A Ghanaian mother of three has lamented how her husband abandoned her because she gave birth to a girl — their third female child. Akosua (surname not mentioned) said that her husband was all loved up with her when he heard that she was pregnant, but things went sour the moment she got the result of the scan and it was revealed that she was carrying a baby girl. She said all efforts to convince him that children were blessing from God proved abortive, as he refused to listen to her pleas. Akosua said, “It was a completely traumatic time. I had this child growing inside, a beautiful thing but my husband was not happy because he wanted a son.” She narrated that she gave birth to the baby through a caesarian section and needed all the help and love she could get, but she got none of it. Rather, her husband deserted her and left her to cater for their three children all alone. His justification, Akosua explained, is that no one will inherit his name and properties when he dies. The distraught woman said she now begs to feed her children since her husband has stopped taking care of them. Omega Fire Ministries pastor, Apostle Johnson Suleiman has emphasized the need for the South East to produce Nigeria’s president. Addressing his church members yesterday, Suleiman said an Igbo president can create jobs for the teaming Nigerian youths. He, however, faulted the disunity among people of the South East, saying people of the region always fight each other. ”What we need in Nigeria now is an Igbo president. You want to create jobs for youths, get an igbo president. The Igbo man by nature knows how to do business. So if he adds academics to it, he will know how to create jobs. “But the problem is when an Igbo man becomes president, the person that will remove him is an Igbo man. In four years we had five senate presidents. From Enwerem to Okadigbo to Nnamani to Anyim. “Igbo brothers kept removing themselves. The problem with the Igbos is that they fight themselves,” he said. Popular late actor, Adeyemi Afolayan, better known as Ade Love, was a famous filmmaker in Nigeria. So, it came as a shock when one of his sons, Aremu Afolayan, stated that his father was poor despite his fame. However, Ade Love’s most popular son, Kunle Afolayan, has rubbished Aremu’s claims, insisting that their father did not die a poor man. In his words: “Do you know Ade Love? Was Ade Love a poor man? That is his (Aremu’s) own opinion as everyone has a mind of their own. I would not say things were rosy, but we were never poor. If your parents were able to give you quality education and you enjoyed some luxuries that a lot of people didn’t have access to, then you cannot openly say you come from a poor home.” He stressed that during the lifetime of his late father, he was the biggest filmmaker in Nigeria and he was always busy working on projects. He said, “I am sure I didn’t come from a poor home. Though I cannot speak for anyone, I just think he (Aremu) is stupid. I didn’t get to see the story. Funnily, some people thought I was the one who granted the interview. When the General Manager of Eko Hotel told me he read my interview in SUNDAY PUNCH, I was surprised because I didn’t grant any interview recently. Whenever I see the man again, I will let him know it was not me he read; it is a misrepresentation.” Source: https://www.naijaslog.com/2018/04/our-father-was-never-poor-kunle.html

A 42-year-old teacher has been shot dead by her ex-husband in front of her primary school pupils before killing himself in Saldanha, West Coast, South Africa. According to News24 reports, the police heard about the shooting at 07:20 on Wednesday morning and officers went to the school where they found a woman’s body in the parking area. The Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, said they found the body of a man on a road near the school. He had a wound to the head. Provincial education MEC Debbie Schäfer confirmed that the dead woman was a teacher at the school. “The teacher was allegedly shot by a male perpetrator who is reportedly her ex-spouse. The perpetrator is reported to have then turned the gun on himself. Both succumbed to their wounds,” she said. “Learners who witnessed the incident are greatly, and understandably traumatised, as are the teachers’ two children.” She said department officials were immediately dispatched to the school. “The school has made the decision to dismiss learners early and a school psychologist and social worker will be dispatched to provide counselling for those who are in need of assistance, or witnessed the event.” Teachers at the school and a neighbouring school were severely traumatised, she said, and would be given support and counselling. https://www.naijaslog.com/2018/04/ex-husband-shot-teacher-dead-in-front.html

