By Maiwada Dammallam "If you wear a mask for too long, there would come a time when you cannot remove it without removing your face for the skeleton to show" - Matshona Dhilwayo It's not entirely out of character for Buba Galadima to predict doom for President Muhammadu Buhari. Galadima is relapsing from a political ailment he was cured by the victory of President Buhari in the APC presidential primaries where (the novice they thought he was) he trashed veteran political gurus including the candidate of Galadima. From accusing then 'Gen. Buhari' of reneging from his promise never to contest elections to accusing him of highhandedness, there wasn't a single trick in the book spared by Galadima to create a more containable situation for his candidate to clinch the APC ticket. He was trashed! Now that 2019 is in view and as ambitions die hard, it's another round of demagoguery. To characters like Buba Galadima 'well' is only well when it's well with them because their definition of 'well' is as interpretive as their idea of community which, in their warped minds begins and ends within the four walls of households. All the 'Buhari-is-going-to-be-a-loner-2019' balderdash would surreptitiously change to 'NO VACANCY IN THE VILLA 2019' at the first sign of an invitation to play the game with a ministerial (striker) boots. To these clowns, a government is never complete or functional unless they call the shots. Common! Nigeria just came out from the PDP ship to be deceived with phantom predictions of false storms ahead. In any case, how many 'dooms' did Galadima prophesied for President Buhari none of which come to pass? Did he not prophesied that President Buhari's ambition would never see light of the day when he was identified as one of the liabilities of the ambition and promptly kicked out? In this 'crystal glass business' I have more respect for T. B. Joshua than Galadima. At least, Joshua had the decency to explain that his prophesy for a Clinton win was predicated on popular votes not the electoral collage abracadabra that's as confusing as Trump's meteoric rise from political novice to the President of the most powerful democracy. Even when Joshua went an extra mile to prophesied a bumpy White House/Capitol Hill relationship under Clinton, I will still give him more marks than Galadima who left us without any explanation as to how Buhari floored his 'primary-school-renovating-contract-awarding' candidate with 3430 to 974 votes in the APC primary and went further to floor a sitting President with a healthy margin that, even with the 'DO OR DIE' default PDP settings, the clearly desperate Jonathan was left with no opinion than to concede and congratulate Buhari even before official declaration of results. Of course, we have to thank Laurent Gbagbo for putting Jonathan in the right frame of mind to weigh his options and respond appropriately. Futuristically, what should fairly be the foreseeable situation in 2019 to support Galadima's theory of a 'lone Buhari'? If Galadima is consumed by ambition and revenge to see credible CHANGE unfolding as promised by President Buhari, Nigerians are neither under spell nor obligation to suffer low brain functionality of people suffering such afflictions. Nigerians are grateful that today, less than 2 years in office they could go to mosques and churches without fear of being blown to pieces with bombs and IEDs - something hitherto, assumed to be impossible considering the billions of dollars and lives wasted for 5 years yet, with no solution in sight. Why shouldn't Nigerians stick with President Buhari 2019 when in 2016 he could provide 200,000 job opportunities (with more to come) for free for young Nigerians across 36 states/774 LGs without a single drop of blood wasted where in just 2014, 675,675 graduate applicants were defrauded of about N675,675,000, having been made to pay N1000 each as processing fees for 5,000 job opening in a scandalous and globally condemned scheme that left over 20 promising young men and women dead from stampede at mischievously designated recruitment centers. Shouldn't Galadima allow these youth who are beginning to take their rightful position under President Buhari speak for themselves? Only reversed thinking brains will refuse to stick with President Buhari 2019. But to the jaundiced and the naive, President Buhari has left no one in doubt about his high quality as a military General who could improvise his war skills to democratically salvage a sinking nation bequeathed to him by a class of pseudo-democrats. Why shouldn't voters stick with him? Is it an offense in Nigeria's scriptures of democracy to stop public funds pilferage as President Buhari ingeniously did with the courageous Treasury Single Account (TSA), or is it a crime in Nigeria's version of democracy to retrieve stolen public funds from unpatriotic elements and apply same for social services beneficial to the common man while keeping shady characters away from institutions of power to avoid abusing public trust. Nigerians are cured and they hate seeing Nigeria a toddler at 50 plus hence, a promising solution for growth like President Buhari would never be a loner on the journey to a nation of his dream. Nigerians went through hell to arrive at 'Buhari'. They dared unimaginable odds to beat a well organized conspiracy by Nigeria's conscienceless pseudo-democrats to make 'Buhari' happen and would not abandon him just because Galadima's crystal glass gave him a wrong reading. Sure, you can take a pig out of a gutter but can't take the gutter out of a pig. Still, must Galadima go outside normal 'gutterness' just to remain relevant by making periodic 'notice me' noises as is common with 'Abuja politicians' who have lost touch with reality along with any claim to relevancy hence, left with no option but to create a fantasy world of their own to live their dreams. Thankfully from time immemorial dreams remain just DREAMS! Far as I'm concerned, Galadima is exercising his freedom to dream as he wish. It's not for me to stop him burning brain fuel in sleep mode. Some may see his recent tantrums as 'political mating call'. Well, it's the season. They may also be right. |

