Don't tell me that guy is still trying to get my attention. He's simply deceiving himself.
Meanwhile:
Baby boomers, often shortened to boomers, are the demographic cohort preceded by the Silent Generation and followed by Generation X. The generation is often defined as people born from 1946 to 1964 during the mid-20th century baby boom. By this dating, the youngest of them are 60, while the oldest are 79.
The dates, the demographic context, and the cultural identifiers may vary by country. Most baby boomers are the children of either the Greatest Generation or the Silent Generation, and are often the parents of the younger members of Generation X and Millennials.
In the West, boomers' childhoods in the 1950s and 1960s had significant reforms in education, both as part of the ideological confrontation that was the Cold War, and as a continuation of the interwar period. Theirs was a time of economic prosperity and rapid technological progress.
As this relatively large number of young people entered their teens and young adulthood—the oldest turned 18 in 1964, the youngest in 1982—they, and those around them, created a very specific rhetoric around their cohort, and the social movements brought about by their size in numbers, such as the counterculture of the 1960s and its backlash.
In many countries, this period was one of deep political instability due to the postwar youth bulge. In China, boomers lived through the Cultural Revolution and were subject to the one-child policy as adults. These social changes and rhetoric had an important impact in the perceptions of the boomers, as well as society's increasingly common tendency to define the world in terms of generations, which was a relatively new phenomenon. This group reached puberty and maximum height earlier than previous generations.
In Europe and North America, many boomers came of age in a time of increasing affluence and widespread government subsidies in postwar housing and education, and grew up genuinely expecting the world to improve with time. Those with higher standards of living and educational levels were often the most demanding of betterment. In the early 21st century, baby boomers in some developed countries are the single biggest cohort in their societies due to sub-replacement fertility and population aging. In the United States, they are the second most numerous age demographic after millennials.
CornOak: This is 2025. I think the Nigerian Air Force should consider upgrading the plane to a large type, such as the C17 Globemaster.
The problem with those other planes (the reason that special forces in the UK complained about its decommissioning and politicians in the US keep saving it) is that they need long runways to land and they use up more resources. The C130 can take off and land on dirt tracks and it needs less space to take off and land (which is why it was used by special forces in the UK). You should read the account of a Nigeria Air Force pilot that landed and took off under fire in Liberia.
Never knew the NA has such a jumbo transport aircraft. I think you should consider creating a thread for this topic.
Thanks again, for your response.
The C130 is one of the most important planes in the Nigerian Air Force. It has been used to convey coffins of dead leaders (Abacha, Yar'Adua, etc), Super Eagles players, presidential vehicles, NTA outside Broadcast Van (to Liberia) and for many other uses.
It's also been valuable in the US (people are always trying to decommission it, but US politicians always keep it going) and the UK only decommissioned theirs last year.
I didn't bother to read that guy's reply, because I figured out that he is an alternate account of those trolls.
Everybody knows that millenials are the generation of people that became adults around the year 2000. You can even see it in my first post. Everybody also knows that the term millenials is not limited to the West. For example:
If he doesn't know this, then that's his problem, not mine.
Everybody knows that the term baby boomers is not limited to the United States or even the West (the recent popular reply, "OK boomer" originated in the Australian Parliament, not in the US).
Everybody knows that there was a global baby boom after the Second World War and countries like Brazil and Russia (and he himself admitted that it included Nigeria) experienced this. If he doesn't know this, that's his problem, not mine.
Everybody knows that many different people characterise generations based on many different things and that's why we have the internet generation, the MTV generation, the Indomie generation, etc. If he doesn't know this, then that's his problem, not mine.
I'm curious, how are the President's fleet of vehicles and security vans transported to the states he visits?
Do they drive these cars down to the state ahead of his arrival or the vehicles are airlifted with large military transport aircrafts, such as the Boeing C-17 Globemaster plane?
Do we even have this cargo plane in our fleet?
I appreciate your response.
I can't post the pictures here, but click on my username in the quote below to see the pictures and the original post.
naptu2: How do the limousines of heads of state travel from one city to the other?
I have written about this many times since 2008, but I think it's time to write about it again.
A president is about to travel. He goes to the airport in a motorcade, steps out of a limousine and into the plane and it takes off.
The presidential plane lands in another city, maybe in another country or it could even be on another continent. He steps out of the plane, greets his hosts, is introduced to dignitaries and then he steps into the same limousine that took him to the airport in his own country. How did the limousine get there so fast? Is it magic? Is it juju? How did they do it?
I'll tell you how.
There are many ways in which this feat is achieved and I'm going to tell you all of them (with pictures attached).
1) CVU
The Conference Visitors Unit (CVU) was set up by a law that was enacted by the administration of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The main purpose of CVU was to prepare Nigeria to host international conferences and events like the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, OAU Summit and ECOWAS summits. CVU basically provided the logistics for international events that were hosted by Nigeria.
CVU booked hotels for visiting dignitaries. In conjunction with the Foreign Ministry, they sometimes provided interpreters for international events. They also helped to organise local events like constituent assemblies and the provided logistics to support the National Assembly in the immediate aftermath of military rule.
However, what CVU was most well known for was its cars.
The law that was made by Tafawa Balewa's Government stipulated that any vehicle that belonged to the Federal Government, but which was not attached to any ministry, department or agency must be kept with the CVU.
I can probably tell you about every car that was at the headquarters of CVU from the late 1970s till the early 1990s (and even beyond).
There were a lot of green W116 Mercedes Benz S Class cars at CVU in the late 1970s (during the Murtala/Obasanjo/Yar'Adua era). These were replaced with black W126 S Class cars during the Shagari era.
There were very many of those W126 S Class cars at CVU during the 1980s. The Shagari Administration bought mainly Mercedes Benz 500SEL and Mercedes Benz 280SEL models and the Babangida Administration added Mercedes Benz 560SEL models.
There were also a lot of Mercedes Benz W201 (190E) and W124 Mercedes Benz (V Booth) cars there.
There was a Mercedes Benz W123 stretch limousine there as well. It had 3 rows of seats, but it had only 4 doors. There also used to be lots of regular W123 sedans, but these were replaced by the W124s during the Babangida era.
Most of those gigantic Mercedes Benz buses that were imported from Brazil for FESTAC '77 were also kept at CVU. They were used to convey delegates to conferences, but when there were no conferences, they were used as staff buses, to convey CVU staff to and from work. Those buses were very noisy and you could hear them all across the neighbourhood.
There were also smaller and quieter air conditioned Mercedes Benz buses, which I believe were used for an Ecowas or OAU summit. They were also used as staff buses.
There were many silver and black Peugeot 504 and 505 cars at CVU and a lone blue Peugeot 505 Evolution.
There were also utility vehicles like tow trucks and tankers at CVU.
Nigeria hosted the OAU Summit in Abuja in 1991 and many 6-door W124 Mercedes Benz limousines were bought to convey visiting presidents around Abuja. Some of those limousines were brought to Lagos and kept at CVU after the summit.
The Abdulsalam Abubakar Administration bought several W140 stretch limousines and salon cars and he ordered that they should be distributed across the various CVU depots.
That's the point. CVU had its headquarters in Lagos, but it also had depots in Kano and Enugu. The headquarters was moved to Abuja in the 1990s. This meant that CVU could provide identical limousines and luxury cars for a dignitary's use, no matter where the dignitary was in Nigeria.
It could provide vehicles from Lagos for any event in the South-West, it could provide vehicles from Kano for any event in the North, it could provide vehicles from Enugu for any event in the East and it could provide vehicles from Abuja for any event in the Middle Belt.
Therefore, you could see the President arrive Lagos Airport in a particular car and then see him depart Kano Airport in an identical car.
But this doesn't explain everything. President Olusegun Obasanjo felt that the Federal Government was spending too much money and so his government sold a lot of things that the Federal Government owned, in order to save money. Those things included a lot of CVU assets.
A lot of CVU cars were sold by that government. The former CVU Headquarters in Lagos was handed over to the EFCC and the EFCC now uses it to store cars that it has seized from criminals. The CVU depots in Kano and Enugu were also sold and only the CVU Headquarters in Abuja still remains.
So, how come we still see the magic of the President using one car in one city and still using the same car in another city?
2) Transport planes:
In a lot of cases, most of the vehicles in the VIP's motorcade are transported from city to city by transport planes.
Air forces all over the world have transport planes that they use to carry trucks, armoured vehicles and other goods to the war zones. These transport planes can also carry the vehicles in the VIPs motorcade.
American, Russian and Chinese heads of state always fly in their limousines and other motorcade vehicles whenever they are travelling out of their capitals. In fact, the Americans take this practice to a totally crazy level.
The Americans transport their president's helicopters and other associated aircraft by transport planes to wherever he is going.
The pictures below are of the motorcade of the former chief of Air Staff of Nigeria, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. The vehicles are being loaded aboard a Hercules C130 transport plane.
In the next post you can see the US president's limousine being loaded onto a C5 Galaxy transport plane.
The limousines of the British monarch are also loaded onto C17 Globemaster transport planes.
(All these planes begin with the letter C because they were made by American companies and the American Air Force's naming system dictates that the names of transport planes begin with C).
3) Royal yacht:
Lastly, a limousine could be transported by the Royal Yacht.
The Royal Yacht Britannia was ordered during the reign of King George VI. However, he died before it was completed and it was his daughter, Queen Elizabeth II that used it. The Royal Yacht was often sailed to the places that the Queen would visit and she often hosted the head of state that she was visiting to dinner onboard the ship.
