One person who is not ashamed of her full and curvy figure is married Nollywood actress Ini Edo. Apparently in a reply to some people who want most African celebs to copy the looks of their skinny Hollywood counterparts, the Akwa Ibom born superstar sent out a message assuring her fans that she’s proud to be a curvy African woman. Hear her: “Thank you my darlings for the encouragement. As for my haters I don’t ever want to be skinny. I’ll always be a curvy African woman…deal with it!” We’ll, you’ve heard her. >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

One of the main reasons of failures at that age is due to over indulgence in drugs. It is very important to note that there's no real substitute for being your real self. Now, the world looks shamefully at another man who's made himself an ultimate failure. Big pity!

I'm not really a geek but currently working with some group of programming fanatics to build an app that could allow online business integration and partnerships. Just watch out for that! |
As far as you can read and willing to take your time in research, you can learn about anything you wish...including pic programming. Why not search online journals about and you will find yourself overwhelmed by the information you will get. If you don't know about any journal site, simply google the niche keyword then "+pdf" you will see a lot of them. this is because most journal sites save most of their information in pdf formats. Some days ago, Hotnaijagossip.com exclusively reported a story about crisis rocking Banky W's-led Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) music label. While Banky W was contacted by us to speak on the story, he chose to keep a sealed lip to our enquiry about what a source close to his EME label informed us about an alleged bad blood between him and his prodigy, Wizkid. Now, Wizkid, in what seems to be a suggestive tweet, has hinted that he is now ready to move on with a life without EME. "Don’t take Loyalty for stupidity..don’t!‘, ‘Moving on to start all over again!…F*ck it!. If dey sleep on u..move on," the 23-year-old superstar singer posted on a social media network, Twitter today. Even though Banky W has denied that Wizkid is leaving his label, sources maintained to us that Banky W is only trying to manage the crisis. As it stands, our source said that Wizkid is gone far away from EME. >>>more updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

Two ladies from the Bronx have been caught smuggling six and a half kilos of cocaine hidden in 'diapers' under their pants. Returning to New York's JFK on a JetBlue flight from the Dominican Republic, Priscilla Pena and Michelle Blassingale were relying on the cocaine girdles to give off a natural appearance. However, Customs and Border Protection officers were alerted to the pair who had flown in from Santo Domingo when drug-sniffing dogs started to go wild. Checking their luggage, but finding no trace of drugs, the officers began a pat-down of the two women and discovered the cocaine filled diapers around the ladies hind quarters. >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

Did the condemned leader of the Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo (alias Rev. King) pour petrol on a worshipper Ann Uzoh and set her on fire? This is the question the Court of Appeal, Lagos, will answer on Friday. It will deliver judgment in the appeal filed by the cleric who was sentenced to death by hanging over six years ago. He is urging the court to quash the sentence passed on him by a Lagos State High Court, Ikeja. Ezeugo’s lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, told The Nation on Thursday that he had been served with a notice of the judgment by the court’s officials. He said: “It has been confirmed. The case of Reverend King is for judgment on Friday. “I have been served with the hearing notice.” At the hearing last November 5, Ezeugo urged the court to allow his appeal. He said the trial judge Justice Joseph Oyewole erred in several respects and “miscarried” justice. Ojo adopted the appellant’s brief that day. The respondent, Lagos State Government, represented by Solicitor-General Lawal Pedro (SAN), also adopted its brief. Ezeugo was convicted and sentenced to death on January 11, 2007, for the alleged murder of a church member, Uzoh. He was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder. The prosecution said he poured petrol on the deceased and five other persons. Uzoh died on August 2, 2006, 11 days after the incident. Ojo filed a notice of appeal on January 16, 2007, containing 16 grounds of appeal against the judgment. On June 10, 2008, the Appeal Court granted him leave to argue an additional 16 grounds of appeal through an amended notice of appeal filed on June 15, 2008. Ojo said Ezeugo did not commit the crime because he was not present at the scene. He said Uzoh had, in two statements before her death, said she got burnt in a generator accident and that the cleric was not responsible for her injuries. Ojo said the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) tendered statements which stated that Ezeugo was not responsible for the burns which led to Uzoh’s death, but they were not admitted in evidence. The lawyer said had those “vital exhibits” been admitted by the judge, “they would have cast doubts on the case of the prosecution.” >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

Consumer spending is set to receive a boost from the positive wealth effect of equities rising last week to the highest point since 2007. The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) added 2.5 percent Friday to close at 31,446.22 points, sending the market capitalisation of stocks in the All Share Index (ASI) to N10.1 trillion ($63 billion), its highest since year end (YE) 2007, as companies from Transcorp to Julius Berger posted gains. The ASI market capitalisation of $63 billion is equivalent to 23 percent of Nigeria’s YE 2012 Gross Domestic Product (GDP). “Our expectation of a stronger equity market in 2013 and 2014, which is indicative of wealth, is positive for consumer spending,” said Yvonne Mhango, an economist for sub-Saharan Africa at Renaissance Capital, in a note released last week. “Although, retail investors in Nigeria’s equity market have dropped to 3-5 percent, from 15 percent pre-local banking crisis, the stock index is still significantly linked to consumer spending, according to our model,” Mhango said. Stocks extended their 2013 advance to 12 percent, as bullish investors dominated the trade log. The naira strengthened to N157.2 versus the dollar on the inter-bank as foreign investors brought dollars into the country to buy Nigerian debt, helping to depress yields, which is positive for equities, say analysts. The Debt Management Office (DMO) sold N110 billion in bonds on January 23, with yields on January 2022 notes declining to a record low of 11.34 percent. Transnational Corp. of Nigeria Plc which invests in hotels, agriculture and energy gained 6.7 percent to N1.11 on Friday- the most in almost six years- as investors bet the government will soon hand over a power plant the company won in a bid. Julius Berger jumped 9.99 percent to close at N51.52 per share, bringing its year to date gains to a whopping 48.69 percent. Analysts say consumer spending was undermined in 2012 by the partial removal of fuel subsidy, high interest rates, elevated inflation and a growth slowdown in sectors such as agriculture that employs the majority of the workforce. Private final consumption expenditure amounted to 59 percent of GDP in 2012, down from 61 percent in 2011 and 71 percent in 2009, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Upside pressure on inflation or naira weakness may however compel the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to maintain a high-interest-rate environment, which may dampen consumption. Inflation which eased to 12 percent for December 2012, from 12.3 percent in the previous month, will be slower in 2013 compared with last year and may be close to 10 percent in January, CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, said in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

The official UEFA Champions League final match ball has been unveiled, with adidas creating a design celebrating the six past European Cup showpieces held at Wembley. From AC Milan in 1963 to FC Barcelona two years ago, all the previous European Cup showpieces held at Wembley are celebrated in the 2013 UEFA Champions League final match ball unveiled on Wednesday. The visual appearance of the ball reflects the six finals played at the 'Home of Football', with the relevant years incorporated into the star panel design – an iconic feature of adidas's official match balls for the competition. The graphics and colour scheme combine to emphasise the grandeur of the occasion, which will be watched on 25 May by a near 90,000-strong crowd at the stadium and millions more around the world. This season's will be the 20th official match ball adidas has produced for the UEFA Champions League. The adidas Finale Wembley, which features an outer coating texture designed to provide optimal grip at the point of impact, will be used on the pitch from the round of 16 onwards. "The ball is bold, iconic and almost regal in appearance which, for us, brilliantly reflects the UEFA Champions League values and the fact that this year's final will be held in London," said Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Events SA marketing director. "This season will see the ball used on-pitch for all knockout stage matches along the road to Wembley, where the Kings of Europe will be crowned on what promises to be another historic night of European club football." >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

Nairobi — An international agricultural research programme has unveiled plans to collaborate with the African Union to drive agricultural research and boost productivity on the continent. In a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this month (15 January), the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers (CGIAR Consortium) set out its agreement with the African Union Commission (AUC) to work towards aligning research agendas to help create a food secure future for Africa. The collaboration will support the efforts of African research institutes at the country, sub-regional and continental level to realise science-based agricultural transformations and advance science and technology agendas, says Piers Bocock, director of knowledge management and communications at the CGIAR Consortium. "In addition to developing capacity and sharing knowledge, the memorandum will facilitate the sharing of existing scientific and technological breakthroughs," Bocock tells SciDev.Net. The CGIAR Consortium is a global partnership that brings together 15 of the world's leading agriculture research centres and that also leads 16 comprehensive global agricultural research programmes addressing food security. The consortium will work to improve its coordination with governmental agricultural strategies and the AUC's Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), which aims to boost African agriculture by addressing policy and capacity issues in the sector. "By understanding the priorities of African governments, we can ensure that our research is focused on the most pressing agricultural challenges in Africa," Bocock says. Abebe Haile Gabriel, the AUC's director of rural economy and agriculture, says the memorandum "calls for joint actions to guide the implementation of programmes and support activities for the CAADP," while noting that the agreement does not include any financial exchange. But collaborations such as this also raise a number of potentially challenging issues, says Maurice Bolo, director of the Scinnovent Centre, a Nairobi-based research and training organisation focused on science and innovation. >>>more updates @ www.Naijavlog.com |

Mario Balotelli is poised to fly to Italy as early as Monday evening ahead of a proposed medical as Manchester City and AC Milan moved to conclude negotiations over a transfer for the striker, Goal.com reports. The 22-year-old said his goodbyes to team-mates and club staff after completing training at Carrington on Monday morning, and could travel to Milan over the next 24 hours. Super agent Mino Raiola was in Milan last week in an attempt to resolve the Italy international’s future and Rossoneri Vice-president Adriano Galliani suggested on Sunday evening that there had been new developments in the saga. On Wednesday, Goal.com revealed that City owners had lowered their asking price to €23m having dismissed Milan’s proposal of €29m to be paid over six years, preferring a lesser fee spread over a shorter period of time. The Premier League champions had also demanding a 15 per cent sell-on clause as an agreement with Milan appears increasingly likely before the transfer window closes on Thursday night. AC Milan, according to reports, is willing to sell defender Philippe Mexes in order to free up around €4.5m-a-year on their wage bill and fund a move for Balotelli, with the Italian international willing to take a wage cut on his current €129,000-a-week salary. The former Inter Milan star has scored only one league goal for City this season and his relationship with manager Roberto Mancini took another turn for the worse after a training ground bust-up earlier this month. >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

The recent statements by Mrs. Obiageli Ezekwesili at UNN’s convocation ceremony on January 24, 2013, betray a surprisingly limited understanding of government finances. These statements are even more curious in light of the fact that she has held senior positions in government, and more recently, a position as a Vice President of the World Bank. However, rather than speculate about her motives, we would focus on the facts. The statement by the former World Bank Vice President that the governments of Presidents Musa Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan have squandered $67 billion in reserves (including $45 billion in external reserves and $22 billion in the Excess Crude Account) left by the Obasanjo Administration at the end of May 2007 is factually incorrect. At the end of May 2007, Nigeria’s gross reserves stood at $43.13 billion - comprising the CBN’s external reserves of $31.5 billion, $9.43 billion in the Excess Crude Account, and $2.18 billion in the Federal Government’s savings. These figures can be independently verified from the CBN’s records. , The figure of $67 billion alleged in her statement is therefore clearly fictitious. However, since President Obasanjo left office, the reserves have experienced fluctuations, rising from $43.13 billion in May 2007, peaking at $62 billion in September 2008 during the Yar’adua/Jonathan Administration when oil prices peaked at $147 per barrel, and falling subsequently to a low of $31.7 in September 2011. This fall in reserves was a result of the vicissitudes of the global financial crisis which caused CBN interventions in the currency market to defend the value of the naira. The Excess Crude savings, a component of the reserves, was also used to stimulate the economy at the height of the global financial crisis to the tune of about $1 billion (or 0.5 percent of our 2009 GDP). As a result, Nigeria is one of the few countries in the world that did not seek assistance from international financial institutions. It should be noted that the fiscal stimulus used to shore up the economy during that period was shared by all 3-tiers of government, including commitments of about $5.5 billion made under the Obasanjo Administration for power projects. On the use of reserves, it is fallacious to say that the nation’s external reserves were dipped into or misapplied by the Federal Government. It is important to note that the Federal Government cannot dip its hands into external reserves. Like in other countries, the management of external reserves is one of the statutory mandates of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Section 2 sub-section (c) of the CBN Act (2007) states that the Bank shall “maintain external reserves to safeguard the international value of the legal tender currency” – in other words, to defend the value of the Naira. No President since the democratic dispensation has contravened this Act. Other uses of the reserves are to settle both public and private sector foreign currency obligations of Nigeria, including the importation of goods such as equipment for power sector. Whenever a ministry or agency of government needs to incur approved expenditure in foreign currency (e.g. payment of goods and services, settlement of external debt, etc) it must provide the naira equivalent to the CBN before the Bank sells the required foreign currency. As a former World Bank Vice-President for Africa, surely, Mrs. Ezekwesili must have known this. We also found Mrs. Ezekwesili's interrogation of the educational system somewhat disingenuous and borderline hypocritical. During her tenure as Minister of Education between 2006 and 2007, she collected a total sum of N352.3 billion from direct budgetary releases. In addition, she received about N65.8 billion under the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Fund, and over N40 billion from the Education Trust Fund (ETF) during her time as Minister of Education. In view of these humongous allocations, a few legitimate questions arise. What did she do with all these allocations? What impact did it have on the education sector? One wonders if our educational system would have been better today if these allocations were properly applied. No one disputes that Nigeria still faces challenges, most of which were built up over a long time. But we need to acknowledge the significant achievements of this administration in the aftermath of difficult but necessary macroeconomic and structural reforms being implemented in the country. This administration has restored macroeconomic stability against the backdrop of global economic uncertainty, slow growth in the United States and high unemployment and unsustainable debt in Europe. In the first 3 quarters of 2012, Nigeria’s economy grew by about 6.4 percent and is set to continue at a similar pace in 2013 according to independent forecasts. We have reduced our fiscal deficit to only 2.17 percent of GDP in the 2013 budget, while rebalancing our spending in favour of capital expenditure. These achievements have already received strong endorsement from international ratings agencies. At a time when many advanced and emerging markets are being downgraded, Fitch and S&P have upgraded our sovereign credit ratings. The inclusion of Nigeria’s sovereign bonds in the emerging market bond indices of JP Morgan and Barclays also testifies to the growing confidence of the international investment community in our economy. We have also focused our attention on removing the bureaucratic and structural bottlenecks in the economy to enable the private sector create more jobs for our youths. In the power sector, most Nigerians will attest to improvements in power supply even as the 10 new power plants being built by this Administration are yet to fully come on stream. There have also been improvements in rail services; for example, the Lagos—Kano rail line is now fully operational and serving Nigerians for the first time in over 20 years. There have been significant improvements in road development; aviation – in particular refurbished terminals; and agriculture, where new jobs are being created every day. Serious work is ongoing to improve our ports and lower the cost of doing business and the cost of consumption in Nigeria. The government has further launched a number of initiatives targeted at creating jobs for our youth, including support for entrepreneurship through the YouWin Programme; work for the unskilled through the Community Services programme of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme; and support for unemployed graduates through the Graduate Internship Programme. This administration is squarely focused on promoting a stable, non-inflationary, and inclusive economic environment for Nigeria to ensure that Nigerians can live better and more fulfilled lives. >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com |
Tragedy occurred in Isanlu-Isin Kwara State on Friday, when a middle-aged man, Taye Ibiwoye, allegedly clubbed his mother to death with an axe. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the deceased, identified as Sarah Ibiwoye, who was said to be in her late 60s, died instantly from the attack which shattered her skull. The community was further thrown into mourning when another elderly woman, simply identified as ‘Iya Eleja’ slumped and died, when the news of Sarah’s death was broken to her. It was learnt that the accused was mentally sick and had been receiving treatment for some time. Some sources who preferred anonymity, said Ibiwoye had told the police, who had come to arrest him from Oke-Onigbin Police Station, that his mother was behind his travails. He was also said to have told the policemen that while his brothers were living comfortably, he was rotting away in abject poverty because of his mother’s action. A relation to Iya Eleja, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the woman was hale and hearty before the incident. “We have just come back from Omu-Aran, where we went to buy the woman’s coffin. There was nothing wrong with Iya Eleja; she was hale and hearty before the news was broken to her. Immediately the news of the incident was narrated to her, she slumped and died,” the source said. The Divisional Police Officer of the police station, Olutekunbi Ekundayo, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, told NAN that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department headquarters in Ilorin for investigation. He said, “There is not much we can do here as far as this case is concerned, particularly as regards the issue of the accused person’s state of health. “Though it was a case of a culpable homicide, but as you can see, I am preparing the file for the transfer of the case to the state CID for appropriate investigation.” >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com

