The Chinese don't want technical and technological partnership. They want the reliance to continue where they sell to us and we buy from them, while they retain the technological advantage they have over us. We are a consuming nation, not a productive nation and it is to their own advantage.
The Chinese have had a lot of technical and technological partnerships with us. As with all things China, you get what you ask and pay for.

Instead of just selling us trains and building tracks and wagons themselves, they sponsored Nigerians to Chinese universities to learn how to do these things. Below is just one example of that, there are many.

72 Nigerian Railway Engineers Trained In China Return

They didn't just take Nigerians to China to learn, they built universities in Nigeria.

They didn't just build a university, they built a factory.

It's not just in the railway sector, Innoson has partnered with many Chinese companies to produce cars in Nigeria and the Lagos State Government has also partnered with Chinese car companies to produce cars in Lagos and train Nigerian engineers and technicians.

But some Nigerians don't want this because they want to be able to monopolise the market for Chinese goods.

That's not true. As with all things China, you get what you ask for. They have had technical partnership with Nigeria.

But there are some Nigerians that don't want technical partnership.

I'll explain in 30 minutes.

APC’s Yakubu Ali Wins Disina Bye-Election

by Deborah Akwa
September 20, 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Yakubu Ali, has won the Disina State Constituency by-election in Bauchi State.

The election was held on Saturday across 95 polling units in Disina Constituency, with results announced on Sunday.

Ali polled 5,846 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Babangida Isaq of the All Progressives Movement (APM), who scored 5,225 votes.

Ali won by 621 votes. The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) candidate, Alhaji Rilwanu Galadiman Disina, finished third with 3,701 votes.

The constituency is in Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The bye-election drew candidates from the APC, APM and PRP, among other political interests.

Before the poll, People’s Redemption Party (PRP) leaders had called for a peaceful and credible election.

They also urged political parties and their supporters to avoid violence, intimidation and inflammatory statements.

The PRP had presented Rilwanu Galadiman Disina as its candidate during its campaign in the constituency.

During the campaign, PRP governorship candidate Senator Shehu Buba Umar urged political actors to focus on issues, leadership and service rather than personal attacks.

The Disina election was one of the State Assembly by-elections.

With 5,846 votes, Ali emerged before Isaq and Galadiman Disina to secure the Disina State Constituency seat.

Ali’s victory gives the APC the seat following the by-election.
