Nairaland GeneralProblems With The New Share Function by naptu2(op): 11:53am On Jun 26, 2025
Seun

The share function has changed but this has created two new problems.

1) Share locally:

We were previously able to share relevant and interesting posts with our followers on Nairaland. This was like the retweet function on Twitter or the share function on Facebook. That option no longer exists because the share button now prompts us to share posts only on external sites.

We could previously share posts on external sites by copying the url and pasting it on another site or app. However, there is now no way to share posts with our followers on Nairaland.

2) Privacy:

Previously a person could not see the diary section or diary section posts unless he was logged in to Nairaland. Now a person can use the new share function to share the text of diary posts (with their url) to people outside Nairaland who are not even logged in.

how, you can share your post or response to your fans on WhatsApp, FB, Instagram, x
Previously when you clicked the share button it shared the post to your followers on Nairaland.

Now there is no option to share posts with your followers on Nairaland , you can only share posts on external sites.

Kind of like how you have retweet on Twitter and share (on your wall) on Facebook.

Why isn't there an option for us to share posts with our followers? Twitter has a retweet button, Facebook has an option to share posts on your wall, but there is no option to share interesting or relevant posts with our followers (even though the SH tab is still there).

We are back to all these again?

People made all kinds of predictions before the 2015 elections. What happened to them?

People made all kinds of predictions before the 2019 elections. What happened to them?

People made all kinds of predictions before the 2023 elections. What happened to them?

I remember a guy that was confidently telling me that GEJ would be the APC candidate in 2023 and that GEJ's own spokesman did not know what he was talking about.

As for me, I wait for election results. The only time I have predicted a Nigerian election was in 1993 and that was because it was too obvious.

APC spokeguys and data boys get any sense so?
For the sake of being accurate, they didn't say that all the projects were innitiated by Governor Uba Sani. Read the post again. They said that the hospital was initiated by Former Vice President Namadi Sambo and they said that Vice President Sambo said (at the commissioning) that the previous two governments were unable to complete it and the Uba Sani Administration met it at 53% and completed it.

PoliticsRe: African Stream Is Shutting Down by naptu2(op): 7:10pm On Jun 24, 2025
Background

African Stream is an online platform that stated that its goal was to tell African stories from the point of view of Africans. It is affiliated with some Nigerian journalists like David Hundeyin.

However, some people expressed concerns about the platform after it began operations. They said that the platform seemed biased.

The former United States Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, gave a media conference in which he announced sanctions against Russia Today (RT). He also alleged that African Streams was being funded and controlled by RT and that it was part of RT's disinformation campaign. He said that it was being used to spread fake news and propaganda in Africa.

African Streams was banned from Facebook, Instagram and other platforms after Secretary Blinken's speech. They were still operating on X, but they feared that they would be banned there too.

African Streams rejected the US Government's allegations and claimed that it was an independent platform for Africans.

AFRICAN STREAM IS CLOSING DOWN

This is, sadly, a farewell to you, our loyal followers and supporters. Under relentless attack, we’ve made the painful decision to shut down African Stream—a platform that many of you’ve come to trust and love. This decision was not made lightly.

The smear by then–US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on September 13, 2024, labelling African Stream “Kremlin propagandists”—triggered a wave of censorship. Within days, YouTube, Meta, Google, and TikTok removed our accounts, and we were demonetised on X. These actions shattered our ability to survive financially. Personal accounts were restricted. What followed was a daily uphill battle. Now, we’re left with only one path: closure.

We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Your comments, your messages, your shares—you made us stronger, sharper, and more determined.

We are deeply proud of the work we’ve done since 2022: bringing attention to the most underreported and misrepresented continent. The imperalists want to perpetuate the dominant narrative that Africa is underdeveloped due to corruption and the mismanagement of resources. They want to remove colonialism, neo-colonialism and imperialism from the picture. We refused to play by those rules. For that, we paid the price. But it’s a price we would pay again and again.

Refusing to play by their rules led to NBC saying we spread ‘disinformation’ without providing a single example of what ‘disinformation’ we shared. Voice of America condemned us for reporting a fact: since the George W. Bush administration, every US president has authorised drone strikes on Somalia. As we responded to every smear piece, we just grew bigger and stronger until, finally, those in positions of power realised the smears weren’t working, and the rest is history.