I got the chance to get a good view of the yacht in 1990 when it was moored at Marina in Lagos for the visit of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
There is a garage on the yacht and one of the Queen's Rolls Royce limousines could be put in that garage for her use when she gets to her destination. Of course, as I've previously told you, she usually has 2 identical state cars and so you might see her leave the UK in one car and then see her leave the airport at her destination in an identical car.
The Queen used the Royal Yacht Britannia from 1953 till 1997.
DaddyCoool: You are actually the one wrong. See below. As for Millenials, I think the name fools you. The date is '81- '96. Consider Gen Z. Their most prominent characteristic is concern for environment (climate change), and not caring too much about high salary or accumulation of wealth but about life satisfaction. In Nigeria it is the opposite - get rich by any means and yahoo and japa!
Kai! How can something so simple be so difficult for you to understand? You don't even understand what the term millenials means!
I am beginning to doubt that you are serious and now I wonder whether I should continue with this conversation.
Are you sure that you are not an alternate account of one of those trolls, because nobody would seriously type so much rubbish like you did in your last post.
I'll give it one more go.
Let me guess, you believe that the term millenials means people that were born around the millenium? You are wrong!
The term millenials means people that became adults at the turn of the millenium. DO YOU ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND IT NOW??
Then you posted some rubbish about Nigerian birth rate! What has that got to do with the conversation? (At least you acknowledged that Nigeria's birth rate was increasing, but that wasn't my point in the first place) I told you that people of that generation are called baby boomers because of a boom in GLOBAL BIRTH RATE. Do you understand the term global birth rate?
Basically, it's like you discovered that you were wrong and decided to through a bunch of red herrings to divert attention.
President Tinubu had stated on New Year morning that he was going to visit states, he said that he was sure that he would find something to be proud of in the states. He said that he was going to begin by visiting Enugu on the 4th of January.
In response, the chairman of the Governors's Forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak said that the governors were getting increased revenue and they were doing great things with it. He mentioned the Blue and Red Lines in Lagos, roads in Delta and Bayelsa, etc. He said that he was sure that President Tinubu would see these developments when he visits the states.
In order for President Tinubu to make that announcement, the visit must have been planned a long time in advance. Presidential state visits are not spur of the moment events and the itinerary must have been coordinated with the Enugu State Government.
It was after President Tinubu made that announcement that Peter Obi asked the President to travel around the country by road.
DaddyCoool: But they were called that because there was a baby boom (unusually high birthrate) IN THE WEST (especially US) durring that period. No such unusually high birthrate (baby boom) occurred in Nigeria and Africa!
Wrong. They were called that because there was a GLOBAL baby boom. The global birth rate was declining in the 1930s, that decline halted and then the baby boom began after World War 2.
Let me guess, you are also going to say that Millenials are called millenials because it was only the West that entered the third millenium?
People are at the heart of our mission. Thank you, Lagos Island, for the warm and rapturous welcome this afternoon.
I appreciate your support, which further fuels my determination to create a brighter future for a Nigeria that works for everyone—one we will all be proud to call our country.
We must work and pray together for a better country.
Today, I had the honour of visiting His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, at the historic Iga Idunganran Palace, a site rich in culture and tradition.
During my visit, Kabiyesi and I engaged in meaningful conversations about the role traditional institutions play in shaping our society and how they can improve on their role as partners in governance and development.
We discussed Nigeria's challenges and emphasised the importance of leveraging our traditional values in building a cohesive society that promotes prosperity for all citizens.
Thank you, Kabiyesi for the opportunity of this important meeting.

🤣 Someone once said that there will always be war if you put two Nigerians in a room. He said that there will still be war if it's only one Nigerian in a room.
Nigerians love to argue and will never agree on anything.
The fact that there is one form of classification does not negate another form of classification.
You have the internet age and therefore you have the internet generation, but that does not erase the fact that you also have the MTV generation, it doesn't erase the fact that you have the Indomie generation and it doesn't erase the fact that you have millenials.
reservd: What are the criteria that determines a generation?
A generation is basically all the people born and living within a particular period of time.
Generations are usually categorised by signifcant events or things that are common to people born or living within this period of time, for example, in Nigeria, people talk about the Indomie Generation, by which they mean people that were fed with Indomie Noodles when they were babies or toddlers.
The generations listed on the first post are categorised based on major global events, for example, World War 2 was a major global conflict that affected nearly every single part of the planet. Nigerian soldiers fought in World War 2, as did soldiers from many countries around the world. Babies that were born immediately after World War 2 are called Baby Boomers.
The Gregorian Calendar is used in most countries around the world. A third millenium began (according to the Gregorian Calendar) in the Year 2000. People that became adults in or around the Year 2000 are known as Millenials.