More than 150 people died early Sunday when a fire tore through a nightclub in the southern Brazilian city of Santa Maria during a boisterous student party, police said. “We have confirmed more than 150 victims,” Santa Maria police commissioner Sandro Meinerz told Globo television. The death toll from the inferno stood initially at 70 but rapidly increased as firefighters searched the charred remains of the establishment named “Kiss.” Details of the tragedy were still sketchy. But according to media reports, the fire broke out after 2:00 am (0400 GMT) when the nightclub was hosting a university party featuring a rock band. The band used pyrotechnics as part of its show, O Globo newspaper reported on its website. The paper said the popular club in the university town was packed with between 300 and 400 party goers when the fire erupted. Santa Maria fire chief Guido de Melo said there was panic in the aftermath of the fire and many revelers were trampled or died from smoke inhalation. “The main cause of death was asphyxiation,” de Melo was quoted as saying by Estadao newspaper. Pictures published by local media showed firefighters dousing the burned-out red brick building with water to put out the flames. “We have just taken the fire under control,” Colonel Silvia Fuchs of the local fire department was quoted by the G1 website as saying. “Now we are removing the bodies.” According to O Globo, the dead were being taken to a nearby sports club, which has been converted to a makeshift morgue. Family member were gathering outside in the hope of getting news of their loved ones. Rio Grande do Sul governor Tarso Genro was expected in Santa Maria later Sunday, O Globo said. “This is a sad Sunday,” he is quoted by the paper as saying in a Twitter message. “We are taking all possible passive and active measures.” He did not elaborate. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who is attending a regional summit in Chile, has been notified of the tragedy, O Globo said. The town is home to the Federal University of Santa Maria. >>>More updates @ www.Naijavlog.com
