Sarah Chikaodinaka "Cheeks" Ogoke is a member of the Nigerian female national basketball team called D'Tigress. She is a 4-time Afrobasket champion with D'Tigress, winning the title in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023. She also played at the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.

Sarah has played for Southern Polytechnic State University and the University of Pittsburgh in the United States, First Bank Basketball Club of Lagos (the best female basketball club in Nigeria and one of the best in Africa), Deepwater Basketball Club (also in Nigeria), Celta Vigo in Spain, Primeiro Agosto in Angola and Ferroviário of Mozambique with whom she won the FIBA African Women's Champions Cup in 2019.

Sarah Ogoke was born in New York in 1990. Her father, Bentley Ogoke, is a medical doctor and her mother Edith Okure-Ogoke is a nurse. She is following in her parents' footsteps and she has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Premedicine from the Southern Polytechnic State University, Mariett, Georgia. She graduated from the New York College Of Podiatric Medicine to become a podiatrician (foot/ankle doctor).

She divides her time between Nigeria, the United States and Mozambique. She has worked as a volunteer clinician at the JonBon Hospital in Imo State and has been involved in many training camps for youth in many parts of Nigeria.

The holidays hit differently this year. I’m thankful to be able to enjoy tradition with my little boy and our new family. I’m thankful for the @nbbfonline, my teammates, and my coaches for their support throughout my pregnancy. I’m thankful for hubby, my family, and friends. I’m thankful for my job 👩🏽‍⚕️ and their support as well. I’m thankful for all the amazing contributions to little Bentley’s registry.

I couldn’t have asked for a better support system.

It's been a roller-coster year for her. From bagging a degree , losing her Dad and now this beautiful piece of news. Happy for her.

Sometimes it helps to have some context before publicly exhibiting ignorance in any form. This is for you and those who see the France-Nigeria Business Council meeting as a ‘funny ploy’. (P.S. images below taken by me at the inaugural meeting of the council in 2021. Disclosure: I have worked closely with the council since inauguration, and been at their meetings since it was set up)

The France-Nigeria Business Council (as pictured below), was inaugurated at a summit in the Versailles Palace by President Macron at the end of June 2021 - a month after President Buhari visited Paris for the Financing of African Economies Summit.

The first 6 Nigerian members of the council at its inauguration (all pictured below) included the pioneer and two-time President (2021-2023) of Council - Abdul Samad Rabiu of BUA Group; Herbert Wigwe (now of blessed memory & president from 2023 till his passing) of Access Bank; Chief Mike Adenuga of Globacom; Gilbert Chagoury of Chagoury Group; Aliko Dangote of Dangote Industries; and Tony Elumelu, Chairman UBA & Heirs Holdings. This has now been expanded to include the likes of Daisy Danjuma of May&Baker and Sapetro; Dr. Philip Mshelbila of NLNG, Gbenga Agboola of Flutterwave; Jim Ovia of Zenith amongst others. Aig-Imokhuede of Access Bank took over as President after Herbert’s untimely passing this year. On the French side, you had big businesses like Dassault, Axens, Danone, Axens, Ponticelli, Total Energies, amongst others.

I recall that since the first summit, many successes and partnerships have been recorded on both sides two Nigerian Banks opening full offices in Paris amongst other collaboration in Oil&Gas, Renewables & Energy, Transport, Infrastructure, Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture, amongst others.

Whilst some sit and complain, there are many who are working hard to establish mutually beneficial business and economic initiatives for Nigeria within and outside the country. Now, our Chief Marketer and C-in-C, President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT is leading the charge. Guess what? He will succeed and the world is already taking notice.