Caseless:My brother, this is exalt the reason why I don't spend much of my time arguing with non-Muslim about religion online. Copy and paste is much more easy those days. |
Caseless:No. What I am saying is Johndon22 may be mistaken saying it is in horse instead. Most non-Muslim are not getting their knowledge about Islam from Quran and Hadith. Rather relying on anti-Muslim website or a site that claimed to be owned Muslim. This is why they never get the true picture of Islam. |

By Maiwada Dammallam Street urchins and spiders have one thing in common. Spiders are happy to eat other spiders and so does street urchins. You can't raise both in big groups for commercial purposes. Perhaps, that may explain just a handful of street urchins rather than a reasonable crowd that could reflect the budget for the sponsored show of solidarity for former President Jonathan by the sacked and fully deactivated former lords of Sokoto politics. Had a good laugh watching the tattered kids praying for the return of the 'deadly Jonah' in the ancient city where he went to console the sultanate on the death of one of its illustrious sons, former Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki. That in itself is a display of the level of intellect of the organisers of the 'Jonathan-is-still-relevant' charade in the Sultanate. They were so miserly to afford a decent crowd despite the billions of blood money they are holding tight to like a second life. Nothing could be more entertaining than watching a fool trying to exhaust his natural share of foolishness by 'wasting' trying to fool the smart - especially those taught to be smart by difficult experiences. A mixture of black coffee and red palm oil on a hot morning would make more sense than Sokoto people praying for the return of Jonathan at least, to those still in full possession of their minds - those not psychologically disorganised by Jonathan-induced bombs and IEDs. The 'Nigerian' fact is, with a fraction of the N4bn 'prayer vote' allocated to a seasoned Sokoto 'political Alfa', those urchins would wholeheartedly and enthusiastically campaign for Jonathan to be turbaned the Sultan of Sokoto. By the way, where were these 'Jonathan come back' urchins that a colossal sum of N4bn was needed to pray for smooth sail of the Jonathan ship in the sultanate in those days? All the more reason why there should be refund. Or is it not yet clear that we were scammed? That's by the way. In reality, not even kids on the streets of Otuake would pray for a replay of the disaster that was Jonathan's administration; not after the expose about what Nigeria really went through in the hands of Jonathan and his carefully selected gang of sugar-ant looters. What do they want him back for, the bombs or the gory sight of severed limps and shattered torsos in churches and mosques on Fridays and Sundays? An inebriated man submerged in a mixed ocean of expired 'Kain-kain and Ogogoro' laced with powdered 'ganja' would have better sense than wish for the return of those horrific days. Jonathan was a disaster worse than tsunami! Actually the story is more about those who believe the stunt and seem ready to invest their dreams and build future political ambitions in it than those who, out of pressing gut demands, carried placards to fulfil their part of diabolic bargain. The same urchins that were paid to carry the 'Jonathan come back' placards would gladly strip Jonathan naked and parade him round the streets of Sokoto with a rope around his waist for free moments after the expiration of their contract. Oh yes! It was wholly and completely a PAID relevance and shame on the people who chose to play politics with the gut instincts of the shortchanged kids. May Allah turn the table and put their kids on the other side to have a taste of praying for the return of a deadly, thieving and ineffective class of leadership for no better reason than to assuage an immediate gut demand. For those with the stability to still think straight despite the trauma of our immediate past, this calls for immediate and appropriate response to the serious theft of our commonwealth by a handful few. Proceeds from the mind boggling collective heist perpetrated against Nigeria by members of the Jonathan administration would continue to be used to destabilise this administration for these thieves to have a clean break from their misdeeds. Only to those who move around with their brains in their pockets should this fail to make sense. No one should be fooled. The Sokoto crowd is a creation of our immediate past as designed and moulded by the ineffective and disastrous PDP. Not in this lifetime would any Nigerian pray for have Joanthan back even as a news item. |

WHAILER is a cross breed between a "whailer" and a "hailer". Ability to understand this new and dangerous political tool is as important as understanding the whys and hows we arrived where we are today hence, this modest contribution is to educate the public. To understand the 'Whailer' you have to understand the 'hailer' and the 'wailer. First the hailer: The 'hailer' is that follower of PMB/APC whose belief in the two is unshakeable and total without room for negotiation and adjustment. The 'wailer' is the opposite of a 'hailer'. Both were products of the intrigues that gave birth to the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari. While the 'hailer' is convincingly one of the tools used to dismantle the previous regime, the 'wailer' is a similar tool desperately created to balance the effect of the 'hailer' on the political fortunes of a new opposition class. Restless with the almost nil result of the invention, the opposition went back into the lab and came up with a 'WHAILER'. The 'whailer' is the most innovative invention of a washed out political class whose determination to resurrect from the wilderness of irrelevance is as strong as the collective determination of Nigerians to ensure Nigeria remain free of such deadly afflictions. The 'whailer' is as dangerous as a wolf in sheep