Politics › "Peter Odili Had Graduated Before I Got Into CKC" - Peter Obi. by naptu2(op): 3:55pm On Nov 19, 2022 |
Peter Obi @PeterObi My remarks when I visited Port Harcourt have been wrongly interpreted by some people. The former Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili and I, are among other prominent Nigerians that schooled in Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha, and we remain alumni of the school.
I did not say that former Governor Odili was my classmate, rather I said that he was a great footballer in my school, and we all cherished and had good memories of his football exploits when we got into the school.
I was in CKC from 1973 to 1978 and Dr Peter Odili had graduated before I got into the school. He was such a fabulous footballer whose image still loomed large even in our time, especially considering the fact that my Primary School was very close to CKC.
The Primary School that I attended, Santa Maria School/Holy Trinity School, were both owned by the same Catholic Church that owned Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha. In fact, both Primary Schools were feeder schools to CKC, and a large number of pupils who passed through the schools ended up in CKC for secondary education. - PO

hush15: Exactly, but what you could have done better to balance you findings is to search all truths to conclude your findings before making the post. You can't single out an extract without conclusion. It's biased reporting when you do that.
What you just added in this particular comment, did you include it to your reporting knowing it is very possible which we know it is... I have participated in school events to especially in crickets and football in my time and I know that I have seniors who were heros and celebs of the school who come to represent the school even post waec. What the hell are you talking about? I wrote that I previously thought that Peter Odili might have come back to do his HSC in the 1970s, but I had no evidence of that, so I was going in search of evidence. I found evidence that he did not come back to do his HSC in the 1970s (Did you read what I posted in the first post before you made this post?) If you had read the first post you would have seen that Dr Odili did his pre-medical year at UNN in 1970. He did his first year in 1971. So he could not have come back to CKC for his HSC. Peter Obi has just confirmed that too (see screenshots below) so what are you talking about? Are you actually reasoning through the statements or are you posting just because you want to defend (without knowing what you are defending)?

obynzo: As a mod you a big liar. Do you guys really understand English tenses? In your bid to deceive people and spread disinformation to twist the truth you just showed that you cannot hold a discussion at a cerebral level of intellect. I watched that video and Peter Obi never said he played ball with Odili. He stated that he went to CKC like Odili and that Odili when he played ball they were sure to win. He never said he played ball with Odili. Where is your honor? After you would claim to be religious but you do shit that even an atheist will not do. What sort of crap is this?? 1) I am not a mod! What possessed you to say that I am a mod? 2) Can you show me where I stated that Peter Obi said that he played football with Peter Odili?? I am waiting. You should seek help if you have problems comprehending simple posts. 3) Aren't you the one who is lying? Weren't you the one that made the post below? Did Peter Obi meet Dr Peter Odili at CKC? obynzo: Try and apply reason when you talk. Peter Odili has to sop schooling in 1967 because of the civil war he came back after the war and wrote his Higher school certificate exams in 1972 which definitely he met Peter Obi there in CKC as a junior boy. |

You see, it's this kind of lie, not even what Peter Obi said, that made me search for the truth. All of you that are propagating this lie, how do you feel now that Peter Obi has said that Peter Odili graduated before he got into the school?

Some people had criticised Peter Obi for not visiting Beatrice Itubo when he was in Rivers State.

Politics › Peter Obi Apologises To Beatrice Itubo by naptu2(op): 9:05am On Nov 19, 2022 |
Peter Obi @PeterObi My sincere apologies to Mrs Beatrice Itubo, the Labour Party candidate in Rivers State for an inadvertent oversight. When I visited Port Harcourt a few days back, I was not informed or aware of her sickness.
On arrival in PH, I was welcomed by the Labour Party Presidential State Coordinator in Rivers State and other Party stakeholders. We had a useful meeting and I explained to them the purpose of my visit, which was to respectfully honour an invitation by the Rivers State Government and that I will return for our party's rally and other LP engagements soon. No one mentioned that our candidate was sick, otherwise I would have visited her before or after the event. I had committed to passing through the campaign office no matter how late,
and that I did at about 6.30pm. My dear sister, I sincerely wish you a very quick recovery and reassure you of our good working relationship. May God Almighty bless you always. -PO https://twitter.com/PeterObi/status/1593874401883193344

