say NAIJA CENTER NEWS is a network engineered by President Goodluck Jonathan to fight his enemies, we Nigerians always have something to say particularly when the point hold us on the balls.. Atku, since he began campaigning on twitter has focused his vitality on occupation creation, he ceaselessly remind his supporters how he has multi-million naira organization that is without further ado making employments for Nigeria, asking for their order to accomplish additionally, forgetting that only those alive can get employment. But today, Friday, I couldn’t hold it anymore, I mean his intentional ignore to my question, I suspected he must have viewed my profile and considered me as one of the Jonathanians, a nickname given to President Goodluck Jonathan’s followers. He responded to his follower who seems to have the same idea as mine. The handle, ANTI APC responded to Atiku many tweets asking him if that was all he did as a former head of state,The former head of state responded “As VP, I was head of the Economic Council. We left the economy much stronger than we met it. Let me lead us down memory lane 1/. The banking and telecommunications revolutions have created new jobs! Technology is one of Nigeria’s emerging success stories” This to me is appalling judging from a man who is doing everything to rule Nigeria and can’t actually tell the nation the concrete thing he has done for the ordinary people. So my attack followed as I wanted him to answer my question today, instead of his response, his followers defended him. Their responses opened my eyes to the actual problem, probably what Atiku is also feeling. Three days ago, Atiku attacked Federal government on the way it’s handling the issue of the insurgency. He said “First of all, I must confess that I am extremely frustrated with the Federal Government because this insurgency has lasted far too long,” he said. “It is more than five years now. Nigeria has got all that it takes to eradicate it within a couple of months but it has been allowed to set up for too long. I don’t believe that there is a rare capacity on the part of the Federal Government to tackle the insurgency in the Northeast.” He advised Nigerians to pressure the government to take the right step in putting an end to the killings “Nigerians should press on government to take drastic measures to really bring the insurgency to an end,” he said. Meanwhile, Atiku who is not in the North and reside in Abuja with dozens of securities, shamelessly told the people not to run but fight for their lives. “People must stand resolutely in the face of the attacks and not abandon their towns, women and children,” he said. None did it occur to him that a house owner cannot sleep if a snake is on the roof, at least for the sake of his children. Atiku has continuously display a sign of desperation, trying to work on the Nigerians psyche, applying divide and rule method to achieve his Presidential aims. Some of the followers who were defending him said the Federal government did not invite him to help, others said it is the President’s fight as he is the President of the nation. I realized that it was all about Jonathan. IT is like a stage set to find out talents. It is like a war set up to see how he could handle it since he has refused to hearken to the voice and warning to step down. It would interest you to know that Atiku was one of the northern elders who was quoted by a CNN correspondent in 2010 while interviewing President on his reelection bid. Isha Sesay told Jonathan that Northern elders, including Atiku were angry over his declaration to run. She asked Jonathan if he was ready to face violence if he contested. http://www.naijacenter.com/editorital/isha-sesay-cnn-correspondent-working-northerners/ With the huge followers of Atiku and Buhari in the North, bringing an end to the senseless killing would have been very easy but they decided to work on the scenario, taking the advantage to ridicule the country and projecting their dreams. Atiku, instead of joining hands with the federal government to fight the common enemy, uses press to instigate Nigerians against the FG on a daily basis. He has done nothing to stop it unless the donation of hilux van and some few other things to the fighters in the North. With Atiku’s influence, he could figure out who the sponsors of Boko Harams are in a day, he could sit with the elders and have a chat to bring an end to the killing of the innocent people of the nation, but no, it is an opportunity for him to get his dream office. For those who said Atiku was not invited by the President disappointed me with the statement because no one would fold hands and watch their people dying. If you live in Lagos and violence is in your area and you have the power to put an end, I am sure you won’t wait for invitation knowing your families, friends and well-wishers live in that area. Do not forget easily that Stephen Davis is not a northerner or a Nigerian, he swept in for the sake of the children who were kidnapped in Chibok, he placed his life on the line trying to mediate for the release of the innocent kids, he stayed for months with the terrorists and came out alive. Meanwhile, our bigwig is campaigning to rule the same zone that he has refused to assist. He is campaigning to preside over those he’s gambling with their lives. Is Jonathan to be blamed? Yes, he is to be blamed too. But the problem of terrorism is the problem of the nation and not you, not me and not