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for allegedly harassing a businessman in the state for bribe after seizing his company documents. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, said the men were attached to the Ipakodo base of SARS. The culprits, according to him, are Inspector Taiwo Omojope, Inspector Arigidi Ebibor, Sergeant Rotimi Adesoba, Sergeant Olalekan Olakunle and Sergeant Friday Oni. According to Punch reports, the businessman, Immanuel Ibe-Anyanwu, had gone to a Zenith Bank branch at Ago-Palace Way, Okota, for a transaction when he was approached by one of the cops who took him to where their operational vehicle was parked. The victim had alleged that after searching his car and perusing his documents without finding anything incriminating, the policemen ordered him to enter the vehicle and take them to his office in the Ikoyi area of the state. After some arguments, a resident was said to have mediated, urging the policemen to release the 37-year-old. The cops were alleged to have demanded money from him, as they turned down a telephone call from the police command headquarters. Ibe-Anyanwu was said to have sneaked into the toilet of the bank on the pretext of going to withdraw money for the cops. The policemen reportedly removed the number plate of his car after waiting for about two hours. The victim said he was forced to enter his car and speed off after bank workers asked him to leave the premises. The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, was reported to have ordered that the policemen be identified and arrested. The police spokesperson, Oti, had said preliminary investigation showed that the team was led by one Inspector Jude Akhoyemta of SARS, Ikeja. But on Tuesday, he absolved Akhoyemta of complicity in the crime, saying the culprits were from the Ipakodo base of SARS Source: https://www.naijaslog.com/2018/04/police-arrests-five-sars-for-collecting.html

President of the senate, Bukola Saraki has expressed displeasure at the Federal Government's decision to tagg some senators as looters. The senator expressed concern over the release of names of senators tagged as looters. According to The Nation report, Saraki who spoke in Jos, Plateau State on Saturday at a retreat on “Strengthening Executive-Legislature Relations” said it was wrong for an arm of government to call members of the other arm looters. “In a situation where a particular arm of government stands up and calls people from another arm of government thieves, looters and other names, how can we work together? How? “It is not possible. It is not realistic. If we collaborate, the country will be better for it,” Saraki stated. He also wondered how President Buhari could write the National Assembly to endorse N4.6 trillion capital market bond without first discussing the issue with the leadership of both chambers. “Imagine the Federal Government wants to raise a N4.6 trillion bond from the capital market. The leadership of the National Assembly first heard about it through a letter written by the President. This is what happens. “I needed to be here to speak on these issues. It is not just about today. Posterity will be here to judge us that what I am saying is true. If we do not change the way we behave, we will remain like this for many years to come.” Also on how heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are allegedly frustrating the passage of the 2018 budget, the Senate President said that the executive arm should be held responsible. “If you want to strengthen democracy, the priority of everybody should be to strengthen the legislature. If you do not defend the legislature, there is no way our democracy will be strengthened because government is not built on individuals. It is built on institutions. “That is why in developed countries, governments can change, but it does not affect the stability of their democracy because their institutions are strong. We decided to run a presidential system of government. By its nature of checks and balances, there is bound to be frictions. The question now, how healthy is that friction? “If you take the 2018 budget for example, even before people had bothered to find out where the cause of the delay is coming from, people were already attacking and blaming the legislature. “When I led the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly, with the Speaker of the House of Representatives to see Mr. President, he came to the meeting briefed as if the delay was that of the National Assembly. He was humble enough at the end of the discussion to render an apology.” On confirmation of nominees, Saraki said that the executive must realize that the legislature has the constitutional duty to confirm, while nomination lies with the executive. He said that no attempt must be made to weaken the legislature in the interest of sustenance of democracy in the country. The Enugu State Police Command has dispelled reported rape of at least 20 ladies at a musical concert, which featured popstar, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour in the State. The concert , which held at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu on Saturday, ended with news circulating in the media that 20 ladies were raped. According to Daily Post, it was reported that spokesman of the Police in the State, SP Ebere Amaraizu said that neither the State command headquarters nor any of its division had received report from any victim over the reported rape. Amaraizu, who wondered how the news was generated, said mischief could not be ruled out as those behind it must have had the evil intention to cast put terror in the minds of the law abiding members of the public and also paint security operatives, the State Government and the organizers in bad light. “There is no reported case anywhere in the Enugu State Police command. We don’t have any incident arising from that event; whoever that has any should come forward, and we will look at it. “That event was organized by Flavour as a way of giving back to the society, because he grew up here in Enugu. “We won’t want a situation where people sit down somewhere and manufacture stories because he who asserts must also prove. In what appeared a formal endorsement of the reported N520 million statue erected by the Imo state government in honour of South Africa’s President, Jacob Zuma, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has hailed the state governor, Rochas Okorocha for bringing the South African leader to the country. At a meeting of its National Working Committee, NWC with its 24 state governors and principal officers of the National Assembly, APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun said Okorocha’s efforts at attracting foreign investment to the country is highly commendable. “Let me use this opportunity to congratulate you (Rochas) on your birthday…young man, where I was very powerfully represented and for your feat in bringing some of the significant figures from the African continent”, said Odigie-Oyegun in a brief introductory remark before the meeting dissolved into a closed session. Welcoming particiP@nts to the meeting, Chief Odigie-Oyegun thanked God for safely bringing back President Muhammadu Buhari from his medical sojourn in London.. “I welcome you to the sixth of the series of our consultative meetings which has proved to be extremely useful not only in stabilizing the party but also contributing immensely towards handling various challenges that have appeared before us as a nation and as a people. “The meeting got so productive that we decided at last meeting to bring in our National Assembly leaders to joins us in the deliberations which I have said earlier have been found to be very productive and useful indeed. I thank you for coming to this first meeting since the return of our dear President for his medical leave. On your behalf, I want to formally welcome him and thank the Almighty God for the wonderful healing that has been performed because since he came back there has been no question at all”, he stated. Though the Senate President was represented by the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, his counterpart in the House of Representatives, Speaker Yakubu Dogara, was also absent but reportedly represented “by a member from Rivers state”. Out of its 24 governors, only seven as well as four deputy governors were present. Those at the meeting included the Govs. Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Godwin Obaseki (Edo) and Abdullahi Jibrilla Bindo (Adamawa) who was attending the meeting for the first time. Deputy Governors of Ondo, Kano, Kogi and Nasarawa states were also in attendance. Okorocha’s decision has continued to attract a wave of backlash from both Nigerians and South Africans who have described the statue as meaningless. Unable to pay pensioners, some Nigerians had queried the governor’s decision especially as it also came few days after another Nigerian, Jelili Omoyele, a 35-year-old, was killed in South Africa, adding to a long list of Nigerians to have been killed in the former apartheid enclave The governor has however accused the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP of sponsoring the attacks saying the party never attracted any meaningful personality to the state when it held sway. “If it was in the days of PDP, Schools and Markets would have been shut down and roads closed because President Zuma was coming. But none of such thing was done because Rochas and his government have a human face. The PDP for the 12 years they held sway never attracted any meaningful visitor to the State except PDP NEC members who were coming to loot the State. “And in case these “Galatians” do not know, if all we need to do to attract good things or investments to Imo is erecting statues, then, we have no option than to erect as many of such structures as possible. We owe no one apology”, the state government had said. Via: http://www.naijaslog.com/2017/10/apc-applaud-okorocha-over-jacob-zumas.html

