What is Postinor-2 (Levonorgestrel) ?

Levonorgestrel is a hormonal medication used in a number of birth control methods. It is combined with an estrogen to make combination birth control pills. As an emergency birth control, it is useful within 72 hours of unprotected sex.

The more time that has passed since sex, the less effective the medication becomes. Levonorgestrel works by preventing or delaying ovulation so an egg cannot be released. The dosage used for emergency contraception is ineffective when ovulation has already occurred, and has been found to have no effect on implantation. It decreases the chances of pregnancy by 57–93%.

Professor Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, Justice Ifeyinwa Nzeako and Mallam Dahiru Wali founded the Society for Family Health (SFH) in the early 1980s. It was an NGO whose goal was to ensure that poor people were able to access the tools they needed to have a healthy family. SFH fought against health problems that plagued the poor, such as malaria, poor family planning, etc.

The most important role that SFH plays is to raise funds from fund raising campaigns in Nigeria and from donors overseas and to use these funds to ensure that the poor, who do not have the money to pay for good healthcare, are able to get the tools they need in order to have a healthy family.

Professor Ransome-Kuti (who was Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's elder brother) was a professor at the University of Lagos. He was made the minister of health by President Ibrahim Babangida and he served in this position from 1985 till 1992 (it was in this role that he announced the first case of HIV in Nigeria in 1986). He left government to take up a job at the United Nations in 1992. He was therefore able to use these roles to ensure that the goals of the SFH were achieved.

SFH introduced a brand of condoms to Nigeria sometime around 1990. It was called Right Time Condom. The fact that SFH received funds from foreign aid agencies and governments meant that they could make the condoms much cheaper than it would have otherwise been. SFH introduced another brand of condoms, called Gold Circle Condom, later in the early 1990s. These condoms are basically subsidised by donor funds.

Similarly, SFH holds regular symposiums and seminars and it sometimes distributes free condoms to school children and other people who attend these events.

Note: the BASA is not only about Air Peace, it governs the operation of any Nigerian airline that is flying to Brazil and any Brazilian airline that is flying to Nigeria.

Now that I have blocked that guy, let's look at the relevant parts of the posts.

1)

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and Brazil's Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filhos, signed a Bilateral Air Services Agreement to boost trade and people-to-people ties.
This is the BASA that I referred to above. This is an agreement between two governments and it covers things like the number of flights between their countries, the airports that the flights terminate, etc.

2) This is why I refused to respond to people that wrote, "Only direct flights".

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, signed an agreement on Diplomatic Training Cooperation.

Both ministers also signed an MoU on political consultations to address bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest.
Nigeria's Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Nnaji and Brazil's Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Luciana Santos, signed an MoU on cooperation in biotechnology, bioeconomy, ocean science, innovation ecosystems, energy, space development, digital transformation, and raw materials research.

Managing Director of Nigeria's Bank of Agriculture, Ayo Sotinrin and Brazil's Minister for the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Aluísio Mercadante, signed an MOU for cooperation on trade and investment promotion, harmonising efforts to expand agricultural financing, investment, and joint projects.
It's right there.

3) In addition, the Braziliam aerospace company Embraer, which makes airliners and war planes like the Super Tucano, is establishing a service center in Nigeria.

And the Brazilian oil company Petrobras is returning to Nigeria.

THE BASA COMEDY!

The thread that I just created has reminded me of the BASA comedy.

Some strange people claimed that Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu hated Air Peace and that they were trying to sabotage the airline because it was owned by an Igbo man.

Other people told them that their argument made no sense and they pointed to Air Peace's operation on the London route as an example of Federal Government support.

The strange people claimed that Air Peace's operations on the London route had nothing to do with the Federal Government.

When Festus Keyamo wrote to the UK authorities to demand that Air Peace should be given slots at Heathrow, these people said that Keyamo was simply trying to take glory for something that had nothing to do with him.

Sensible people tried to tell the strange people about BASA and that's what led to the comedy.

The strange people had never heard of BASA before and instead of them to calm down, read and learn, this guy rushed to Google, found bilateral aviation safety agreement and claimed that it was the BASA. He then "authoritatively" argued that it had nothing to do with Air Peace. I am not lying, just click on my username in the quote below and you'll see the screenshot.
naptu2:
I wish you can understand how shocking this is for me.

I knew, many decades ago, that BASA means Bilateral Air Services Agreement. It is an agreement that is entered to between 2 nations to govern air services between the two countries.

For example, Nigeria and the United Kingdom could sign a BASA. This Basa would specify the number of times that Nigerian airlines can fly into the UK (frequencies), the airports they would fly into (landing rights/slots), etc. It would also specify the number of times that British airlines can fly into Nigeria, the airports they can fly into, etc.

BASAs usually work based on reciprocity.

Nigeria Airways and (later) Okada Air were the airlines that operated Nigeria's slots in the 1980s and 1990s.

There were concerns in the 1990s and 2000s that Nigeria had BASAs with a lot of countries, but no Nigerian airlines operated Nigeria's slots while airlines from the other countries operated their slots.

Another concern in the 2000s was America's "Open Skies" policy. Basically, America wanted to sign BASAs with other countries and these BASAs would guarantee that American airlines can fly into any airport in the other country. America would also allow the other country's airlines to fly into any airport in the US. This idea caused panic among Nigerian airlines because they were afraid that US airlines would steal domestic routes from them.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu In Brazil: Air Peace To Begin Direct Flights To Sao Paulo by naptu2(op): 1:09pm On Aug 26, 2025
We are back to the BASA argument. What does BASA mean, who is involved?

Someone said that Tinubu did not know about the direct flight and that Air Peace had signed it before government knew and that it was the Brazilian president that told Tinubu about it.

Is that not funny?
PoliticsRe: Tinubu In Brazil: Air Peace To Begin Direct Flights To Sao Paulo by naptu2(op): 12:22pm On Aug 26, 2025
I said it! Did I not say it?

Brendaniel is not interested in truth or anything like that.

Once upon a time he came to a thread that I was creating, a thread that had nothing to do with politics, to attack me about politics.

On another occasion he claimed that I was attacking Igbos. I challenged him to show where I attacked Igbos and he ran away.

I know exactly who he is, that's why I didn't want to waste my time explaining what was already written in the first post, what everybody could easily see.

Now he accuses me of supporting God knows what, but he'll run away if you ask him to provide proof.

He is not interested in truth, he only cares about ethnic group, political party, politician and religion.

That's why he can't see what's in front of his face and I am not going to waste my time to show him.

COMPAQ:
We have lots to benefit from Bazil if we get the cooperation going well.

1. We could leverage on their aviation industry to improve our capabilities with drones, which we need urgently for security now.
2. brazils beef industry is worll class. We should cooperate with them to set up ranches in middle belt states of Kwara, Northern Oyo, Benue and Kogi and the northern highlands of Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Platueu, Nasarawa and Bauchi.
3. Small weapons development for our police
I created a thread about direct flights. Some people came to the thread to say, "Only direct flights". This was despite the facts that other agreements were mentioned o! So I created this thread.

And I might create a third thread (if Nairaland allows me) about your first point. It's about what Embraer is doing in Nigeria.
