In the 1980s I developed some personal rules for reading Nigerian newspapers. This story has reminded me of a few of them and so now I have to ask:

1) Who is the person that made the claim that the NFF is forcing players on Randy Waldrum? What is the name/identity of the person?

2) Where is the evidence that the person's claim is true?

3) Why should we immediately believe the person without hearing from the other sides?

Did any of the article posted here mention Onome at all? I didn't see her name mentioned so surprised she's inserting herself into the story except there's something I do not know. Correct me if I'm mistaken
People have been claiming on social media that it's Francisca Ordega and Onome Ebi. I guess that's what made some people to resume insults against her.

Note: She is reacting to insults and attacks against her, not to the articles.

Besides, Samm Audu (Score Nigeria) specifically mentioned her

Onome Ebi's video.

She said that if anybody says it's true that NFF are begging Randy to take her to the Olympics, the person should come out openly on live, just as she's on live, to say it.

She said that people have been trying to frustrate her for a long time. She has been receiving insults for a long time. She was on her own, didn't do anything, but people are insulting her.

She said that, even if she's picked for the Olympics, it's to honour her. That Marta that is going to the Olympics, it's to honour her. You'll see that she'll just enter a few matches (I think she means that Marta will be a substitute) and it's to honour her before she retires, but in her own country Nigeria, it's insults that she's receiving.

She's crying that people have been trying to frustrate her since 2017.

Toyin Abraham reportedly arrests X user who wished her son death

[i

Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has reportedly arrested an X user who wished her son death.

The actress, who is facing intense criticism online following her support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general election, had engaged in a heated exchange with one X user identified as @Yarlo.

In the course of the heated exchange, the X user wished death on Toyin’s son. He wrote, “Your son go kpai soon.”

Toyin, in response, promised to use him as a scapegoat, to which the X user replied, “Use me as the first scapegoat.”

However, in a new development on Monday, another user who claimed to be very close to @Yarlo, alleged that the X user was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for cyberbullying Toyin Abraham.

Reaching out for help on behalf of the arrested X user, @Reedah wrote: “Hello I’m Reedah and Yarlo is my friend. Heard from his mother that he was arrested 4 days ago. I heard that the police came from Lagos to arrest him for cyber bullying Toyin Abraham. Pls any help you can render will deeply appreciate you.”

However, efforts made by DAILY POST to reach the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, via phone calls and text messages for comments on the arrest were unsuccessful.

One of the reasons that I was cautious about the report is because I know very many people that have been involved in football administration in the past. Once upon a time it was a straightforward thing, but over time all kinds of politics crept in.

Some administrators sometimes leak stories to the press, stories that are not true, in order to achieve political aims.

I don't know if that's the case this time and that's why my atitude remains the same. I don't know if the reports are true or not. I am waiting for an official response from the NFF, for Randy Waldrum's side of the story and to see the team list.
