Politics / Re: 'we Declined House Committee’s Request For Cryptocurrency Bribe’ by Nbotee(m): 4:03pm On May 07
Lifestone:
These are not the issues at stake but a clear diversionary tactics to shift focus away from the grave money laundry and currency allegations again Binance. The latter is what is important to which they now have an opportunity to respond to in Court.
While I'm not holding brief for the House Committee members, anybody could have approached them claiming to represent the Committee but out to swindle them. Binance CEO was just recently sentenced to prison terms in the U.S and their operations prohibited in some South Asian countries.
They should take their evidence to court, afterall we have various Nigerians standing trials in the U S

Why hasn't the country continued it's case against the staff still in it's custody? Why was there a report that the escaped executive had been arrested in Kenya and awaiting extradition? The govt claimed Binance was manipulating the naira and sabotaging the economy and was used to launder money but yet it only charged the executives with tax evasion

Travel / Re: UK Home Office: Students Bringing Dependants To The UK Fall By 80% by Nbotee(m): 3:04am On May 03
emkz:
This is being clever by half.

A recent report also said that the enrollment of non-EU students in a third of UK universities dropped significantly, doubling on the decline from previous year. Because of the decline in international students enrollment which previously contributed to the revenue of universities, some universities have responded by cutting their work force while others have reduced entry standards to attract high-paying international students.

Another report which identified India and Nigeria as source markets for UK universities, stated that financial modelling by PwC "indicates that anywhere from 51% to 80% of UK universities could fall into deficit if international enrolments decline from 2024/25 onwards".

So while Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary James Cleverly are celebrating the decline in dependants, they are afraid to highlight the damage they have done to the UK university system.

Same way, Nigel Farage, former UK Independence Party (UKIP), blamed the UK government for forcing their medical personnel to migrate abroad and poaching such services from poor African nations.

The UK migration policies under the Conservatives have flip-flopped over the years. Their inconsistencies affect long-term planning.

I pray they lose their next elections.

Please, if you have the funds, do not waste it in the UK. Many immigrants are looking towards United States and Australia. New Zealand is not bad. Also Germany, Northern Ireland, Finland and Sweden. I did not mention Canada as I feel those ones have reached a saturation point after selling immigration for years.

Very well written

Education / Re: What Would Happen If Banks Are Allowed To Sell Dollars? by Nbotee(m): 8:29am On Apr 27
oz4real83:
that is what they were doing before, but the corrupt banks will hoard the dollars and sell to bdcs at more than the CBN official rates and the bdcs will in turn sell the dollars they got from the commercial banks at parallel market rates to Nigerians in need of dollars. The banks were making more money from this practice, corruption has eaten too deep into every fabric of the Nigerian society embarassed

Isn't it the same thing the BDCs are doing

The problem is the CBN not doing it's job as a regulatory agency over banks. If you give a quota of forex to banks for sale, they should have records to back up it's sale. Anyone should be able to walk into the bank and buy forex. The banks, the CBN and the BDCs are all one and the same people

Just imagine the countries we are comparing ourselves to just to justify the tariff increase. Guinea Bissau that is one of the poorest countries in the world and has one of the lowest electricity connection in Africa not to even mention the world. Cost of electricity in Egypt is 0.18kWH. Even Sudan that is at war enjoys cheaper electricity so what are the stats supposed to prove?