Former minister of Petroleum, Tam David-West had said Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu is a minister without portfolio. David-West said this in a recent interview with Punch. He said this in response to Kachikwu’s petition to President Muhammadu Buhari where he accused the Director General of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru of contract fraud. David-West said the minister of state cannot be the boss of the NNPC GMD. “Actually, Buhari should be the chairman of the NNPC board and not Kachikwu, who is a minister without a portfolio in reality. It would be better if we scrapped the ‘minister of state’ which is superfluous and redundant,” he said. “When you say that a minister of state is the boss of the GMD of NNPC, it is wrong. That cannot be. People are making those claims because of misconception. The minister of state in the first republic was a minister without a portfolio. He cannot be a boss of the GMD of an oil industry, who is the livewire of that sector.” David-West, who disclosed that he had vowed not to comment on NNPC again, said he was angry when he read Kachikwu’s petition. “When I first read it (the petition) in the newspaper, I was flabbergasted. It is out of the question completely. I have said I will never comment on NNPC, but it would be irresponsible of me to keep quiet,” he said. “It is dangerous. Despite the fact that I am no longer the oil minister, I know what is happening in the oil industry every day. I am still in touch with the system in Nigeria and even the North Sea Oil, Brent, I get the price every day. “I am interested in the oil industry just like any other Nigerian, for obvious reasons. Oil accounts for 80 percent of the Nigerian budget and 90 per cent of its assets outside. The money we have outside and foreign reserves are mainly from oil. As someone from an oil-producing state, I am interested in what goes on in the industry. Thirdly, I have been there before and I know what is happening there. “I don’t know the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, or the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru, but what is going on is very embarrassing to Nigeria. This has never happened before. Source: http://www.naijaslog.com/2017/10/kachikwu-is-minister-without-portfolio.html

One of the Kardashians sisters, Khloe has revealed she and boyfriend Tristan Thompson now live together . The reality star took to her blog KhloewithaK on Monday to dispense some long distance dating advice that she learnt while her NBAstar partner lived in Cleveland and she resided in Los Angeles. She wrote Nobody says dating long distance is easy—I am so happy Tristan and I live together now! The extra miles can sometimes make many aspects frustrating,' wrote the socialite. However, being long distance also means you get to appreciate one another on a deeper level without the distractions of physical getting in the way.' Do you both want the same things out of life—and, more importantly, the relationship?' 'If the answer is yes, then the sacrifices you're making now will pay off big time in the long run Khloe also dispensed some advice for keeping things spicy in the bedroom: Teasing is good and healthy when you're long distance! Drop little hints about something you want to try in the bedroom next time you see them.' 'It will give you both something to look forward to until you're together again!'
