The workers of National union of electricity employees have shut down the headquarters of the Ikeja electricity Distribution company (IKEDC) at Alausa in protest against maltreatment and unlawful sack of staff.


The chairman of the United labour congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who led the protest gave a speech at the scene that the effort by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Lagos State Government to settle the rift between the union and IKEDC, was frustrated by the management of IKEDC as it pulled out and disbanded the negotiation.
