The Obidient movement guys in Lagos are bunch of clowns and jest stars, they picked an Igbo man as the director of Peter Obi’s presidential campaign council in Lagos State. Are you expecting Lagosians to take you guys serious ? You guys close to PO are his major problem.
However, one of the aggrieved members has restated their earlier position.
Dr Joseph Onuorah @JosephOnuorah
Political office holders MUST immediately hands off the state coordinating council of Obidients in Lagos or any other state.
This must be clear to all and sundry - the purported list prepared in the cocoon by Seyi Sowumi suggesting anyone as leaders in the movement without consultation is an exercise in futility.
Stop sucking the energy of the Movt you did not contribute in building.
Take down that list of ‘ Seyi Sowumi committee of friends’’ and consult the actual Obidients widely.
Lagos: OBIdient Movement clears air on nomination list
Israel Arogbonlo
The OBIdient Movement has dismissed reports circulating in some media outlets on the purported list of nominees into its Lagos State Coordinating Council, describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement co-signed by Rev. Ime James, Oloye Adegboyega Adeniji, and March Oyinki, the Southwest Coordinating Council of the movement said the published list did not originate from the national leadership, emphasising that it was the product of a five-month consultative process conducted solely by the Southwest Advisory Council under the leadership of Hon. Seyi Sowunmi.
According to the communiqué, the regional body said it engaged a broad spectrum of stakeholders across Lagos, including 2023 election aspirants, elected lawmakers, elder statesmen, and major support groups to ensure inclusivity and fair representation from all local government areas.
The Lagos OBIdient Movement clarified that the list was formally transmitted to the National Council, led by Dr Yunusa Tanko, on October 1, 2025, for ratification, and not produced by the national leadership as some reports claimed.
Acknowledging that a few local government areas were not fully represented in the initial draft, the regional body said corrective consultations were already underway to resolve any omissions.
“For the record, the Southwest Advisory Council, led by Hon. Seyi Sowunmi, consulted extensively with elected members of the House of Representatives in Lagos, 2023 aspirants, respected stakeholders, elder statesmen, and various Obidient support groups across the state.
“The final executive list was the outcome of over five months of diligent effort to identify the most qualified, articulate, and resourceful members drawn from support groups, Local Government areas, and the general public.
“It is important to clarify that at no point did the National Leadership, including Dr. Yunusa Tanko, participate in producing this list. It was solely the responsibility of the Southwest Coordinating Council and was officially released on 1st October 2025 to the National Council of the Obidient Movement for ratification.
“We acknowledge that a few Local Government Areas were not fully captured in the initial draft. The Regional Coordinating Council is already addressing these gaps through ongoing meetings and consultations.
“We emphasise that the reports in question are inaccurate and misleading. Our objective remains to project inclusivity and uphold the 5Cs creed of the Obidient Movement — Character, Competence, Capacity, Compassion, and Commitment,” the statement partly read.
The statement reaffirmed the movement’s dedication to transparency, fairness, and inclusivity guided by its 5Cs creed, while reiterating its commitment to “rescue Lagos and Nigeria from further economic and social decline under the APC.”

2025 U-20 WC: Flying Eagles Lost Concentration After Argentina’s Early Goal –Lawal
October 9, 2025
Former Nigerian international Dimeji Lawal believes the early goal the Flying Eagles conceded against Argentina unsettled the players in their 4-0 loss in the FIFA U20 World Cup round of 16 at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos on
Alejo Sarco scored Argentina’s first as early as the second minute, before Maher Carrizo doubled the advantage from a free kick in the 23rd minute, disrupting Nigeria’s game plan.
The South Americans made it 3-0 through Carrizo’s clinical finish before Mateo Silvetti sealed their victory in the 66th minute as he picked out the bottom left corner after receiving a pass inside the box.
Reacting after the team’s elimination, Lawal, in a chat with Completesports.com, stated that the Flying Eagles struggled to cope with the pace and movement of Argentina.
“It’s a pity that the Flying Eagles lost 4-0 to Argentina in the round of 16. However, the early goal unsettled the Flying Eagles players despite their attempt to level parity.
“Yes, the players gave their best, but Argentina showed they are the better team going by the result.”

2025 U-20 WC: Flying Eagles Suffer Humiliating 4-0 Defeat To Argentina In Round Of 16 Clash
October 8, 2025
Flying Eagles of Nigeria’s journey at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup was brought to an end following a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Argentina, in Wednesday’s round of 16 clash, Completesports.com reports.
It was revenge for the Argentines who were eliminated by the Flying Eagles on home soil 2-0 at this same stage in 2023.
Also, the Flying Eagles have now lost 11 times in 14 meetings (one win, two draws) against South American opponents at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Not a few will argue that Argentina were deserved winners as they dominated most parts of the game and created more scoring chances.
It was not a surprise when Argentina took the lead just two minutes into the contest, as Alejo Sarco slotted the ball home in the second minute, after Ebenezer Harcourt had wandered out of his goalline to claim an ariel ball.
In the 23rd minute Maher Carrizo made it 2-0 with a superb free kick as he beat Harcourt at his near post.
Carrizo then made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute, beating the offside trap, raced towards goal before slotting past a stranded Harcourt.
Then in the 66th minute Mateo Silvetti added the fourth goal with a low left foot strike after dribbling past Daniel Bamayi inside the box.
Argentina, who are on the quest of landing a seventh U-20 World Cup title, will now take on Mexico in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Africa’s other representative and U-20 AFCON champions South Africa lost 3-1 to Colombia in the other round of 16 encounter also played on Wednesday.