Jonathan. When America was bombed on September 11, both Republican and Democrat came together to fight the common enemy. It took America 10 years to kill just Osama Bin Laden. Nigerians are completely senseless and they have been bought over by sentiment, religion and region, they have forgotten is not about PDP or APC but about us. They have continued to support those who have placed us In the mess we are today, those who had ruled us many years before now. They have refused to see a black sheep for what it is because everyone hates Jonathan, a minority President who came from nowhere to rule more than 180m Nigerians. I read a complaint by one of those who observed the declaration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, he was so disappointed at the responses he received when he asked them why they were supporting Buhari. Many responded that it was time for power to come back to the North, some said, how can Christians be ruling Muslims, some said, it is insulting that someone from Bayelsa to rule the majority of the Muslims. It dawn on him that the support was not based on merit but on sentiment. Atiku cannot rule Nigeria, he is too carried away and forgot the primary things he should concentrate on, he is a man who can do anything to get to the highest office in Nigeria. He is a voice In the north even Buhari is afraid of his forces, yet he has refused to use God given influence to save Nigerians. The day Nigerians come to their senses to challenge t hose who ought to be challenged, the country will come back to its rightful position. The day Nigerians would know that it is not about a potliical party but about the masses, or realized that government, including those that have ruled us in the past are all contributing factors to the problems we are facing, we would be able to come together like the patriotic Burkina Fasos who knew it was time to stand for what they believed in. http://www.naijacenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Former-Vice-President-Alhaji-Atiku-Abubakar.jpg Read more: http://www.naijacenter.com/editorital/naija-center-challenges-atiku-tell-nigerians-role-played-halt-boko-haram/#ixzz3LBx9bGjO Under Creative Commons License: Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike Follow us: @naijacenter on Twitter | naijacenter on Facebook |
The Nigerian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, S. U Ahmed has lambasted the Sri Lankan government over the continuous ill treatment its government is melting on Nigerians on a daily basis. S.U. Ahmed said the government is stigmatizing and labelling Nigerians over the Ebola virus, and also generalizing all Nigerians as criminals. Sri Lanka government over the weeks had suspended visa on arrival for Liberia, Guinea, Nigeria and Sierra Leone over the Ebola virus but made it clear that any visitor who come into the country during this period would go through the normal medical test before entering. A family of seven including a little baby who came to Sri Lanka to attend a wedding ceremony of their brother were held at the airport for about 18 hours. They were completely isolated from others without even allowing them to use the washroom in the realization that they were Nigerians. According to the Nigerian ambassador who spoke with a Sri Lankan newspaper correspondent, expressed his disappointment over the way and manner Nigerians were treated. He said the family that was quarantined without being screened at the Bandaranaike International Airport went through all kinds of medical test as laid down by the Sri Lanka government before they were stamped visa in Nigeria but were still detained and deported at the airport after 18 hours. “They were isolated from the rest at the airport, is it due to their colour, race or ebola? he inquired. “Why not quarantine all the passengers in that plane? Did they all not use the same toilet? But the other passenger were cleared while this wedding party was detained and deported. “Even though there is an ebola scare in the Africa region, no country, not the US or the UK, has thus far deported even one Nigerian citizen. Only Sri Lanka has “I have asked for an explanation from the Ministry of External Affair about the detention and deportation of the Nigerians who came for the wedding and there is no response till today. What is left for me is to assume matters. This is the level of diplomacy being practiced and it’s very unpleasant” He lamented. The ambassador also communicated the President’s disappointment on the way the Sri Lanka government is treating Nigerians. He said “President Jonathan is not happy about Nigerians being profiled and stigmatized in this manner “Certainly no one will feel happy if your people are not treated well. We are not offended but we want Sri Lanka to be cautious and humane.” S. U Ahmed complained that he had contacted Ministry of External Affair (MEA) through a letter requesting information on Nigerians who are presently in Sri Lankan prison but till date, he has not even received a letter of acknowledgement. A witness who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS over the incident said that the embassy had to call on some Nigerians who they could reach to attend the wedding of the Nigerian whom his family were not allowed to enter Sri Lanka. Another Nigerian who is a student had earlier disclosed to NAIJA CENTER NEWS that he was embarassed by the behaviour of some Sri Lankans when he visited a certain hospital in Colombo. The moment they realized he was a Nigerian, they kept screaming ebola! ebola! while everyone moving far away from him as he walked. Sri Lanka government had few months back reported in one of the leading newspaper that the government were on a clampdown on Nigerians. The government acquired a new machine to check the validity of passport and visa and used a Nigerian passport seized by the immigration for advert without informing the original owner who was at the time, in the deportation camp, nor was any Nigerian representative consulted. The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has changed the global ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to Ebola Ice Bucket Challenge. A lot of Nigerian celebrities had over the days, contributed immensely through the Ice Bucket Challenge to ALS in the United State. It could be recalled that a Nollywood actor and critic, Charles Novia, attacked Psquare, Genevieve Nnaji, Don Jazzy and a host of others for fighting to be second class celebrities. He also lashed at them for not donating to Ebola instead of putting money on ALS, a disease affecting mostly the westerners who had rejected Nigeria government offer to try the Ebola Experimental Drug. But today, the PDP chieftain has taken it upon himself challenging the one of the richest man in Africa, Alhaji Alinco Dangote and others to either accept his challenge or donate to the Federal Ministry of Health for a fight against the dreaded Ebola virus. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News. Like father like son as two sons belonging to the Commissioner of Police of the Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Joseph Mbu have been rusticated from Ukraine University, NAIJA CENTER NEWS has learnt. The two boys got admission into National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsia 9 years ago to study medicine, a six years program, and had continuously collected money from their father without graduation. A source who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS disclosed that Patrick is known for his stubbornness and regular assault on people, while his brother popularly known as DJ goes from club to club without attending classes. Their problem started last year when the Dean invited the duo to his office for questioning, they both lied that they were planning to change their school and requested for documents for the transfer The source said ‘’ The Dean fixed two days after for them to come back for their documents, unknown to them that he called the school they said they were transferring to and the alleged new school denied having any communication with the duo. ‘’When they came back on the agreed date, the Dean of their school requested them to sit and wait. After few minutes of waiting, sensing trouble, Patrick jack up the dean and almost beat him up’’ NAIJA CENTER NEWS gathered that the embarrassed police commissioner who claimed to represent discipline but could not inculcate same into his two sons, did everything every fathers could do to put them back to the university by promising to pay for things destroyed in the Dean’s office. He also realized that the money he had been spending had been in vain and decided to send one of them to a school in China while the other one still claim DJ from one club to another. Joseph Mbu who was the former commissioner of police in Rivers State was transferred to Abuja based on similar issue, regular fallout between him and the Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi. The Rivers State government complained of his nuisance and wrote a petition requesting the Inspector General of Police to transfer him to the hot zone in the North East where the dreaded Boko Haram is claiming lives and properties. Says Governor's wife was almost harassed on the night before the election Security men arrested two of my brothers By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News Nigerians may forget the election that took place in Ekiti State on the 21 of June but not those who witnessed and felt short changed by INEC and Federal Government. Though the executive governor of Ekiti State has openly conceded to defeat, he added a clause ''If it is the will of the people'' to express his readiness to contest the result if discovered that the election was massively rigged as presently speculated. The Ekiti Executive Council has accused The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of rigging the election through the ballot paper. The State Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS (NCN), said that the election was neither free nor fair as members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, were ‘’intimidated and arrested’’ for nothing before and during the election. The Deputy Governor also revealed that the wife of the state governor was almost harassed on her way home the night before the election. The DG said ''Look, that election as far as i am concerned, wasn't fair because two days before the election, most of our governors that were expected to come for our rally were not allowed to come in, they were intimidated, one of them was almost shot, that was enough to intimidate our people. On the day of the election, a lot of people were arrested even my own two brothers by security men, In all the polling boot, one PDP man would come out and point at APC member and they will arrest them. ‘’To tell you the truth, the governor did that so that there won’t be riot, so there won’t be problem and so that our people won’t be shot because our state was highly militarized. Moreover, what the governor said was that if indeed this is the vote of the people, he conceded defeat. And we know that somehow, it wasn’t the vote of the people, the governor can say yes but we have a party. The election was on a platform of a party. ‘’The wife of the governor was almost harassed on their way home the night before the election, so there was a lot of problem, in almost every poling boot, APC members and leaders were arrested and were kept there until after the election. We also had problem later with the ballot paper which I am not ready to say much about now. So on the surface, it looked free and fair, but we were intimidated, our party members were arrested, there was a lot of inducement. When there was gun shot in one of the poling boot, people were being arrested. Responding to a question concerning the arrest of a member of the APC who was said to have been sharing money to voters, she said ‘’It is a lie, I wasn't there when they were distributing money anyways, but it was PDP members that were distributing money. My two brothers were arrested and they freed them after the election and they couldn’t vote. As soon as they started arresting people, others ran away. She also cleared the air while the state governor, Dr Fayemi decided to concede to defeat despite clear reasons to contest the result. Prof. Modupe revealed to NAIJA CENTER NEWS (NCN) that the governor too the decision in order to save the people of Ekiti State as there was a standby instruction to shoot anyone who would protest. She said ‘’The governor saved the day, he did not want a situation where our people will go to the street and start to demonstrate, we knew that there was a circular that anyone found demonstrating should be shot. A governor who performed, how could APC have lost all the 15 local government? It’s unprecedented. The governor elect, Ayo Fayose had earlier accused Dr. Fayemi of conceding to defeat just for public sympathy. Responding to the accusation, the Deputy Governor said ‘’Governor Fayemi does not need sympathy, he is a gentleman, if you do something to save your people, is it for sympathy? He was just being decent and civilized. If he had said no, our people would have taken to the street. The military men were kept in Ekiti State for four days after the election thinking our people will protest and if there was riot; our people would have been shot. Talking about the local government creation, the deputy governor said’’ I don’t know why he is complaining about the local government creation, if you look back, the committee had been set up more than six months ago, they ought to have submitted the report about a week before the election, but because of the campaign and the election process, we shifted the submission of their report. It’s not something we did yesterday or two days ago. ‘’But this government will be over in October and does this mean we have to fold our hands before we handover? We can still govern the state till then. She also said she did not know if the governor ignored Fayose’s phone call as he alleged, adding that the man she knows, Dr. Fayemi, is decent and civilized and as such, will not do that. She said ‘’Well I wouldn’t know that, maybe you should ask Dr. Fayemi because he is a decent and civilized person that he will not do that, I trust him. |
PDP Urges Governor Amaechi, Emma Chinda, Others To Respond To Corruption Allegations The Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Chapter says it feels justified by the revelations emanating from the Ikwerre Political Forum which is one of the latest in the series of revelations of corruption and fraudulent actions of Governor Rotimi Amaechi and his aides, an ugly trend that characterizes the Amaechi-led State government which the party had over the period complained about. Coming on the heels of the PDP’s charges of corruption against the Governor, a United Kingdom based politician, and President of Ikwerre Political Forum, IPF, Mr. Great Owhor, has disclosed that the Governor Amaechi led government is neck deep in corruption, saying that claims by the Governor of zero tolerance for corruption in Rivers State is deceptive and cannot be defended by him, as evidences of his misappropriation of public funds abound. The PDP says though stunning, it’s not shocked to hear this because it has enough evidence of Governor Amaechi’s misdeeds and abuse of office as well as those of his acolytes in his Executive Council, Assembly men and other aides. The Party expresses confidence in the disclosure by Mr. Owhor and the Ikwerre Political Forum published in the Beacon Newspaper of June 27, 2014, in which the group said Governor Amaechi owns several houses in London and that during the opening of one of his houses in Western London, he (Amaechi) threw a lavish party where no expense was spared. The group, still in same publication, said it is only under Amaehci that a serving Commissioner could embark on a multi-billion naira project and nobody is asking questions, wondering why the State House of Assembly and the Governor continue to cover up corruption and the looting of the State treasury by cabinet members. The Party adds that it’s also not lost on it that Amaechi’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Emma Chinda is building a shopping mall along Abacha road in Port Harcourt, which so far has gulped over 3 billion