We will cease posting as of July 1, 2025, except for a few remaining documentaries from Liberia and Mali.

With your support, we managed to ruffle many feathers. Please continue the fight and keep the Pan-African flag flying. Thank you for helping us build African Stream. As we always say: #WeAreAllAfricanStream.

PoliticsEl-Rufai And His Litany Of Lies By Kaduna State Government by naptu2(op): 5:15pm On Jun 24, 2025

EL-RUFAI AND HIS LITANY OF LIES

Press Statement by the Kaduna State Government

The attention of the Kaduna State Government has been drawn to the bare-faced lies disseminated by the former Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, regarding the projects recently commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his visit to Kaduna.

In a widely circulated television interview, Malam El-Rufai falsely claimed that all the projects commissioned by Mr. President were initiated by his administration. This assertion is not only misleading but a blatant distortion of the truth. It is imperative to set the record straight:

1.During his official visit to Kaduna State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, commissioned three major projects:
      •   Institutes of Vocational Training and Skills Development
      •   Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital, Kaduna
      •   100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses.

2.The three Institutes of Vocational Training and Skills Development were fully initiated and completed by the administration of Governor Uba Sani, CON. These include:
      •   Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa Institute, Rigachikun
      •   Col. Dangiwa Umar Institute, Soba
      •   Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Institute, Samaru Kataf.

These institutes are pivotal to Governor Uba Sani’s human capital development agenda, designed to equip Kaduna’s youth with practical, future-ready skills. Collectively, they are projected to graduate at least 36,000 youths annually.

3.The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has certified these institutions as the best-equipped skills development centers in Nigeria. According to NBTE Executive Secretary, Prof. Idris Bugaje, Kaduna State has emerged as the “hub of skills development in Nigeria.” He affirmed that no polytechnic or university of technology in the country matches the facilities and modern equipment found in the institutes at Rigachikun, Samaru Kataf, and Soba. This recognition is a direct outcome of Governor Uba Sani’s strategic investments in education and youth empowerment.

4.The 100 CNG Buses are another initiative of Governor Uba Sani’s administration, launched to provide reliable and eco-friendly transportation while mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal. As part of the government’s social welfare commitment, workers, retirees, and students will enjoy free rides for the first six months, with substantially subsidized fares available to the general public thereafter.

5.The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital was originally conceived during the administration of His Excellency, Arc. Namadi Sambo, GCON. At the commissioning ceremony, Vice President Namadi Sambo openly acknowledged that three successive administrations failed to complete the hospital, and commended Governor Uba Sani for his leadership and resolve in finally delivering the project.

6.Upon assuming office, Governor Uba Sani met the hospital at just 53% completion. The structure had no medical equipment, despite the huge sums that had allegedly been spent. The uncompleted facility had become a symbol of waste, mismanagement, and abandonment.

7.The completion and full equipping of the 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital became a top priority in Governor Uba Sani’s broader healthcare revitalization programme. He also launched the rehabilitation and upgrade of several General Hospitals across the state, many of which had been left in disrepair. Today, these revitalized health facilities are enhancing access to quality healthcare and contributing to the reduction of multidimensional poverty in Kaduna State.

8.The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital stands as a signature achievement of Governor Uba Sani’s administration. He gave it his all—failure was never an option. The project’s successful completion has earned widespread acclaim, and President Tinubu was effusive in his praise of Governor Uba Sani’s transformative impact on the healthcare sector.

9.In light of these tangible and verifiable achievements, Malam Nasir El-Rufai’s resort to distortions and falsehoods is regrettable but not surprising. While he is entitled to his opinions, facts remain sacred. Governor Uba Sani has succeeded where others faltered. No amount of revisionism can rewrite the truth.

The Kaduna State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to good governance, transparency, and sustainable development. We will not be distracted by misinformation or political bitterness. Our focus is on serving the people of Kaduna State and building a united, inclusive, healthier, and more prosperous society—free from toxicity, discrimination, division, and exclusivity.

Ibraheem Musa
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor
