Good day,

Thanks alot for the info

bigiyaro:
how to detect or avoid dis scam; 1. Don't use ur regular sim to open bank acct, try having another sim diffrent from d one u use in sendin sms or make calls or give to pple in general. I normally a sim in my tab, no way am i recievin an alert on dat sim if its not from d bank. 2: check ur total bank bal if it colorates wit d last alert u got. eg if ur last bal was 2k der is no way d scmer will know n of cos d alert must show u ur total bal. Lastly always try to verify d transaction via internet bankin app, am sure most banks have apps.

Webmasters / Bank SMS Alert Scam by NaijaScams: 5:22pm On Jul 22, 2015
My dear Nigerians,

There is a new scam I was just told of, on how a lady was scammed of N2.7m.

The story goes like this (this is not exactly word from but a summary):

A lady wanted to sell her car for N2.7m and took it to a place to showcase it. Someone saw the car and indicated interest, so he contacted the lady. They met somewhere to discuss further on it and an agreement was made. The lady gave the man her bank details and he left.

After some time the man said he was going to send the money and later she received an SMS alert from her bank that the sum of money had been deposited in her account, at which time the man came to pick up the car.

She handed the keys over to him and he drove away.

The lady later went to the bank and she found out that the amount in question was not deposited in her account but the scammer forged the SMS alert to look like it came from her bank.

Please, let’s use this unfortunate experience to take proper precautions when dealing with people we do not know.

The ones about sending money are stale. Only greedy people are scammed for those ones but they are becoming current and following the thread and if care is not taken more people will be caught unawares

Webmasters / Gtbank Online BVN Registration Scam by NaijaScams: 10:57am On Jul 21, 2015
I take God beg una,

If you receive emails on clicking on a link, especially if it is not a registration you just did for verification of your email, please do not be hasty to click on the link but be sure to confirm the originality.

Can you imagine these scammers taking advantage of people by using BVN, as a current situation, to get their details and possibly steal money or use them for other dubious means.

If you receive similar emails as shown in bold below, do not respond. In fact delete and if you can notify friends and family so they do not fall victims.

“From: GTBank <z1641609@students.niu.edu>

INCOMPLETE BVN (PERMANENT ACCOUNT TERMINATION)

Dear Customer;

The online registration for your Unique Identification Number (BVN) is
incomplete. Failure to complete this process will result in permanent
termination of your ATM card and your bank account as directed by CBN.

COMPLETE HERE: .............................

This is a Mandatory Online Registration process.

GUARANTY ELECTRONIC NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
GTCONNECT © 2015.”

First of all, there is nothing like online BVN registration.

Secondly, the email address it is from is titled GTBank but the email itself is z1641609@students.niu.edu. It has FAKE written all over it.

Third, a bank will tell you to go to their website and login, rather than to click a link.

If you have any doubt concerning any email, kindly send it to us so we can help you verify its authenticity.

Please do not fall for their tricks. Be Careful!

They are using various means to access people's information, such that they disguise like bank officials so that you click links which they can use to trace data transmitting through your device
Webmasters / Re: Domain SEO Service Registration Scam by NaijaScams: 1:47pm On Jul 06, 2015
There are so many email scams going on, and they have evolved from the popular ones where someone sends a mail on how you can help them because they are about to die or something and want to give you money or send it to charity
Webmasters / Domain SEO Service Registration Scam by NaijaScams: 2:41pm On Jul 05, 2015
My fellow webmasters,

Scammers are out to ruin the business you have patiently built for yourself and make you look incompetent to your clients.

They can use information from domains you have registered to possibly hack your sites or for other dubious means.

They can get this information from whois.com or any other domain registration information portal, claiming that there is an expiration offer notice of your domain registration for www.example.com search engine optimization submission

Please be careful not to respond to emails as shown in the screenshot below or click on any links, as they can attach a virus to the email. Once you click it, a key logger is downloaded into your device. Then they track every text and transaction you make on your device.