naira, saying that same level of corruption is being carried out by his counterparts in Power, Health, Transport, and Education. While commending the courage and patriotism exhibited by the Ikwerre Political Forum in exposing these evils by the governor on the State, the PDP calls on other well meaning individuals and organizations not to be silent over the corrupt practices of Amaechi which have become a State policy. The PDP, while calling on the Governor, Emma Chinda and other corrupt officials of Rivers State government to respond to the Corruption charges against them, also wants for explanation on the whereabouts of the 3,000 pounds Rotimi Amaechi (as Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly) refused to handover to the Ogbakor Ikwerre in London when he represented the then Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, and was asked to deliver to the Ikwerre socio-cultural organization, as contained in the IPF statement in the media. It is however, on the strength of these stunning revelations that the Party reiterates its persistent call on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices Commissioner, ICPC, and other relevant agencies to urgently commence investigations on Governor Amaechi and his political aides to avert further squandering of public funds in the State. By naijacenternews The founder, Foundation for the Elderly and the Poor (EAP)Ambassador, Habiba Abubakar, wrote a letter to president Goodluck Jonathan, Senate President, Distinguished David Mark, and speaker of the house, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal on 26/October/2013. Till now, the President and the speaker of House of Representatives have intentionally chosen to ignore what will benefit the average Nigerian. Thanks to the Senate President, David Mark, who did not only respond but also forwarded it to comity of health for further consideration. President Jonathan transformation agenda is laughable as his primary concentration is repairing of roads, airports, and other things that will benefit mostly those who are already in the upper class in the society.Could one think of transformation agenda without thinking of the elderly, the children and the poor? I am sure not as these group of people are those that really need transformation. If Nigeria chose to be the most develop country in the world without paying attention to what will benefit the ordinary people, i will consider my great country the poorest of all. According to Nelson Mandela, there is a certain level of poverty you can endure. In Nigeria, poverty has engulf so many that it leads to the deterioration of health. People say health is wealth and when the health becomes terrible, you spend the little you have to strive and stay alive. Hospital bill in Nigeria is unbearable as the price to perform an operation is equivalent or more than the money you need to buy a plot of land in the villages. I was surprised when i read a man like Aminu Tambuwal, the speaker of the house of representative lambasting the President. Nigeria is a country where stupid mocks fool. It has been revealed over the years that Politicians do not care about their own people. Even the great legend, Michael jackson sang a song titled " They don't really care about us" after observing the abandonment of those who we entrusted our lives and properties with, betraying us. Meanwhile, the government who were supposed to know their primary responsibilities are busy involving themselves in drug trafficking, oil looting, getting richer and abandoning those that matters a lot in the society. And his Ministers buying expensive cars for themselves when they had never ever bought a car of 20 million with there own hard earned money before they came to the office and yet Goodluck being the first bad luck of Nigeria, cannot do away with such ministers. And with that amount they are spending, it will go along way in buying drugs for our elderly people. In the letter I wrote to the President, I stressed that many youths of today do many things they are not proud of in order to assist their age parents medically. I suggested that President Jonathan should sponsor a bill that will make it mandatory for all arms of government, Federal, State, and Local Government to provide free medical care for elderly people in the various parts of the country. A good initiative that was supposed to be warmly welcomed by the president and Tambuwal has been completely ignored as it does not yield the usual profit to their pocket. What is more important than the health of people National Assembly, Aminu Tambuwal and his people refused to pass the health bill while they are busy passing a law that will benefit them, e.g, allowing public office holders to operate foreign bank accounts. (very funny). We are watching all of you, and we will all show you who we are in 2015. Who amongst Nigerian politicians will get a burial like that of Madiba? I will rather go to Amigo to drink ice cream than to come out to bid you farewell on your death. “Stupid mocks fool” – Habiba Abubakar Lambasts Jonathan, Tambuwal Read more: http://www.naijacenter.com/news/stupid-mocks-fool-habiba-abubakar-lambasts-jonathan-tambuwal/ An Open Letter To President Jonathan For Law On Free Medical Care For The Elderly- EAP Read more: http://www.naijacenter.com/news/an-open-letter-to-president-jonathan-for-law-on-free-medical-care-for-the-elderly-eap/

The embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, yesterday, told the Senate Committee on Aviation that the sector was in collapse before she was appointed the minister. She added that after her assumption, she restructured the sector to meet the modern standards. She revealed this when she appeared before the Senate Committee on Aviation. She said that the crashed Associated Airlines was still under investigation and that a black-box laboratory centre has been established in the country. She said that instead of crucifying her for the challenges she is facing in the sector, she should be commended as her intervention helped give the aviation sector a new look to meet modern standard. According to her, the aviation sector was in a collapse position when she took office in July 2011. her words “ The sector was dilapidated, unmanned and highly unprofessional” when she took a facility tour on assumption of office in July, 2011. Angry Jonathan replies Obasanjo, says letter self-serving, provocative President Goodluck Jonathan has dismissed as “most reckless” and “unjustifiable” a fiercely scathing letter he received from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in which Mr. Obasanjo accused him of lying, condoning corruption, and leading Nigeria to the brink of collapse. A statement by the president’s aide, Reuben Abati, said the allegations by the former president were “baseless and indecorous.” The statement said Mr. Jonathan has directed his aides not to respond to the barrage of attacks and allegations from Mr. Obasanjo, listed in an 18-page letter exclusively published by PREMIUM TIMES. Mr. Jonathan will personally respond to the charges at the “appropriate time”, the statement said. “While many patriotic, objective and well-meaning Nigerians have already condemned the leaked letter as self-serving, hypocritical, malicious, indecent, and very disrespectful of the highest office in the land, President Jonathan has directed that none of his aides or any government official should join issues with Chief Obasanjo over it,” Mr. Abati said. “The president himself will, at the appropriate time, offer a full personal response to the most reckless, baseless, unjustifiable and indecorous charges levelled against him and his administration by the former Head of State.” In the highly acerbic letter, Mr. Obasanjo laid out a series of allegations against Mr. Jonathan, accusing him of corruption and ineptitude. Mr. Obasanjo lamented that Mr. Jonathan had become terribly divisive and clannish, destroying his own party, polarizing the country along regional and religious lines and ridiculing Nigeria in the comity of nations. He blamed Mr. Jonathan for the crises tearing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, apart, and accused him of lacking in personal integrity by consistently lying about his ambition for a new term of office. Mr. Obasanjo also tackled Mr. Jonathan for allegedly being clannish. “For you to allow yourself to be “possessed”, so to say, to the exclusion of most of the rest of Nigerians as an “Ijaw man” is a mistake that should never have been allowed to happen. Yes, you have to be born in one part of Nigeria to be Nigerian if not naturalized but the Nigerian President must be above ethnic factionalism. And those who prop you up as of, and for ‘Ijaw nation’ are not your friends genuinely, not friends of Nigeria nor friends of ‘Ijaw nation’ they tout about. “To allow or tacitly encourage people of ‘Ijaw nation’ to throw insults on other Nigerians from other parts of the country and threaten fire and brimstone to protect your interest as an Ijaw man is myopic and your not openly quieting them is even more unfortunate.” The former president also accused Mr. Jonathan of placing over 1000 Nigerians on political watch list and “training snipers and other armed personnel secretly and clandestinely acquiring weapons to match for political purposes like Abacha and training them where Abacha trained his killers”. The former President also called on the National Assembly to rise up and take decisive action over the allegation that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation failed to remit billions of dollars in proceed of crude oil sales to the federation account. “This allegation will not fly away by non-action, cover-up, denial or bribing possible investigators,” Mr. Obasanjo told the President. “Please deal with this allegation transparently and let the truth be known.” The Senate on Wednesday ordered an investigation. The senate committee on finance is to probe the allegation and make its findings known in seven days. The presidency did not respond to any of the issues specifically beyond dismissing them as “provocative and unjustifiable.” Mr. Abati said President Jonathan will respond personally. But the statement criticised the leakage of the letter to the media. “We however find it highly unbecoming, mischievous and provocative that a letter written by a former Head of State and respected elder statesman to President Jonathan has been deliberately leaked to the mass media in a deplorable effort to impugn the integrity of the president and denigrate his commitment to giving Nigeria the best possible leadership,” the statement said. Read the statement by the president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, below. OBASANJO’S LETTER UNBECOMING, SELF-SERVING AND HIGHLY PROVOCATIVE We have noted the publication on several websites today of a letter recently written by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The