Davido has dedicated the two awards he won at the 2017 Africa Muzik Magazine Awards & Music Festival (AFRIMMA) to two of his friends – Tagbo and DJ Olu – who died days apart last week.

Davido won the biggest prize of the night, taking home both the Artist of the Year award and the Song of the Year Award for “IF.”

The singer shared a photo of the awards and wrote:

One for Olu, One for Tagbo � ! Nothing but love , support , and positive energy came from you guys ! Thanks for you guys for keeping me motivated . This is ‘OUR’ Award. Thank you Afrimma ! Thank you Lord.

Earlier today, we brought you reports that for the second time in a week, after the death of Tagbo, Nigerian popstar, Davido lost two friends close to him.

DJ Olu (Olugbenga Abiodun) the son of popular oil tycoon, ‘Dapo Abiodun’ and one of DMW crew ‘Chime’ were said to have died earlier yesterday inside their car.

The shocked singer reacted to news of their deaths on his Snapchat – Earlier today, Davido’s hypeman, Special Spesh, in his own reaction, stated that he knows evil when he sees one, he wrote;

Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, has reacted to Pastor Adeboye’s statement on opening churches everywhere in the country.

According to the patriarch who described such branches as “mere business centres,” there is no Godliness in the decision by some churches in the country to have as many branches as possible and planting churches in close proximity.
He said;“In order to bring us together and to get sanity back into this country, the fear of God must be number one. Nigerians of today don’t care a hoot about God.
For example, I heard that one of my colleagues, (Pastor Enoch) Adeboye, said that he would love to build churches everywhere so as to make it easy for worshipers to walk to them. But for me, that is a useless statement. How can you say you will build churches everywhere?
What kind of churches are you talking about? “Look at traffic in Lagos for example, and those who are pastors are traders and a good number of them are business men. Such churches in most cases are more like business houses! “Look at the number of churches springing up in Lagos. If the Muslims start building mosques like that, does it show that Nigeria is a religious country?

Every day we hear of killings and other things that we were not hearing before. “We can’t even walk on the streets freely. You have to be watching yourself left, right and centre to know who the man coming behind you is. It wasn’t like that before. Churches must ensure that there is fear of God. “And I’m just telling you that those churches that he is talking about are just business centres.
They rented houses and in order to make more money, they license them. They pay their dues to the bosses in the churches, every one of them. Some of them, I have three or four examples, they can’t pay their own house rents. Yet every Sunday, they gather in the house there and say they are opening churches. “The landlord there says; ‘give me my rent, if you can’t pay then get out.’ You see the trouble? Whereas people who can pay who are really, sincerely looking for houses to rent can’t get any to rent.
These are some of the things. One must think twice; and I don’t think that God wants us to serve him with force” he said.

Nigerian singer, Simi, alleged to be girlfriend of colleague Adekunle Gold, and recently linked to rapper Falz, had a chat with Sunday Scoop, and she disclosed how she met the artistes.

She said:
“I met Adekunle Gold while I was performing at an event centre in Lagos. Unknown to me, he had been listening to me since I was a gospel artiste and he said he was a fan of my music. At that time, I just knew him as a graphic artist, popularly referred to as the ‘King of Photoshop;’ I didn’t even know he was a singer, but we just became close from there. As for Falz, he heard one of my works, and he reached out to me on Twitter. From there, we hooked up in the studio and did some things together. Soldier was actually my song, and when he heard it, we decided to work together on it,” she said.
On her relationship status, she said:
“I always like to keep my personal life away from the public. All I can say is that I am in a relationship but I just don’t want to disclose the person’s name.”

This is sad, Pastor Olu Obanure, Assistant General Overseer and Pastor-in-charge of RCCG, (West Coast) of The Redeemed Christian Church of God is dead.

His sudden death was announced in a statement signed by the Assistant General Overseer (Admin/Personnel), Pastor Funso Odesola. Pastor Obanure died on Tuesday 2nd May, 2017 at the age of 65 years.

The late Pastor Obanure, until his death, served the RCCG mission in various capacities, such as Special Assistant to the General Overseer (Admin/Personnel); Pastor-in-charge of West Coast with base in Ghana and as the Provincial Pastor, Northern Province 5, with Headquarters in Abuja.

Kogi-state born Obanure had a Masters Degree in Communications and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan. He is survived by wife and children.

Former Nigerian minister of education, Prof Babalola Borishade, dies at the age of 71.

He died in London on Wednesday after a brief illness.

He was initially rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, last week from where he was taken to London. The cause of death was lung and heart –related.

Borishade was born in Usi- Ekiti on March 7, 1946 into the Ebi Ilotin family.

He served as a minister for four times, between 1999-2011. The electrical engineer was also a teacher and a political strategist.

Between February 2001 and May 2003, he served as the Minister of Education.

In recognition of his contributions to Education in Nigeria, Africa and the World at large, Borishade was elected the Vice- Chairman of the E9 Group of the United Nations, President of the UNESCO International Conference on Education, as well as Chairman Education for All (EFA) Forum of African Ministers of Education.

In 2004, Borishade was appointed as Minister of State, Power and Steel.

He initiated the ‘Gas to Power Project (G2P), a World Bank sponsored project designed to ensure sustained gas development and availability for power production to meet Nigerian electricity demands.

Between July 2005 and November 2006, Borishade was Minister of Aviation, during which a Civil Aviation Bill was passed to replace the 1964 Act and the direct flight between Nigeria and the United States of America was restored.

His initiation of various reforms and development in the aviation sector resulted in Nigeria scoring 93 per cent in the ICAO Universal Audit which made Nigeria a benchmark to African Aviation Industry.

Dr. Fortunate Fiberesima, the ex-Chief Physician to former President Goodluck Jonathan has been arraigned today by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

The Commission confirmed in a statement by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, that Fiberesima was arraigned before Justice Peter Affen of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja for an alleged fraud to the tune of N258.9m.


He added that he was alleged to have abused his position as the chief physician to the President in 2012 and awarded a contract to a company where he has interests.
