National honours are usually conferred on citizens of a country in recognition of their service to the country. Most countries have such honours.
The honours can also be conferred on foreigners, for example, in 1989 Queen Elizabeth II conferred the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath (KGCB) on President Babangida while President Babangids conferred the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the Queen.
These are honours (recognition), they usually carry no monetary or military implication.
As Chief Chika Okpala (Zebrudaya) joked when he was awarded the MON, they gave him MON without ey (money).
I am honoured and grateful to His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (@officialABAT ), for conferring on me the MFR national honour.
I have been sent the official certificate today following the announcement last night. It’s a very proud moment for me and my family to receive this recognition.
Nigeria gave me my identity, my purpose, and the platform to live my dream through football. Wearing the green and white has always been a great responsibility, privilege, and a promise to give everything for the badge and for our people.
As our Super Eagles begin their AFCON journey today, I wish the team every success. As promised, I’ll be supporting them all the way. I believe in this group, our nation and what we can achieve.
Ishilove: But those mofos will not hesitate to sell their 840 stock at twice the amount if perchance there is a price increment. Very quick to jack up prices, but snail slow when it comes to reduction. They are all just a bunch of ruthless opportunists.
The MRS in my locality selling at 740 is the only filling station in the whole area that is currently out of stock because of the massive rush they faced over the last few days. Everyone abandoned all the other filling stations and faced them.
Unfortunately that's the way it works.
The dealers still need to sell product at the old price when prices fall, otherwise they lose money.
They need to sell product at the new price when prices rise, so that they'll have enough money to buy new stock at the new price.

IJADE ỌPA ẸYỌ
The IJADE ỌPA ẸYỌ is a ceremonial procession that embodies the heritage and continuity of Lagos. As its center is the Opambata- a symbol of authority, guidance, and blessings-carried in measured procession through the city.
Today, I received the Olori Eyo, the White Cap chiefs, traditional leaders, and other participants at Lagos House, Marina, during the Ijade Opa Eyo procession.
The Eyo Festival gives us an opportunity to present Lagos beyond its reputation as Nigeria’s economic and commercial centre. It reminds the world that our city is also deeply rooted in history, culture, and tourism, and that these elements are just as important. Culture grounds us as a people. It is what we preserve, what we pass on, and what keeps us relevant.
This year’s festival will honour remarkable individuals who helped shape Lagos and Nigeria. We remember the late Chief Abibat Mogaji, the Iyaloja-General and mother of His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, as well as Mobolaji Johnson, our first military governor. We also honour Alhaji Lateef Jakande, our first civilian governor, and Sir Michael Otedola of the Third Republic. Their contributions and legacies deserve lasting respect.
The Eyo Festival officially begins today, and it speaks to our shared identity and continuity. A society that loses touch with its culture risks losing its sense of purpose, and Lagos has chosen to remain firmly connected to its roots.
I thank His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, for his leadership and for championing the return of the Eyo Festival after eight years. I also appreciate everyone who came out to show support for our heritage. Your presence reflects the strength and dignity of our culture.
As we look ahead to Saturday, December 27, I am confident it will be a proud moment for Lagos. It will be an opportunity to welcome friends from across Nigeria and around the world, and to reaffirm that Lagos is the centre of excellence in commerce and a true home of culture and tradition.
The opambata (ceremonial stick) is usually taken to the residences of prominent people before an Eyo Festival, to inform them that yhe festival will soon hold. The opa was taken to the residence of President Bola Tinubu in Ikoyi.
Short video: He advised them to celebrate in peace, he said that they should avoid alcohol and that they should act as members of one family.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with the First Lady and Governor Sanwo-Olu received Eyo Festival organizers at his Lagos residence, signaling the commencement of the forthcoming Eyo festival on December 27.