Presidency acknowledges that it has indeed received the said letter from Chief Obasanjo. We however find it highly unbecoming, mischievous and provocative that a letter written by a former Head of State and respected elder statesman to President Jonathan has been deliberately leaked to the mass media in a deplorable effort to impugn the integrity of the President and denigrate his commitment to giving Nigeria the best possible leadership. The president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has said that some of the greatest problem in Africa is for the leaders to begin to think that the country they are elected to lead are their own personal estates. His words " Some of the greatest problems in Africa is for us who are leaders to begin to think that the country we are elected to lead are not our personal estates." The president revealed this while responding to questions from Aljazeera. He said "Nelson Mandela never saw South Africa as his Personal Estate but as a state he was privileged to sit over ." He added that "If leaders begin to see the country as not their personal properties, but a country dear to everybody, if the country progresses, everybody including the future generation will be okay, and that is the beginning of the great transformation in Africa" He also said that African leaders should learn to display Mandela's qualities. He said " Nelson Mandela demonstrated clearly that a leader must be patient, have forgiven spirit, bring peace, and make sure that the people are united" While explaining how the ordinary people should remember Nelson Mandela, he said "what the world, whether you are a South African, East African, a Nigerian or anybody, what we can all do is to make sure that we all fight against the vices that Mandela fought for" Watch the video here: http://www.naijacenter.com/news/video-african-leaders-countries-personal-estates-jonathan/ |
A question i know individuals have requested since the demise of the extraordinary man, Nelson Mandela, the main address that continues ringing a bell is, What if Nelson Mandela was a Nigerian? Do we have Nelson Mandela in Nigeria? In any case, the response i get from my psyche is not empowering. Ehi Ekhator writes. Mandela was a contender for freedom, a forgiver, a country builder, a leader, a man with a sense of oratory and totally objective. NO, The question is completely wrong because Nelson Mandela would never have been a Nigerian, the question is completely wrong because he would have been dead for many years, the question is very wrong because he would have been abandoned by those he fought for. really, what if Mandela was a Nigerian? Mandela wouldn't have made it out of the prison if he was a Nigerian. When M.K.O was in prison, i remembered my father told me, "son, is either he is murdered in prison or he will die the moment he is released, oh... oh... i wish i can reach him to tell him to stay away from something he loves so much" M.K.O can't be compared to Mandela but he was murdered anyways,. How about Ken Sarowiwa? If Mandela was a Nigerian, the Nigerians he fought for would have said "No mind am, he wan show say e get power na, make them jail am small. Na em get power pass" Others would say "He wan die for Nigeria, i no fit die for this country o" But Mandela fought, he knew it would cost him but he fought for what he believed in. Individuals like Obasanjo, Tinubu, Babangida, Abacha, Atiku and even our present president Jonathan might not set out to say "I Learned From Mandela". Nigeria does not have leaders, we have homicidal vampires who stick to office through encroachment. Nobody learned from Mandela, the heart of forgiveness is gone for years, there was just one man with such heart and he died few days ago. The planet i know is presently full of the insidious and nonsensical people who have faith in retribution. Obama said he took in a ton from Mandela, that is totally moronic and ludicrous on the grounds that the Obama i know is a snake that furtively nibble. For the individuals who sent their sympathy, they are not immaculate enough to, Mandela was only one cleaned man who existed around wrongdoers( (us) A man who pardoned the individuals who harmed and used his 27 years of his existence to no end. Did Obasanjo did that? He had the opportunity to be Mandela when he vacated jail, what did he do? Did Gabriel Osawaru did that? he had the opportunity to meet Mandela and presumably conversed with him, however he didn't, Did Jonathan gained experience from him? Heck no as Efcc and police are pursuing whoever crossed the president's way. Nigerians go to beer parlour to celebrate whenever they lost a politician. In their hearts, it is MINUS ONE. Nigerians don't care about whose politicians plane crashed unless when it involves the ordinary people. The politicians on the other hand do not care if the people they govern eat or have good water, good road, good education or anything that will make them one day, challenge their authorities. The politicians i know are deceivers including those who claimed to be ACTIVISTS and HUMAN RIGHT GROUPS. So, Mandela can't be a Nigerian Mandela would have been nailed like Jesus Christ if he was a Nigerian, he would have been lynched after being framed by the powerful ones. Those with hearts to lead in Nigeria are all in the jail, the individuals we see wandering the workplace are the villains in Uniform. Mandela will live forever, we honour him and no one will ever be him.