clothing. To benefit from the tripodal political configuration consisting of the 'hailer', the 'wailer' and the newly born 'whailer' on which Nigeria is precariously balanced one need to understand their characteristics. Characteristically, the 'hailer' is almost always on the defensive; ever untying knotty theories, dissecting lies against the regime, defending actions and highlighting achievements of PMB and occasionally doing same in favor of the ruling APC. The 'wailer' on the other hand is always on the offensive sometimes even at the risk of jeopardizing his/her intellectual, moral and social make-up. A 'wailer' operates on a default setting of total disagreement and disbelief. He/she jumps into the arena of public discourse even without understanding the topic. With a 'wailer' you never win. The 'whailer' is the most tricky and dangerous leg of the tripod. He/she is a sheep and wolf. He/she hunt with hounds and run with the hare. A friend and a foe. A 'whailer' is always meticulous in his/her mode of attack and periodically remind the public he/she is a friend on a mission to rescue and assist the regime improve. His/her style includes generating arguments on topical issues by highlighting complex aspect of a problem which requires better qualification to understand and argue same from the elevation of ignorance yet, with the sophistication of a professional with the simple objective of confusing the gullible. He/she is always there - armed with Google - when Naira devaluation, recession, foreign direct investment (FDI) etc are the topic. His job is to confuse and distract. Now let's get down to business. By Maiwada Dammalam Much as I share the pains of parents and family members of late Izuchukwu F. Ezimoha, the young man executed for drug trafficking in far away Indonesia and whose funeral was held with pomp and pageantry in his village of Ezigbo, I will not subscribe to their idea of "heroism" as the executed drug peddler was lavishly described by his funeral posters etc. Ezimoha's tragic end is sad and much as it induced traditional grief, it should also induce sober reflection by the family and Nigerians particularly the Igbo of the Southeastern Nigeria. This is a fine young man that could have been anything legit but was allowed to be wasted in pursuit of quick wealth. Our society has abandoned old ideals on which quality character used to be founded in favor of "get rich quick" ideals that always leaves behind trails of blood and pain. Looking at the picture of Ezimoha as the death penalty was passed on him; which must have also came with the realization that the cottons were about to be closed on him and the only way he could ever get back to his Ezigbo village would be in a casket, one could see the regret for not listening to voice of reason. In one short moment, all the blitz and glitz and allure of a movie star kind of life that pushed him to cross the thin line between life and death were lost in that short moment. All the fancy clothes, the fancy cars and "A" class holiday resorts were reduced to nothing but a dream turned into nightmare. I'm sure the picture of his beautiful mansion in his village must have meant nothing to him in that short moment of hopelessness and must have remained so till life was snuffed out of him by the hot bullets. His village was yet to get over its grief when another set of 7 young Igbo "International businessmen" were nabbed in Hydrabad India. The septet of Ejeana Rapheal Chidara, Ugochukwu Solomon Ubabuko, Obiora Chukwumeka Peter, Chrisval Akuabata, Okorie Samson Chukwuebuka, Eze Christian Chukwu and Uzo Promise Chukwudi were arrested by Indian police after long investigation of their hideous activities. From their names, one could easily hazard a guess that all the arrested young men were from the Igbo extraction. I refuse to be naive and assume that it's coincidental that almost all Nigerian young men arrested across the globe in drug related issues are mostly young Igbos. Certainly there must be a driving force behind young men of Igbo extraction making the deadly drug trafficking business a business of choice and, I also don't believe it's the quick gains of the trade. If that's the case, other Nigerian youth of that category would have joined the train. I believe the insistence of Igbo youth to stake it all in pursuit of their dreams is not unrelated with the manner elders of the region treat such deadly businesses with the same honour and respect they treat other legit pursuit as described by the hero funeral of Ezimoha. It beats me why a young man who decided to cross the globe to ferry deadly wares that could potentially destroy a whole generation of youth be treated as anything but an anathema to humanity. Nobody could pretend ignorance about the menace of drugs in any human society. Currently Nigeria is under the vice grips of local drugs like codeine and other substances which could be bought over the counter without any prescription and, which when ingeniously abused give as much "high" (and as much death) as the deadly and expensive cocaine, heroine etc. It's a duty to every Nigerian to condemn the actions of drug traffickers and revolt against seeming gains of the deadly trade the traders as outcasts. This is not particularly difficult especially for the Igbo community known for the revulsion against "osu". The fact that Indonesia refused any call for clemency to save people like Ezioha is indicative of its resolve to save its youth from randy young men afflicted with the "get rich quick or die trying" syndrome. It's instructive to note that no sane nation would allow its youth to be destroyed by being weak to implement its laws. To the Igbo young men and indeed, the rest of Nigerian youth, the price for easy money is always heavy. Just in case you decide to go for it, be fair and consider people you will leave behind to carry the shame of burying you while struggling to hide the cause of your death as the family of Ezioha struggled to hide the cause of his death by just writing "who died in oversea". Please don't just die in "oversea", die honourably. |
