Politics › Re: Northern And Muslim Members Of The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council. by naptu2(op): 5:04am On Nov 29, 2022
I shouldn't have to restate this (because it's so simple that a primary school child will easily understand it), but I will just for the heck of it.

The premise of the previous thread was that northerners and Muslims were excluded from important and strategic positions. However, the creator of that thread only posted a few southerners and Christians that were in important and strategic positions. He did not publish the name of a single northerner or Muslim in an important and strategic position.

Therefore, to balance things, I have published names of northerners in important and strategic positions (the chairman, spokesman, director of finance, deputy campaign manager, secretary of advisory council, etc).

Some people, because they cannot counter what's in the thread, have decided to shift the goalpost by writing about the number of northerners and Muslims in the campaign council. (One of them said that they were less than 15, can you imagine that?) That's not what this thread is about.

However, if they are interested in counting the number of northerners and Muslims (I am certainly not going to do that), then it should be easy for them because I provided a link to lists that have all the members. Be aware that the first list has 29 pages and 1,458 entries and that it is not the only list on the site.

I'll post the link again. I wish you happy hunting. https://labourparty.com.ng/presidential-campaign-supplementary-list/
Politics › Re: Fela Kuti's Family Reacts As APC Uses Fela's Songs For Their Campaign by naptu2: 4:05am On Nov 29, 2022
Another one for my collection.

naptu2:
It seems like this is going to be an issue in every country very soon.

Politicians are using songs to motivate their members at their conventions and rallies and the musicians, who often oppose the politicians, are not finding it funny.

In the 2000s the PDP used an artiste's song (I think it was D'Banj's Tongolo, I can't remember for sure) and the artiste confirmed that he didn't give them permission to use the song. However, on that occasion, the artiste didn't make a big deal of it.

Ahead of the 2020 United States presidential election, Donald Trump used the song, YMCA, by the Village People at his campaign rallies. If you know the Village People and you know Donald Trump, you would know that there would be a big problem. Sure enough, the Village People issued a cease and desist notice to President Trump (he actually used the song one more time after the notice was issued).

The APC played Timi Dakolo's song, Great Nation, at its 2022 National Convention and presidential primaries. The singer was livid that they played his song without permission.

The Conservative Party played M People's song, Moving On Up, when Prime Minister Liz Truss took the stage at their party conference recently. The band was very angry that the Tories used the song, but they also expressed frustration that they can't do anything about it (I'm not sure, but I think the right to the song now belongs to the record company).

And now this.
