What guys here are trying to tell you is,there is no scanning ditection for a faulty thermostat as a thermostat has no electrical connection, its just mechanical.
you can test your thermostat outside the car
Simple put it on cold water leave for 5 mins,at this point its meant to be locked.then put it inside a pot and boil it, when the water reaches 10 deg boiling it will open, you can actually see it open,I have done this B4.
Your water pump can cause overheating.
You might need bleeding, cos trapped air in the cooling system can cause overheating.
PS:DO NOT REMOVE BUT REPLACE YOUR THERMOSTAT.
