Politics / Femi Adesina: Buhari Will Tackle All Our Challenges Before Leaving Office by nairavsdollars(f): 6:09am
The Presidency on Tuesday assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari will effectively tackle security and economic challenges before leaving office in May 2023.

It also said despite security and economic challenges, great things are happening in the country, especially in the area of infrastructural developments.

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity who featured as a guest on Channels Television ‘Politics Today monitored by DAILY INDEPENDENT said it is wrong for some Nigerians to make a sweeping statement that things are not working in the country at the moment. He said the challenges in the country are not peculiar to Nigeria alone but a global issue.

“When you say things are not in the best of shape, you are making a sweeping statement but that may not be right. There are challenges in certain areas. In security, economy there are challenges but that does not mean that some good things are not happening in the country”.

“I just spoke with you about infrastructure and things that will be commissioned in the first quarter of next year particularly. Are those not good things? There are challenges in the country and those challenges are being tackled”.

“Be rest assured that those challenges will be decisively tackled in the life of this administration. It will be wrong for anybody to just come out and say things are not right in the country. No! There are challenges just as many other countries of the world have challenges. But are there good things happening in Nigeria? I can bet you, great things are happening in this country”.

Also speaking on President Buhari’s trip to the United Kingdom (UK) for an education summit, Adesina said the meeting was called by the British government.

“I understand that the meeting is at the instance of the British. I may not have an idea of what the agenda will be. Of course , the president will have talking points already prepared for him but the meeting was at the instance of the British”.

Obasanjo sold most of the National assets to his friends and like the Senator said he didn't touch Lagos Ibadan expressway

DuwaRepublic:
Buhari has been the best in infrastructure I’ll give him that. But Obasanjo was better in everything else which is not saying much but at least during obasanjo’s time unemployment rate was as low as 11.9% now under Buhari it is a whopping 32.5%. The youth unemployment rate is currently 54%. That’s insane! I haven’t even touched on insecurity and all the insurgencies happening under his watch. So no, he can’t be the best. Obasanjo’s privatisation of failing public organisations saved Nigeria at the time, making the market competitive and it created jobs!

Politics / Buhari Remains The Best President Nigeria Has Ever Had – Senator Adefuye by nairavsdollars(f): 10:38pm On Jul 26
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Senator Anthony Adefuye, a Third Republic senator and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday said that President Muhammadu Buhari is the best president in the history of Nigeria no matter the negative thing some Nigerians are saying about him.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Adefuye also lambasted those saying former President Olusegun Obasanjo performed better than other Nigerian leaders, saying Obasanjo did almost nothing during his tenure from 1999 to 2007, especially in the South-West region.

According to him, Buhari is the one fixing most of the things that Obasanjo left untouched during his eight years reign.

Adefuye who also accused Obasanjo of selling national assets to private individuals also listed the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, railways and airlines as some of the things that Obasanjo never fixed which President Buhari has now turned around.

“President Buhari is someone I know who has been a military president before and now he is a democratic president. He wants to show the world that he is truly democratic. We all should give it to him. Let me tell you one thing, President Buhari is the best president Nigeria has ever had. No matter what people say about him, he still remains the best in the history of this country”.

“Some people are saying (Olusegun) Obasanjo. Which Obasanjo? Obasanjo , Obasanjo nii. When Obasanjo was president, the price of crude oil was $140 per barrel, he did not build a single rail in the South-West. So, what are they talking about? He didn’t do anything in the South-West. He didn’t even build the road that leads to Ota”.

“He seized the allocation of Lagos for almost two years. Even the Lagos-Ibadan expressway he didn’t do anything about it. It is Buhari that is ensuring that the road is rehabilitated now. It is Buhari that is building the Second Niger Bridge. It is Buhari that is building rail lines and bringing our airlines back”.

“All these were killed during Obasanjo’s regime. During Obasanjo’s regime, we sold all the national assets to individuals. So, what are these people mentioning Obasanjo’s name talking about? Buhari is one man who has spent Nigeria’s money for Nigeria”.