This is a lot of fun. I'm enjoying the replies.
I don't have time for those who choose to insult, I simply enjoy my game of handing them over to the mods to ban.
However, I am still waiting for my special guest (the reason I created this thread). |

hush15: Naptu, Myndd....
Una dey disappoint sha. You went to pick someone's biography just to fact check Peter Obi but came up with nothing. Instead of biography, why not book an interview with the man cos he is still alive, to fact check also...
Whether you fact check Peter Obi from now till eternity, He will and must be President, not for anything but a better Nigeria. You all afraid because it will not be business as usual but God pass una. We are praying and we will vote too. See uou at the polls 1) I couldn't give a shit whether Peter Obi is president or not. 2) This was my post yesterday. naptu2: Ladies and gentlemen, here's my theory.
There has been some confusion over something that Peter Obi said yesterday. He said that Dr Peter Odili was his senior at Christ The King College and he explained that Odili was very good at football and that he motivated their football team.
Critics have pointed out that Peter Odili left Christ The King College in 1967 (Blerf, the famous biography site, says that he left in 1966) and that Peter Obi was born in 1961. This means that Peter Obi would have been 5 or 6 years old when Dr Odili left secondary school. They also point out that Peter Obi left Christ The King College in 1978, which means that he would have been in form 1 in 1974. Therefore, they concluded that Peter Obi lied. (Check this out: https://www.nairaland.com/7438416/odili-left-ckc-when-obi).
However, I have not made such a conclusion. There isn't enough information to conclude that Peter Obi lied. In fact, he could have been telling the truth. How come?
(I have searched for my old posts, but I can't find them, so I might as well tell the story again).
I suspect that the reason that some immediately believed that what Peter Obi said is impossible is because they are used to the way that the Nigerian educational system has been since 1985. They are not aware of what the situation was before 1985.
Before 1985, Nigerian children spent 5 years in secondary school (form 1 to form 5), then they wrote the West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE), which was an Ordinary Level (O-Level) examination. Three credits from the WASCE could get you into university.
However, there was also the Advanced Level (A-Level) examination. You could spend an extra 2 years in secondary school (lower 6 and upper 6) and write an exam for the WASCE Advanced Level Certificate. Some people did the A-levels because it gave you direct entry into year 2 of university programmes, some did it because they wanted to gain admission into British institutions and some did it because they could not make the required O-level grades. The A-level classes were called HSC (higher school certificate).
O-level classes were contiguous, that is, you did form 1 and then you did form 2 immediately afterwards. That's how it went all the way to form 5. However, there could be a 3 or more year gap between form 5 and lower 6. This means that many people returned to secondary school many years after finishing form 5.
Football
This was a huge problem in football. There was a famous secondary school football competition known as the Principals Cup. It was broadcast live on radio and it was very prestigious. Some schools did everything that they could to win this competition. Some schools recruited people who had been stars in the competition many years ago and used the excuse that they were in upper or lower 6 to register them for the competition. This meant that you could even see who were over 20 years old playing in the competition.
Odili
This is what reminded me of the HSC. I immediately thought of HSC when they said that Dr Odili played football. CKC played some epic football matches against certain schools in Lagos back in the day (in fact, one of those matches led to the creation of the Nigerian National Team).
So, did Dr Odili go back to CKC for his HSC? I have been searching since yesterday, but I have not yet found any concrete proof of this. I'm going to keep searching. But someone drew my attention to Dr Odili's autobiography and I made a post and then a thread out of my findings (as is my right). 3) If you want an interview with Dr Odili, why don't you interview him? God blessed you with hands and a brain with which to interview him, so why wait for me? You can't be waiting for me to do that for you when you can do it by yourself. |
