onojaintegrity:
The Honourable Minister for Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has reaffirmed her commitment to safeguarding and advancing the rights and welfare of Nigerian women, including the pursuit of justice when these rights are violated.

The Honourable Minister wishes to emphasize her unwavering dedication to upholding due diligence and the rule of law, recognizing that justice and fairness are the fundamental principles upon which equitable societies are built.

This declaration comes in response to recent public discussions and reactions by concerned Nigerians regarding the unfolding situation at the University of Calabar, involving the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof Cyril Ndifon, and sexual harassment allegations levelled against him.

In her own words, Barr. Uju stated: "I wish to express my sincere apologies to those who were offended by my comments and actions regarding the sexual harassment scandal at the University of Calabar. This is extremely regrettable as my intentions were sincere and aligned with my consistent advocacy for the welfare of Nigerian women and the pursuit of justice. I stand for all Nigerian women and I stand for justice; and it is my hope that we can work together to actualize the dream of a country where women’s rights are respected and protected, and where our daughters feel safe in institutions of learning.”

It is worth recalling that during a recent appearance on AIT, the Honourable Minister was unequivocal in her condemnation of sexual harassment and related offences. She also expressed deep concern over the escalating cases of sexual harassment across campuses and emphasized the need for decisive action, assuring that her Ministry would actively seek justice for those affected.

Politics / Avoid Fake News: Watch Video Of Kogi Speaker Jokingly Endorsing Ebira Candidate by nanaoyiza: 9:18am On Sep 22, 2022
https://www.facebook.com/ebirareporters/videos/485223343614479/?mibextid=B1gh992VbRa9848j

Findings by our reporter have shown that a report circulating that the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawole, was booed in the state government's house for allegedly suggesting that Kogi Central deserves to keep the governorship after Yahaya Bello is false.

At around 9 p.m. Wednesday, our reporter called some Assembly Members who do not want their names mentioned, and it was confirmed that no such incident occurred. A few senior aides to the governor also confirmed to our reporter that the news is completely false.

It was learnt in a video watched by the reporter that the Speaker only jocularly talked about Ebiras taking over from governor Bello and was never booed in the house.

Though there has been cold wrangling over who should be the next governor of the state since the Igalas governed for nearly 21 years and Ebiras only two terms, with Okun serving only a few months in an acting capacity.

Top government officials' body language suggests that power may remain in the hands of the Ebiras for equality and political balance. It is also believed that the governor has prepared capable hands in the government to take over from him in 2024.

A top government official, responding to the cold agitation over who should be the next governor, stated that it is unfair for the Igalas to continue after governing for many years. He advocated for the next governor to come from Ebira land or Okun in Kogi West. He also revealed that the Speaker of the house is revered and cannot be booed in the government building. According to him, the Speaker has the support of the majority of House members and has thus been able to defeat all previous attempts to depose him.

Another high-ranking government official stated that tribe is not as important as competence, and that the state has expanded beyond tribal agendas. He stated that whoever succeeds Bello will be capable, regardless of tribe.

Analysts believe that the Ebiras or Okun have reasons to continue from Yahaya Bello because the Igalas have already governed the state for 21 years beginning from late Prince Audu Abubakar to Ibrahim Idris and then Idris Wada. They claimed that in a state with diverse ethnicities, power should not be concentrated in the hands of a single tribe for an extended period of time.

An Igala political group also said that it's fine with whoever the governor endorsed as his successor.

Okene currently has the most registered voters, with Dekina local government in the Igala zone coming in second.

Politics / Yahaya Bello's Chief Of Staff, Asuku Trains Youths, Empowers New Graduates by nanaoyiza: 7:32pm On Sep 13, 2022
Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku, Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, has once again put a smile on the faces of the state's youths through his charity organization, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Youth Empowerment Forum (PAAYEF).

Asuku, through his PAAYEF, held a graduation ceremony for the graduates of the foundation's fashion institute on Tuesday in Lokoja, where the beneficiaries of the foundation were gifted with a business start-up seed of N100,000 (Hundred Thousands Each) and a modern sewing machine each after being trained for free.

Previously, the young medic held a school competition program that empowered students from the state's three Senatorial zones. This is in addition to his extensive charitable work, which includes the payment of medical bills and the provision of scholarships for youngsters across different tribes and religions.

Governor Bello who chaired the occasion stated that he is proud of his Chief of Staff, noting that the pharmacist is upholding the good works of the government and the governor's legacies.

The governor announced a sum of N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousands Naira) for each beneficiary to enable them to return to their local government areas and replicate the empowerment.

Pharm. Asuku, earlier, said that, following governor Yahaya Bello's New Direction drive, he was inspired to start free entrepreneurship training for youths across the state.

The philanthropic gesture of the country's youngest chief of staff is expected to drastically reduce unemployment and improve people's standard of living, as the recipients are expected to go and expand their businesses in their various local governments, fend for their families, and employ more people around them.

Top government officials, including the Secretary General of the Staff, Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike, and others, attended the event, which took place at the Glass House, Government House.

Meanwhile, several groups have urged the Chief of Staff to declare his intention to run in the 2023 governorship election to succeed his boss.
