I consider the most recent speculations about Malam Nasir @elrufai as reflecting an unhealthy obsession with politics.

People have personal histories and relationships that predate political affiliations. It cannot be a hallmark of civilisation to have friends from within only your political party. When people visit each other or mingle across party lines, it is because human relationships exist, distinct from the political or the partisan.

Malam Nasir @elrufai is a senior member of the APC, one of the signatories to its merger documents, and a significant contributor to the party’s demonstrated viability. These contributions do not require that he treats friends as anathema on account of politics or maintains an antiseptic distance from them.

Malam Nasir @elrufai hosted some friends to Iftar on Tuesday, 19 March 2024. NSA Nuhu Ribadu was at the Iftar with a senior APC figure like Alh. Kashim Imam. SDP National Chairman Shehu Musa Gabam was among the friends who partook in the Iftar. Gabam was not accused of considering crossing over to the APC on account of that.

When Malam Nasir @elrufai visited Gabam the next day, he was merely returning a visit to a friend who happens to be SDP chairman.

Malam El-Rufai is known for being open and forthright. If he had any political decisions to make, it would not be in character to let them be subject to speculation.

Unfounded speculations about Malam Nasir @elrufai have become an industry that has delivered tons of lies and clickbaits in the last 18 years. This is unlikely to abate anytime soon, given the persistent obsession of its purveyors who relish in negativity and their tireless indulgence in conflating assumption with fact. A recent instance was when he visited former presidents late in 2023 to explain his Nigerian governance study book project covering each of their tenures, the speculators said it was about politics! That is why it is sometimes necessary to clarify matters lest the unwary be taken in.

Tacon 0-6 Barcelona

Asisat Oshoala scored 4 goals as Barcelona defeated Tacon 0-6 yesterday. Real Madrid is in the process of (or has already) taking over Tacon.

This "stadium" looks small because CD Tacon plays at Real Madrid's training ground. Madrid has actually taken over Tacon (the take over was approved at their general meeting last year), but Tacon cannot change their name and logo in the middle of the season (that's the reason that I wrote "in the process of taking over" ). Tacon will register with a new name and logo at the beginning of next season.

In one of my previous threads, one of the "exposed people" said that Asisat Oshoala cannot chip the keeper like Messi does, that's why she always goes round the keeper. Obviously this is not true (Oshoala scores lots of different types of goals) and she actually did chip the keeper yesterday (unfortunately the camera work is poor because of the size of the stadium).

African Games 2023: Losing To Ghana Hard Pill To Take –Falconets Midfielder Laments

Falconets midfielder Rukayat Shobowale has described the African Games women’s final defeat to Ghana as a hard pill to take.

Despite going behind in the first half, Ghana’s Black Princesses went on to win 2-1 after extra-time in Thursday’s final.

Loveth Edeh gave the Falconets the lead in the 24th minute but Tracy Twum equalised for Ghana on 78 minutes.

Then in the 99th minute of extra-time Mukarama Abdullai got the winner for the hosts.

The win means Ghana ended Nigeria’s reign as champions in the women’s football event of the African Games.

Reacting to the defeat, Shobowale went on to thank Nigerians for their support.

“It was a hard pill to take loosing the final of the Africa Games,” she wrote on X.

“We appreciate Nigerians for their support while in Accra.”

Meanwhile, the Falconets will feature at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.

The competition will start on 31 August and end 22 September.

African Games 2023: Falconets Lose To Ghana In Final

Ghana’s Black Princesses came from a goal down to beat Nigeria’s Falconets 2-1 after extra-time, in the African Games 2023 football event on Thursday night.

The defeat means the Falconets’ reign as African Games champions has ended.

Loveth Edeh put the Falconets 1-0 ahead in the 23rd minute, slotting the ball home after the Ghanaian keeper spilled the ball.

With 12 minutes left Ghana equalised through Tracy Twum.

In the 99th minute of extra-time Mukarama Abdullai scored the winner as her low shot on the edge of the box beat the Falconets keeper.
