Tinubu's state visit to Brazil: Air Peace to begin direct flight from Lagos to São Paulo

Nigeria's largest airline, Air Peace will soon begin a direct flight from Lagos to the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.

The direct flight was one of the agreements reached between President Bola Tinubu and Brazilian leader, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, during President Tinubu's state visit.

President Lula, at a joint conference with Tinubu, said an agreement has been reached.

“Increasing the direct connections between Nigeria and Brazil is another essential step to strengthen the ties between our societies. We have approved the launch of a direct flight, to be operated by Nigeria’s largest airline company, Air Peace, between Lagos and São Paulo”, he said.

Following a two-hour expanded bilateral meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of agreements and MOUs at the Palácio do Planalto in Brasília.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and Brazil's Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filhos, signed a Bilateral Air Services Agreement to boost trade and people-to-people ties.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, signed an agreement on Diplomatic Training Cooperation.

Both ministers also signed an MoU on political consultations to address bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest.
Nigeria's Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Nnaji and Brazil's Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Luciana Santos, signed an MoU on cooperation in biotechnology, bioeconomy, ocean science, innovation ecosystems, energy, space development, digital transformation, and raw materials research.

Managing Director of Nigeria's Bank of Agriculture, Ayo Sotinrin and Brazil's Minister for the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Aluísio Mercadante, signed an MOU for cooperation on trade and investment promotion, harmonising efforts to expand agricultural financing, investment, and joint projects.

How teams qualify for the CAF Women's Champions League.

There are 6 African sub-confederations (West Africa has been divided into 2). Each sub-confederation will provide one club and the 6 clubs are usually joined by the host and the defending champions to create an 8 team Champions League competition. TP Mazembe of DR Congo are defending champions. Algeria will host this year's competition.

Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, champions Bayelsa defeated Police Ladies of Ghana 2-1 in their opening fixture of the 2025 WAFU B Women’s Champions League on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.

The Prosperity Girls dominated the opening exchanges, and scored the curtain raiser in the 16th minute through Shakirat Moshood.

Whyte Ogbonda’s ladies failed to double their lead before the break despite creating further chances.

Emem Essien netted Bayelsa Queens second goal in the 62nd minute.

Police Ladies however pulled a goal back through Mary Berko five minutes later.

Bayelsa Queens defended their lead despite effort by the Ghanaian champions to find the leveller.

Snoop Dogg Condemns Hollywood For ‘Forcing’ LGBTQ+ Storylines Into Children’s Movies, Says He’s Scared To Go To Cinemas

American rapper Snoop Dogg has said he is “scared to go to the movies” because of what he describes as the growing presence of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) representation in children’s films.

The 53-year-old performer recalled taking his grandson to see Pixar’s 2022 release Lightyear and being unsettled by a sequence in which one of the main characters is shown in a same-sex relationship.

“What you see is what you see, and they're putting it everywhere,” Snoop said on the It’s Giving podcast.

“They're like, 'She had a baby — with another woman.' Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, 'Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She's a woman!’”

Snoop said he thought at the time, “‘Oh sh--, I didn't come in for this sh--. I just came to watch the goddamn movie.’”

The rapper added that his grandson kept asking questions: “‘They just said, she and she had a baby — they're both women. How does she have a baby?’”

Reflecting on the encounter, Snoop continued, “It f----- me up. I'm like, scared to go to the movies. Y'all throwing me in the middle of sh-- that I don't have an answer for.”

“It threw me for a loop. I'm like, 'What part of the movie was this?” he added.

“These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They're going to ask questions. I don't have the answer,” he said.

Lightyear, a spin-off from the Toy Story franchise, follows the backstory of Buzz Lightyear, voiced by Chris Evans.

The film features Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba) in a relationship with her partner Kiko, with a montage showing them getting married and raising a child. The same-sex kiss scene initially faced removal but was reinstated following protests by Pixar staff.

Some LGBTQ+ supporters have criticised the artist, saying he should be dropped as the headline act at the upcoming Australian Football League Grand Final.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has previously been criticised for remarks considered homophobic and transphobic, including describing Caitlyn Jenner as a “science project” and using an anti-gay epithet in a 2014 social media post.
