The President of the United State of America, Donald Trump, on Monday evening declared he was mobilizing all federal resources in response to protests over the police-involved killing of George Floyd and encouraged all governors to deploy the National Guard in their states.

The President also called on mayors and governors to establish an “overwhelming law enforcement presence” and said he will deploy the United States military if state and local governments do not “take the action necessary to defend the life and property of their residents.”

“My first and highest duty as president is to defend our great country and the American people,” Trump said. “I swore an oath to uphold the laws of our nation and that is exactly what I will do.”

AMC Networks warned on Tuesday that second-quarter US ad revenue will be down about 30 percent as the season 10 finale of “The Walking Dead” gets pushed back amid the coronavirus crisis.

Animal pharmaceutical maker Zoetis is launching a new pet insurance business amid a spike in pet adoptions during the coronavirus pandemic, The Post has learned.

The Parsippany, NJ-based business plans to announce its new Pumpkin Pet Insurance, which it created with entrepreneur Alex Douzet, of dog food company Ollie, on April 30. It will be marketed as the first pet insurance package that will include preventive coverage, a Pumpkin spokeswoman told The Post.

The $60 billion Zoetis, which develops and manufactures medicines and vaccines serving veterinarians and livestock producers, will start offering its pet vitamins to individual pet owners covered by Pumpkin’s insurance package, sources said.

Customers with a pet insurance policy can add preventive care for an extra $15.95 a month for dogs and $10.95 for cats, and get 12 monthly doses of flea, tick and heartworm disease chewables made by Zoetis sent to their homes.

Pig farmers are reportedly killing piglets and giving sows abortions as the coronavirus crisis upends the American meat industry.

Some farmers have resorted to such measures as they run low on space to house their livestock now that the pandemic has shut down about 20 processing plants and slaughterhouses in North America, according to Reuters.

Roughly nine producers in Iowa including farmer Dean Meyer have started euthanizing some 125 newborn piglets each week until they get a break from the recent disruptions, the news agency reported Monday. The tiny pig corpses are reportedly composted so they can be used as fertilizer.

Actor Johnny Depp showed his musical prowess during a livestreamed festival this Sunday, performing a cover of John Lennon’s “Working Class Hero.”

The 56-year-old sang the track, off Lennon’s 1970 album “John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band” and accompanied himself on acoustic guitar for the Pathway to Paris virtual festival, honoring Earth Day’s 50th anniversary. The event took place on Instagram Live.

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the risk from coronavirus is emphatically worse than regular flu, reversing his previous statements.
Trump told a White House press conference that “a lot of people” had previously suggested the country should simply let the coronavirus take its course, just like the seasonal flu.
“Ride it out, don’t do anything, just ride it out and think of it as the flu,” they said, according to Trump, who said: “But it’s not the flu. It is vicious.” Trump’s clear statement contrasted with numerous recent times when he made the argument himself that the pandemic was comparable to the annual spread of flu.
He appeared to favor this thinking while questioning the need to shut down the US economy through social distancing measures and travel bans. On March 9, for example, Trump noted that tens of thousands of Americans die from the flu annually.
“Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on,” he had tweeted on March 9. “At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!” Just a week ago, Trump told Fox News in an interview that despite deaths of about 36,000 people a year on average from flu, “we’ve never closed down the country for the flu.” “So you say to yourself, ‘What is this all about?'”

This century-old man is a living marvel — an Italian born during the Spanish flu who has now recovered from the coronavirus.

The man, who is 101 years old and identified only as “Mr. P,” tested positive for COVID_19 and was hospitalized in the northeast city of Rimini last week — only to leave the hospital Thursday after beating the bug, CNN reports.

Gloria Lisi, Rimini’s deputy mayor, called the recovery “truly extraordinary” and inspired “hope for the future.”

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday he had tested positive for coronavirus and was self-isolating at Downing Street but would still lead the government’s response to the accelerating outbreak.
Johnson, 55, experienced mild symptoms on Thursday – a day after he answered at the prime minister’s weekly question-and-answer session in parliament’s House of Commons chamber.

After having a colleague test positive for COVID-19 and developing minor symptoms himself, “The Walking Dead” actor Daniel Newman sought to be tested in Georgia. He called around and discovered his own doctor and many urgent-care clinics didn’t even have the tests available. When he finally found a large hospital in Atlanta that did have them, it was only after Newman was recognized for his role on the AMC horror TV series that he was given one.

“Preferential treatment is disgusting,” Newman, 38, tells CNN of being among the few to receive a test for the novel coronavirus. But apparently, even fame isn’t enough to get the results of the test — only an invoice to the tune of $9,116.

LONDON: The UK is now facing a national shortage of paracetamol, commonly used to fight Covid-19, due to India curbing exports of the drug during the global pandemic.
Pharmacists across the UK are being forced to ration paracetamol-containing products to one packet per customer, with many shops completely out of stock of the world’s most popular painkiller.
On March 3, India restricted the export of 26 pharmaceutical ingredients and the medicines made from them, which included paracetamol, some antibiotics and certain vitamins.

NEW DELHI: Strictly implemented social distancing measures such as home quarantine can reduce the overall expected number of cases by 62% and peak number of cases by 89%, thus “flattening” the curve and providing more opportunities for interventions, a mathematical modelling done by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) shows.
The findings of the study also suggest that screening of travellers at entry points can delay introduction of the virus into the community by three days to three weeks.

The South-South chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has endorsed and threw its weight behind his leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the party.

This is ahead of the Emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party which comes up in less than 24 hours.

The South-South declared its position in a communique issued on Monday in Abuja after a meeting of the NEC members of the party from the zone in Abuja on Sunday night.

This was announced in a statement on Madonna’s website (Madonna.com) while apologising to fans.
