it depends on the policeman,some will simply check your papers & let you go,some are affected by what you say,like me I tell them about how I'm unemployed & how I even applied for police job but was rejected etc lolsss some of the policemen will let you go based on such hearfelt message. But there are others that even if you talk from morning till night na story and you must 'drop'

NB: in the case of the police the above will only reduce the money you'll be made to pay as desperate policemen will find a fault in just about anything in your vehicle just to get money out of you

Today isn't just any other saturday if you live in Lagos state,Nigeria.Some set theirs on the last saturday of every month,some states set theirs on the first saturdays. Its popularly(notoriously to me) known as 'environmental sanitation'.Where residents of the state involved stay home and are suppose to clean their environments,basically.
Its should be a good policy afterall it involves cleanliness,but when it entails at least symbolised by residents clearing gutters and placing the debris (and carcasses in some cases) on the road is complete hypocrisy.
First the sand and debris that enter these streets roads is because the roads aren't tarred,the carcasses,'purewater' wrappers,poo etc that also enter these gutters are because the gutters aren't covered. These are wholely the responsibility of the govt. In most parts of cities around Nigeria they don't have swiftly refuse collectors that would actually go to these places and remove the refuse of the road!!As a result the refuse become a nuisance for pedestrians and motorists and if it rains eventually the refuse/debris are simply washed back into the gutters!
The economic impacted of this sit at home sanitation I obviously can't quantify,but private entrepreneurs would have an idea of how much have been lost yearly on these 'half saturdays' .
In summary,Abuja and other major states round the world that don't undergo this saturday sanitation thing,are equally not dirty cities,despite the hours spent going to work,there will always be a decent amount of time for people to clean their internal homes and compounds instead of this 'once in a month curfew' that has more cons than pros.
Environmental sanitation should be scrapped.

So its basically all about the money
