the whole of Nigeria sgr projects contract for the 2, 733km (now 3053km )new Lagos - Kano rail was first awarded by former Presidential Olusegun Obasanjo in 2006 at a cost of $8. 3bn to the Chinese company ( CCECC ) but could not be executed due to paucity of funds. but now going on and now $11.1billions with addition extension of calabar section and port Harcourt...kenya is damn doomed my friends , please stop comparing stations with actual construction any body can build such ,all u need is good architects and builder

These two photos below are enough justification for the higher cost of Kenyan SGR. A twelve year kid can see this.....very obvious.

fool, nigeria got that with only $860millions while Kenya got theirs with whopping $3.9 billions ,abuja-kaduna line is 200km while Nairobi-Mombasa line is just 400km do the calculation your self ...even Ethiopian rail was far cheaper and better The $3.4 billion project was built by two Chinese companies and is the first to be electrified in Africa.
Compare that to phase 1 of Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway. Its cost stands at Sh367 billion(3., almost the same as the Ethiopian line, but more than 100 km shorter.
That begs the questions: Has Ethiopia built an inferior line or is Kenya not getting value for money or is our money being stolen?

$860M for an SGR. Cheap infrastructure. No wonder your stations look like Barrack Dormitories and all your infrastructure look cheap. Compare Lagos infrastructure to Nairobi's - Lagos looks so cheap.

Gwarimpa is chaotic with a grocery store at every front porch and bar at the back. Check out Nyayo Housing Estate in Nairobi. Black owned, black residents, well maintained and probably the cleanest housing estate in Africa.

this is a report from IMF. Where's the report and when is it dated? It's hilarious because Kenya crossed the lower middle income in 2014. That means Kenya's GDP per capita crossed the $1500 mark in 2014.

1. Kenya's GDP nominal was $69B in 2016, how can it be $65B now yet we've had a positive growth? Kenya's GDP is projected to be $75 billion this year.

2. Ghana's GDP is not $70 billion. You had a -ve growth in 2014 and 2015 dropping from your highest ever GDP of $47B in 2013 to $37B in 2015. Ghana is projected to hit $42B in 2017.

Ghana's GDP has never been higher than Kenya's mate. Your GDP per capita has been slightly above Kenya's but Kenya recently beat you........and what revenue are you talking about? Be specific. I agree though - your HDI is above ours - mainly due to the vast arid lands in Kenya.

GDP of Ghana is not more than that of Kenya. It's GDP per capita that has Ghana slightly ahead in that aspect. Ghana is 27million(dunno if the so called 5million Nigerians are included) to Kenya's 45, million.

Actually 2017 projections place Kenya's GDP per capita ahead of Ghana's.......

I have posted pics and educated people about my country and I've learnt a lot about other countries too.
